Flowerhead TO BLOOM AT NEWBURY

Fine Form
Flowerhead NB – 4.45
can bloom again for Charlie Clover in the Sequoia Hair & Spirit St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury.
The two-year-old bay filly, who is by the emerging sire Starman, sports the purple silks of Amo Racing and ran encouragingly in two maiden events before stepping up sharply in grade at Royal Ascot.
There she contested the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes over five furlongs, and completely outran odds of 100-1 to finish second when beaten a length and a quarter.
She returned to the same track the following month for the Group Three Princess Margaret Stakes, where she took on an extended trip of six furlongs for the first time in her career.
In a field of 10, the bay was far from disgraced when fifth, beaten two and a half lengths, with Staya, the Queen Mary fifth, ahead of her in second place.
Flowerhead now returns to five furlongs and if able to tap into the form shown over the minimum trip at the Royal meeting, she stands a real chance of getting her head in front at Listed level.
On the same card
Butterfly Beach NB – 3.40
can take flight in the Highclere Horse Feeds EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes run over six furlongs.
The Acclamation filly, who is trained by Ed Walker and owned by Lady Bamford, made her debut at Newmarket’s July course in late June in a six-furlong novice.
There she was second when beaten two and three-quarter lengths, a sound debut from which she is entitled to come on when she takes to the track again to continue efforts to recoup some of her 470,000 guineas purchase price.
At Epsom it is Owen Burrows’
Calendar Girl EP – 2.40
who can come out on top in the Betfred ‘Pick Your Punt ‘ EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes under David Probert.
The Advertise filly began her career at Newbury last month, landing a seven-furlong fillies’ maiden by three and a half lengths with notable ease among a field of nine.
She remains at the same trip for her second run and appears to be the horse to beat based on that performance.
At Newmarket, William Haggas’
Suhub NM – 5.52
appeals in the Jenningsbet EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes, where she attempts to get her head in front at the sixth time of asking.
The three-year-old has twice been the runner-up in her career so far, including when most recently seen in an encouraging run in a Leicester novice in late July.
