French Selection Sunday 12th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]

C1 – PRIX DE CHERBOURG-EN-COTENTIN – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Mounted – EUR € 46,000

  1. L’APOGEE IMPERIAL – 4th of 7 finishers, a place behind LABEL DE LARRE (6), in a Class D under these conditions on 20 December. Shoes off this time but still not easy to recommend
  2. LEONARD DU CLOS – Sanctioned early in a 2175m Class B here a fortnight ago. Modified shoeing but a rank outsider all the same
  3. LEA DE FROULAY – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2175m Class B here on 27 December. Is not devoid of ability, and races barefoot for the first time, but would be preferred a level down
  4. LACINIA – Won 2 of 3 before faulting early in a Class D over course and distance 3.5 weeks ago. Has ample ability, races first-time barefoot, and can finish thereabouts
  5. LEBOSS D’HAVAROCHE – 3rd of 10 finishers in a harness Class D over course and distance a week ago. Should take well to the new discipline and can make the frame if form transitions
  6. LABEL DE LARRE – In the frame in last 2 but latterly a flattering 3rd of 7 finishers in a Class D under these conditions on 20 December and, reconfigured or not, will need to find more
  7. LOUISIANE KAT – Complicated but capable filly taking first steps under the saddle after finishing last of 8 in a 2700m harness Class C here on 31 December. Reconfigured for the occasion and should not be underestimated
  8. LITTLE DRAGON – Returns to the discipline after being quickly sanctioned in a harness Class C over track and trip a fortnight ago and even though barefoot still looks out of his depth
  9. LASKO DES BROUSSES – Has gone from strength to strength, most recently 3rd of 13 in a harness Class C over track and trip 3.5 weeks ago. Has everything in his favour and Eric Raffin will be eager to break his charge’s monte duck
  10. LORD CATH – Close 2nd to LENSOIS DU DOLLAR (11) before repeating in a Class C under these conditions late-November. Returns fresh and will again be expected to finish in the frame
  11. LENSOIS DU DOLLAR – Transformed since switching codes, most recently tenacious winner of a 2175m Class D here on 19 November. Has been afforded ample time to recover and has a realistic chance of pulling off the hat-trick
Summary: Very hard to fault over recent months, LASKO DES BROUSSES (9) races first-time barefoot, with Eric Raffin in the irons, on his first public start under the saddle and has every chance of making it a successful one. They will still face resistance from a reconfigured, and wonderfully-engaged, LENSOIS DU DOLLAR (11) who is undefeated in 2 monte starts, and the barefoot LORD CATH (10) who will endeavour to put an end to his ‘seconditis’. Damien Bonne takes over on LEBOSS D’HAVAROCHE (5) who sports a new formula for his ridden debut, and should not be far off the mark.
    SELECTIONS
    LASKO DES BROUSSES (9) – LENSOIS DU DOLLAR (11) – LORD CATH (10) – LEBOSS D’HAVAROCHE (5)
    C2 – PRIX RMC (PRIX DE NAUCELLES) – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 43,000
  12. MAGIC LOVE – 3rd of 9, a place behind MAJOR VEDAQUAIS (5), in a 2100m Class C over the short course on 18 December. Has progressed with every run and should again be competitive for a place cheque
  13. MY NAME IS BOND – Reassuring 3rd of 6 to MACHUCAMBO (10) in a 2850m Class C here a month back but still needs to find more
  14. MISTER CHARLY – Capable colt but has not been seen out since finishing last of 12 behind MILAN (9) in a Class B under these conditions late-November and cannot be considered a priority
  15. MANHATTAN EMGE – Makes Vincennes, and left-handed, debut after winning 2 on the trot, most recently a 2650m Bordeaux Class B with ease 3 weeks ago. Faces a tougher task this time but Matthieu Abrivard has stayed faithful
  16. MAJOR VEDAQUAIS – Has started to get back in the game, most recently close 2nd of 9 in a 2100m Class C here 3.5 weeks ago. Is not about to rock the boat but can still pick up a cheque
  17. MINDELO – Here for reasons of conditioning after winning a 2200m monté Class D here late last month and can be passed over
  18. MAESTRO JAMINI – Last but one behind MAKE A DREAM (8) in a 2850m Class A conditioner over the inner track on Christmas Eve. Boasts a good record with his driver and is unlikely to disappoint this time
  19. MAKE A DREAM – Impressive winner over 2175m before running 10th of 12 in a 2850m Class A over the inner track on Christmas Eve. Top pilot brought in for the occasion and can keep his unbeaten main-track record intact
  20. MILAN – Well-regarded colt dropping back in class after finishing last of 11 in a Gr.2 over course and distance on 14 December. Is no slouch on a good day but others still preferred
  21. MACHUCAMBO – Got off the mark in style a month ago, dominating a 2850m Class C over the inner track. Has earned the right to race at this level and enjoys a realistic chance of confirming
  22. MISTER DU CHOQUEL – Has been given time to recalibrate after finishing 6th of 12, a place behind MILAN (9), in a Class B under these conditions late-November. Enjoys a good entry and Paul Ploquin will be keen to make hay
Summary: Runner-up over 2175m before winning like a good thing on the short course a month ago, MACHUCAMBO (10) takes on a better lot this time but still looks good enough to double his money. Back to a more reasonable category, MAKE A DREAM (8) has been entrusted to Eric Raffin for the first time which could well be key to his redemption. MAESTRO JAMINI (7) prepared for this on Christmas Eve and returns to the long course with David Thomain back in the bike. MAGIC LOVE (1) has done everything right so far and is not out of contention.
    SELECTIONS
    MACHUCAMBO (10) – MAKE A DREAM (8) – MAESTRO JAMINI (7) – MAGIC LOVE (1)
    C3 – PRIX DJERID – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr3 Race – Mounted – EUR € 90,000
  23. GREYSON – Takes a considerable step up in category after being sanctioned in a 2100m harness Class D here on 3 January and has no realistic chance
  24. IMPALA DE VAL – 4th of 12 to FILOU D’ANJOU (6) in Gr.3 Prix Yvonnick Bodin over course and distance on 28 December. Barefoot this time and will be expected to apply more pressure. Chance
  25. GRAAL DU TRESOR – Tough type that ran good 3rd of 4 finishers in a Class B over course and distance early last month. Has little room for manoeuvre but still looks competitive for a place cheque
  26. GOOD GIRL MARCEAUX – 12th of 15 behind HIDALGO DES NOES (7) in a 2100m harness Class A when prepping for this early last month. Is shod to preference, has nothing to prove at this level, and looks a viable place prospect once more
  27. FOUGUE DU DOLLAR – Not without merit but will need to show significant improvement on recent 7th of 12 to FILOU D’ANJOU (6) in Gr.3 Prix Yvonnick Bodin over course and distance on 28 December
  28. FILOU D’ANJOU – Convincing winner of Gr.3 Prix Yvonnick Bodin in 1’11”5 over course and distance on 28 December and a similar effort would see him repeat
  29. HIDALGO DES NOES – Pleasantly surprising 3rd, on ridden debut, in a Gr.3 here a month ago before running 8th of 14 in a 2100m harness Class A here last weekend. Not a priority but can still make first 5
  30. HARLEM DE BUCY – Unraced since finishing 9th of 11 under harness over 2300m at Mons late-October. Was beaten only by a very good horse on ridden debut and, shod as he was that day, will be one to watch
  31. FAKIR MERITE – Sanctioned on monte debut before finishing 6th of 8 in a 2650m Bordeaux harness Class A late-December and can expect to have few friends
  32. VAPRIO – Looked decidedly ordinary when 9th of 11 in a 2850m Gr.2 here last weekend and is not about to stir things up
Summary: An excellent servant in this branch of the business, FILOU D’ANJOU (6) ran out a brilliant winner under similar conditions a fortnight ago and if still on the boil can make this his own. Fourth to him on that occasion, IMPALA DE VAL (2) races barefoot this time, has more to give, and should prove the principal danger. As honest as they come, GOOD GIRL MARCEAUX (4) is shod as she was when 2nd in the Gr.3 Prix de l’Ile d’Oléron and must be considered a player.
    SELECTIONS
    FILOU D’ANJOU (6) – IMPALA DE VAL (2) – GOOD GIRL MARCEAUX (4) – GRAAL DU TRESOR (3)
    C4 – PRIX DE BELGIQUE-AMERIQUE RACES Q6 – 2850m (a2m) – Gr2 Race – Harness – EUR € 120,000
  33. IROISE DE LA NOE – 2nd to IT’S A DOLLARMAKER (8) in GNT Final before dominating a 2850m Class D here last Monday. Thrives over 2850m on the main track and will be expected to play a leading role
  34. HAPPY DANICA – 11th of 14 in a 2100m Class A here last Sunday, 3 weeks after having landed a Cagnes Class A. Has never been tested in this class and is not about to disrupt the status quo
  35. HARLEY GEMA – Sanctioned in 2850m monté Gr.2 here last weekend. Takes her chances in elite company this time but appreciates the distance and will generate some interest
  36. J’AIME LE FOOT – 4th of 11 in a 2700m monté Gr.1 here mid-December. Preparing for next week’s monte highlight and can be ruled out
  37. JUNINHO DRY – 5th of 11 to JUST LOVE YOU (11) in 2700m Gr.1 Prix Tenor de Baune here 3 weeks ago. Has significantly more to find in this company, and chances slim
  38. JUSTIN BOLD – Hard to fault this winter, latterly 3rd of 14 in 2100m Gr.2 Prix de Bourgogne here 2 weeks ago. Shoes on this time though and is just here to have the finishing touches applied
  39. IDEAL LIGNERIES – 7th of 14 behind JUSTIN BOLD (6) in 2100m Prix de Bourgogne a fortnight ago after having run 3rd in GNT Final. Is not about to spring a surprise but should nevertheless hold his own
  40. IT’S A DOLLARMAKER – Superb winner, giving away 25m, of 2850m Gr.2 GNT Final here on 1 December. Amerique was an afterthought but he has the class to win a race of this nature and Eric Raffin will be eager to prove the point
  41. MISTER HERCULES – Victim of a traffic jam when going well in Prix de Bourgogne, finishing 9th of 14. Will have found his feet after his French introduction and is not to be ignored
  42. HAPPY AND LUCKY – Last but one when being conditioned in Prix de Bourgogne. Has Prix de Cornulier as next objective and can be ruled out
  43. JUST LOVE YOU – Qualified with a dominant 2700m Gr.1 Prix Tenor de Baune success here 3 weeks ago. Races shod this time and is just being kept on the boil for the big day
  44. INMAROSA – Endured a difficult race, finishing an unlucky 11th in Prix de Bourgogne a fortnight ago. Form is not in question however and should not be far from the action if Leo Abrivard keeps her out of trouble
  45. DON FANUCCI ZET – 5th in Bourbonnais before finishing lacklustre 10th of 14 behind JUSTIN BOLD (6) in 2100m Gr.2 Prix de Bourgogne here 2 weeks ago. Services of Jean-Michel Bazire have been employed for the occasion and warrants respect
  46. AMPIA MEDE SM – Sanctioned in Prix du Bourbonnais over course and distance on 8 December. Has nothing to prove at this level and can get in on the action if Vincenzo d’Alessandro Jr keeps her focused
  47. HOOKER BERRY – 9th of 15 in 2850m Gr.2 Prix du Bourbonnais on 8 December. Needs to convince after that run but in less-exalted company this time and can contest the finish
Summary: Simply superb in both starts this winter, IT’S A DOLLARMAKER (8) routed the opposition in the GNT Final early last month and, better than ever, contests his first B qualifier with every chance of imposing. Valiant runner-up to him that day before dominating his course-and-distance prep race, IROISE DE LA NOE (1) is barefoot for the occasion and again looks the main threat. HOOKER BERRY (15) is under no pressure to qualify but still looks competitively well-in. AMPIA MEDE SM (14) has assured her spot in the Prix d’Amérique but starts for (another) new trainer and looks up to the job of making the first 4.
    SELECTIONS
    IT’S A DOLLARMAKER (8) – IROISE DE LA NOE (1) – HOOKER BERRY (15) – AMPIA MEDE SM (14)
    C5 – PRIX DE CAVAILLON – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000
  48. KADOR JOSSELYN – Left quite the impression when victorious in a Class D over course and distance early last month. Not the easiest to handle but has bags of ability and despite the draw still looks the one to beat
  49. KAN DURAN – Beat a number of these here mid-November prior to running 5th of 13 in a 2850m Class D here on 4 December. No foreign threats to contend with this time and will be expected to contest the finish
  50. KAMOUR – 12th of 14 behind KING DE LARRE (13) in a 2700m Class C conditioner here 2 weeks ago. Unraced over 2100m here but has won over 2150m at Cagnes and, from the 3-spot, looks a player
  51. KAKOU CAYENNAIS – Sanctioned in a 2850m Class D here on 4 December after having dominated a 2700m Class D a fortnight earlier. Handed the plum spot in front and, with application, can make first 5
  52. KATSUMOTO – Disappointing in 2 since running 4th over track and trip mid-November, latterly sanctioned in a 2150m Cagnes Class D a month ago, and even though reconfigured will have little to offer
  53. KNOK – 11th of 14 behind KING DE LARRE (13) in a 2700m Class C conditioner here 2 weeks ago. Barefoot this time, with respectable course-and-distance references to his name, but still no more than a minor place prospect
  54. KENTUCKY SOMOLLI – 6th of 15, a place behind KAN DURAN (2), in a 2850m Class D here on 4 December. Has raced and placed under these conditions and will be expected to challenge for a spot in the frame
  55. KANT – Showed improvement when 4th of 12 in a 2550m Bordeaux Class D on 27 December. Has previously won under these conditions but sports just front pads this time and is unlikely to cause an upset
  56. KAPITANO DE LOU – In the frame in 2 before faulting in a 2150m Cagnes Class D mid-December. Has no particular liking for Vincennes and the draw will do him no favours
  57. KADOR DU MONT – Won here mid-November before running 3rd to of 14 to KADOR JOSSELYN (1) in a Class D over track and trip on 5 December. Has ground to make up but sports a new configuration and will be worth monitoring
  58. KANDEL DE BEYLEV – Unsure of stride when 8th of 13 in 4 December race of reference. Appears to be in shape though and will not be far off the mark if Yoann Lebourgeois keeps him focused
  59. KILLER FOR LOVA – Sanctioned early in a 2700m Class D here on Christmas Day. Not ideally-drawn and would be preferred at a lower level
  60. KING DE LARRE – 2nd of 14 to KADOR JOSSELYN (1) early-December before coming 5th of 14 in a 2700m Class C here a fortnight ago. Obliged to break from 2nd row this time but still looks competitively well-in
  61. KALMIO DE LOU – Reassuring 5th of 10 behind KAMOUR (3) in a 2175m Class D here a month back. Is first-time barefoot but has been handed a rough draw and others preferred
  62. KASSIDY KID – Unraced since finishing 7th of 10 in a 2150m Vichy Class D last June. Barefoot for re-entry but has no possible chance
  63. KHEOPS SAINT CLAIR – Surprise 2nd of 10 in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E 3 weeks ago but has nothing to offer this time
Summary: Highly-impressive winner under these conditions early last month, KADOR JOSSELYN (1) is forced to start on the rail this time but is still going to take all the beating. JMB will still want to be wary of the better-positioned KAN DURAN (2) who boasts good references over 2100m here, and the in-form KAMOUR (3) who is barefoot following a late-December conditioner. KENTUCKY SOMOLLI (7) has 3 runs under his belt, races first-time barefoot, and even though handed the 7-spot, still looks good enough to finish in the mix.
    SELECTIONS
    KADOR JOSSELYN (1) – KAN DURAN (2) – KAMOUR (3) – KENTUCKY SOMOLLI (7)
    C6 – PRIX DE TOULOUSE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 46,000
  64. GONNABE SHADOW – Came 2nd but could possibly have won a 2700m Class D here late last month had she been afforded a run. Is patently close to her best and will be expected to give FREEDOM (NOR) (7) a run for his money
  65. IMOKO ATOUT – Sanctioned more often than not these days, most recently in a 2725m Graignes Class E late-December, and can expect to have few takers
  66. IMAGE D’ATALANTE – Was plainly going well when sanctioned in a 2700m Class D here a fortnight ago. Reunited with Franck Nivard with whom she has won twice and even though reconfigured can still make first 5
  67. IZIO DU POMMEREUX – 3rd of 9 to INDICE DU CAIEU (6) in a Class E over course and distance last weekend and will need to find significantly more this time
  68. SANGRIA PELLINI – Missed out on the hat-trick when 2nd of 6 over 2500m in Berlin 2 weeks ago. Is new to the venue but consistently gives everything she has and from the 5-spot can trot her way onto the podium
  69. INDICE DU CAIEU – Won for just 2nd time over the main track when successful in a Class E over track and trip last weekend. In this category though, will have too much to do
  70. FREEDOM (NOR) – Ran 4th over 2100m before coming 3rd of 8, a place behind OSCAR VAN HALBEEK (10), in a 2700m Class D here a fortnight back. Eric Raffin in the bike this time and can return to winning ways
  71. IMAGE D’HERFRAIE – Fast-finishing winner of a Class E over course and distance last Monday. Not as well-positioned this time but is a game mare and deserves to be taken seriously
  72. CANADIAN KRONOS – Useful mare but has not been seen out since finishing 12th of 13 in a 2700m Class C here last March and will need the race
  73. OSCAR VAN HALBEEK – Sprang something of a surprise when 2nd of 8 in a 2700m Class D here a fortnight ago. Has previously posted 1’10”9 under these conditions and will not be available at 26/1 this time
Summary: FREEDOM (NOR) (7) may not have stuck his nose in front since last April but he has taken a liking to the main track and, entrusted to the trainer’s brother for the occasion, can start making up for lost time. GONNABE SHADOW (1) was very unlucky here 2 weeks ago, has decent credentials under these conditions, and is eminently capable of putting things right. The versatile SANGRIA PELLINI (5) has been plying her trade nicely in Berlin recently and makes her Vincennes debut with legitimate ambition.
    SELECTIONS
    FREEDOM (NOR) (7) – GONNABE SHADOW (1) – SANGRIA PELLINI (5) – OSCAR VAN HALBEEK (10)
    C7 – PRIX DU JURA – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 75,000
  74. GILMOUR – 2nd in last 2, both of course and distance, latterly of 10 in a Class B on 14 December. Put in an excellent time that day and has already won for Alexandre Abrivard. Place chance
  75. FORBACH – Not disgraced when 6th of 14 behind HAPPYJO DE LIGNY (3) in a 2925m Cagnes Class B on 28 December. Has references here, starts in front, and can get a look-in
  76. HAPPYJO DE LIGNY – Returns to conditions he appreciates after coming 4th of 14 in a 2925m Cagnes Class B on 28 December. Known for his finishing speed and from the 3-spot will be no pushover
  77. GAZOLINE DU SEUX – Ran 3rd to GLOIRE DU PERCHE (9) late-November before coming 4th of 13 to HULYSSE DIGEO (6) in a 2850m Class D here on 13 December. Handed a fine draw but would be preferred barefoot
  78. HUBBLE DU VIVIER – Ran superb 2nd in a Class B here before coming 4th of 10 in a 2850m Class A, also here, on 28 December. Has a lot going for him this time, has won 2 from 4 over course and distance, and looks the pick of the field
  79. HULYSSE DIGEO – Steps up in category after having won 3 of last 4, most recently a 2850m Class D with ease here on 13 December. Shoes on this time but is still eminently capable of making first 5
  80. GINKGO THELOIS – Shod to preference after running 5th of 14, a place behind HAPPYJO DE LIGNY (3), in a 2925m Cagnes Class B on 28 December but has done nothing of note at Vincennes for some time
  81. HERADAMES – Last of 10 behind HUBBLE DU VIVIER (5) when preparing for this in a 2850m Class A here a fortnight ago. Is in competition mode and David Thomain will be eager to capitalise
  82. GLOIRE DU PERCHE – Won over course and distance late-November before coming a comfortable 3rd of 13 to HULYSSE DIGEO (6) in a 2850m Class D here on 13 December. Is plainly in form but the draw narrows her to a minor place chance
  83. FAST CASH – Starts for first time since coming 3rd of 9 in a 2700m monté Class C on 3 December 2023 and will have other priorities
  84. HANDY BOURBON – Last but one in a Class A over course and distance last weekend. Has been out of sorts for some time and can be written off
  85. GINKO DU ROUSSOIR – Disappointing 8th of 13 behind GABELOU CARISAIE (13) in a 2650m Bordeaux Class D 3 weeks ago. On back line and has nothing to offer
  86. GABELOU CARISAIE – Showed improvement when 5th of 13 in a 2650m Bordeaux Class D 3 weeks ago but has never excelled at Vincennes and is not about to start now
  87. HABIT DE SOIREE – Tenacious winner of a Class D under these conditions on 7 December, on first start with Mathieu Mottier. Comes here fresh and although forced to start on back line, still has the wherewithal to pick up a cheque
  88. HARDI CROWN – 5th of 13 in a Class D over track and trip last weekend. Has been on a fine run of form for some time but has been drawn badly and is unlikely to shake things up
  89. GUMP DU PONCELET – Has 2 runs in him following a lengthy hiatus, most recently last but one in a 2850m Class C here 11 days ago. Is still being conditioned and best to hold off
Summary: More than capable over these shorter trips and entrusted to JMB for the occasion, HUBBLE DU VIVIER (5) is nicely-positioned behind the car and may just have the edge over the battle-hardened HAPPYJO DE LIGNY (3) who is hard to fault under these conditions. GILMOUR (1) ran a good 2nd over track and trip last month and even though obliged to start on the rail, he has excellent speed and will not go down easily. HERADAMES (8) enjoys a terrific entry here and, barefoot for the occasion, will have his chances if David Thomain positions him early.
    SELECTIONS
    HUBBLE DU VIVIER (5) – HAPPYJO DE LIGNY (3) – GILMOUR (1) – HERADAMES (8)
    C8 – PRIX DE RIBERAC – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 80,000
  90. FUNNY GIRL (ITY) – Produced a fine performance on Vincennes debut, coming 3rd of 11 to LA STAR ROC (8) in 2100m Gr.3 Prix Albert Rayon here on 15 December. Front shoes off this time and in similar shape will not be going home empty-handed
  91. LOVELY DU VALLON – Quality mare that ran 5th of 7 to LADY DADA (7) in a Class A over course and distance on 3 January. Very unlucky that day, races first-time barefoot, and can finish in the mix if Franck Nivard keeps her out of trouble
  92. LIZY JOSSELYN – Sanctioned when unsupported in 3 January race of reference and can be confidently disregarded
  93. LA VIE A DEUX – Good class of filly that was never at her ease in Gr.3 Prix Albert Rayon, finishing last but one. Boasts excellent references over course and distance and a place on the podium is well within her reach
  94. LITTLE STAR FLEURY – Respectable 3rd of 7 to LADY DADA (7) in a Class A over course and distance on 3 January but is unlikely to spring any surprises this time
  95. LUSH LIFE – Below-par so far this term, latterly 6th of 11 to LA STAR ROC (8) in 2100m Gr.3 Prix Albert Rayon here on 15 December. Is proven at a superior level, and races barefoot this time, but must first re-establish her credentials
  96. LADY DADA – Unbeaten in 3 starts on the main track this winter, all over course and distance, most recently with authority in a Class A on 3 January. Has a lot more to give and will be a tough nut to crack
  97. LA STAR ROC – Held off LOUVE DE REVE D’OR (9) to win 2100m Gr.3 Prix Albert Rayon here on 15 December. Shoes off for first time and although unlikely to repeat, should still figure prominently
  98. LOUVE DE REVE D’OR – Has been knocking at the door this winter, latterly 2nd of 11 to LA STAR ROC (8) in 2100m Gr.3 Prix Albert Rayon here on 15 December. Has placed in superior company and will be expected to contest the finish
Summary: Quite the revelation here this winter, LADY DADA (7) made short work of a Class A over course and distance early this month and looks set to secure her first black-type. Benjamin Rochard will still be keeping an eye on the well-engaged, clearly in-form, and first-time-barefoot LOUVE DE REVE D’OR (9) who will be out to turn the tables on a similarly-unshod LA STAR ROC (8) who had her measure in the Gr.3 Prix Albert Rayon here mid-December.
    SELECTIONS
    LADY DADA (7) – LOUVE DE REVE D’OR (9) – LA STAR ROC (8) – LA VIE A DEUX (4)
    C9 – PRIX DE FRESNES – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000
  99. LINO DU POMMEREUX – Useful sort but sanctioned in last 2 here, latterly a 2200m Class D on 4 December. Races first-time barefoot, has been entrusted to Eric Raffin, and can start to get back in the game
  100. LEGACY JIEL – 4th of 11 in a 2700m Class D here on 27 December. Shoes off this time and the draw will only work in his favour. First 5
  101. LOVE DANCER – Sanctioned in 27 December race of reference. Has little love for the venue and has no possible chance
  102. L’AMOUR D’ETANG – Would have finished 6th had he not faulted in a 2700m Class D here on 27 December. Is clearly much better than that and from the 4-spot will be dangerous, provided he stays in stride
  103. LE TAJ MAHAL – Close 2nd of 12 in a 2175m Class E here on 21 December. Enjoys a superb entry and David Thomain can be confident of another big run
  104. LE BOSS DANOVER – Last of 9 on re-entry behind LUMINEUX (8) in a Class E over course and distance on 3 January. Goes barefoot for first time but still not an obvious choice
  105. LISKI DE LA CRIERE – Unexceptional sort that finished 6th of 11 behind LEGACY JIEL (2) in a 2700m Class D here on 27 December. Front shoes off for first time but others still preferred
  106. LUMINEUX – Continued his solid run of form when 4th of 9 in a Class E over course and distance on 3 January. Anthony Barrier at the helm this time and will be no easy touch if he positions him early
  107. L’AMOUR – Comfortable 2nd of 10 in a 2700m Class E here 12 days ago. Will have come on for the run, has talent in spades, and even though drawn wide on front line will take some beating
  108. LAOS JIEL – Was already in trouble when disqualified in a 2700m Class D here on 27 December. Hind shoes off this time but the draw only compounds matters
  109. LOCO FLIGNY – Sports a new configuration after running a reassuring 2nd of 8 in a 2850m Class E over short course on Christmas Eve. Handed a tough draw but with some luck in running can pick up some prizemoney
  110. LEOLIO – Showed improvement when 4th of 12 behind LE TAJ MAHAL (5) in a 2175m Class E here on 21 December. Unlikely to improve on that but is first-time barefoot and should be able to hold his own
  111. LE GOLDEN PHYT’S – Lacklustre 6th of 10 behind L’AMOUR (9) in a 2700m Class E here on 31 December. Goes barefoot this time but still faces a stiff test
Summary: Runner-up on his re-entry, and Vincennes debut, late last month, L’AMOUR (9) has clearly progressed over the autumn and, barefoot this time, should be able to wrap this up. Starting just to his inside, LUMINEUX (8) has taken well to main-track conditions and should logically finish closer than he did earlier in the month. LE TAJ MAHAL (5) made up 3 weeks ago for his sanctioned Vincennes debut and racing unshod-behind and breaking from the 5-spot will do his chances no disservice. Sanctioned as often as not but plainly a colt for the future, L’AMOUR D’ETANG (4) has been shod similarly and, with application, can make a big splash.

Summary: NEVA (1) got off the mark after consistent efforts over hurdles with a narrow success over 3500m at this track in mid-December. She is preferred to ASTROLOGER (3) who lost nothing in defeat when he was second in a Class 1 hurdle at this track on December 21st. Summary: DANCING QUEEN (2) ran well when she was second recently at Lyon La Soie 6 days ago and can play a leading role in this handicap. FEDYANE (1) was not up to Listed Class on her last start, in much calmer this time she is best judged on her pleasing second at Toulouse over 2400m in September on her penultimate outing. Summary: HIP HOP CONTI (1) seems to come alive at this racecourse. He scored on all four of his runs at this track last year over various trips. He will be a short-odds favorite to keep up his winning streak. SAINT GODEFROY (2) is also a course specialist. He scored on his latest two starts, the latest a Class 1 cross-country over 4700m on December 11th. UNIKETAT (5) was second to the main selection when they met in February 2023 at this track.
