C1 – PRIX DE L’AVRE – 2400m (a1m1/2) – TURF – Listed Race – Flat – EUR € 55,000

  1. SURABAD – Won nicely when making all the running over 2400m at Saint-Cloud in a Class 2 race on March 29th. Looks progressive and can feature
  2. AZOU – Won on his second start over 2500m at Nancy in a maiden race on April 5th. Might need a few to falter
  3. MILITARY AIR – Placed on both runs this year, 3rd on the latter over 2100m at Saint-Cloud on April 4th in a Class 1 race. He seems to be getting better with experience
  4. GOLDEN WEAVER – Won on his second start over 1800m at Lyon La Soie on December 2nd in a maiden race. Tries turf for the first time and others rate higher
  5. KILLARY KING – Fair 4th last time in a Class 1 race at Cagnes-Sur-Mer on February 16th over 2150m and a win before that over the same track and trip in January. One to keep safe
  6. CROQUIS – Progressed to win on his second start over 2400m in a maiden at Lyon Parilly on April 16th. He can keep on improving and play a lead role
    Summary: SURABAD (1) seemed to enjoy positive tactics when scoring at Saint-Cloud last time out in a Class 2 race late in March, and might just edge this if ridden similarly. MILITARY AIR (3) will be a threat and has performed well on both starts this year. He should appreciate the step up in trip. KILLARY KING (5) won twice at Cagnes-Sur-Mer earlier in the year and ran a creditable race when fourth in a Class 1 race at the same track in mid-February.

  8. KLIFF BERE – Fair 3rd over 3000m in a Listed race at Saint-Cloud on March 29th behind BEL ET BIEN (1). He will strip fitter, although others preferred
  9. PRESAGE NOCTURNE – Creditable 4th over 3000m in a Group 2 race at K.Abdulaziz (SAU) on February 22nd, and a win before that in a Listed race at Deauville in December. Stays well and warrants respect
  10. CANDELARI – Unbeaten in all three starts, the latter over 2700m in a Class 1 race at Chantilly on his last run on March 9th by 0.75L. He tries the turf for the first time and can be a threat
  11. CHESS – Ran well to be 2nd over 3100m at this track in a Class 2 race on April 17th. This will be more testing
  12. ANNABEL’S GHOST – Won on his last start over 2600m at Fontainebleau on April 12th in a Class 3 race. Has a more difficult task
  13. INTERNAUTE – Good win over 2400m in a Listed race at Saint-Cloud on March 20th, 5th before that in the Grand Prix De Paris (Gr.1) in July. Should stay and gain success
    Summary: INTERNAUTE (7) won nicely in a Listed race at Saint-Cloud on March 20th, and his style of racing suggests he will appreciate the step up in trip today. He is preferred over the unbeaten CANDELARI (4), who has impressed with three wins on the PSF this winter. His latest was over 2700m in a Class 1 race, and he will have no issues with this trip. PRESAGE NOCTURNE (3) was fourth in a competitive race in Saudi Arabia last time and can have a say. BEL ET BIEN (1) heads the remainder.

    Summary: TIMES WARRIOR (3) comes into this on the back of two strong placed efforts this year, most recently finishing second in a Class 1 handicap over 1400m at this track earlier this month. He looks ready to get his head in front. TORTISAMBERT (4), who finished third in that same race, is progressing well and should be close again. SKYLIGHT BROCHARD (1), though carrying top weight, makes solid each-way appeal. MIELA (15), a winner on her penultimate start, is respected, while CENTENARIO (9) rounds out the shortlist.

  37. AVENTURE – Placed on all seven starts last year, the latter when 2nd over 2400m in the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe (Group 1) over 2400m at this track on October 6th. Class act and can get off to a good start for the year
  38. ZUNA – Nice win over 2100m in a Listed race at this track on April 6th on her latest start. Can play a lead role
    Summary: AVENTURE (8) was a model of consistency throughout last season, never finishing outside the frame. She signed off with an excellent second in the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe over 2400m at this track on October 6th and is expected to make a winning return. ZUNA (9) impressed when winning a Listed race here on April 6th and looks a major player once more. EUBOA (7) finished second to ZUNA (9) in that contest and should be involved again, while GRAND STARS (5) is another worth considering.

  41. HORIZON DORE – Ran well to be 2nd behind MAP OF STARS (4) in the Prix D’Harcourt (Gr.2) over 2000m on April 6th. Merits consideration
  42. MAP OF STARS – Two wins this year, the latter over 2000m in the Prix D’Harcourt (Gr.2) over 2000m on April 6th by an easy 2.5L. He is improving and register a first Group 1 success
  43. SOSIE – Class act, won three times last year, the Grand Prix De Paris (Gr.1)over 2400m in July, and he finished the year with a 4th in the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe (Gr.1) at this track in October. Live chance
  44. HIGHER LEAVES – She won on her last start over 2100m in a Group 3 race at Toulouse on November 11th. Deserves to take her chance although she has a stiff task ahead
    Summary: MAP OF STARS (4) has looked highly progressive this year, winning both starts in style, including a comfortable success in the Group 2 Prix d’Harcourt over 2000m on April 6th. He is narrowly preferred over the classy SOSIE (5), a Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris winner last July, who signed off with a strong fourth in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October. AL RIFFA (2), a Group 1 winner in Germany last year, adds further depth and must be respected.

    Summary: ABIAT (2) made a decent return to the season with a fourth over 1400m at Fontainebleau on April 1st in a conditions race and can get off the mark. WHITE PLATIN (1) has been racing in stronger class handicaps recently and can have a say in the finish. SHA TIN (11) was pleasing second on the turf at Chantilly earlier this month and is one for the each-way backers to look at. WIND OF CHANGE (7) makes up the shortlist.

    Summary: EXXTRA (10) finished the season with a good fourth in the Prix De La Foret (Gr.1) at this track on October 6th. She runs well fresh and will be ready for this Listed event. JASNA’S SECRET (9) was fourth in a Listed race in August at Deauville and could be the main danger with fitness taken on trust. CHIARANIYA (4) can improve from a recent run when acquitting herself well at Chantilly in mid-March. She can make the frame. DYPTIQUE (2) is also worth a mention.

    Summary: BENIMARU (2) was a decent second at Saint-Cloud on the last start earlier this month in a Class 3 handicap and looks like the best option in this race. FAMILIAR (4) was third on his penultimate start at Saint-Cloud in a similar type of race and poses the main danger. BE A LORD (15) appeals each way as he looks well handicapped at the moment. WEDGEWOOD PEARL (6) will be in a good frame of mind after a recent win on the PSF and is capable on turf.

    Summary: AURORA’S BEAUTY (4) was a nice third on her latest start over 1900m at Chantilly in late March and has claims to get off the mark. ANIELSKA (2) was a pleasing third at Saint-Cloud two runs back and could be the one that makes the selection work hard for success. CARTIMANDUA (5) has eased in the handicap and is one to look at each way. SUMMER FLIRT (16) is racing from the foot of the weights and can make the top four.

  1. IT’S DU QUENNE – Came 2nd at Nancy before running 4th of 15 in a 2550m Reims Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Is a class above most here and can get his nose in front this time
  2. JIM DE SUCE – Ran 4th here before coming 2nd of 16 in a 2825m Cordemais Class E late last month. Makes just 2nd appearance in the amateur category but still looks a serious proposition
  3. JUMPER MATIDY – Returns to competition not having been seen out since running 2nd of 9 in a 2600m Landivisiau monte Class F last September. Clearly better under the saddle but in the day’s configuration should not be underestimated
  4. JUSTE DE MELLERAY – Unraced since finishing 8th of 15 in a 2800m Pontchateau Class E in early-January. Has been reconfigured but takes first amateur steps with limited ambition.
  5. HAPPY DES ILES – Modest mare starting for first time since being sanctioned in a 3100m monte Class H at Nort-sur-Erdre last September and has no possible chance
  6. INDIE FOR MONEY – Amateur debutante making first start since finishing last but one in a 2625m Cherbourg Class G last November and others easier to recommend
  7. INTACT DU TERTRE – Last but one, on return to competition, in a 2800m Vire amateurs Class G last weekend. Enjoys a good entry, is barefoot for the occasion, and should not be ruled out
  8. ICONIC JET – 12th of 14 finishers on comeback in a 3200m Fougeres amateurs Class H on 23 March. Hind shoes off but would be preferred on turf
  9. GLAXO LEMAN – Surprisingly below-par 8th of 14 in a 2750m Elbeuf amateurs Class H a fortnight ago but is much better than that and is expected to bounce back and finish in the mix
  10. JO DU DON – Makes first start since finishing last of 13 in a 2725m Pornichet Class D last September. Is shod for re-entry but in this category is unlikely to disappoint
  11. HUIZON DES TITHAIS – Out of the picture in all 5 this year, latterly last of 11 in a 3125m Ranes amateurs Class H last Monday, and can be written off
  12. FLASH BACK DU NORD – Made up for a disappointing effort here when 2nd of 11 in a 2850m Parilly amateurs Class G last weekend. Races shod this time but has previously won under these conditions and will be expected to play an active role
    Summary: Runner-up in both barefoot starts here, IT’S DU QUENNE (1) has been showing his form and will not have Just Remember to contend with this time. He is still going to be opposed by JIM DE SUCE (2) who has been knocking at the door lately, and the well-engaged and shod FLASH BACK DU NORD (12) who should again defy the penalty. GLAXO LEMAN (9) also breaks from the rear but will be no pushover if he replicates his Saint-Malo performance.

    Summary: Third here before going on to confirm at Nort-sur-Erdre a fortnight later, LOEM DU TAY (8) is ideally-engaged and from the front line can open his 2025 account. That being said, LOTUS MADRIK (1), who won on debut here, returns from a short spell and has the quality to win a race of this nature. LAPS GEDE (11) was not the luckiest in Paris recently and even though returning to racing shod, still looks a priority. LOYAL DU CHENE (10) has a race under his belt, is confirmed at Chartres, and the Gelormini-factor cannot be ignored.

    Summary: HEAD OF STATE (5) was a good winner last time out at Vincennes earlier this month. That win suggested another one would not be far away. GLAMOUR YOMA (10) fluffed his lines last time out but had some good wins before that and can bounce back to score. IL VIENT DU LUDE (2) is in very good form and would not be a surprise winner. IMPULSE JULRY (8) was better last year but is also clearly not out of it.

  54. KANTARELLINA CHIC – Yet to win a race and she has been disqualified in her last two starts, with the latest being at Feurs on 7 April. Ran some good races last year and can surprise when wise
  55. KAKUETA VEDAQUAISE – Bounced back from some disqualifications with a good third last time out in Class E at Feurs over 2100m on 7 April . Capable of fighting out the finish when in the mood
  56. KATE BRIONNAISE – Holding form and finished fourth last time out in a Class F Mounted race at Lyon-La Soie over 2700m on 27 February. Can be a threat back in a harness race
  57. KOPALINE DE CHENOU – Disappointing last run when 6th in Class E at Vincennes over 2175m on 11 April. A winer of her penultimate start and is capable of an upset
  58. KLAIRE DE PLAY – Disqualified at this track on 20 April. Battling to regain her best form and needs to find a few lengths to win
    Summary: KAVALE ERCA (11) remains in very good form and gets a narrow vote to score. KAKUETA VEDAQUAISE (13) is not easy to trust but did run well last time out and has a winning chance if repeating that level of form. KANTARELLINA CHIC (12) ran some nice races last year in better fields than this but does have disqualification issues and has yet to win a race. KATCHINA (10) does well when barefoot and has winning claims.

  71. LUXOR D’ECAJEUL – Yet to win a race and finished 7th last time out in Class E at this track over 2600m on 14 April. Did better last year and could play a minor role
    Summary: LUCKY ARCTIC (7) is at his best over further but can pull off a hat-trick by winning over this shorter distance. LAZZARO THE BEST (5) clearly likes this course and has also run well over this distance, so will be a threat once again. LEADER DES APRES (3) was a barefoot winner over a lot further last time out and can be competitive. LAPIN AGILE (8) is improving and capable of making the frame.

    Summary: LA BELLA WOOD (3) is hat-trick seeking after some smart wins and looked particularly good at Marseille-Borély. This shorter distance should not be a problem. LOVE ME SAUTREUIL (4) fluffed her lines with a disqualification at La Capelle but is better over this shorter distance and would not be a surprise winner. LERMINE D’OLIVERIE (7) is capable of winning at this level but is hard to trust. LIBERTÉ DU RIB (2) is in good form and can get into the mix of things again.

    Summary: A small field but a decent race. JALNO MADRIK (7) has been good this year and sets the standard for the race. JACKPOT MATH (5) has struck form with two good wins and will be testing these rivals right down to the line. KHEOPS DU LOISIR (1) has disqualification issues but is coming off a smart win. HASHTAG D’EMOTION (4) can also be a threat returning to a Mounted race and deserves some respect.

  102. MIAMI SAUTREUIL – Showed some improvement when fourth in Class F at this track over 2850m on 14 April. Capable of making the frame
  103. MATYSS – Showed some improvement when 5th last time out in Class F at this course over 2100m on 20 April. Might play a minor role
  104. MISKA DE L’ETANG – Finished 8th on her debut in Class G at Paray-le-Monial over 2025m on 6 April. Needs major improvement to win this race
  105. MOVE SIXTY ONE – Disqualified in his last three starts, with the latest being at this course on 14 April. Capable of a surprise if wise this time
    Summary: MY MARCEAUX (8) only found one better over this course and distance at the beginning of this month. He can take out this lucky last race. MARILYN MONROE (2) has major disqualification issues but is capable of getting involved in the finish. MA ROBSONS (7) fluffed her lines with a disqualification in a Mounted race but can be a threat. MAREVA (6) won well on debut but was disqualified last time out. She can be a lively danger if wise this time.
