Fine Form
Beauty Box WD – 2.23
appears a good looking proposition at Windsor on a Bank Holiday bonanza of racing.
James Tate’s youngster was keeping on at the end of her five-furlong debut at Newmarket, a performance that suggests the move up to six will be perfect in the BetWright Windsor Flat Season Opener Fillies’ Novice Stakes.
Only two and a half lengths behind a Royal Ascot-bound winner and amongst some well-regarded rivals that day, the daughter of Space Blues could develop into a useful operator granted further experience and now stretching out in distance.
Over a couple of furlongs extra, it could also be worth following
Windbreaker WD – 2.58
in the Cameron Smart Memorial Novice Stakes after two encouraging performances at the start of his career.
A not disgraced fifth to Charlie Appleby’s 2000 Guineas runner King’s Trail on debut, he again bumped into a useful operator when third to the Epsom Blue Riband Trial winner Saxon Street at Chelmsford on his second start.
Trainer William Haggas won this event with the highly touted Scoville 12 months ago and although stable jockey Tom Marquand has chosen to ride an unraced stablemate, Windbreaker brings valuable outings from the racecourse to the table and can’t be overlooked easily.
While the aforementioned pair are only at the beginning of their respective careers,
Copper Knight BE – 4.15
is well into the twilight zone.
However, he is still proving as good as ever at the ripe age of 12 and there is every chance Tim Easterby’s sprinting stalwart goes one better than his comeback second in Beverley’s New Whistlejackets Guinness Bar Handicap,
Yellow Diamonds BE – 3.40
is another backed to sparkle on the Westwood as she looks to give Julie Camacho her third straight victory in the We Love A Bank Holiday Handicap on stable bow for the Star Cottage handler.
Having threatened to win throughout her juvenile season, the daughter of Invincible Spirit finally got off the mark in her final outing at Musselburgh before heading up to Malton after changing hands for 25,000 guineas in the interim.
She remains feasibly treated and could have plenty in the locker for a shrewd operation who thrive with this type of recruit to their team.
Cool Molly BE – 5.25
has been in rude health on the all-weather this winter, winning four times and finishing in the top three in nine of her 11 outings during the colder months.
That sort of consistency could earn her further success on turf if the switch proves no hinderance and the Brian Dixon Memorial Handicap could be the ideal place for Ollie Sangster’s daughter of Cotai Glory to start.
Donna Rumma BE – 3.05
caught the eye here on debut before just being touched off at Musselburgh and could make it third time lucky in the Mayday Fillies’ Novice Stakes.
At Bath,
Regal Envoy BT – 2.50
one to keep onside in the Blackmore Building Contractors Handicap following an encouraging comeback third at Newmarket last month, with this five-furlong heat looking a touch easier and with a helping hand from the assessor who has dropped the seven-year-old a pound.
It was of note that William Knight’s charge actually finished first of the group that raced on the stands’ side on the Rowley Mile, having also done plenty of the leg work a the head of the trailer.
