R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX DE RAMBOUILLET – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class C – Mounted – EUR € 46,000
- MAGUEN DAIRPET – Has done everything right since coming to Paris, even though having inherited victory here on 14 January. Takes on a superior lot this time, however, and a minor place prospect at best
- MAXIMUS DAIRPET – Got off the mark over the inner course on 12 December but failed to confirm when eliminated on 20 January. Is not easy to use but can play a part if Jean-Yann Ricart keeps him focused
- MARVELOUS – Won over course and distance in November and most recently came 3rd, a place behind MACAREUX DU TRIEUX (4), in a 2200m Class D here on 6 January. Has too much ground to make up though
- MACAREUX DU TRIEUX – Ran close 2nd in a 2200m Class D on his ridden debut here on 6 January. Will have progressed for the run, will be competitively-shod for the first time, and must be taken seriously
- MARIO DE LA VALLEE – Should not be condemned for faulting here on 19 December. Has had ample time to get straightened out and, with application, can bring the fight to MARLEY DE BAILLE (6)
- MARLEY DE BAILLE – Serious future prospect that was throughly professional when scoring on monte debut here on 20 January. Will be unfazed by the shorter distance and has an obvious claim on the race
- MAESTRO MUSIC – Has demonstrated good aptitude for the monte code but took on too much in a Class B 2 weeks ago. Is confirmed over 2175m here and in this company has a reasonable chance of finishing in the mix
- MACLANDER – Switches code for first time after 3 solid runs in the claiming division under harness, but will still have few takers
Summary: After having shown potential under harness, MARLEY DE BAILLE (6) got straight down to business on his monte debut here recently and even over this shorter trip should have the measure of the field. Mathieu Mottier will still be keeping a watchful eye on the promising MARIO DE LA VALLEE (5) who will be expected to bounce back from December’s elimination, and a freshly-reconfigured MACAREUX DU TRIEUX (4) who put in a very good show on his monte debut a month ago.

C2 – PRIX MICHEL POTIEZ – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class A – Harness – EUR € 51,000 - NOVA DE CELLAND – Showed early promise but has shown her limits over recent months, and can be ruled out
- NUIT MYSTIC – Runner-up in last 2, most recently to NEW APPROACH (6) in a 2200m Class C here on 27 January. At this level though will struggle to make her mark
- NIKITA – Yet to get off the mark, and can prove a handful, but came good 3rd in a Class A over track and trip 3 weeks ago. 4 pads fitted this time and should not be far off the mark if applied
- NO LIMIT DELO – Top-drawer filly starting for first time since coming 10th of 13 in Gr.2 Prix Une de Mai over track and trip on 14 December. 4 pads fitted this time and, if allowed to express herself, can deliver
- NIKITA ERCA – Has improved for every run, latterly getting off the mark in a 2175m Class D here on 14 January. In considerably better company this time but is a progressive filly herself and should not be discounted
- NEW APPROACH – Got back in the winners’ circle late last month when securing a 2200m Class C. Trainer in the bike this time but may just be taking on too much
- NOIRE INTENSE – Ran 3rd in Gr.2 Prix Une de Mai over course and distance in December prior to confirming, a place behind NONEKA (8), in a Class B under the same conditions on 10 January. Has a bright future and must be taken seriously
- NONEKA – Won 3 for 3 in the provinces before coming 2nd in a Class B under these conditions on 10 January, her first time at the venue, and looks a major player
- NO WORRY – 4th, a place behind NIKITA (3), in a Class A over course and distance on 17 January. Found trouble in running that day but can make amends if David Thomain keeps her out of harm’s way
Summary: Back at a less-exalted level after failing to deliver in the Gr.2 Prix Une de Mai here in mid-December, NO LIMIT DELO (4) will be fitted with pads for the first time and can return to successful ways if Benjamin Rochard assures her initial strides. NO WORRY (9) was unlucky not to finish closer here last month and, particularly well-engaged this time, David Thomain will be keen to put things right. Beaten only by a very good horse here in early-January, NONEKA (8) sports 4 pads on this occasion and looks competitively well in. NOIRE INTENSE (7) finished just behind her here last time and, with hind pads fitted, must be afforded respect.

C3 – PRIX DE CARQUEBUT – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000 - MELINA SUPREME – Looked rather ordinary when dead-heating with MENTHE FRAICHE (9) for 7th in a 2175m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Is barefoot again but still not an obvious choice
- MARLEY – Progressive filly that came close to pulling off the 5-timer in late-December. May just be better-suited to this shorter trip and victory is well within her reach
- MYRIAM D’AZUR – Returns to France after an unremarkable return run in Mons in mid-December, and is not about to trouble the judge
- MELISSE DES EPINES – Tricky but talented filly making first start since last June. Sports front pads for the occasion but will have other priorities
- MY DARLING HAUFOR – Opened her Vincennes account in late-November then ran a very competitive 3rd in a Class D over track and trip on 13 January, and it will not be long before she gets her nose head in front
- MA CATHERINECHERIE – Showed improvement when 4th, a place behind MY DARLING HAUFOR (5), in a Class D over course and distance on 13 January. Enjoys a decent spot in front and can compete for a spot in first 5
- MILKA DES THUYAS – Has a number of reasons for finishing last in a 2700m Class D here in early-January. Has had a month to recalibrate and, while unlikely to win this, still has the wherewithal to make the frame
- MERYTATON – Modest individual making just 2nd start since the autumn break. Regularly bites off more than she can chew and this race is a case in point
- MENTHE FRAICHE – Has just the one win to her name but always gives her best. Is better than her latest effort would imply, runs barefoot, and will be no pushover if Matthieu Verva successfully negotiates the start
- MARQUISE GRIFF – Occasionally a handful but ran pleasant 5th behind MY DARLING HAUFOR (5) in a Class D over course and distance on 13 January. Is not about to cause an upset but will be similarly-shod and should give another honourable account
- MISS DE LA FERME – Ran 4th over course and distance before being dominated in a 2175m Class D 3 weeks ago. Is barefoot this time but the draw will not help her plight
- MAKE IT RIGHT – Has started to come good lately, most recently winning a 2175m Class E with ease here 2.5 weeks ago. Is not about to repeat but still looks competitive for a cheque
- MAGIE DU CHATAULT – 5th in both starts this term, latterly a 2700m Class D here on 5 January. Returns to racing shod and although not a contender is still worth monitoring
Summary: Winner of 4 in a row before missing out by little on her Vincennes debut on Christmas Eve, MARLEY (2) makes just her 2nd appearance over 2100m but starts in front and can impose this time. MY DARLING HAUFOR (5) put on a fine show here last month, sports modified shoeing, and looks better than most here. Already a winner under these conditions, MILKA DES THUYAS (7) can be forgiven her recent blip and represents a decent place chance. MENTHE FRAICHE (9) is forced to start wide but she benefits from terrific entry and will be first-time barefoot.
SELECTIONS

C4 – PRIX DE MUNICH – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class A – Harness – EUR € 90,000 - IBISCUS MAN – 4th behind JINGLE DU PONT (7) in a Class A over course and distance in early-January before running out of luck in Cagnes 2.5 weeks ago. Is plainly in shape, sports modified shoeing, and with application can figure prominently
- WORKING CLASS HERO – Serious trotter with Gr.1 form. Missed out on 3rd place in Gr.3 Prix du Luxembourg over course and distance a fortnight back. Enjoys a better draw this time and has a realistic chance of getting his head in front
- KSAR – Has been biting off more than he can chew lately, lastly 8th of 15 in a 2900m Cagnes Gr.3 a month ago. Has form with Matthieu Abrivard but in current condition is not easy to recommend
- HAPPY DANICA – Steps up in category after running 3rd behind HYMNE DU GERS (8) in a Cagnes Class A 2.5 weeks ago and, even though well-placed, is still not an obvious choice
- JANGO VICI – Ran a determined 5th, a place behind WORKING CLASS HERO (2), in Gr.3 Prix du Luxembourg over course and distance a fortnight ago. Has ground to make up but the draw will do his prospects no disservice
- IDEAL DU ROCHER – Quality element with solid references under these conditions. Caught the eye in a 2700m Gr.3 here on 10 January and, in similar form, can again finish close
- JINGLE DU PONT – Returns to racing barefoot after coming 4th in a 2850m Class B conditioner 9 days ago. Is confirmed in more elevated company, as he showed when securing Gr.2 GNT Final, and will be expected to contest the finish
- HYMNE DU GERS – Convincing 3rd in a Cagnes Class A 2.5 weeks ago on first objective of the season. Will have come on for the race and can play a role if David Thomain places him early
- CASH BANK BIGI – 5th behind JINGLE DU PONT (7) in a Class A over course and distance in early-January, before failing to deliver in Gr.3 Prix du Luxembourg 2 weeks ago, and can be passed over
- KARAMBAR – Hardy trotter with an exceptional strike-rate but is shod for his return to competition and best to hold off
- INDY ROCK – Pleased more than once here last winter but has completely failed to make his mark here this term and can expect to have few friends
- MAIN STAGE – Handy Finnish element returning to France after a break. Is shod for competition but has no love for Vincennes and can be ruled out
- GRINDELWALD – Useful mare but has not been seen out since last June and is going to need the race
- INVICTUS MADIBA – Erratic element with just the one race in him since the break. Not ideally-draw but is shod to preference, with Franck Nivard reining, and cannot be discounted
- LIGHTNING STRIDE – Impressed on Vincennes debut, coming 4th in Gr.3 Prix Helen Johansson over course and distance, 2 weeks ago. Takes on the boys this time though and the draw only compounds matters
- JAZZMAN (GER) – Made up somewhat for early Gr.1 Prix Ténor de Baune elimination when flying up in a Gr.3 over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Forced to break wide on back line but has buckets of class and should not be underestimated
Summary: A fine servant with nothing to prove in this grade of race, WORKING CLASS HERO (2) gave an excellent account of himself in the Gr.3 Prix du Luxembourg a fortnight ago and from the 2-spot is easy to fancy. Courageous 7th that day despite quickly losing all chance, JINGLE DU PONT (7) benefits from a front-row start and will be barefoot this time. JAZZMAN (GER) (16) has pulled a rough number but the nature of his recent Gr.3 Prix Jean René Gougeon victory nevertheless augurs well for his chances. Better-positioned behind the car, Luxembourg 5th place, JANGO VICI (5), reverts to his preferred formula and Benjamin Rochard will be back in the bike. IDEAL DU ROCHER (6) held his own in the Gr.3 Prix du Forez a month back and can put his speed to good use.

C5 – PRIX DE GRIGNAN – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000 - LOOPING MIL – Surprise winner of a Class E over track and trip in mid-January before blowing up in a Class D 11 days later, and is clearly taking on too much
- LIL BOSS ONLY – Has been very hard to fault since returning to current configuration, but takes on a better lot this time and chances appear limited
- LET IT SNOW – In the frame in last 4, latterly clear 2nd in a 2850m Class D 3 weeks ago. Appears to have found his category and it will not be long before he is rewarded for his efforts
- LOYAL DU CHOQUEL – Good, consistent type that was surprisingly eliminated in a 2100m Class D here a fortnight ago. Has otherwise never failed to deliver at Vincennes and will be competitive for a place on the podium
- LOVE’S SECRET – Unraced since placing under the saddle here in early-November. Will be shod for re-entry and can be ignored
- LAWMAN – Has not put a foot wrong for past 3.5 months. Ran 2nd to LAVALO BELLO (9) here in December before coming 3rd, a place behind LET IT SNOW (3) in a 2850m Class D 3 weeks ago, and represents a decent first-5 prospect
- LUCIFER DU CAIEU – Could have finished closer than 4th in a 2100m Class D here 2 weeks ago had he not stumbled in the final stages. Is unlikely to shake things up but will still generate some interest
- LAY UP – Returns to racing barefoot after prepping here 2.5 weeks ago. Reliability not his strong suit but can trot when in the mood and cannot be ruled out
- LAVALO BELLO – Unbeaten in 2 here this winter and, even though pushed last time, he has been afforded ample time to return to his best and will be well-backed to make his 2026 debut a winning one
- LETIKALIN – Starts for first time since winning a 2100m Class E here on 21 December. Races shod on this occasion, but in present form should still have the wherewithal to finish in the mix
- LE TOUQUET – Faces first objective of the winter after 2 comeback runs. Is a force when barefoot and, if applied, can give LAVALO BELLO (9) a run for his money
- LUGANO DE LOU – Has ability but never far from faulting. Races shod for first start since the summer and will have nothing to offer
Summary: Twice a winner over course and distance this winter, LAVALO BELLO (9) steps up in category as he bids for the hat-trick and looks thoroughly capable of pulling it off. Benjamin Rochard will still want to be wary though of the Duvaldestin’s barefoot LE TOUQUET (11) who is as talented as he is complicated, and LOYAL DU CHOQUEL (4) who should not be condemned for being eliminated on his comeback run. LET IT SNOW (3) has been knocking at the door this winter and looks primed to pick up another cheque.

C6 – PRIX EPHREM HOUEL – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Gr2 – Harness – EUR € 120,000 - MAGNUM DU CHOQUEL – Never far from faulting but has ample ability. Returns to racing shod after stumbling in Gr.1 Prix Ourasi, and if there is a surprise to be sprung, this is the horse to spring it
- MEMPHIS DE BRASSE – Pleasant 4th in a 2700m Gr.3 here on Christmas Day. Gets to race barefoot for the first time and from the 2-spot can get in on the action
- MAT MANATHIS – Sent for a rest after coming 3rd behind MAITRE JACQUES (7) in a Gr.2 here in late-October, but will be barefoot for the first time and has been handed a fine draw. First 5
- MAGIC MAN – Occasionally a handful but has buckets of talent. Stays shod for first start back, but will be no easy touch if Mattheiu Abrivard keeps him focused
- MONZON NORMAND – Serious colt that has been overshadowed by stablemate MAGIC NIGHT (8), but is a first-rate colt, with a good spot behind the car, and going barefoot may be key to his success
- MORALITY – Has looked rather mediocre for some time, and recent Prix Ourasi performance did nothing to change that
- MAITRE JACQUES – Seldom disappoints when focused, most recently 3rd in Gr.1 Prix Ready Cash over course and distance in early-December. Comes here fresh, and reconfigured, and can bring home the bacon this time
- MAGIC NIGHT – Won a pair of Gr.2s in the autumn, then came excellent 3rd in 2700m Gr.1 Prix Ourasi on re-entry 2 weeks ago. Is the best filly of her generation and winning this would be no surprise
- MADRID HAUFOR – Has not won for 10 months, and is forced to start wide, but has been acquitting herself competitively over recent months and can finish close once more
- MIRA DE FROULAY – Takes first Gr.2 steps after being quickly eliminated in a Gr.3 here a week ago. Can trot but would still be preferred at a lower level
- MIDWAY LADY – At home at this level but has no references over 2100m of the main track. Will be competitively-shod for comeback though and cannot be discounted
- MARQUETY DE BAILLY – Out of the picture in both starts since the New Year and, in this company, has no realistic chance
Summary: Most impressive 3rd in the Gr.1 Prix Ready Cash in early-December, MAITRE JACQUES (7) gets to race competitively-shod for the first time and can win this if Alexandre Abrivard keeps him trotting. He will still be expecting to encounter significant resistance from the classy MAGIC NIGHT (8) who ran close 3rd in the Gr.1 Prix Ourasi a fortnight ago. A place behind her that day, after having run 2nd in the Gr.2 Prix Charles Tiercelin, MADRID HAUFOR (9) breaks wide but can still make the frame, as can Philippe Allaire’s second runner, MONZON NORMAND (5), who races barefoot for the first time.

C7 – PRIX DE VERNEUIL – 2850m (a2m) – Class B – Harness – EUR € 52,000 - FEDE JET – Moderate Italian mare taking a notable hike in category after running 5th in a Class E here late last month and is unlikely to improve on that
- FAHARAJAH ONE – Serious Italian raider returning to France in good shape. Ran 2nd on sole start over course and distance and, competitively-shod this time, can play a part. First 5
- FILLY MAIL – Respectable in both starts since coming to France, but takes a big jump in category and is unlikely to cause an upset
- LOVE BITES – Hardy nordic mare that was eliminated under the saddle on Vincennes debut a week ago. Has no references beyond 2640m but will be barefoot and not to be discounted
- LOUISA D’ATOUT – First-rate mare that has twice failed to get around unscathed recently. Showed her form here last time though and will be no easy touch if Matthieu Abrivard keeps her focused
- LITTLE STAR FLEURY – Respectable on a good day but has been showing her limits this winter and can be disregarded
- LILI DRY – Has not put a foot wrong since starting to race barefoot. 3rd to LALUNA DES FORGES (8) in a 2700m Class B here on 17 January and, in similar form, can confirm
- LALUNA DES FORGES – Made amends for late-December blip when comfortable winner of a Class B under these conditions on 17 January. Is plainly on the right trajectory and is in with a shout of doubling his money
- LADY DADA – Took time to come to hand this term but ran reassuring 2nd to LALUNA DES FORGES (8) in a Class B over track and trip on 17 January. Goes barefoot again and, with her mind on the game, can figure prominently
- LAUREATE DRY – Back under harness after disappointing in the other code in late-December. Will be barefoot this time but has not done enough to be considered competitive
Summary: Twice a winner in both starts over 2700m recently, LALUNA DES FORGES (8) imposed with authority 3 weeks ago and even in the absence of Paul Ploquin, can continue the trend. Second and third respectively that day, LADY DADA (9) goes barefoot again, as does the reinvigorated LILI DRY (7), however these 2 may first have to see off the progressive LOUISA D’ATOUT (5) who was eliminated when going well here early last month.

C8 – PRIX DE LISIEUX – 2850m (a2m) – Class B – Mounted – EUR € 75,000 - JUPITER DU CORTA – Has been super this winter in the monte discipline, latterly outclassing the opposition in a 2200m Class D here on 30 January. Takes on a better lot this time but still looks a player
- JACARANDA – Has not been seen out since making it 7 on the trot in a 2700m Class C here in late-November. Is sure to have been specifically prepared for this and looks to have a reasonable chance of imposing
- TURE L.A. – Quality Swedish element that has picked up in France where he left off at Solvalla in late-November. Switches code for first time and is not incapable of making this his own
- HOLD UP DU DIGEON – Has done nothing noteworthy at Vincennes this winter. Has been reconfigured for the occasion but still has no possible chance
- IVANOF – Won a Class B over course and distance in mid-January before finishing last but one in Gr.2 Prix Jacques Andrieu 2 weeks ago, and is once again being aimed too high
- ILTON ROYAL – Not the easiest of horses to handle, was well-beaten in a Class B here on 17 December, and will need to find considerably more
- HANNAH – Bit off more than she could chew when last but one in Gr.1 Prix de Cornulier on 18 January. Has form in this category but, given the opposition, is unlikely to spice things up
- JE REVE DU BOIS – Has done battle with JUST FOR BACK (10) in last 2 starts, coming off better in one. Was not far off him in Gr.2 Prix Jacques Andrieu late last month and should prove competitive when it matters
- HEURISTIQUE – Produced a pair of good efforts before being trounced in Gr.1 Prix de Cornulier 3 weeks ago. Is in less-elevated company this time and, while not a priority, should not be ruled out either
- JUST FOR BACK – Fine element that produced his career-best performance when runner-up in Gr.2 Prix Jacques Andrieu here 2 weeks ago. Damien Bonne in the irons this time and can challenge for the win if he keeps his charge focused
- HEDEN CRUZ – Useful sort that ran 5th behind JUST FOR BACK (10) in 2850m Gr.2 Prix Jacques Andrieu here 2 weeks ago. Has a particular liking for these conditions and seldom disappoints for Tamara Mathias-Maisonnette
Summary: As consistent as they come, and close 2nd in a harness Class D on his French debut here in mid-January, TURE L.A. (3) debuts under the saddle, with Mathieu Mottier reining, and looks eminently capable of getting straight down to business. Twice a bridesmaid here recently, lastly in the Gr.2 Prix Jacques Andrieu, JUST FOR BACK (10) is well-entered and easy to fancy. JE REVE DU BOIS (8) ran 4th behind him that day after having had his measure 3 weeks earlier, and looks competitive once again. Unbeaten in 7 straight barefoot monte starts, JACARANDA (2) faces a tougher task on his return to competition, but is as tenacious as they get and must be duly respected.

C9 – PRIX DE BERCY – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 46,000 - KING D’HERMES – Never the easiest to gauge but has ample ability. Prepped shod here last month but is in competition-mode this time, and has every chance of getting back in the game
- KELLER DE L’ITON – Has been in excellent form over recent months. Prepped honourably at Angers but is back under conditions he appreciates and has a realistic chance of imposing
- KANSAS QUESNOT – Handy sort starting for first time since late-November. Ideally-drawn but will be fitted with shoes and best to hold off
- KING DE LARRE – Unraced since winning a Class E at Beaumont-de-Lomagne in late-November. Is shod for comeback and others easier to back
- KENNEDY FRANCE – Given an easy comeback run here in mid-January. Will have progressed for the race, and from the 5-spot looks competitive for the win
- KING MOKO – Has not been seen out since running 3rd over 2600m in Victoria Park in late-November, and has never delivered at Vincennes
- KRUGER DU NORD – Surprisingly lacklustre 5th in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E late last month. Presents respectable Vincennes credentials but represents a minor place chance at best
- KILLER DE CAHOT – Ran courageous 3rd in a 2850m Class D over the inner course on 19 January. Is seldom seen over these shorter trips but is proven and, despite the wide draw, must not be overlooked
- KETBERNY – Consistently-performant type that has been knocking at the door lately. Breaks wide, and is unlikely to impose, but can nevertheless trot his way into the money
- KOOL DU CHATELET – Eliminated early in a 2850m Class D here on 19 January, but showed his form nevertheless. Thibaut Dromigny would have preferred a better draw but in current condition is still very easy to like
- KLEMS DE JAVIE – Below-par 7th of 13 in a Cagnes Class D on 11 January. Has never excelled over the Vincennes main track and is not about to start now
- KOLBY DE CLARAFLOR – Reassuring winner of a Class E over course and distance on 27 January. On back line this time and, in this company, cannot be considered a contender
- KOCKTAIL WOOD – Previously a good sort but has been struggling lately and will first need to get his house in order
- KEOPS DU BUHOT – Won at Le Mans in December then followed that up with victory at Graignes on 11 January. Is reunited with David Thomain but has been poorly-drawn and is unlikely to spring any surprises
Summary: Unthreatening but encouraging on his first start for 2 months, KENNEDY FRANCE (5) flew up the last time under these conditions and, at this level, can open his 2026 account. KELLER DE L’ITON (2) has done nothing but improve with every run here and, from the 2-spot, represents the main danger. Much improved in his last 2 starts, even though eliminated last time, KOOL DU CHATELET (10) has been handed a tough draw but sports a fresh configuration and, on good behaviour, can trot his way onto the podium. Barefoot following his conditioner here early last month, KING D’HERMES (1) will be barefoot this time and is unlikely to disappoint.
