C1 – PRIX DE SAINT-CALAIS – 2850m (a2m) – Class G Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 12,000

  1. IPSOS MARANCOURT – Encouraging but beaten 4th of 12 behind HECTOR DE CORDAY (3) in a 2150m Mauquenchy amateurs Class G on 5 February, and will have nothing to contribute
  2. GROS MOTEUR MEEK – Showed marginal improvement when 6th of 10 in a 2650m Saint-Galmier amateurs Class G a month ago but still needs to find more
  3. HECTOR DE CORDAY – 2nd of 12 in a 2150m Mauquenchy amateurs Class G on 5 February. Breaks in front, has been entrusted to a talented driver, and is not incapable of getting his nose in front
  4. INTERACTION – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2800m Pontchateau Class F last weekend. Has ample ability though, starts in front, and can get in on the action if André Lair manages to keep her focused
  5. IZA JOSSELYN – Well-beaten 6th of 12 in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class F earlier in the month and even under these conditions will struggle to make her mark
  6. INTUITIF BOY – Failed to confirm good Toulouse performance when 6th of 15 in a 2575m Agen amateurs Class G early this month. Benefits from a front-row break but still no more than a minor place prospect
  7. HADDOCK D’ECOUVES – 10th of 13 on re-entry in a 2875m Argentan amateurs Class G last weekend. Ideally-engaged on front line, and barefoot, but still not a contender
  8. HIJO MOKO – Wonderfully-consistent type that ran 3rd of 13 in a 2850m Mauquenchy amateurs Class G 3.5 weeks ago. On back line again but could pleasantly surprise
  9. IMOKO DU BOUILLON – 3rd of 14 in a 2700m claimer here a month back. Comes here fresh and even though 25m worse off, still looks a solid place chance
  10. ICONE PLANCHETTE – Back in her category after finishing last but one in a 2875m Argentan Class F last Sunday. Is no stranger to the amateur division and even from the back row has a realistic chance of making the frame
  11. GRACE DE MAI – No slouch on a good day but will need to improve on recent 10th of 13 in a 2725m Graignes Class E 2.5 weeks ago
  12. GO GARFIELD – Made short work of a 3000m Nantes Class E on 17 January. Has nothing to prove in this category and has every chance of pulling off the hat-trick
  13. GOOD COMPUTER – 8th of 18 in a 3000m Chateaubriant Class D conditioner. Goes barefoot for first objective of the year but still not an obvious choice
    Summary: An excellent servant for the past 12 months, GO GARFIELD (12) returns reconfigured to the amateur division after storming up in the professional ranks, and even from the 2nd row will still take all the beating. 25m better off, barefoot, and clearly close to his race, HECTOR DE CORDAY (3) is very easy to like, as is back-line starter ICONE PLANCHETTE (10) who sports front pads this time. IMOKO DU BOUILLON (9) is in his category and unlikely to disappoint.

  14. METEORE DU LILAS – Has not been seen out since running 3rd of 12 in a 2300m Chartres Class F in early-November. Is better than several here but may just be a race shy
  15. MY WAY FERM – Last but one in a 2100m Class D over main track 10 days ago. Has yet to show any aptitude for the game and can be passed over
  16. MAESTRO DE JOUDES – Back under harness after finishing courageous 6th of 8 in a 2200m monté Gr.3 here a week ago. Has shown potential in this branch of the game and the draw will do his chances no harm
  17. MADONA DE VILLABON – Sanctioned at Nantes before coming surprising 6th of 11 in a 2725m Graignes Class E last week. Nicely-placed behind the car but others still easier to back
  18. MA PASSION – Debuts over inner course after finishing 10th of 13 in a 2100m Class D over main track 10 days ago. Takes a slide down the category-ladder and is well-positioned to give this a good go. Chance
  19. MYRTILLE MARBOULA – Did not enjoy the best of runs when 8th of 13 in a 2200m Class C here late-January. Encouraged on lone appearance under these conditions and, in this company, looks a more serious player
  20. MARIA DE VALNY – Drops to a more reasonable category after finishing 6th of 8 in a 2175m Class D here a week ago. Gets champion driver for the occasion and can finally get that maiden monkey off her back
  21. MAMZELLE DREAM – Disappointing over course and distance before coming 8th of 11 in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E on 27 January. Not disgraced in only claiming run and despite the wide draw, could still make first 5
  22. MARELLA DALEO – Took on too much when last but one in a 2950m Toulouse Class C 3 weeks ago. Not ideally-drawn, and races left-handed for first time, but has the wherewithal to get in on the action
  23. MUSE DE CAPONET – Unraced since being sanctioned in a 2650m Agen claimer in early-November and can be confidently ruled out
  24. MA ROBSONS – Last of 8 in a 2025m Saint-Galmier Class F early this month and is unlikely to improve on that
    Summary: Not devoid of ability, and entrusted to Eric Raffin for the first time, MARIA DE VALNY (7) starts wide here but, at this level, should be good enough to lose her maiden status. Already a winner in the claiming division, MA PASSION (5) is well-placed behind the car and has decent speed. MYRTILLE MARBOULA (6) has also scored in the category and should be good enough to challenge for a place on the podium. MAESTRO DE JOUDES (3) showed form at this level last time under harness and can play a prominent part if David Thomain keeps her trotting.

  26. FOSTER DE L’ITON – Sanctioned on re-entry in 26 January race of reference. Has already won twice for Agathe Poulain and returns to a distance he appreciates. First 5
  27. FLASH DU BIWETZ – Encouraging 3rd of 13, a place behind GLADIATOR BOY (4), in a 2175m Class D here on 4 February, but confirmation seems most improbable
  28. GLADIATOR BOY – 2nd of 13, on return to competition, in a 2175m Class D here 2.5 weeks ago. Will have come on for the run, thrives over course and distance, and must be taken seriously
  29. HORIZON CARISAIE – Last of 7 in a 3000m Chateaubriant Class D early this month. Has looked ordinary this winter and will need to raise his game
  30. ELIXIR – Runner-up to HEDEN CRUZ (13) in a 2700m Class C here late last month. Unlikely to open 2025 account but can still challenge for a step on the podium
  31. HURRICANE WAY – Looked somewhat ordinary when sanctioned in 26 January race of reference. Sports front pads this time but still not a priority
  32. GARANCIO BELLO – Sanctioned when preparing for this in a 2700m harness Class C here on 25 January. Front pads fitted this time and, if focused, can play a small role
  33. FEVE DE BEYLEV – Flattering 3rd of 7 finishers to HEDEN CRUZ (13) in a 2700m Class C here late last month. Will not be sent out at 123/1 this time but cannot be considered a concern either
  34. ILTON ROYAL – Sanctioned early when preparing for this, but nevertheless showed his form, in a 2700m harness Class D at Lyon-La Soie 3 weeks ago. Takes a step down the category-ladder and can give HEDEN CRUZ (13) a run for his money
  35. GORDON MIJACK – Returns to ridden code after placing twice under harness, most recently 2nd of 15 in a 2700m Class C here on 25 January. Is not about to shake things up but still looks competitive for a cheque
  36. GREZ – Respectable 4th of 7 finishers to HEDEN CRUZ (13) in a 2700m Class C here late last month but is going to have to find significantly more this time around
  37. HEDEN CRUZ – Made short work of a 2700m Class C here late last month. Excels with his young partner and can make it 2 on the trot
  38. FASCINOSO DE LOU – Drops to a more reasonable level after coming 10th of 12 behind GREZ (12) in a 2850m Class B over main track mid-January. Used to appreciate the short track and will generate some interest
  39. GABELOU CARISAIE – Back under the saddle after finishing 10th of 12 in a 2650m Bordeaux harness Class C on 27 January. Has never excelled in the discipline and is not about to start now
  40. FLUO MESLOIS – Well-beaten 6th of 7 finishers in a 2850m Class B over main track a fortnight ago, and even at this level seems to be taking on too much
  41. HOPIUM – Last but one in a 2625m Agen harness conditioner last Saturday. Has solid credentials both at this level and under these conditions, races barefoot for the occasion, and the good entry only enhances his respectable place prospects
  42. FANFARONNEUR – Sanctioned when never threatening in a 2625m Agen harness Class B a month ago and is unlikely to make any impact
    Summary: Very much at home under these conditions, HEDEN CRUZ (13) most recently flew up over the main track and securing the double is well within his capacity. Runner-up to him that day, ELIXIR (6) has been defying his odds lately and should again figure prominently, but may first have to make way for ILTON ROYAL (10) who boasts an excellent record in this category. GLADIATOR BOY (4) gave a fine account here on first start back and looks a leading player.

  43. INES DE LA ROUVRE – 7th of 14 when preparing for this in a 2875m Argentan Class F last Sunday. Barefoot this time, won for Benjamin Rochard last month, and even from the inside line can play a part
  44. IDREAMIS – Got back in the game last week when 2nd of 15 in a 2700m Class E here. Well-placed in front and with form maintained, will be in the running for a first 3 payout
  45. GREAT ROCK – Met little opposition in a 2925m Cagnes Class E on 12 February. Is behind in earnings and from the 3-spot can double up
  46. HENRY DE TROUVILLE – Would have finished in the money had he not faulted in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class F on 5 February. Barefoot again but still no more than a minor place chance
  47. HELIA DE FROMENTIN – Unlucky 3rd of 15 [at 70/1], a place behind IDREAMIS (2), in a 2700m Class E here last week. Has never failed to deliver for Paul Ploquin and from the 5-spot will be competitive at the business end of the race
  48. IGGY POP DE CHENU – Made it 3 straight sanctions after faulting in a 3000m Nantes Class E late last month. Shoes on this time and even with JMB reining, is unlikely to spring any surprises
  49. ISLAND CASH – Is considerably better than recent last of 11 in a 2850m Class D here would suggest. Breaks in front, in less-exalted company, and will be expected to bring the fight to GREAT ROCK (3)
  50. HEMILIO PIERJI – 6th of 15 in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class F on 5 February. Drawn wide and would be preferred in the amateur division
  51. HEROINE DE GUERRE – 3rd at Toulouse before coming 5th of 11 in a 3150m Class E here on 2 February. Will appreciate return to a shorter trip and, despite the draw, should not be far off the mark
  52. ISIS DE LA FERME – Decent but never-dangerous 5th of 15 behind IDREAMIS (2) in a 2700m Class E here on 12 February. Did win under these conditions during the autumn though and must be retained
  53. HAROLD SAUTONNE – Last of 10, on re-entry, in a 3000m Nantes Class E a week ago. Shod to preference this time but the draw will do him no favours
  54. IN RACE LORRAINE – Has not been seen out since finishing last of 15 in a 2700m Class F at La Capelle last November. Pads fitted and no threat
  55. HUNIQUE – Put in a fine performance to win a 3000m Nantes Class E late-January. Starts on 2nd row but with Eric Raffin in the bike, should not be underestimated
  56. HARRYBEAU DE COUET – Surprise winner of a 2725m Graignes Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Takes on a better lot this time and the draw only compounds matters
  57. HYACINTO BELLO – Last of 14 finishers in a 2875m Argentan Class E on re-entry 2 weeks ago, and has no possible chance
    Summary: Although seldom seen in the capital these days, GREAT ROCK (3) is plainly back at his best, has been handed a terrific draw, and may just have the edge over the more widely-drawn, and reconfigured, ISLAND CASH (7) who twice came close last month to opening her 2025 account. IDREAMIS (2) is better-placed behind the car, reassured here 9 days ago, and looks a serious proposition once more. HEROINE DE GUERRE (9) is not ideally-positioned and has never delivered over the main track, but in current form is very easy to like.

  60. LIVE TO TELL – In good shape and was runner-up in class A at Argentan over 2875m on 3 November. Returns from a break but is not out of it
  61. L’AMOUR SUPREME – Showed improvement and was fourth in class C at this course over 2175m on 9 December. Has shown improvement and is not out of it
  62. LEGACY JIEL – Disqualified in class C at Vincennes over 2175m on 9 February. Remains barefoot and is capable of an upset
  63. LUXOR DE VILLABON – Disqualified in class C at Vincennes over 2700m on 29 December. Has major disqualification issues and is best watched for now
  64. L’AMIRAL DARLING – A good third in class C at this track on 9 February. Capable of getting involved with the finish
  65. LOUSTIC DE SALOMAX – Disqualified in class C at Vincennes over 2175m on 9 February. Quite capable of making the frame
  66. LORD DES FANES – Disqualified in class B at Saint-Galmier over 2600m on 17 February. Has major disqualification issues and others are preferred
  67. L’ARC – Finished 7th in class B over this track and trip on 2 February when barefoot. Others are preferred this time
  68. LE CAP – Finished 9th in class B over this course and distance on 2 February. On a long losing streak and others make more appeal
  69. LUGANO DE LOU – Knocking very loudly at the door and was runner-up in class D over this track and trip on 16 February. Big chance
    Summary: LUGANO DE LOU (12) bumped into some real class horses in his recent starts and is overdue a win. This race looks well within his range and he gets a confident vote to score. L’AMOUR (2) tends to run too keenly but he is a nice horse and should be respected. L’AMOUR SUPREME (4) should come on plenty from his comeback run and warrants some consideration. A winner over this course & distance in December, LOUSTIC DE SALOMAX (8) posted a reassuring last start effort and can get involved too.

  77. KALMIA PERRINE – In good shape and was runner-up in class A over this track and trip on 31 January. Should fight out the finish on debut in this code
  78. JUST FOR BACK – Not disgraced when 5th in class E at this track over 2175m on 17 August. Returns from a break but has a winning chance
  79. JASON DU CONROY – Good last run when runner-up in class A at this track over 2175m on 2 February. Remains barefoot and can fight out the finish
    Summary: JANZIBAR (6) bounced back to form in a harness race at this course mid-January and is expected to make a big splash on his return in the Mounted code. Trainer Guillaume Gillot has a strong hand in this line-up with JASON DU CONROY (10), who was a good second in a similar contest last time out, and the smart JUST FOR BACK (9), who returns from a spell. KALMIA PERRINE (8) is an intriguing candidate trying this discipline.

    Summary: KEY OF LOVE (8) is on a redemption mission after her last sanction and can redeem herself with the assistance of Eric Raffin. KELLE HAUFOR (6) looked very competitive when she faulted here at Vincennes ten days ago and is also one to keep high on the shortlist. KYNTE FLUSH (5) got boxed-in last time out and with more luck in the running, she can go close this time. KALISKANA (9) has a good each-way shout.

  106. KHEOPS BOURBON – Finished tenth in class D over this course and distance on 26 January. On a long losing streak and others are preferred
  107. KAIROS DE BOMO – Finished 12th in class D over this track and trip on 26 January. On a long losing streak and is best wathced for now
    Summary: The regally well-bred KAZACHOK (6) has taken a step forward since racing without hind shoes and is also very effective over the short distances. He can come on top in what remains a highly competitive race. KIFF L’OSEILLE (12) cannot be overlooked on the back of his last sanction and is better judged on his two previous victories. KOQUIN D’AMOUR (8) should improve plenty from his comeback run and is respected. KEOPS BEGONIA (1) is not the most reliable trotter but could have won his last two starts had he not faulted. He can redeem himself at a big odds. KOWEIT DE CHENU (11) can be included in the exotics.

    Summary: LADY WINNER (1) disappointed last time out at Deauville but drops in grade and can bounce back and beat these rivals. MISS ALWAYS (4) is proven on a heavy track and can get involved with the finish once again. PASILLO (2) will strip fitter this time and should improve. ARTICHOPE (5) did not show her best last time out but has run well in this division before.

  71. LEADER DES APRES – Disqualified in three of his last four starts, including last time out at this track on 29 January. Best watched for now
    Summary: A winner of his first two starts last summer, LONGWOOD D’HERIPRE (6) finds here a great spot to leave behind his disqualification on return from the break. He is a tentative choice ahead of LEONITO STAR (2) who produced an eye-catching performance when he went off the mark at Hyères last time out. LE PRINCE (4) blew his chances at the start last time but with application can make his presence felt. LET’S GO MAB (8) is worth a look in the betting on his first run for his new handler.

  77. MARIE CURIE – Showed good improvement when runner-up last time out in Class F over this track and trip on 1 February. Can go one better
  78. MAMBA DES DURIEZ – Disqualified last time out at this track on 8 February. Capable of earning some money when wise
  79. MOSCANTIDA PEAL – Holding form and was fourth last time out in Class E at Marseille-Borély over 2300m on 2 December. Should fight out the finish
    Summary: MYGIRL DES FORGES (5) is not the easiest to handle but she does not lack ability and can make a big splash on her first start for trainer Romain Derieux. MAJESTY QUICK (4) has plenty of room for improvement and is best to keep safe. The well-related MARIE CURIE (6) ran a good race at the venue on 1 February and has every chance on the back of this effort. The consistent MOSCANTIDA PEAL (8) cannot be excluded of the equation.

  89. FUCHSIA DU RIB – Fifth in a class F at this track over 2925m on 4 February. Remains barefoot. Improved latest effort and can be competitive
  90. GREAT DANCER – A winner in a class E at this track over 2700m on 1 February. In good form since joining Audrey Lebreton’s stables. Has every chance again
  91. FUN LOVER – Disqualified in a class D at this track over 2150m on 1 February. Must be wise and needs to improve to feature
    Summary: IBIZA EVENING (8) is unbeaten in two starts in the amateur division and looks the one to side with. GREAT DANCER (11) has taken a step forward since trained by Audrey Lebreton and could prove a big threat to the selection. HAWK SPEED (2) is always one to fear in this class of event and is a must for the shortlist. INCROYABLE KYRN (1) won well at Marseille-Borély last time and in similar form is expected to go close again.
