He has a chance. CITY OF HOPE (10) comes into the race fresh off a victory at Compiegne and can follow up. ROYALWOOD (17) is a must for most bets especially the quartet. She has won her last three.

2. TORTISAMBERT – Finished a creditable 5th in the Group III Prix Djebel over 1400m at Deauville in his first outing on turf. Should have a role to play eased in grade

3. PIANO BAR – Has never finished worse than 2nd in in his three outings, winning once. Runner-up over 1350m at Angers on 21 May – candidate for success

4. UNE PEINTURE – Unplaced in both comeback outings this year – the latest (7th) over 1350m at Angers on 21 May – but remains capable of doing better. Place chance

8. CABERNET FRANC – Revealed considerable promise as a two-year-old last season and would’ve come on appreciably after a much-needed comeback outing (6th) over 1800m at Chantilly on 15 April. Warrants respect

9. SHAMROCK GLITTER – Beat Group I Prix du Jockey Club runner-up First Look over 1600m on PSF at Chantilly before a stint in Dubai, which included a last-start 3rd in the 1600m Jumeirah Guineas at Meydan on 2 February

10. CHIARANIYA – Toronado filly who caught the eye when making a winning debut over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer on 21 January. Could be anything

11. DREAM WHISPER – Consistent, versatile filly with sound references/form credentials including a last-start 3rd on the PSF over 1400mat Chantilly on 17 May. Not taken lightly

12. LA MANDALA – Wasn’t beaten far when 5th of 7 in a Class 2 conditions race at this venue on 9 May. Could get into the picture

14. TARNAC – Debut winner over 1600m on PSF at Chantilly on February and didn’t go unnoticed when 5th of 7 in a Class 2 conditions race over that track and trip on 14 March. Dark horse in her first start on turf

Summary: In his last appearance on French soil, SHAMROCK GLITTER (9) dominated First Look, runner-up in the recent Group I Prix du Jockey Club. He acquitted himself during a stint in Dubai and has legitimate claims of making a winning return. TORTISAMBERT (2) is likely to lead the opposition in the company of KESHAPOUR (1), who would have improved after a much-needed comeback outing. PIANO BAR (3) completes the shortlist.

C6 – PRIX DE L’ILE DE LA CITE – 1300m (a6f1/2) – TURF – Class 2 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 53,000

1. LANAKEN – Caught the eye when finishing 5th in a lucrative QUinte+ handicap over 1400m at this venue in April. Shouldn’t be hastily condemned following his latest appearance (11th) in a conditions race here over 1400m on 9 May

2. WHISPERING DREAM – Consistent filly with sound references/form credentials, including a place at Listed level on the Deauville straight in April. Returns to French soil with legitimate ambitions after finishing 4th over 1300m at Hanovre on 1 May

3. PEDRITO – Has placed twice in as many appearances on this course. Out of sorts recently (finished 10th in a 1400m Quinte at this venue on 28 April) but dangerous to discount off a 1kg lower mark

4. TORPEN – Confirmed the form/improvement of his previous outing (4th at this level) by finishing 3rd over 1200m at Saint-Cloud on 25 May. Candidate for success

5. BAILEYS BLUES – Supplemented to participate in this event, despite finishing unplaced and soundly beaten in each of his last three appearances (all at this level) – the latest (14th) over 1400m at this venue on 28 April

6. DENVER CHOP – Left a favorable impression when 4th in a 1200m Quinté+ on 15 April. His competitiveness off this mark is beyond doubt but he is probably most effective over a slightly shorter distance

7. ROYAL SHAKE – FInished an eye-catching 2nd in his first start at this level in a 1400m Quinte+ at this venue on 28 April. Drawn wide in stall No 14 but will have headgear fitted – high on the shortlist

8. CIAO PA’ – Has sparked improvement recently, albeit in races at a lower level – finished 3rd in a 1350m claimer at ANgers on 21 May. Has more to do

9. CHIRIMIRI – Soundly beaten in both comeback outings this year after a 14-week absence, the latest (13th) in a 1200m Quinte+ at Chantilly on 15 April. Outsider

10. WHITE PLATIN – Inconsistent hard-knocker with sufficient means to play a leading role in races at this level. Only 11th in a 1400m QUinte+ at this venue last time (28 April) but remains capable of better

11. DROGO – Has improved recently with each outing at this level and confirmed as much by finishing 2nd over 1200m in a Quinte+ at Chantilly on 7 May. Dark horse

12. GALIK – Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 8th in a 1200m conditions race at Saint-Cloud on 25 May but is probably most effective on PSF. Best watched for now

13. TIMES BOULEVARD – Unexposed filly with undeniable means. Returned to form with an improved/encouraging 2nd in a 1350m Lyon-Parilly handicap on 18 May. Keep safe

14. CHANEL GOLD – Inconsistent but undeniably capable filly who shouldn’t be hastily condemned after her 10th in a  1400m Quinte+ at Saint-Cloud on 20 May. Can do better

15. OMICRONE – Won back-to-back PSF handicaps in September and October but was soundly beaten on her reappearance (12th) in a 1400m Quinte+ at Saint-Cloud on 20 May. For another day

16. BIG STAR – Soundly beaten on his reappearance in a recent 1400m claiming race at this venue on 16 May. Others preferred

Summary: A winner on this course in October in a slightly stronger race/field, PEDRITO (3) has experienced varying fortunes since. He had legitimate excuses for his latest failure and soft ground will greatly serve his interests, so is certainly capable of redeeming himself at long odds. LANAKEN (1), efficient on this Longchamp layout, TIMES BOULEVARD (13), back on track after a long career break, and ROYAL SHAKE (7), who was 2nd in the reference race on 28 April, are others with legitimate winning ambitions. TORPEN (4), despite his wide stall, WHITE PLATIN (10) and DENVER CHOP (6) are possibilities for places in a typically wide-open Quinte+ event.

C7 – PRIX DE BELLECHASSE – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 23,000

1. QUASAR – Debut winner at Toulouse in March but has been somewhat disappointing since – unplaced in both subsequent appearances, the latest (9th) over 1600m at Bordeaux on 16 May

2. KASPIA TRIP – The highest-rated runner in the race. Caught the eye when finishing 5th with blinkers refitted in a conditions race over track and trip on 9 May

3. LA TOUR DU BOIS – Won a Le Croisé-Laroche handicap over 1800m but struggled under a resultant penalty to only finish 7th over 2000m at Chantilly on 29 April

4. MARINELLA – Would’ve improved after finishing 4th on debut over 2600m at Morlaix on 12 May. Could get into the picture

5. INTUITION – Finished 3rd in a PSF claimer at Chantilly early last month but failed to confirm that form when only 6th in a 1600m claimer at Saint-CLpud on 14 May. More effective on the all-weather

6. BEST OFFER – Has regressed in her two starts after a pleasing debut 4th at Saint-Cloud. Could only finish 9th in a 1600m conditions event at Chantilly on 17 May but should be formidable at this level

Summary: BEST OFFER (6) has revealed sufficient means to win a race of this nature and, under bottom-weight seems worth siding with in her first appearance at this level. KASPIA TRIP (2), a winner over this trip, and top-weight QUASAR (1), with Maxime Guyon in the irons, are best equipped to pose a threat. INTUITION (5), who finished 3rd in this grade two starts back, is a contender for the podium.

3. VENES – Improved in first-time headgear to win over 1500m on PSF at Marseille-Vivaux in April and confirmed that form/progress by finishing 3rd in a 1600m Lyon-Parilly handicap on 8 May

4. INATTENDU – Linesup here in good form and physical condition after following his PSF 2nd at Chantilly with a respectable 3rd in an 1800m conditions race at Dieppe on 29 May

5. JACKY – Bounced right back to his best with blinkers fitted to win a 1900m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 11 May. Ought remain competitive under a 3kg penalty

10. TAYBET – Unplaced in all 4 comeback outings this year after a lengthy absence but has dropped considerably in the weights/ratings as a result. Could only finish 10th in a claimer over 1800m at Le Croise-Laroche on 19 May

13. CARRY BAY – Debut winner at Senonnes in April last year but has regressed since. Finished a well-beaten 9th over 1600m at Compiegne on 24 May

Summary: Having gone very close to winning his last two starts, AMERICAN HOPE (6) is good value to go one better in this concluding contest. VENES (3) proved his competitiveness off his current mark (under a penalty) by finishing 3rd last time and is likely to fight for victory with a repeat of that performance. Fellow last-start winner JACKY (5) and the consistent duo of INATTENDU (4) and THREE DREAMS (8) are others likely to make their presence felt.

Summary: CESAR DE BALLON (3) has a spin over hurdles on May 17th at La Teste when he was fourth. That was his first run for over a year, so he will be sharper today and can enjoy the return to fences. He can score from ILYVA (4) who was a good second two runs ago over this track in a Class 3 chase in early May. SOLIGO (6) is seeking a hat-trick and warrants respect. He was a facile winner last time in mid-May and can not be discounted. BORD D ‘EAUX (5) makes up the shortlist.

8. DORAM – 3rd on the flat over 1400m in April 7th when last seen at Prague(CZE). Hard to fancy on hurdles debut

9. LEADER D’ARAIZE – Unplaced on the sole run over hurdles at Nantes on April 18th over 3500m in a Class 4 race. Opposable

10. REVIENT DU LARGE – 7th on the sole run over hurdles at Dieppe over 3200m on May 2nd. Needs vast improvement to be involved

Summary: QUANTOCK HILLS (5) made a pleasing debut when second at Dieppe last month and can be more streetwise for that run this time. He can get off the mark from ENJOY (1) who beat the selection narrowly at Dieppe and with a penalty this time it makes his job that bit harder. MAGUELON (4) won on debut at Royan and is sure to make progress and has place claims. KABALLERO (2) heads the remainder.

8. PEPITA STREET – Newcomer by Petrillo, stable runners are not known for making a winning debut. Watch the betting for any support

Summary: LILICA (4) caught the eye when she was a good second on her debut in mid-May over 3550m at Chateaubriant. She can improve and looks like the best option in this race. LA DRONNE (1) won narrowly on her sole run so far at Dieppe and looks like the biggest threat. IRINA HAS (6) is the each-way angle. She has a taking profile and will be expected to make the top three on her debut.  KISSY (3) is also worth a mention.

Summary: JUST A JOKE (2) is expected to get the hat-trick of wins after a nice win in a Class 2 hurdle when last racing in mid-November. He will be fit enough after a six-month break. GREYM (4) has been running well of late and was a pleasing second at Moulins last time in late May. She will make her rivals work hard for success.  JANNINA (11) is also worth consideration and will not be far away at the business end. CHIEF COVE (5) makes up the shortlist.

9. VULCANIO – Unplaced on his hurdling debut at Compiegne on April 8th last time, placed and a winner on the flat over 2400m on the PSF in December. Best watched for now

10. KLIMT DES PICTONS – 4th last time over 3550m in a Class 4 hurdle on May 19th. Should improve and has an outside place chance

11. JARDIN D’EOLE – Three unplaced runs, the latter over 3600m in a Class 4 hurdle on May 28th. Looks of limited ability

12. BAISER DORE – Below par un last time after a pleasing 5th on his debut over 3550m in a Class 4 hurdle on April 17th. Ought to be in the shake-up

Summary: VIXOSS BARELIERE (5) has shown talent on both of his runs so far and gets the marginal vote in this ahead of BAISER DORE (12) who ran well on debut two runs ago when fifth. Despite a below-par effort last time he could be the one to serve it up to the selection. DEMON VERT (3) is possibly the one to be with from an each-way perspective.  FLASH DE LA CHANIE (4) was a winner last time at Wissembourg and is sure to make an impact.

5. KIMHERA DENGILBERT – Unraced filly by Beaumec De Houelle, should be well prepared for this debut run. Any market support should be noted

6. MAJESTIKA – Newcomer by Masterstroke, the dam won 6 races over hurdles and fences. Ought to have a say on her debut run

7. SWING THE RING – Three unplaced runs of late, won before that over 2000m on the PSF on January 9th in a Class 3 handicap. Hurdle debut and warrants respect

8. INFINIE DE L’ORME – 4th over 3400m last time in a claiming hurdle on January 1st. Looks hard to make a case for

9. WALZER DE REVE – Newcomer by Walzertakt, should be better for this debut run. Watch the betting exchanges for any support

10. KALI NOIRE – 2nd on the flat over 3100m on May 8th when last seen. Tries hurdles and will be well schooled by her shrewd trainer

11. KIMBALA DE COTTE – Newcomer by Robin Du Nord, will likely require this outing for experience. Watch the betting for clues

12. KADY VILLE – 5th over fences last time at Loudeac on April 21st over 3500m in a Class 4 race. Hardly inspiring

Summary: MAVERICK LADY (2) is talented having run well when third two starts ago in late March. She failed to feature last time at Auteuil in late April but had excuses. She can get back on track and score here from COOKYNELLE (3) who is seeking another success after scoring on her debut at Wissembourg last month by three lengths. 3. ESPOIR ROYAL – 2nd last time over 3800m at Nancy in a Class 3 hurdle on May 5th. One to keep safe

4. IDOLE DU CHENET – Nice 3rd over 3800m at Wissembourg last time on May 20th in a Class 4 handicap hurdle. In the mix

5. TONERRE DU TEMPS – 6th last time at Auteuil over 3600m in a handicap hurdle on June 1st. Will not lack fitness and can be involved

7. JUSTE UNE D’ATHOU – Two unplaced runs of late, won before that over 3800m at Moulins in a Class 3 hurdle on September 30th. Needs to bounce back to form

8. SPES ENERGICALL – 6th over 3800m in a handicap chase last time on January 7th. Looks hard to recommend

9. IMANO – 5th last time, won before that over 4200m in a claiming hurdle on April 27th. Others seem more likely

10. RIM FIRE – Unplaced last time, 2nd over 4000m in a Class 5 chase before that at Orleans on May 5th. Hard to fancy

11. ANA MARTINA – Two unplaced runs of late, 4th before that over 3400m in a Class 4 chase on September 10th at Le Touquet. Pass over

Summary: MOI PRESIDENTE (2) will strip fitter for a nice effort when second at Dieppe in early May and can get back in the winner’s circle. TRANSATLANTIC (1) is respected and could be the one that makes the selection work hard for success. TONERRE DU TEMPS (5) was a credible sixth in a stronger handicap hurdle last time at Auteuil and looks like the best each-way option. IDOLE DU CHENET (4) is one for the each-way backers to latch on to.

1. LORD DU BASSIN – Put on a good show to come 3rd of 9 finishers in a 2300m Le Mans Class F a month ago, first time out. Is sure to have progressed and has a legitimate claim on a place in the frame

2. LEOPARD WIT – Oddly disappointing last of 9 in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 25 May. Has merit but still has more to find

3. LEFORT FLIGNY – Solid in first 2 before being sanctioned in a 2150m Enghien Class D on 2 May. Change of driver this time and no more than a minor place prospect

4. LORD DES FANES – Unraced since faulting, for the 4th time in a row, in a 2200m Vincennes Class C early-February, and is unlikely to shake things up

5. LOUPIAC DE GODREL – Steps up in class after trotting 2nd of 11 in a 2325m Bernay claimer late-May but will quickly find himself out of his comfort zone

6. LOVER MAN – Has gone from strength to strength, most recently getting off the mark in a 2800m Cholet Class F. Steps up in category but still looks a serious proposition

7. LAPS GEDE – 7th of 9 finishers, on re-entry, in a 2800m Cholet Class D on 29 April. Entrusted to Yoann Lebourgeois for the occasion and will be expected to give this a good go. Place chance

8. LUMINEUSE DE BRION – Secured her 2nd straight victory, winning a 2800m Chartres Class E with authority, late-April. Comes here fresh and has every chance of pulling off the 3-timer

9. LOVING DREAM – Makes first appearance for almost 2 months after a disappointing 5th of 6 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D. Has freshness on his side, should appreciate Pontchâteau conditions, and will not be far off the mark

Summary: After faulting first time out, LUMINEUSE DE BRION (8) then went on to win two on the trot and can expect the lion’s share of support as she bids for the hat-trick. That said, Mathieu Mottier’s LOVER MAN (6) has significant untapped potential and is not incapable of repeating his Cholet success. After a much-needed freshener, the promising LAPS GEDE (7) gets a leading driver for the occasion and can get straight back in the game. Held back for almost a year following his good qualification, LORD DU BASSIN (1) will have come on for his good debut run and with Alexandre Abrivard in the wagon, will be afforded every chance.

1. KOMERE DE CORDAY – 4th behind KADOLE JULOUROZO (13) in a 2800m Chartres Class E early-May, having won over course and distance on comeback a month earlier. Sports modified shoeing and will be worth monitoring

2. KABALA QUICK – Has evident ability but sanctioned in last 4, latterly a 2850m Laval Class E 2 weeks ago, and even with front pads fitted, is unlikely to cause an upset

3. KATLINE MOUROTAISE – Last of 7 in a 2850m Class E at Maure-de-Bretagne on 12 May, on first start since the autumn. Preparing for a monté campaign and can be ruled out

4. KELOMA DREAM – Defied her odds to come a close 2nd of 15 in a 2850m Laval Class E in early-May and can finish in the thick of things provided Laurent-Michel David keeps her trotting

5. KISS AND FORGET – Sanctioned early in a 2450m Caen Class E last week. Won 3 of the 4 races she has finished however and, if Anthony Barrier assures her initial strides, she could pleasantly surprise

6. KIRENE FLASH – Opened her account in a 2725m Graignes Class F a fortnight ago, when first time barefoot. Steps up in category but with shoes off again is unlikely to disappoint

7. KOUMBA MESLOISE – Well-backed when sanctioned in a 2875m Argentan Class E late last month. Eric Raffin takes over in the sulky and, while not a priority, there will be aspirations for a spot in first 5

8. KORALINE DU LUPIN – 2nd of 10, despite a serious blunder entering the final turn, in a 2800m Cholet Class F mid-May. Debuts left-handed but in present form is hard to ignore. Claim

9. KISMIE DE MONTFORT – Has progressed nicely of late, most recently 3rd of 16 in a 2950m Le Mans Class F early-May. In better company this time though and others preferred

10. KALINE FOUR – 5th of 13 in a 2875m Argentan Class E late last month. Has left-handed references but still not an obvious choice

11. KALINE JAMINI – Useful filly making her first appearance since coming 4th of 16 in a 2850m Laval Class E late-April. Alexandre Abrivard gets the nod this time and will be expected to finish close

12. KEEP ON ROLLING – Promising filly but has not been seen out since coming last of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D on Christmas Day and will need the run

13. KADOLE JULOUROZO – Good 2nd of 12 in a 2800m Chartres Class E a month ago. Is plainly close to her race and is not without a chance of upsetting the KORALINE DU LUPIN (8) apple-cart

14. KYA D’ERABLE – 2nd of 11 in a 2450m Caen Class E last week. Hind shoes back on this time and can compete for a cheque if she takes to the new conditions

Summary: Back at the top of her game since starting to race barefoot, KORALINE DU LUPIN (8) put on quite the show at Cholet last time out and, if she turns, can win this. KADOLE JULOUROZO (13), however, appears to have turned a corner, sports a new configuration, and will be no pushover. KELOMA DREAM (4) may not be the easiest of horses to handle but she reassured at Laval last month and must be considered a leading proposition. KALINE JAMINI (11) similarly showed a different side at Laval a week earlier and, fresh for the occasion, is unlikely to be far off the mark.

1. KORSO SNOB – 5th of 10 finishers in a 2600m Meslay-du-Maine Class E mid-May. Shoes on again but still not an obvious choice

2. KANTARO DU TRESOR – Has done little to displease this year, most recently 5th behind KARMA TEJY (9) in a 2800m Chartres Class E a month back. Not a priority but should nevertheless hold his own

3. KEMEUNEUR – Failed to confirm his Rostrenen success when 6th of 11 in a 2650m Alençon Class F last Sunday, and chances even more limited this time

4. KING EVOLUTION – Lost his action in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class E late-May, but has otherwise been in good shape and can get a look-in if he keeps his action together

5. KLIF DE LA MITRIE – Has bags of ability but sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2300m Châteaubriant Class E on 26 May. Leading driver back in the hot-seat and can guide him home if he deigns to stay in stride

6. KING DE CHOISEL – Has turned a corner since starting to race barefoot, most recently winning a 2825m Class F at Sablé-sur-Sarthe on 26 May. Is confirmed here and looks a serious player

7. KANSAS DU HOCTI – 7th of 8 in a 2875m Argentan Class E on re-entry late-May and already looks out of his depth

8. KOOL GEORGES – Solid winner of a 2725m Graignes Class F on 24 May when unshod-behind for first time. Same formula here and must be afforded respect

9. KARMA TEJY – Complicated colt that reassured at Chartres before faulting in Châteaubriant race of reference. Is plainly in decent condition though and should not be too far off the mark if he keeps trotting

10. KILLER BECO – Has not been seen out since trotting 7th of 9 finishers in a 2850m Laval Class E late-March, and will have little to offer

11. KENZO D’EVA – Makes first appearance since coming 3rd of 5 finishers in a 2450m Caen monté Class E on 21 March. Has other priorities and can be ruled out

12. KAIROS MESLOIS – Pleases for the most part in current configuration. 6th of 10 finishers in a 2800m Rambouillet Class F late last month and can play a small role if he stays out of trouble

13. KLEMS DE JAVIE – Won at Chartres before coming 5th of 16 in a 2850m Laval Class E 2 weeks ago. Hind shoes off for the first time and looks competitive for a place in first 5

14. KIWI DE BAFFAIS – Winner of a 2675m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 10 May. Hind shoes off again and is in with a solid chance of doubling his money

Summary: Ideally-engaged at the limit of earnings, KIWI DE BAFFAIS (14) opened his 2024 account last month and, with form maintained, can wrap this up. Anthony Barrier will still be keeping an eye on KING DE CHOISEL (6) who imposed on turf late last month, and the complicated but talented KLIF DE LA MITRIE (5) who has yet to disappoint for Eric Raffin. KOOL GEORGES (8) made up for his Thouars clinker with victory at Graignes and must be taken more seriously this time.

1. JUSTAUCORPS – Pleased at Ecommoy before trotting 7th to JAZZ VERONE (4) in a 2875m Argentan Class E late last month, and is not about to spring a surprise

2. JOUR DE TONNERRE – Classy campaigner that faulted, on re-entry, in a 2675m Lisieux Class E mid-May. Is behind in earnings, has won almost as often as not and, with application can take his win-rate to 50%

3. JAGUAR BOURBON – 5th of 8 in a 2700m Vincennes Class E on 3 May. Yet to recapture last season’s form, but is on the right road, and should give a competitive account

4. JAZZ VERONE – Capable sort that came 3rd, at 18/1, in a 2875m Argentan Class E late last month. Pitted against better this time but worth keeping an eye on all the same

5. JOLDY LOVE – Seldom gets his nose in front but finished a good 3rd of 16 in a 2825m Class F at Sablé-sur-Sarthe late last month. In better company this time but can still get a look-in

6. JOHANA DU GUESCLIN – Took advantage of an incident to win a 2700m Graignes Class E a fortnight ago. Mathieu Mottier enlisted this time and should not be overlooked

7. JACKPOT DES BORDES – Has placed just once in 5 this season, latterly last but one in a 2675m Lisieux Class E mid-May and, new configuration or not, can be passed over

8. JOG DE JAVIE – Back at his best, latterly winning a 2700m Graignes Class E 2 weeks ago but, at this level, will need to find more

9. JANGO DU THANA – Facile winner of a 2800m Rambouillet Class F on 26 May. Has never failed to fire when unshod and looks a decent place prospect

10. JURASSIC MOIRE – Has ample ability but can prove a handful, most recently 9th of 18 in a 2750m Ecommoy Class E on 18 May. Races shod this time, which may be just what the doctor ordered. First-5 prospect

11. JOKO DE LOU – Endured all sorts of woes when sanctioned in a 2675m Lisieux Class E on 13 May. Is plainly in top condition and can even impose this time if Anthony Dillion keeps him out of trouble

12. JULLOU – Decent campaigner when focused but failed to convert his Alençon victory when sanctioned in a 2700m Vincennes Class E early last month. Is confirmed here but racing shod will do him no favours

13. JULIA DU CHERISAY – Was on a fine run of form before finishing last of 9 in a 2700m Vincennes Class E a month back and, shod this time, can be ignored

14. JEUDI DES RACQUES – Made up for his Saint-Malo sanction when 2nd of 16 in a 2825m Sablé-sur-Sarthe Class F on 26 May and will not be far from the action if he stays in stride

Summary: Simply superb last season, JOUR DE TONNERRE (2) lost his action on comeback but, with hind shoes off and Yoann Lebourgeois reining, can kickstart his 2024 season. In the frame in his first two this term, JOKO DE LOU (11) was clearly full of running when sanctioned next time but, on better behaviour, can set the record straight. JANGO DU THANA (9) has done nothing but improve since returning to competition and is an obvious selection. JEUDI DES RACQUES (14) has been knocking at the door recently and will be dangerous if  Tony Le Beller keeps him focused.

1. FLYNN STAR – Last but one in a 3500m harness Class F at Savigny-sur-Braye on 9 May. Encouraged at Elbeuf a week earlier but bites off more than he can chew this time

2. HURLEVENT – Was enjoying a productive run of form before faulting early in a 3000m Châteaubriant harness Class F late last month. Thrives in the code and with Eric Raffin onboard, can play a leading role

3. FAVORI JET – Beaten 3rd in a 2700m Vincennes Class E a month ago before coming last of 10 behind GALOPIN DE MARTHE (4) 10 days later and is unlikely to spring any surprises

4. GALOPIN DE MARTHE – 3rd of 11 at Vincennes Class E 3 weeks ago before faulting, when preparing for this, in a 2450m Caen Class E 8 days ago. Reliability not his strong suit but is worth retaining all the same

5. HOUARNEAU – Makes first start since coming 7th of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D early-February. Adrien Lamy in the irons and will be competitive for a place in the frame

6. FAKIR DU LEVANT – Won at Fougères early-May before coming in last of 8, behind GET UP BROWN (11), in a 2800m Class F at Villedieu-les-Poëles on 20 May. Returns to racing left-handed and can put things right. First 5

7. HISTOIRE JOYEUSE – Decent 3rd of 10 in a 2200m Vichy Class E on 21 May. Is plainly close to her race and makes her Pontchâteau bow with a realistic chance of finishing in the thick of things

8. HAMISH – Failed to confirm his Argentan success when 7th, behind HISTOIRE JOYEUSE (7), in a 2725m Lisieux Class E on 13 May. Is never far from surprising and must not be overlooked

9. HETRE CHANGEEN – 4th of 10, a place behind GALOPIN DE MARTHE (4), in a 2175m Vincennes Class E 3 weeks ago. Will have come on for the run and can impose this time

10. FANAK DU BOCAGE – Faulted in a 2450m Caen Class E 8 days ago, making it 4 sanctions in last 5, and is hard to make a case

11. GET UP BROWN – 2nd of 8 in a 2800m Class F at Villedieu-les-Poëles on 20 May. Takes on some serious horses this time and chances limited

12. FEE FRAULEIN – 3rd of 11 in a 2800m Carhaix harness Class F 10 days ago. Won under harness here 2 years ago but has placed just once under the saddle and others preferred

13. ELZEVIR D’ECOUVES – Makes first start under the saddle after trotting 9th of 11, behind FEE FRAULEIN (12), in a 2800m Carhaix harness Class F 10 days ago, and no fireworks anticipated

Summary: After pleasing on his return to the discipline in Paris 3 weeks ago, HETRE CHANGEEN (9) makes his Pontchâteau debut with morale intact and, in this company, can dominate. Lilian Bertin will still want to be wary of HISTOIRE JOYEUSE (7) who has twice come close recently, and HURLEVENT (2) who has taken superbly to his new vocation. HOUARNEAU (5) boasts a fine record under the saddle and even though unseen for 4 months, he is barefoot for the occasion and looks a player.

C6 – PRIX PANIER DU CLOS – 2800m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000

1. IDYLLE DE BAILL – Back under harness after being sanctioned in a 2600m monté Class F at Le Touquet on 19 May. Faulted on only start here and others preferred

2. INES DE BEYLEV – Went off the boil after winning in Paris earlier in the year. 8th of 9 finishers in a 2850m Laval Class D 2 weeks ago and can be disregarded

3. INDIC – Sanctioned in a 2200m Caen Class D 8 days ago. Regularly a question of all-or-nothing and will have his chances if Yoann Lebourgeois keeps him trotting

4. ILMAT DES KECHES – Has proved effective racing unshod, latterly 4th of 14 in a 2850m Maure-de-Bretagne Class E on 12 May. Hind shoes back on and should not be entirely overlooked

5. ITALIANO DI PAO – Out of the picture in last 2, most recently sanctioned in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E on 19 May. Gets an Eric Raffin drive this time though and can start to put the record straight

6. IRIS DU PERCHE – Rewarded with victory in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E on 19 May. In marginally better company this time but still has a realistic chance of finishing in the mix

7. INDIA SEA – Has done nothing but improve this term, most recently 2nd of 13 in a 2800m Cholet Class E mid-May, and will be competitive for the win

8. IROMEE – In the frame in last 3, most recently a 2850m Laval Class D a fortnight ago, and, winner of her last 2 in this configuration, can again go close

9. IGRISONI – Oddly out of sorts on 19 May when 11th of 15 in a 3125m Granville Class E. Shoes back on this time though and others easier to support

10. ISLAND STAR – Clearly on the way back up but faulted early in a 2850m Laval Class D a fortnight back. Solid on lone start at the venue, reverts to a successful configuration, and is not to be underestimated

11. IMPERIAL BEJI – Preparing for this when 5th of 14 in a 2675m Lisieux Class F on 13 May. Always gives his best, is unbeaten here, and can remain so

12. ICE TEA – Faulted in a 2825m Vire Class E a month ago. Form has been regressing lately and can be ruled out

Summary: IMPERIAL BEJI (11) has come close more than once to confirming his season-opening Bordeaux victory and, a winner on his only start here, he is configured similarly and can keep his Pontchâteau record intact. Anthony Barrier can still expect to feel some heat from INDIA SEA (7) who has finished runner-up in her last two, and INDIC (3) who rarely lets the side down when focused. IROMEE (8) has been enjoying something of a renaissance this year and makes her first appearance at the venue with legitimate ambition.

C7 – PRIX PIERRE RAFFRE – 2800m (a2m) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000

1. GO GARFIELD – Has been thriving in the amateur division, latterly winning an Amiens Class G over 2400m a month back, but the step up in class may be a step too far

2. HAKIRI PURPLE – 6th of 13 in a 2625m Class F at La Rochelle on 21 April. Comes here fresh but other more attractive options available

3. HORDAGO D’ELA – 7th, on comeback, in Alençon race of reference. Stays shod this time though and best to wait

4. GRAIN DE MALICE – Not the most dependable, most recently sanctioned in a 2900m Amiens Class F, but Eric Raffin reining this time and will be assured every chance

5. HAGUAIS DE LAYE – Sanctioned in last 2, most recently a 2800m Rambouillet Class F on 26 May. Front pads fitted but is better under the saddle and can be ruled out

6. GIRLY D’HUON – Has done nothing of note for some time, coming 7th of 13 finishers in a 2875m Argentan Class F late-May and, even from the front row, will struggle to make her mark

7. GITAN DE TOUCHYVON – Sanctioned in a 2800m Rambouillet amateurs Class G a fortnight ago. Benefits from a good entry though and, entrusted to Yoann Lebourgeois this time, can begin to redeem himself

8. HELIA DE LAXA – Won at Alençon before coming 9th of 14 in a 2725m Graignes Class E a fortnight ago, when being prepared for this, and competitively-shod this time looks a major player

9. HEPAX SPEED – Steps up in class after a decent streak in the claiming category, latterly 2nd of 17 over 2825m at Bernay and, ideally engaged, will generate some interest

10. FLAMME NONANTAISE – Trotted 4th in an Elbeuf claimer before faulting in a 2700m Graignes amateurs Class F on 1 May and is not about to shake things up

11. GAMELIA DU LUPIN – Won at Maure-de-Bretagne before trotting 4th to HALMA D’AMER (12) in a 3000m Nantes Class E early last month, and looks every part a place chance

12. HALMA D’AMER – Won a 3000m Nantes Class E in good order early-May. Similarly-shod this time and can make her Pontchâteau debut a winning one

13. ELDER SHADOW – 10th of 12 in a 2400m Châteaubriant Class D on 19 May. Off the boil for some time and has no realistic chance

14. FULL CASH DE PADD – Pleased in a Vincennes Class D early last month before coming 8th of 14 in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E on 20 May. Would be better off barefoot and others preferred this time

15. GAUCHO DE LA NOUE – Briefly lost his way before getting back on track when 3rd of 11 in a 2625m Class F at La Rochelle on 12 May. Has placed in 2 of 3 here and must be afforded respect

16. FARSIGHT ABSOLUTE – 9th of 17, behind GIRLY D’HUON (6), in a 2875m Argentan Class F late-May and can expect to remain friendless in the markets

17. HAILEY D’OURVILLE – Faded in the final stages to come 8th of 14 in a 2700m Vichy Class E on 21 May, but is much better than that and will be expected to make amends

18. HARDY DES LANDES – 6th of 14 in a 3000m Eauze Class A 2 weeks ago after having trotted 3rd to HELIA DE LAXA (8) at Alençon, and is not one to be underestimated

Summary: After a brace of conditioners, HALMA D’AMER (12) put to bed any concerns with an impressive victory at Nantes early last month and, in similar form, can confirm. GAMELIA DU LUPIN (11) finished 4th to her that day after having won at Maure, and should again acquit herself competitively, but may first have to give way to the capable but tricky HELIA DE LAXA (8) who is shod to preference with a 25m head-start. HAILEY D’OURVILLE (17) was found wanting at Vichy but should not be too hastily judged.

C8 – PRIX LOIC MOUTIEZ – 2800m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 29,000

1. GIGI DES NEUF CLOS – Not always the most reliable but reassured when 3rd of 13 in a 2550m Reims Class E on 20 May, and returning to racing left-handed, from the front row, will have a good card to play

2. HELIA DE FROMENTIN – 5th of 14 in a 2150m Vichy Class F a month ago but will need to find more in order to play any part here

3. HAMIGO – Hardy trotter that seldom disappoints when focused, as he recently showed when 3rd of 14 in a 2850m Maure-de-Bretagne Class E on 12 May. Breaks in front and can bring the fight to GLYCINA BELLA (10)

4. FLOCON MONTJEANAIS – Has 2 races under his belt following the break, latterly last of 11 in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class D last week. Shod to preference this time and, confirmed at the venue, will have a lot to offer from the front line

5. GALLIANO D’EVA – Was on a decent streak before coming 7th of 13 in a 2150m Vichy Class F on 12 May and, even from the front row, looks an outsider

6. GOLD DE BERG – Sanctioned in both return runs, latterly a 2725m Graignes Class E a fortnight ago, and others easier to trust

7. HIGH MONEY D’AVRAN – 8th of 15 in a 3000m Nantes Class F on Monday. Races barefoot this time and although never having delivered here, is competitively-shod, ideally-engaged, and can pick up some prizemoney

8. HAUTE COTE DE NUIT – 5th of 10 in a 2725m Graignes Class E a week ago, when still being conditioned. Adores these conditions and, shod to preference, is not to be underestimated

9. FERIA DE LIGNY – Useful mare taking a dip in category after trotting 5th of 16 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D last Friday. Races barefoot this time but will have an extra 25m to travel and others preferred

10. GLYCINA BELLA – Good 2nd of 16 in a 2825m Class E at Le Croisé-Laroche a fortnight ago. Has nothing to prove in this category and is eminently capable of imposing

11. GLOSSY BOY – Makes first appearance since faulting in a 2700m Vincennes monté Class D last November. Has other priorities and can be disregarded

12. HIPPOCRATE DU TRIO – Drops in class after coming a respectable 5th of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D a fortnight ago. On back line though and no more than a minor place prospect

13. HAMONET DE CHOISEL – Lost his action early in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class D a week ago. Does not need to be barefoot at this level and, with stride in check, can play a prominent role

14. EXPEDITIOUS – Last but one, behind FERIA DE LIGNY (9), in a 2100m Vincennes Class D mid-May. Barefoot this time but is better in claiming division these days and can be passed over

15. FISTON A PAPA – Sent for a break after faulting in a 2700m Vincennes Class D 4 months ago. Stays shod for comeback and poses no danger

Summary: Although never far from faulting, GLYCINA BELLA (10) showed last time that she is plainly close to her best and could well be rewarded with victory this time. A winner at Bordeaux before going close at Maure, HAMIGO (3) is 25m better off and in with a realistic chance of stealing her thunder. Shod this time, HAMONET DE CHOISEL (13) won 3 of 4 this term before faulting last time out, but will nevertheless be competitive if Anthony Barrier gets him off on the right foot. HAUTE COTE DE NUIT (8) thrives at Pontchâteau and, competitively-shod for her first objective of the season, will be no soft touch.
