Summary: ROSE MELIMELO (9) won a claiming chase at this track in late December on her last start and will have no issues with the return to hurdles. She looks like the best option for this claimer. KARMA DE REVE (1) could be the main threat. He has decent form over hurdles in non-claimers and was second two runs back in a Class 3 hurdle in early December. KARESSE DU LARGE (18) can be on the premises at the business end. HARGNAR (4) is dangerous to rule out.

Summary: Classy hurdler JAPON (5) will have been well-schooled since his mishap at Auteuil on his chase debut in April. He has been given some time and should be able to get off the mark over fences this time. JOUR DE TONERRE (1) can keep the selection honest and was a credible fourth over this track in a hurdle race when last seen on Christmas Day. He won over fences in September. JAGUAR DU LARGE (3) and JUSTE UNE D’ATHOU (6) both warrant respect and can duel for minor honours.

She has dropped in the handicap and is the tentative selection ahead of LE RAFALE (13) who was one place ahead of her when they met in the same race last time. - HIMBERLAND – Not disgraced when 5th in class E at Beaumont-de-Lomagne over 2550m on December. Might play a minor role
- HERMES D’ECROVILLE – Finished 12th in class C at Vincennes over 2850m on 1 January. Barefoot and is capable of making the frame
Summary: GO GARFIELD (5) is in good shape and impressed at Argentan so could follow up in a similar race. HERCULE DE LEAU (10) struggled last time out but is barefoot and ready to be a lively danger. GIANA DE MARZY (14) is better judged on the winning performance in December so the last run might best be ignored. GIBALDI DE HOUELLE (12) is another that could surprise on best form.

- IBERA – Finished 11th in Class D at Laval over 2850m on 1 November. Capable of doing better but others make more appeal
Summary: JERENAL D’HAMELINE (10) has shone over long distances and can score again to take out this lucky last race. JUSTICIA GLAM (8) struggled last time out but is unshod so could be a danger this time. JAGUAR D’OBRET (7) disappointed at Vincennes but was in good shape before that and can contest the finish. - JONGLEUSE DE BRY – Has not been seen out since completing the double in a Class F over course and distance last July. Is a class above most here, is behind in earnings, and could set the cat among the pigeons
- JEZILDA MAUVE – Ran 2nd of 12 in a monte Class F over course and distance last Sunday only to be subsequently disqualified. In this company however, will have limited prospects
- JIMOKA – Sanctioned early in 28 December race of reference. Shoes back on and no threat
- JOY JELOCA – Strangely lacklustre 9th of 14 to JONCQUIERE (15) in a Class F over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Is very useful when focused but others still easier to back
- JUST PRETTY ONE – Failed to pull off the hat-trick when unluckily sanctioned in a Class F over course and distance late last month, but can redeem herself if kept out of trouble. Place chance
- JADE DALAMEDA – 8th of 14 to JONCQUIERE (15), on first start for 2 months, in a Class F over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Pads fitted this time but still has no realistic chance
- JOIA DE PIENCOURT – Oddly below-par 7th of 15 behind JAIKA DES FANES in a Class E over course and distance 11 days ago. Is plainly in form and should not be condemned, and Junior Guelpa will be out to set the record straight
- JANE LUIS PORSGUEN – Got back in the game at Toulouse a fortnight ago coming 2nd of 11 in a 2750m Class F. Placed in one of 2 here but others still preferred
- JOLIE MOME CHIC – 4th of 15 behind JAIKA DES FANES (13) in a Class E under these conditions earlier this month and, with form maintained, will have a part to play
- JOLIE DU LOIR – Showed marked improvement when 3rd of 14 to JONCQUIERE (15) in a Class F over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Unlikely to get her nose in front but has the ability to make first 5
- JASMINE WINNER – In the frame in 5 of last 6, most recently 3rd of 15, a place behind JAIKA DES FANES, in a Class E over course and distance earlier this month. Unlikely to cause an upset but should nevertheless hold her own
- JOY FOR EVER – Last of 10 when prepping for this in a Class D over track and trip last Sunday. Barefoot this time, has raced and placed here, but would be preferred a level down
- JAIKA DES FANES – Cagnes-loving mare that ran 2nd of 15 in a Class E under these conditions on 6 January. Will be at peak fitness by now and should be able to wrap this up
- JIFF LINE – Last of 12 behind JAIKA DES FANES (13) when being conditioned in a Class E under these conditions earlier this month. Races barefoot this time but still appears to be taking on too much
- JONCQUIERE – Comfortable winner of a Class F over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Enjoys a terrific entry and will be expected to contest the finish once more
Summary: Never easy to derail when focused, JAIKA DES FANES (13) has taken no time getting back in shape, sports a new configuration for the occasion, and should have the measure of the field. JONCQUIERE (15) achieved her first goal of the season though and races barefoot again. Unfortunate not to secure the 3-timer here late last month, JUST PRETTY ONE (5) will be driven by his handler this time who will be expected to put things right. Lightly-campaigned and unseen since last July, JONGLEUSE DE BRY (1) is barefoot for her re-entry and, if tuned-up, could even win this.

- JAZZ IN BELLAY – 10th of 15 behind JACKPOT DES MONTS (7) in a 2150m Class F here a month ago. Sports 4 pads for first time but still not an obvious choice
- JASMIN BLEU – Last of 15 behind JACKPOT DES MONTS (7) in a 2150m Class F here a month ago. Is plainly off the boil and can be disregarded
- JOYAU DE MAX – 9th in race of reference on just 2nd start back. Should be race-fit by now but still seems to be biting off more than he can chew
- JINGALO DU CHENE – Sanctioned in 26 December race of reference. Has been off his porridge for some time and must first reassure
- JUNO JIEL – Made amends for Parilly sanction when 3rd of 10 finishers, a place behind JUST SIXTY ONE (15), in a Class F under these conditions on 26 December. Unlikely to win this but will not be sent out at 37/1 either
- JACKPOT DES MONTS – Finished well to win a 2750m Toulouse Class F a fortnight ago. Races shod this time, passed his Cagnes test last month, and will be expected to apply the pressure on JUST SIXTY ONE (15)
- JEAN D’HOLLENBOURG – Takes his chances here for first time after having finished last of 11 in a 2850m Vincennes Class E 2 weeks ago. Is patently better than that and can go close if he keeps trotting
- JEEK D’ACADIE – Returns to Cagnes after being sanctioned in a 2700m Class E at Lyon-La Soie last Saturday and will struggle to make any impression
- JAGUAR JENILOU – 4th of 10 finishers behind JUST SIXTY ONE (15) in a Class F under these conditions on 26 December. Is plainly in fine form and, although not a contender, can still pick up a cheque
- JAPPELOU DU SOIR – Makes first appearance since finishing 6th of 14 in a 2725m Grenade Class F on 24 November. Shoes off this time but others still easier to trust
- JUMBO DES PRES – Returns to racing barefoot after finishing last of 12 behind JOE TEJY (14) in a Class E over course and distance on 28 December. Boasts decent Cagnes references however and should not be written off
- JAGOAR DU TRIEUX – Has evident talent but not the most reliable, most recently finishing 7th of 11 in a 2950m Toulouse Class D 2 weeks ago but, if focused, can finish in the mix
- JOE TEJY – Won 4 in a row before running 3rd of 15 in a Class E over course and distance 3 weeks ago. In slightly better company this time but should still be thereabouts at the finish
- JUST SIXTY ONE – Imposed at Vivaux before running 2nd of 10 finishers in a Class F under these conditions on 26 December. Could not have wished for a better entry and Nicolas Mourot will be eager to take advantage
Summary: Wonderfully-engaged at the limit of earnings, JUST SIXTY ONE (15) went close here late last month and just gets the nod ahead of a shod JACKPOT DES MONTS (7) who has won 3 of his last 4. JEAN D’HOLLENBOURG (8) should not be too hastily-judged for his recent Vincennes run and will appreciate a return to a more even surface. Like a horse reborn since the autumn, JOE TEJY (14) is unlikely to disappoint.

- JUST FOR FUN – 6th of 12 when being conditioned in a Class D under these conditions last weekend. Shoes on again and is unlikely to cause an upset
- ILLUSTRE SAX – Has thrived since moving yards, most recently 4th of 16 in a Class F under these conditions 11 days ago, and should again figure prominently
- IPSI DE BENAC – 7th of 13 in a 2950m Toulouse Class F 10 days ago. Has looked very ordinary since returning to competition and must raise his game
- JOCKSTRAP – Not without merit but will need to show marked improvement on his 8th of 16 in a Class C under these conditions 3 weeks ago
- JOB DU PERSIL – 4th of 14 in a Class E over course and distance last Sunday. In better company this time but the head-start will only work to his advantage. Place chance
- IMBRIN BUROIS – 3rd here last month prior to faulting early in a Class E over course and distance last week. Sports a new configuration for the occasion and on better behaviour can get in on the action
- ITALIA DRY – Out of the picture in last 4, latterly 10th of 15 in a Class E over course and distance last week. Enjoys a good entry on front line and could well get a look-in
- ISABEY QUESNOT – 12th of 15 behind ITALIA DRY (8) in a Class E over track and trip on 9 January. Reverts to a previous formula but still represents no more than a minor place prospect
- JUDICIOUS WINNER – Classy trotter making just 3rd start following an extended absence, most recently sanctioned in a Class C over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Is still in conditioning mode and best to wait
- JOLIE SURPRISE – 4th of 13 in a 2850m Vincennes Class A a fortnight ago. Is head-and-shoulders more capable than most others here and can impose
- JAGUAR WIT – Last of 12 finishers in a Class C over course and distance late last month and quite simply has no place in this field
- JAVANAISE TURGOT – Highly-consistent mare making first appearance since winning a 3000m Borely Class A mid-December. Shoes on and no threat
- IRU FUSHI – In the frame in last 3, latterly 2nd of 14 in a 2150m Class D here on 21 December. Boasts a fine record at the venue and will be expected to contest the finish
- IRISH NICE ELGE – Sanctioned when preparing for this in a Class C over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Will be fit by now, appreciates Cagnes conditions, and can finish close
- IDEFIX DE CENTULE – 3rd of 14, a place behind IRU FUSHI (14), in a 2150m Class D here on 21 December. Shoes on this time though and will have other priorities
Summary: A quality mare with solid references at this level, JOLIE SURPRISE (11) showed her form at Vincennes earlier in the month and debuts at Cagnes with every chance of making it a winning one. She will however be pitted against IRU FUSHI (14) who is plainly close to his race, and IRISH NICE ELGE (15) who now has 2 races under his belt. JOB DU PERSIL (6) steps up in category but is 25m better off and David Békaert will be keen to make hay.

C4 – PRIX JAG DE BELLOUET – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 43,000 - HEROS DES MOTTES – 2nd of 12 when preparing for this in a 2925m monté Class D here on Boxing Day. Steps marginally up in category but in current form is easy to recommend. Chance
- ELIXIR DE CRENNES – 9th of 15 behind GANGSTER DAVANESS (8) in a 2925m Class B here 3 weeks ago. Nicely-positioned in front though, goes barefoot this time, and should generate some interest
- FILARETE DU VERGER – Drops in category after running 3rd of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Class B last Saturday. Enjoys an excellent draw and can play a leading role
- EAGLE EYES – Last but one behind GANGSTER DAVANESS (8) in a 2925m Class B here 3 weeks ago. Hind shoes off this time but can still be passed over
- GYS – Left a good impression a fortnight ago winning a 2100m Vincennes Class D. Enjoys a 100% record here and is well-placed to make a big impact
- GAMIN DES PERDRIX – 12th of 13 finishers in a 2925m Gr.3 here last week. Starts in front but would be preferred barefoot
- FRONSAC – Last of 13 in a 2925m Gr.3 here last week. Has made no impact since October and even racing barefoot, is not about to start
- GANGSTER DAVANESS – Unplaced in last 3, most recently 8th of 15 in a 2925m Class B here 3 weeks ago, and is not about to shake things up
- GABY DES VALS – Trounced the opposition in a 2925m claimer here last Sunday but in this company has no possible chance
- FUTUR DU CHENE – 5th of 15 in a 2925m Class D here last week. Put in an excellent finish that day and in spite of a tough draw, will not be far off the mark
- ERMES DE CORDAY – Got back in the game when 2nd of 15 in a 2925m Class D here on 21 December. Sent out with front pads this time however and others preferred
- GARDON – Flew up in a 2150m Class D here on 6 January. Forced to start on 2nd line but adores these conditions and a good break would see him go close
- FEEL GOOD DESBOIS – 11th of 15 behind FUTUR DU CHENE (10) in a 2925m Class D here last week. Races barefoot this time and should acquit himself honourably
- GALANT DE CAREL – Held his own when 4th of 11 in a 2650m Bordeaux Class A 3 weeks ago. Makes Cagnes debut on his 90th start and although handed a tough draw, can still play a small part
- GARUDA FLIGNY – 5th of 7 over 2100m at Wolvega early last month. Allocated a poor draw and can be confidently ruled out
- HIGH FIRE DAIRPET – Failed to confirm December victory when 7th of 15 behind FUTUR DU CHENE (10) in a 2925m Class D here last week. Handed a rough draw but is shod to preference and is certainly good enough to make first 5
Summary: FILARETE DU VERGER (3) has been firing on all cylinders lately, most recently defied her odds in Paris, and from the 3-spot should have the wherewithal to get her nose in front. That said, GYS (5) won smartly at Vincennes earlier in the month, won his only Cagnes start, and will be no pushover. A veritable metronome when barefoot, HEROS DES MOTTES (1) went close here in late-December and despite the inside draw, still looks a serious proposition. GARDON (12) simply excels at Cagnes-sur-Mer and will be dangerous if Romain Derieux can defy the draw.

C5 – PRIX DE L’AQUITAINE – 2925m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 22,000 - KELLY DU RIL – Missed out by little in a Class E under these conditions on Boxing Day. Steps up in category but will have come on for the run and can make this her own
- KOMSI KOMSA – Surprise 3rd of 11 in a Class F under these conditions 3.5 weeks ago but a repeat seems improbable
- KELISSA D’AVE – 7th of 13 in a 2700m Vincennes Class E a fortnight ago. Has been out of sorts for some time and can be passed over
- KALINE DE SOYORA – Made it 2 straight sanctions after faulting in a 2150m Class E here 11 days ago. Can trot when applied and should not be ruled out
- KAICHA – Ran 3rd at Vivaux before faulting in a Class D over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Form is not in question and can get in on the action if she stays in stride
- KARA MARIS – 4th in race of reference before being sanctioned, when full of running, in a Class E over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Faces a tougher bunch this time but, if given the opportunity, can get a look-in
- KEADYE CASH DU DAN – 4th of 16 in a 2150m Class E here on 6 January. Is in her category and is unlikely to be far from the action
- KYRIELLE PRINCESSE – Failed to confirm Lyon-La Soie performance when sanctioned in a 2650m Vivaux Class F on Tuesday and backs up with limited aspiration
- KATE – Last of 13, on re-entry, in a 2850m Vincennes Class D on 29 November. The run will have done him good and should prove significantly more competitive this time
- KACY AND GEPE – 7th of 9 finishers on return to competition in a Class D over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Races barefoot this time and will have claims on a first-5 payout
- KISMIE GRIFF – Sanctioned when clearly going well in a Class E over course and distance on 26 December, but with application can give KELLY DU RIL (1) a run for her money
- KATCHINA – Won 2 from 3 prior to running 5th of 17 behind KELLY DU RIL (1) in a Class E under these conditions on Boxing Day. Is not about to win this but can still compete for a place in the frame
- KRISTAL VICTORY – 4th of 16 in a monte Class E over course and distance a fortnight ago. Here for reasons of conditioning and has nothing to offer
- KYARA – Sanctioned in a Class D over course and distance 2 weeks ago and, considering her form, will have nothing to contribute
Summary: Winner of her first 2, and 2nd on re-entry following a lengthy layoff, KELLY DU RIL (1) will have progressed for the race and looks to have the measure of the tricky, but more experienced, KISMIE GRIFF (11) who showed her form despite being sanctioned that day. Barefoot following an easy comeback here late-November, KATE (9) comes here fresh, barefoot, and with a realistic chance of making the frame. KEADYE CASH DU DAN (7) has done nothing but improve lately and will again be competitive for a spot on the podium.

- LEONARDO TURGOT – Made up for Vincennes blip when 4th of 13 in a Class D over 2925m here mid-December. Has freshness on his side and should prove good enough to pick up a minor place cheque
- LEKEVIN DESBOIS – 2nd of 15 in a 2150m Class E here 3 weeks ago. Failed to fire on lone start over a similar trip but has looked a different horse since the break and will not be far off the mark
- LAPS GEDE – Totally out of sorts since the break, latterly sanctioned in a 2925m Class A here on 21 December. Enjoys a good draw, and races barefoot, but others still preferred
- LELOUP VALLEE – 3rd of 15, a place behind LEKEVIN DESBOIS (3), in a 2150m Class E here 3 weeks ago. Barefoot for first time but will struggle to repeat
- LAOS DE BANVILLE – Out of the picture in last 6 starts, most recently 7th of 10 finishers behind LE REVE D’OLMEN (7) in a 2150m Class E here on 28 December, and can be ruled out
- LE REVE D’OLMEN – Serious sort that finished a good 2nd of 12 in a 2150m Class E here on 28 December. Starts wide on front line but has demonstrated good versatility and can take his win-rate to 60 percent
- LOOKING SIXTY ONE – Talented but tricky colt that was sanctioned in a 2650m Vivaux Class E early-November. Has been afforded time to recalibrate and, even racing shod, should not be overlooked
- LOU PRESTANCE – Runner-up here in December but quickly sanctioned next time in a Class E over 2925m here last Sunday. Is plainly a capable colt and will be expected to play an active role
- LOYAL SIXTY ONE – Sanctioned in all 4 starts to date, latterly a 2925m Class E here last weekend, and can be confidently disregarded
- LUTIN DE BOISNEY – Sanctioned in both starts here, most recently a 2925m Class E last weekend. Has evident merit but others easier to trust
- LONGWOOD D’HERIPRE – Has not been seen out since completing the double in a Class F over 2925m here last August. Hind shoes off for re-entry and if sufficiently fit can bring home the bacon
Summary: A number of decent elements here but a marginal preference must nevertheless go to the improving LE REVE D’OLMEN (7) who races without hind shoes after having gone close here late last month. Unbeaten in 2 starts to date, both over course and distance, LONGWOOD D’HERIPRE (12) is similarly unshod for the occasion and even though starting on the 2nd line will be no soft touch. LE MIRACLE (1) has not put a foot wrong since his sanctioned debut and should take well to Cagnes conditions. LEKEVIN DESBOIS (3) is not far from winning another and his recent performance here bodes well for his chances.

- LAZULITE GEDE – Blows hot and cold but defied her odds when 4th of 16 in a 2150m Class E here a fortnight back. Shoes off this time and is well-placed to give this a good go
- LA HORSE – 6th of 10 finishers behind LOVELY HONEY (1) in a 2925m Class D here 11 days ago. Enjoys an excellent spot behind the car and, racing barefoot this time, is unlikely to disappoint

- LHOCIEMA – 4th of 11 finishers in a 2150m Class E here 3 weeks ago despite faulting early. Has talent in spades and will have this in the bag if she deigns to stay in stride
- LOLA DU CHERISAY – 4th of 12 in a 2700m Lyon-La Soie Class E last Saturday. Always gives her best but handed an unfavourable draw and chances limited
- LAVAMA – Won over 2925m here before finishing 6th of 16 behind LAZULITE GEDE (2) in a 2150m Class E here 2 weeks ago. Unlikely to have another day in the sun but should nonetheless hold her own
- LUMINA JIEL – Has merit but sanctioned more often than not, most recently a 2150m Class E here 3 weeks ago, and is unlikely to spring any surprises
Summary: A winner going both directions and recently eye-catching here following a troubled start, LHOCIEMA (9) has been allocated a tough draw but will still take all the beating if Romain Derieux gets her off on the right foot. Resistance will be led by the reinvigorated LOVELY HONEY (1) who has taken a liking to Cagnes conditions, and the widely-drawn LOVELY FACE (8) who will be out to turn the tables on a freshly-barefoot LAZULITE GEDE (2) who had her measure here 2 weeks ago.

- MA COPINE FLAC – Ran 2nd on debut here before coming 5th of 16 behind MISTER BARRA (9) in a 2150m Class D here on 6 January. Pitted against a better lot this time and will struggle to make her presence felt
- MAC KINLEY – Sanctioned when full of running in a 2150m Class D here 11 days ago. Form is not in question and will be no easy touch if he keeps his action together
- MISTER D’ECROVILLE – Won over track and trip first time out before finishing 6th of 16 behind MISTER BARRA (9) in a 2150m Class D here on 6 January. Is plainly more capable than that and should logically show improvement
- MATIGNON – In the frame in 2 before coming 4th of 16 behind MISTER BARRA (9) in a 2150m Class D here on 6 January. Unlikely to impose but should nevertheless finish thereabouts
- MARA BEST – Easy winner of a 2150m Class F here 3 weeks ago. Is eminently up to the tougher task and has a realistic chance of doubling her money
- MAD DREAM – Races left-handed this time after being sanctioned early in a 2650m Bordeaux Class B 3.5 weeks ago and can expect to have few friends
- MISTER BARRA – Improving sort that ran 2nd of 15 in a 2150m Class D here on 6 January. Enjoys a terrific entry and must be respected
Summary: Winner here on her first start for David Bekaert, MARA BEST (7) finds herself in better company this time but is still game enough to win this. MAC KINLEY (4) was sanctioned when clearly going well recently and will pose the main danger if Jean-Christophe Sorel assures his initial strides. MAFIATIME DUCAMPUS (2) has shown significant promise and can more than make up for his recent sanction if Christophe Martens gets him off on the right foot.
