R1 ENGHIEN [L-H]

C1 – PRIX DE CARNAC – 2250m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 33,000

  1. NATIWHEL – Racecourse debutant that qualified in a superb 1’16”8 at Caen on 21 May. Unlikely to win first time out but can still play a prominent role
  2. NAZZARENO – Debuts off the back of a 1’18”4 qualification at Caen late last month. Unlikely to take Enghien by storm but should nonetheless acquit himself honourably
  3. NEWTON LANDING – Qualified in 1’18”6 at Caen on 13 June. Nicely-related, is the pick of Louis Baudron’s duo, and the engagement of Eric Raffin speaks volumes. Chance
  4. NASDAK CHARENCEY – Sanctioned in a Class D under these conditions a week ago. Mathieu Mottier reining once more but others still easier to back
  5. NOVO SUPREME – Qualified nicely at Grosbois late-June but sanctioned early in a Class D under these conditions a week ago. Is plainly capable and can play a part if Paul Ploquin keeps him focused
  6. NICKNAME – 5th of 7 finishers, a place behind NELSON DE BUSSET (9), in a Class D over course and distance a week ago. Would have finished closer had he not faulted and is unlikely to return home empty-handed
  7. NORMAN LE BEAU – Held his own on debut early this month then ran 3rd of 10 to NAUGHTY BOYWILLIAM (10) in a 2150m Ranes Class G a week later. Is plainly on the right road but in this company will need to find more
  8. NAT KING COLE – Superb qualifier at Caen in May before coming 2nd of 8 on debut in a 2400m Carentan Class G early this month. Will have progressed for the race, should take well to the new conditions, and can impose
  9. NELSON DE BUSSET – Qualified well in May then ran 4th of 7 finishers in a Class D over course and distance a week ago. Matthieu Abrivard in the bike this time and should not be written off
  10. NAUGHTY BOYWILLIAM – Got off the mark at Ranes 2.5 weeks ago when victorious in a 2150m Class G. Faces a much stiffer test here though and chances limited
  11. NUAGE DE BEAUCAMPS – Confirmed excellent qualification when successful in a 2100m Le Touquet Class F 3 weeks ago. Is sure to have come on for the run and completing the double would be no surprise
    Summary: It is always interesting to follow the development of Philippe Allaire’s juveniles and NAT KING COLE (8) is a case in point. Solid so far without being pushed, David Thomain appears to have the plum drive. He will still want to be wary of NUAGE DE BEAUCAMPS (11) who did everything right first time out, and career debutant NEWTON LANDING (3) who has been entrusted to Eric Raffin. Similarly untried, and terrific in qualification, NATIWHEL (1) is another interesting prospect.

  12. MINNIE WIND – Qualified in 1’17″6 under harness at Caen mid-May. Top jockey aboard for racecourse debut and can be assured a competitive ride
  13. MONEY AIMEF – Qualified well but sanctioned on debut in a 2000m Class E at La Capelle on 6 July and will first need to reassure
  14. MORANE D’AVEL – Eliminated early on debut in a 2525m Savigny-sur-Braye harness Class G mid-June. Faces her first real objective and with application is unlikely to be far off the mark
  15. MY FUNNY VALENTINE – Eliminated in both starts to date, latterly on re-entry in a 2200m Agon Class F on 14 July. Anthony Barrier gets the nod here but still not a concern
  16. MASTERCLASS – Eliminated in a 2200m Agon Class F on 14 July and is too frequently sanctioned to generate much interest
  17. MAHIZ DE GUEZ – Lost her action in a 2750m Cabourg Class F 12 days ago. Has evident ability and Alexandre Abrivard will be eager to set the record straight. Claim
  18. MY LADY HERMA – Ran 2nd at La Capelle but failed to confirm when eliminated early in a 2750m Cabourg Class F on 18 July and others easier to trust
  19. MIMI D’AUTHISE – Made amends for debut elimination when victorious in a 2700m Segre Class G a month ago. Pitted against better this time but should nevertheless hold her own
  20. MOMINETTE – Has never disappointed in this branch of the business, most recently 2nd of 6 in a 2525m Class E at Les Andelys on 6 July, but has more to find this time around
  21. MARBELLA CHAFS – Last of 7 on comeback in a 2650m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne 2.5 weeks ago. Has shown promise in the ridden code but may still be a race shy
  22. MINILADY D’ODYSSEE – Placed at Caen before losing her maiden tag in a 2100m Lignieres Class F on 12 July. Is in another league this time and unlikely to influence the outcome
  23. MADAME CHENU – Placed at Laval on 20 June before winning a 2700m Graignes Class F 8 days later. Takes on better this time but still has the wherewithal to finish close
  24. MASSADA – Eliminated on re-entry in a 2000m Class E at La Capelle early this month. Paul Ploquin in the irons this time and while not a priority, should not be entirely ruled out either
  25. MA TALOU JOLY – Solid in all 3 starts to date, latterly 4th of 10 in a 2200m Vincennes Class D on 24 June. Unlikely to create an upset but is still first-5 material
  26. MARQUISE DE FAEL – Encountered no opposition en route to victory in a 2450m Caen Class F in late-March. Unseen since but will still be a tough nut to crack
    Summary: Easy winner on her monte debut 4 months ago, MARQUISE DE FAEL (15) may not have been seen since but she will have been prepared for this and can get straight down to business. MAHIZ DE GUEZ (6) has the capacity to give her a run for her money but will first need to keep her action together. MADAME CHENU (12) has started to make good on her promise and steps up in category with a good hand to play. Debutante MINNIE WIND (1) qualified nicely and gets a Mathieu Mottier ride for the occasion.

  27. LEOLIO – Sanctioned on comeback in a Class E over course and distance late last month. Is not the most generous of horses and can be ruled out
  28. LOVE ME HAUFOR – Reassuring 3rd of 14 to LE VOILA SAUTONNE in a 2200m Le Mans Class E mid-month. Fitted with pads this time though and best to wait
  29. LUSANIO DE WARNOC – 3rd of 9 in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle on 6 July. Sports similar shoeing and should figure prominently. First 5
  30. LATINO BELLO – In the frame in 2 of last 3, most recently 3rd of 14 in a 2300m Chateaubriant Class E earlier in the month. Is first time barefoot and will be no pushover
  31. LOYAL DOL – Makes metropolitan debut after dominating a 2625m Class F at La Rochelle 2.5 weeks ago. Unlikely to get his nose in front but should nevertheless acquit himself competitively
  32. L’ARGENTIER – Made amends for a brace of sanctions when securing victory in a 2725m Lisieux Class F on 3 July. In better company on this occasion but should still hold his own
  33. LE TAJ MAHAL – 8th of 11 in a 2650m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne 2.5 weeks ago. Hind shoes off this time but still has no possible chance
  34. LE VOILA SAUTONNE – Opened his 2025 account in a 2200m Le Mans Class E mid-month. Plainly back at his best and a repeat performance is not out of the question
  35. L’AS DE SMARVES – Encouraging 3rd of 9 finishers in a Class E over course and distance on 28 June. Solid in 3 of 4 with the day’s driver and can finally have his moment in the spotlight
  36. LONDON JONES – Last but one, on return to competition, in a 2775m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne 2 weeks ago. Races first-time barefoot but still not a contender
  37. LYX OF CAMARO – Set personal-best time when victorious in a 2625m Cherbourg Class F mid-June. Should take well to new profile and is unlikely to be far off the mark
  38. L’AS DES CARAIBES – Returns to racing left-handed after coming 4th of 13 in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Will be fully fit by now and looks the one to beat
    Summary: Following a pair of much-needed conditioners, L’AS DES CARAIBES (12) showed considerable improvement at Clairefontaine recently and considering the entry, can impose. He will still be forced to take on the capricious but talented L’AS DE SMARVES (9) who, with stride in check, can finally get that maiden monkey off his back, and a barefoot LATINO BELLO (4) who put things right at Chateaubriant early this month. Given ample time to recover after imposing at Cherbourg, LYX OF CAMARO (11) is very easy to recommend.

  40. MISS UNIVERS – Alternates the good with the less good, most recently winning a 2700m Avranches Class F 10 days ago. Starts in front but in this company will have too much to do
  41. MIDNIGHT CHENU – Easy winner of a 2200m Vichy Class F on 25 June. Has earned the right to race in this category and has a decent chance of making it 2 on the trot
  42. MASAI MARA – Tenacious winner of a 2725m Pornichet Class F on 3 July. Eric Raffin stays faithful and can be confident of another big run. Chance
  43. MARINE D’ERABLE – Has done nothing but improve since her June debut, latterly winning a 2225m Agon Class F on 14 July. Is well-in on the front line and unlikely to disappoint. Place chance
  44. MASTERCLASS D’EARL – Returns to racing left-handed after coming 4th of 14 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E mid-month. Always gives her best and although not a priority can still finish in the mix
  45. MARY PICKFORD – Imposed at Agon before running 4th of 8 finishers in a Class E over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago. Mathieu Mottier gets the nod this time and will be eager to defy the draw. First 5
  46. MUSE DU VALLON – 3rd of 9, despite being denied a run, in a 2650m Class D at Les Sables d’Olonne 2.5 weeks ago. Has shown ample ability and looks the pick of the field
  47. MAVANA DU DIGEON – Solid in 3 of last 4, latterly 4th of 9 in a 2725m Pornichet Class E 11 days ago. Not ideally-placed on 2nd line and will need to find significantly more
  48. MANDARINA DE LOU – Eliminated in last 2, latterly a 2750m Cabourg Class E mid-month. Has buckets of talent though, is reunited with Alexandre Abrivard who won with her in May, and despite a second-line draw can still play a role
  49. MARIE BASHKIRTSEFF – In the frame in last 3, latterly 2nd of 8 finishers in a 2950m Le Mans Class F a fortnight ago. Forced to start on back row but can still get a look in
  50. MONA D’AVRIL – Unraced since being eliminated in a 2100m Vincennes Class C last January and has little going for her
  51. MELODY MUSIC – Has not been seen out since being eliminated in a 2200m Vincennes monte Class D mid-April and has nothing to offer
  52. MILADY DE REUX – Eliminated here on 12 July before coming a somewhat unlucky 4th of 10 in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle last week. Has pulled a tough number though and others preferred
  53. MIDNIGHT DU VICLAU – Pleasantly-surprising 2nd of 9 finishers in a 2700m Class F at La Capelle 9 days ago but a repeat looks decidedly unlikely
  54. MUNIA – 7th of 8 finishers behind MARY PICKFORD (7) in a Class E over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago. Is better than recent numbers would suggest and in spite of a shocking draw must not be overlooked
    Summary: A good filly in the making, and not the most fortunate last time out, MUSE DU VALLON (8) looks close to her race and can win this if Matthieu Abrivard successfully navigates the start. Less-experienced but full of potential, MIDNIGHT CHENU (3) enjoys a better spot behind the car and must also be considered a serious proposition. Similarly well-placed, MASAI MARA (4) was notably courageous earlier in the month and will appreciate the Enghien conditions. MARINE D’ERABLE (5) lost her maiden status mid-month and, from the front row, will be competitive.

  55. JISMIE GRIFF – Has been a model of consistency all year, most recently 2nd of 13 in a 3175m Saint-Omer Class F 10 days ago. Forced to start on the rail and has never delivered here but in current condition is difficult to ignore
  56. JASMIN BLANC – Returns to racing barefoot after coming 3rd of 12 to JISMIE GRIFF (1) in a 2850m Laon Class D late last month. Has never won more than a claimer here but enjoys a good entry and must not be overlooked
  57. GLOBAL CONCEPT – Quality Swedish type that comfortably won a Class F over course and distance a week ago. Mathieu Mottier in the bike this time and from the 3-spot can repeat
  58. GIAC JOLI – Solid in all 3 starts this term, latterly 4th of 15 in a 2400m Class F at Beaumont-de-Lomagne mid-month. Well-placed behind the car but appears to be biting off too much
  59. KINGSLAYER PELLINI – 4th of 14 in a 2550m Reims Class E on 21 June. Comes here fresh and makes his Enghien debut with a lot to offer
  60. NATURAL MINE – Speedy sort that ran 5th of 17 in a 2450m Caen monte Class D mid-June. Starts in front and even though new to the venue still looks capable of making first 5
  61. JEU COQUIN – Failed to confirm Chartres performance when 7th of 18 in a 2825m Sable-sur-Sarthe Class F a month back and will need to raise his game
  62. BOMBER MAN – Has not raced since being eliminated in a 2300m Marseille-Borely Class E in early-May. Front shoes on this time and others preferred
  63. JUNON DE LOU – 3rd of 10 when preparing for this in a 2875m amateurs Class G here 3 weeks ago. Has pulled a tough number but must still be considered a place candidate
  64. RUSTICO – 6th of 12, on French debut, in a 3025m Lucon Class F 10 days ago and has a lot more to find
  65. DECLAN – Disappointing here last month before being eliminated in a 2675m monte Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel 2 weeks ago and can be passed over
  66. HASHTAG SIMONI – Decent 4th of 10 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D late last month. Consistently does everything asked of him and will be dangerous if he takes to the new profile
  67. JUNGLE GREEN – 2nd in an amateur event here before coming 4th of 15 in a 3100m Chinon Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Handed an unfavourable number but still has the wherewithal to get in on the action
    Summary: Authoritative winner under these conditions on his first sortie south of Scandinavia, GLOBAL CONCEPT (3) takes on a marginally better lot this time but is ideally-positioned on the front row and can confirm. KINGSLAYER PELLINI (5) may have taken time to come to hand but he has been hard to knock lately and will be no pushover. HASHTAG SIMONI (12) has yet to get his nose in front this year but comes to Enghien in excellent shape and will be expected to fill one of the steps on the podium. Very much at home at Enghien, JUNON DE LOU (9) has 2 runs under her belt and will be competitively-shod this time.

  68. L’ENVIE D’HERFRAIE – 2nd of 11 in a Class D over track and trip on 2 July. Is clearly close to winning another and enjoys another ideal opportunity. Claim
  69. LADY POP – Last of 9 on comeback in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Will have progressed for the race and from the 2-spot can make a big impact
  70. LOTTA LOVE – 7th of 10 in a 2925m Cagnes Class B 3 weeks ago. Is arguably better racing right-handed but sports modified shoeing and the draw will only work in her favour
  71. LAGUNE – Unraced since coming 5th of 12 in a 2150m Vichy Class C on 20 May. Has raced and placed in better company though and must be respected
  72. LAUREN DE BEYLEV – Imposed at Cabourg on 1 July but failed to repeat 3 weeks later in a 2725m Class D at the same venue. Won under these conditions last season but is being aimed too high this time
  73. LINOTTE DU MOUCHEL – Showed marked improvement when 4th of 13 in a 2725m Cabourg Class D on 22 July. Goes well over shorter and in present shape is easy to like for a place in the frame
  74. LA STAR – Returns to preferred trip after coming 5th of 9 in a 2875m Class D here 2.5 weeks ago. Starts relatively wide but in this small field is unlikely to meet too much opposition. Chance
  75. L’ALASKA SNOW – In the frame in last 2, most recently 2nd of 15 in a 2575m Agen Class D on 21 June. Has placed just once in 7 left-handed starts however and others easier to back
  76. LAURENE DE BAILLY – Put in a good finish to come 4th of 13 in a Class D over course and distance a week ago. Is plainly in decent shape but may just be taking on too much
  77. LEA D’ATOUT – 7th of 9 finishers, on comeback, in a 2725m Pornichet Class D 11 days ago. Shoes fitted once more and cannot be considered a priority
    Summary: Even though forced to break on the inside, L’ENVIE D’HERFRAIE (1) has been knocking at the door recently and is easy to like for the win. David Thomain will still be mindful of the widely-drawn LA STAR (7) who has yet to disappoint under these conditions, and LADY POP (2) who is barefoot for the first time this summer. LINOTTE DU MOUCHEL (6) is back on the right road and will appreciate returning to a shorter trip.

  78. ISIS D’HERFRAIE – Last but one when preparing for this in a 2850m Carentan Class E on 19 July. Thrives in the day’s configuration and a repeat of last month’s performance would see her finish in the mix
  79. GALANT DE BRUYERE – Last of 15 on re-entry in a 2850m Carentan Class E on 19 July. Remains shod and will have nothing to contribute
  80. IT’S MY DREAM – Back to France after finishing 11th of 16 over 2400m in Ostend 9 days ago. Would be preferred under the saddle however
  81. HIMBERLAND – Got off the mark for 2025 3 weeks ago when easily winning a 2775m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne. Pitted against better this time but can still challenge for a place in the frame
  82. HAUTBRION COLMI – Returns to racing left-handed after being eliminated in a 2800m Vire Class D on 25 June. Has previously won over course and distance but is never far from faulting
  83. IQUEM D’AMER – Fine servant making Enghien debut after finishing last of 15 behind HONEY KING (8) in a 2750m Cabourg Class B conditioner on 18 July. Shod to preference this time and will have his supporters
  84. HALMA D’AMER – Quality mare making first appearance since being eliminated in a 2900m Amiens Gr.3 in early-March. Shoes on however and best to hold off
  85. HONEY KING – 7th of 15 in a 2750m Cabourg Class B on 18 July, but left a good impression nevertheless. Hind shoes fitted this time but can still expect to garner support
  86. GILBERTO – Convincing winner of a 2800m Langon Class D a fortnight ago. Unlikely to repeat but is easy to like for a spot in first 5
  87. HOBBES – Tricky sort that finished 11th of 15 behind HONEY KING (8) in a 2750m Cabourg Class B on 18 July. Is never easy to gauge but with stride in check could pleasantly surprise
  88. INTOUCHABLE – Made a good return to competition earlier in the month when 2nd of 14 in a 3000m Chateaubriant Class D on 7 July. Will have come on for the run and will be expected to figure prominently at the business end of the race
  89. FOREVER JIEL – Was unsupported when eliminated in a 2750m Cabourg monte Class A 12 days ago, and current numbers do little to inspire confidence
  90. IN RED – Runner-up in last 2, latterly a 2150m Class C here late last month. Is clearly close to his race and may yet prove the one to beat
  91. HURRICANE CARTER – Set personal best time when 4th of 16 in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 22 June. Is as honest as they come and will be even more competitive with his shoes off. Claim
    Summary: Wonderfully-engaged at the limit of earnings, HURRICANE CARTER (14) has climbed the category-ladder in fine fashion this year and, barefoot for the first time has a realistic chance of maintaining his unblemished Enghien record. That said, IN RED (13) simply excels at Enghien in the day’s configuration and will be competitive for the win. Group-placed in the other code, INTOUCHABLE (11) made a fine comeback at Chateaubriant and, barefoot this time, is unlikely to let the side down. Back in business after an unexceptional spring, Alexandre Abrivard stays faithful to HIMBERLAND (4) who is plainly back at his best. Shod to preference, ISIS D’HERFRAIE (1) has a lot going for her and will be no easy touch.

  92. DIVA DEL RONCO – Eliminated in a 2550m Reims Class E on 21 June. Has done nothing of note for some time and is not about to start now
  93. CANTO DEI VENTI – Ran 3rd over shorter here before coming 5th of 16 to JUST A MIDI (3) in a 2750m Cabourg Class B on 18 July.
  94. JUST A MIDI – Returned to winning ways on 18 July when clinching a 2750m Cabourg Class B. Reliability not his strong suit but won his last 2 here and will be no soft touch
  95. HABIT DE SOIREE – In the frame in last 2, most recently 3rd of 12 in a Class B over course and distance a week ago, and has every chance of repeating
  96. GORDON MIJACK – Sprang a 114/1 surprise when securing a 2150m Enghien Class C 3 weeks ago. Shod as he was that day and David Thomain will be expecting another big run
  97. HANNAH – Has not been seen out since finishing last of 11 in a monte Class B over course and distance last March and will have nothing to contribute
  98. JINGLE DU PONT – Good 2nd of 11 in a 3100m Royan Class A 10 days ago. Has been very hard to criticise this year and should be able to wrap this up
  99. JE M’ENVOLE – Has 3 runs under his belt since the break, latterly 12th of 13 in a 2625m Class B at La Rochelle on 13 July. Tends to go well for Eric Raffin but still no more than a minor place prospect
    Summary: As solid as a rock lately, and already a Gr.3 winner this summer, JINGLE DU PONT (7) is in with a realistic shout of making his Enghien bow a winning one. Nicolas Bazire will still be keeping a keen eye on the hardy JUST A MIDI (3) who tenaciously secured a tough Cabourg Class B recently, and the Enghien-loving HABIT DE SOIREE (4) whose last 2 runs have been most encouraging. Surprise winner here 3 weeks ago, when sporting a new formula, GORDON MIJACK (5) must be taken more seriously this time around.

C1 – PRIX AQUIS CALIDIS – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Maiden Race – Flat – EUR € 15,600

  1. FATHOM FIVE – Finished 8th in a Maiden over 1800m at Marseille Borely on 18 June. Will need to improve on his two runs to date
  2. DADDY’S HEART – Ran 7th in a race over 1600m in Hamburg, Germany, on 6 July. He ran against some decent opposition in Germany and deserves respect
  3. KALAHANI – Ran 2nd in a Conditions race over 1800m at Dieppe on 7 July. That was a promising debut performance and he will try to go one better this time
  4. PAPILLE D’ARGENT – Finished 4th in Maiden over 2500m at Aix Les Bains on 5 July. That was a good effort and the drop in distance could suit him
  5. SILAWAY – Ran 3rd in a Listed race over 2100m at Dusseldorf, Germany, on 21 June. She has been ultra-consistent and should contest the finish once again
  6. TWIN DOVER – Finished 7th in a Handicap over this course and distance on 16 June. She looks unlikely to win but her experience could help her to place
  7. JURMALA – Ran 7th in a Handicap over 2200m at Dieppe on 7 July. She finished 2nd in her penultimate start and if she can build on that performance she will be right there

    Summary: JAVA FAST (14) is very consistent and is knocking hard at the door. She has a good record with this shoeing and can score. JULIAN DARK (13) has won twice in his last three starts, including over this course and distance, and is sure to be a threat once again. JANARDAL CLUB (12) is not reliable but does have a winning chance. INKERMAN DE PLAY (9) has been at the top of his game of late and is also not out of it.

KATINKA COTON (1) is at her best when barefoot, so her recent runs are best ignored. KILLEM (4) has shown marked improvement this year, is barefoot, and is a lively danger. KASANE DU BISET (3) is not reliable but is another possible winner.

    Summary: A competitive lucky last race. J’ADORE D’ISQUES (12) clearly needed his only start of the year. He will strip fitter and could be a threat in a race of this nature. IBRA DU THENNEY (8) is very consistent and could be rewarded with a win sometime soon. JOESTAR DES NOES (5) is best when barefoot but is also capable of contesting the finish. HONNEUR D’OCQUE (3) can go one better after a good recent run over this course and distance.
