Ready to put talents On Display

Connections of On Display would like to right the wrong of 12 months ago when they chase a Stakes race victory in Adelaide.
On Display is being targeted at the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville on April 25, a race the now four-year-old finished fourth in last year before going on to claim the Listed Morphettville Guineas (1600m) a week later.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent-trained mare has options tomorrow having been accepted for both the Listed Anniversary Vase (1600m) at Caulfield and the Listed City Of Adelaide Handicap (1529m) at Morphettville.
Planning for the Queen Of The South Stakes has centred around the Anniversary Vase in which the mare has drawn barrier three with Thomas Stockdale engaged to ride.
Price and Kent Jnr have also accepted with Golden Path and Taken in the Anniversary Vase, but Kent Jnr saying On Display was probably the best hope of the trio.
“She’s the high quality one of ours in the race,” Kent Jnr said.
“She is going well. She found the leader biased track at Flemington difficult to overcome and last time behind Treasurethe Moment, I haven’t seen a race where they have gone that slowly for a long time.
“The sectionals meant she had no chance, but she zipped home as good as anything in the race and she’ll run well.”
On Display will be third-up tomorrow, having finished third to Scheelite in the Shaftesbury Avenue Stakes at Flemington on March 7 before finishing fifth behind Treasurethe Moment in the Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield on March 21.
Taken gets in with the lightest weight of the Price and Kent Jnr-trained trio but must overcome the widest draw in the 14-horse field.
Kent Jnr was rapt with Taken’s last start second on the soft track at Flemington.
“I thought he was excellent and he should be a good chance down in the weights, despite the draw,” Kent Jnr said.
Golden Path is being aimed towards a Queensland campaign and Kent Jnr expects he will need another start after finishing sixth in the same race as Taken at Flemington when resuming.
“He’s heading to Queensland and I think he needs another warm up run before he strikes form,” Kent Jnr said.
