R1 ENGHIEN [L-H] |
C1 – PRIX DE LA CELLE-SAINT-CLOUD – 2875m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 41,000 |
1. JONQUILLE D’AIMTE – Improving all the while, latterly successful in a 2775m Class F at Les Sables d’Olonne 10 days ago. Gabi Gelormini reining this time and will be no soft touch
2. JILIKA DU MESLE – Maintained her decent form when 5th of 10 in an 1800m Class E at La Capelle 3 weeks ago. Should take well to Enghien profile and prove a decent place prospect
3. JURELLA DE PALM – Raced well to finish 6th of 12 finishers in a 2675m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel late-June. Sports modified shoeing and should be good enough to challenge for victory this time
4. DONNER AMOUR – 9th of 13 finishers, on comeback, in a 2100m Vincennes Class C a month ago. Is reunited with JMB for her Enghien debut and can be assured a competitive drive. Place chance
5. JACINTHE DE DAIDOU – Returned to winning ways 2 weeks ago in a 2475m Francheville Class F, but will struggle to repeat
6. JAVA DES CAILLONS – Good, consistent mare that made short work of a 2050m Cabourg Class F on 2 July and looks thoroughly capable of pulling off the double
7. MISS JAJA – Starts for the first time since coming last of 9 in a 2100m Vincennes Class E mid-May. Shoes off for comeback but others still preferred
8. JAMINISTAR – Disappointing on the whole this term, most recently last but one in a 2100m Pornichet Class E 9 days ago. Receives an Eric Raffin drive for the occasion but still not an obvious choice
9. JOHANA DU GUESCLIN – Showed improvement when 4th of 9 finishers in a 2150m Argentan Class E mid-month, but with shoes back on will have less to contribute
10. JALNA DU PALAIS – Races barefoot for the occasion after faulting in a 2150m Biarritz monté Class F 11 days ago. Is better in the other code and can be passed over
Summary: Consistently in the thick of things when focused, JAVA DES CAILLONS (6) flew up at Cabourg last time out and can double her money if she takes to the new conditions. David Thomain will still be wary of the Enghien-loving JURELLA DE PALM (3) who is competitively-shod for the first time, and JILIKA DU MESLE (2) who has been knocking at the door over recent months. Solid in Paris over the winter, DONNER AMOUR (4) has one race in her and with JMB reining must be respected.

C2 – PRIX DU ROULE – 2875m (a2m) – Class A Race – Harness – EUR € 62,000 |
1. LAGNU MAG – Went close at Vichy late-June before faulting in a 2750m Cabourg Class C a fortnight ago. Has evident talent but recent efforts will not cut the mustard at this level
2. LILI DRY – Unraced since coming 6th of 11 in a 2700m Vincennes Class A on 21 May. Has other priorities and not an obvious choice
3. L’AS DESBOIS – Complicated but talented colt that ran 2nd of 9 in a 2150m Class C here 2 weeks ago. Moves up in category but is a progressive type and will be expected to figure prominently
4. LADY QUEEN – Got off the mark with a superb Class C performance over course and distance on 3 July. Has never failed to fire at Enghien and with Mathieu Mottier in the wagon, will be no shrinking violet
5. LIBERTINE DJOB – Has not been seen out since finishing last but one in a 2450m Caen monté Gr.2 early-May. Disregard
6. LAKARA – Progressive filly starting for the first time since coming 4th of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.2 6 months ago. Shoes on and no threat this time
7. LAPIS LAZULI – Useful sort making first appearance since finishing 6th of 7 in a 2100m Gr.3 across town in early-February. Shoes on again and best to wait
8. LUSH LIFE – Serious filly but sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2700m Vincennes Gr.3 on 7 June. Just hind pads fitted this time and, even with application, looks no more than a minor place prospect
9. LOVE LETTER – Failed to live up to expectations when last but one in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.3 early-June. Has considerable ability, is Group-class material, and even racing shod looks a major player
10. LIPANGA DE GUEZ – Unluckily sanctioned when denied a run in a 2150m Gr.3 here 3 weeks ago. Showed her form though and, with application, can play a small part
11. LIGHT MY FIRE – Quality individual whose last of 7 in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.3 early-June should not be taken at face value. Won his only start at the venue and is not incapable of returning home with his Enghien record intact
12. LIZY JOSSELYN – Tricky filly that trailed in last of 8 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.3 early last month and is not about to buck the trend
13. LE JIBAY – Back under harness after finishing last of 7 in a 2700m Vincennes monté Gr.1 on 23 June. Front pads fitted, with Yoann Lebourgeois at the helm this time, and is the sort that could pleasantly surprise. Attention
14. LOGAN JIEL – 5th of 11 finishers in a 2150m Gr.3 here 3 weeks ago. Drops marginally in category and Franck Ouvrie will be loathe to pass up such a good opportunity
Summary: Oddly below-par in a Vincennes Gr.3 after having imposed with ease on his penultimate start, Franck Nivard stays faithful to LIGHT MY FIRE (11) who looks a marginally better bet than the well-engaged LOGAN JIEL (14) who pleasantly surprised in the Gr.3 Prix de Rome here earlier in the month. LOVE LETTER (9) is significantly better than her recent performance would imply, races shod this time, and Julien Dubois will be out to set the record straight. L’AS DESBOIS (3) consistently gives what he can and deserves to take his chances at this level.

C3 – PRIX DE CHARONNE – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000 |
1. KAVANI – 11th of 14 in a 2150m Class D here on 6 July. Has 2 races under his belt but takes on a tough bunch here and even with hind shoes off, is unlikely to spring a surprise
2. KATSUKI – 5th of 14, at 50/1, in a 2150m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Did catch the eye that day though and, competitively-shod from the 2-spot, is not to be ignored
3. KEN ZAO DE NAPPES – Useful, but complicated, colt that lost his action after just a few-hundred metres into a 2650m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne 2 weeks ago. Has obvious ability, enjoys a good place behind the car, and will have his supporters
4. KAMIL VAN HALBEEK – Promising future prospect that came 10th, behind KATSUKI (2), on re-entry in a 2150m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Will have come on for the run, is reunited with Yoann Lebourgeois, and looks a player
5. KRONOS D’ERPION – 7th of 10, when preparing for this, in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class D last weekend. Takes a notable step up in category though and, in this field, will have his work cut out
6. KABIR BEDI – Failed to pull off the hat-trick when sanctioned early in a 2650m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne a fortnight ago. JMB reining this time and must be taken seriously
7. KEOPS BEGONIA – Makes Enghien, and left-handed, debut after securing the hat-trick in a 2725m Cabourg Class E on 9 July. Should take well to the Enghien profile and can win this if he turns
8. KEEN ON ME – Not once out of first 2 when applied, latterly runner-up to KISS YOU PIYA (13) in a 2750m Cabourg Class E on 9 July. Starts wide in front but may just have the advantage this time around. Claim
9. KENNEDY FRANCE – 4th of 11 finishers in a 2850m Carentan Class E a fortnight ago. Placed here 2 months ago but has a lot more to find
10. KHEOPS BOURBON – Clearly in form but briefly faulted, coming 9th of 14, in 6 July Enghien race of reference. Gets on well with Mathieu Mottier and, despite the draw, can put things right
11. KAPLA DEVOL – Could have finished closer than 6th in Les Sables-d’Olonne race of reference had he been afforded a run. Goes barefoot, with Franck Nivard in the sulky this time, but others still easier to back
12. KASH PRIDE – Imposed at Mauquenchy early-June before coming 2nd of 10 in a 2750m Class D at La Capelle 12 days later. Unlikely to cause an upset but should still acquit himself honourably
13. KISS YOU PIYA – Won a 2750m Cabourg Class E on 9 July. Is obviously in with a shout of repeating but Alexandre Abrivard will first need to successfully negotiate the start
14. KILIMANDJARO – Showed his form despite losing his action in a 2050m Cabourg Class D on 2 July. Has yet to show any particular liking for Enghien however and can be passed over
15. KERU DE LOU – Improving type that ran a good 2nd of 9 in a Class E over 2150m here on 10 July. Has been handed a shocking draw but can finish close if Anthony Dillion positions him early
16. KRYSTAL DU RUEL – Has not been seen out since faulting in a 2100m Vincennes Class D last December and will need the race
Summary: Very hard to knock when focused, KEEN ON ME (8) ran second to KISS YOU PIYA (13) at Cabourg earlier in the month but starts in front and looks a better bet this time. David Thomain may be less concerned about Alexandre Abrivard’s charge than KEOPS BEGONIA (7) who sports a new configuration in a bid to make it 4 on the trot. KERU DE LOU (15) is close to his best and must also be considered a live chance.

C4 – PRIX JEAN-LUC LAGARDERE – 2875m (a2m) – Gr2 Race – Harness – EUR € 150,000 |
1. JUSTIN BOLD – Quality trotter who has impressed since the layoff, most recently 4th of 8 in a 2950m Vichy Gr.2 on 2 July. Just front pads fitted this time and best to hold off
2. HARLEM DE BUCY – 4th to GASPAR D’ANGIS (7) in a Gr.3 over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Plainly in form but nevertheless needs to take his game up a level
3. GALILEO BELLO – Scored a 2nd straight when victorious in a 2925m Cagnes Class A on 8 July. In better company this time and although unlikely to pull off the hat-trick should nevertheless acquit himself honourably
4. FAKIR DE MAHEY – Raced better in a 2850m Vincennes Gr.3, behind GASPAR D’ANGIS (7), late-June than the result would suggest, but still has more to find
5. GAMAY DE L’ITON – Has looked ordinary lately, most recently 6th in Prix de Washington. Is clearly on the way back up though and, with hind shoes back on, is eminently capable of making first 5
6. FULTON – Won a monté Gr.3 over course and distance on 10 July. Has other priorities and can be ruled out
7. GASPAR D’ANGIS – Fine winner of a Gr.3 over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Has won 2 of 3 here and Eric Raffin will be out to apply the pressure on AMPIA MEDE SM (13)
8. GANAY DE BANVILLE – Admirable 5th of 12 in 2100m Gr.1 Prix René Ballière over 2100m at Vincennes on 23 June. Will appreciate the drop in class and looks more a place chance this time around
9. JUSHUA TREE – High-class trotter making first appearance since faulting in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.2 last February. Shoes on for the occasion but still has the class to finish in the mix
10. INMAROSA – Unplaced in 2 since her short spring spell, most recently last of 7 in Prix de Washington. 4th in Gr.1 Prix de l’Atlantique before being rested and if close to race-fitness, will be no easy touch
11. ELVIS DU VALLON – Consistently gives his best, most recently a flattering 4th, a place behind AMPIA MEDE SM (13), in Prix de Washington mid-month. Can get a look-in but others still easier to support
12. JUST A GIGOLO – 5th behind AMPIA MEDE SM (13) in Gr.2 Prix de Washington over a mile here 2 weeks ago. Has little room for manoeuvre against his elders though and not an obvious choice this time around
13. AMPIA MEDE SM – 3rd of 7 finishers in Gr.2 Prix de Washington over a mile here a fortnight ago. Unshod-all-4 this time and can expect the lion’s share of support
Summary: Good 3rd in the Gr.2 Prix de Washington here on her first start since the winter, AMPIA MEDE SM (13) boasts excellent credentials around this distance and, barefoot this time, will take all the beating. She will be opposed by GASPAR D’ANGIS (7) who was most impressive here earlier in the month, and his frequent nemesis GANAY DE BANVILLE (8) who returns to a track he favours. INMAROSA (10) has 2 races under her belt, has references in superior company, and her good turn of foot could should serve her well.

C5 – PRIX DE LA PLACE D’ITALIE – 2875m (a2m) – Class C Race – Mounted – EUR € 68,000 |
1. IT’S MY DREAM – Fine servant under the saddle, most recently 2nd of 10 in a Class E over track and trip 10 days ago. Won his previous 2 starts, including at Enghien, and although in better company, still looks competitively well-in
2. GIUSEPPE – Never at his ease before being sanctioned in a 2850m Vincennes Class C on 21 June. 4th to EXTREME DESBOIS (12) here earlier in the season but will not be easy to trust
3. IBERIK DE MONGOCHY – Lost his action in a 2750m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Springs the occasional surprise but is new to the venue and unlikely to shake things up
4. GAVROCHE BEST – Sanctioned at Laval before finishing 11th in race of reference and is unlikely to make his presence felt
5. GEGE DE FROMENTEL – Simply superb in this branch of the business, most recently imposing over track and trip before trotting 3rd of 15 in a 2800m Langon harness Class D 9 days ago. Hind shoes off and, if still on the boil, can finish in the mix
6. GADGET DU GADE – Won over Vincennes short course on 21 June before finishing last but one in a 2700m Gr.3 at the same venue a week later. Drops back in category but others still preferred
7. FALCON D’ESPACE – 4th in race of reference before coming 3rd of 10 finishers in a 2950m Vichy Class D on 4 July. Cannot be considered a priority but hind shoes off and can pick up some crumbs
8. FLUO MESLOIS – 3rd to EXTREME DESBOIS (12) here mid-June before coming 9th of 15 in a 2800m harness Class A at Sablé-sur-Sarthe 2 weeks later. Reunited with Eric Raffin and is not to be underestimated
9. IBISCUS MAN – Back under the saddle after coming 6th of 13 in a 2875m Argentan harness Class D mid-month. Sanctioned in 7 of 8 in the discipline but is plainly in form and must be worth retaining
10. DICK DES MALBERAUX – Drops in category after trotting 7th of 11 in a Gr.3 under these conditions 3 weeks ago but, even so, still looks to be out of his depth
11. HAVE SEVEN – Facile winner of a 2750m Cabourg harness Class B 8 days ago. Is no slouch under the saddle and can give HALFA (13) a run for her money
12. EXTREME DESBOIS – Won over course and distance last month before finishing 8th of 11 in a 3100m Royan harness Class A a fortnight back. Barefoot this time and looks a serious proposition
13. HALFA – 13th of 15, on first start since the spell, in a 2150m harness Class C here 3 weeks ago. Will have progressed since and, shod or not, still looks the horse to beat
14. EPSON D’ARIANE – Made it 3 straight sanctions when faulting in a 2150m harness Class C here 3 weeks ago, and can expect to remain friendless
15. EMENCOURT D’AZIF – Returns to the monté code after coming 5th of 15 in a harness claimer over course and distance a month ago. Has references at a superior level but would be preferred barefoot
Summary: Runner-up to In Love du Choquel when shod here in March, HALFA (13) has had a much-needed freshener and has a realistic chance of winning this. She will however still encounter resistance from the unshod-behind HAVE SEVEN (11) who returns to the code after imposing well under harness recently, and a barefoot EXTREME DESBOIS (12) who has nothing to prove under these conditions. FLUO MESLOIS (8) finished 3rd to him here last month and is not going to be far off the mark.

C6 – PRIX DE L’HAY-LES-ROSES – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 46,000 |
1. JOYEUX MESLOIS – Has done nothing but improve since the spell, most recently 3rd of 9 finishers in an 1800m Class D at La Capelle 3 weeks ago. Steps up in category though and is unlikely to shake things up
2. JOPH DE VANDEL – Ran 4th at Angers before faulting, when full of running, in a 2800m Vichy Class C on 26 June. Has the 2-spot but in this company, will have his work cut out
3. JASPER PIYA – Drops in category after coming 8th of 14 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class C a month ago. Handed an excellent draw and will be competitive for a first-5 payday
4. DRAGOWSKI – Denied a run, finishing 10th of 14, in a 2100m Vincennes Class C late last month. Benjamin Rochard reining this time and, from the 4-spot, can play a prominent role
5. JOLIVERT DU GERS – Respectable 7th of 9 when being conditioned in a 2475m Royan Class E a fortnight ago. Is confirmed here, goes barefoot for the occasion, and can get straight down to business
6. JOURNEE REVEE – 2nd of 9 finishers in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 8 days ago. Shoes on this time though and best to hold off
7. JAMES MADRIK – Sanctioned in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on just 2nd start back. Has never let the side down at Enghien and, shod to preference, looks the pick of the field
8. JOPLIN DES CROUAS – Won 3 of last 4, including over track and trip, most recently imposing with authority in a 2200m Le Mans Class D 11 days ago. Has good speed and the wherewithal to secure the hat-trick
9. DADA DEL RONCO – 5th of 15 in a 2150m Class C here on 10 July. Starts on back line again but a repeat seems improbable
10. HUGO TROJBORG – Sanctioned in all 3 French starts, latterly a 2850m Vincennes Class D on 21 June, and must get his house in order
11. DIE HARD (ITY) – Yet to open his French account, most recently unlucky 5th to DE GAULLE GRIF (14) in a 2850m Vincennes Class D on 21 June. Not a priority but can still play a role if Eric Raffin keeps him out of trouble
12. DAYTONA DI CECCO – Showed improvement when 6th, a place behind DADA DEL RONCO (9), in a Class C over course and distance on 10 July. On the back line and will have too much to do
13. DEXTER ORS – Encouraging 8th of 13 in a Class C over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Won under these conditions earlier in the year and, with Franck Nivard reining, will be afforded every chance
14. DE GAULLE GRIF – Won 2 of last 4, most recently a 2850m Vincennes Class D with ease. Has thrived since moving yards and, despite the draw, can make a big splash
15. JEMISSORA – Last of 8, on re-entry, in a 2875m Class D here 2 weeks ago. Handed a tough draw and can be ruled out
Summary: Yet to make his mark in 2 conditioners since moving to Mathieu Mottier’s yard, JAMES MADRIK (7) reverts to a previous configuration for his first objective of the season and, with application, can win this. Starting just to his outside, JOPLIN DES CROUAS (8) has found his way again and, if applied, can pull off the hat-trick. As consistent as they come when unshod, JOLIVERT DU GERS (5) has 2 runs in him, is barefoot for the occasion and, from the 5-spot, will have his chances. DE GAULLE GRIF (14) has been less-favoured by the draw gods but is at the top of his game and, back to a previous formula, will be no pushover.

C7 – PRIX DU PALAIS ROYAL – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 43,000 |
1. IROMEE – Lost her action in a 2850m Laval Class D a month back. Has had time to get her house in order and, with application, is unlikely to disappoint
2. ISLAND STAR – Disappointed at Pontchâteau before faulting in a 3450m Class F at Agon-Coutainville earlier this month. Need to reassure but the Eric Raffin-factor must be taken into account
3. I FEEL PRETTY – Solid as a rock over past 4 months, most recently 2nd of 10 in a Class D over course and distance on 10 July, and will not be far from the action
4. IDYLLE DE MAHEY – Not the easiest to handle but showed her form after being sanctioned in a 2950m Le Mans Class E 11 days ago and will be dangerous if she can keep her mind on the game
5. GONNABE SHADOW – Quality mare that was beaten only by a very good horse in a 2875m Class D here mid-June. Comes here fresh, is well-placed behind the car, and can bring home the bacon
6. HELIA DE LAXA – Imposed at Chartres before trotting 3rd of 14 in a 2700m Class F at La Capelle on 9 July. Starts in front and can again make the frame
7. HATTUSA – Has not been seen out since faulting in a 2300m Marseille-Borély Class E early-May. Barefoot for re-entry but expected to need the run
8. ODANA VRIJTHOUT – 4th over 2300m at Ostend on return to competition mid-month. Is no slouch when barefoot and focused, but still no more than a minor place chance
9. IZZIE D’ERONVILLE – Has done nothing of note since winning at La Capelle 12 months ago. Sanctioned in last 5, latterly a 2675m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel 9 days ago, and can be passed over
10. CAROLYN FRANCIS – Unplaced in all 3 starts this year, latterly 7th of 12 in a 2650m Pornichet Class E earlier this month, and will need to raise her game
11. CETIZ – Last of 12, on French debut, in a 2650m Pornichet Class E on 11 July and already looks out of her league
Summary: Clearly close to her race and solid 2nd over longer here last month, GONNABE SHADOW (5) is nicely-placed on the front line and, with form maintained, should have the measure of the tricky but immensely capable, and barefoot, IDYLLE DE MAHEY (4) who will be a tough nut to crack if Benjamin Rochard can keep her trotting. Very hard to fault over past 2.5 months, HELIA DE LAXA (6) debuts at the venue with a good hand to play. The regular IROMEE (1) should not be too hastily-judged for her recent performance and Mathieu Mottier will be expected to put things right.

1. FISTON A PAPA – 10th of 13 in a 2850m Bréhal Class E last Monday. Shod to preference this time but still looks outclassed
2. GAMIN DE MAHEY – Returned to winning ways on turf in a 3450m Agon-Coutainville Class E 2 weeks ago. Has a good spot in front and, although unlikely to repeat, can still make his presence felt
3. GERSHWIN DE CHENU – 5th of 12, behind GRANIT DU FRESNE (6), in a 2775m Lignières Class D a week ago. Raced better than the result would suggest and has a lot going for him here. Claim
4. FUTE BUROIS – 6th of 14 finishers in a Class D over course and distance late last month. Has been off the boil for some time and chances slim
5. GAI MATIN – Excellent in last 3 barefoot starts, latterly close 2nd in a 2950m Vichy Class D on 2 July. Has previously won here and in present shape is very easy to like
6. GRANIT DU FRESNE – 3rd of 12 in a 2775m Lignières Class D last weekend. Starts in front, with Franck Nivard at the helm this time, and looks a solid first-5 prospect
7. GAROU PIERJI – 7th of 14, when being conditioned, in a 2725m Pornichet Class D earlier in the month. Entrusted to a top driver this time and must be respected accordingly
8. FAVICI PASMARICK – Made it 2 victories in succession when winning a 2100m Vincennes Class E at 23/1 late-June. P-Y Verva reining this time and the 3-timer is well within his capacity
9. DONOVAN DARK – 4th of 6 over 2400m at Waregem a month ago. Hind shoes off but can still expect to find himself treading water
10. FLORALYSE D’AUTHOU – Encouraged at Chartres late-June before faulting in a 2800m Bernay Class A a week later. On the back line, reverting to an earlier configuration, and poses no danger
11. GOLDEN GRACE – Encouraging 6th of 13 finishers in a 2950m Le Mans Class E mid-month. David Thomain drafted in for the occasion and is not incapable of picking up a minor place cheque
12. GUCCI DE BARB – Beaten only by a very good horse here earlier in the month before trotting 4th in Lignières race of reference. Unlikely to get his nose in front but will be competitive for a slice of the pie
13. FAUCON DE L’ALBA – Pleasant 3rd of 13 in a Class D over course and distance 2 weeks ago. Steps up in category and others easier to support this time
14. GARANCIO BELLO – Sanctioned early in a 3100m Royan Class A 2 weeks ago. Eric Raffin reining for first time but still not easy to make a case
15. FIGARO GEMA – Pleased twice here over past month but sanctioned in a 3450m Agon-Coutainville Class E a fortnight ago and the draw only compounds matters
16. GALIE DE CELINIERE – 9th of 13 in a 2950m Le Mans Class E 11 days ago. Handed a dreadful draw and has no realistic chance
Summary: Unlucky to lose his action here last month, GERSHWIN DE CHENU (3) subsequently reassured at Lignières last weekend and barefoot, ideally-placed in front, and entrusted to Mathieu Mottier, can finally open his 2024 account. It’s not a done deal though even if the hat-trick-seeking FAVICI PASMARICK (8) is forced to break wide. Hard to knock when unshod, GAI MATIN (5) is well-positioned on the front line, while Alexandre Abrivard drives GAROU PIERJI (7) who has an appreciation for the Enghien profile.

2. KENO PETTEVINIERE – Pleasant 4th of 8, on return to competition, in a 2200m Vichy Class B mid-June. Has had time to recuperate, goes first time barefoot, and should not be ignored
3. KARAKA WOOD – Made up for her return sanction when winning a 2425m Jullianges Class E a fortnight ago. Goes first time barefoot and, while not a priority, should nevertheless hold her own
4. KATAR – Bested just once in 4 when padded all around, most recently trouncing the opposition in a Class C over course and distance on 3 July, and repeating is not out of the question
5. KILLER QUEEN – Reassured with victory at Vichy before coming 3rd of 9 in a 2650m Saint-Galmier Class B late-June. Pleased on her only Enghien appearance and must be worth retaining for a spot in first 5
6. KONFINEE – Drops back in class after running 11th of 14, on re-entry, in a 2150m Gr.3 here a week ago. Sports a new configuration, will be reined by Alexandre Abrivard, but others still preferred
7. KARMA QUICK – Classy colt that cruised to victory in a 2150m Class C here 2 weeks ago, on just 2nd start back, and a similar performance would see him double up
8. KAPORAL DES FORGES – Honest colt that bit off more than he could chew in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.2 early last month. Has freshness on his side and will be competitive for a place on the podium
9. KOKOTE – Difficult to knock when focused and unshod, as she showed when securing a 2150m Class C here on 10 July, and looks principal danger to KAPORAL DES FORGES (8)
Summary: A fine servant when he can keep his action together, KARMA QUICK (7) met no opposition over shorter here a fortnight ago and will take all the beating. The well-engaged KOKOTE (9) also won over 2150m here earlier in the month and will be no soft touch either. Twice a winner in 4 starts this year, KATAR (4) imposed over course and distance, with authority, last time and is similarly in with a shout. KAPORAL DES FORGES (8) drops back to a more reasonable level and can put his recent group-race blip behind him.

Summary: VERTICAL BLUE (5) has done very little wrong to date and looks ready to go one better. She will appreciate the extra yardage and rates the one to beat. REALITY CEN (8) ticks a lot of boxes and is likely to be ready to rock and roll on debut so any market support would be significant. OLYA (4) would have tightened up with that debut effort and could be prominent for the placings. CERVINIA (6) should find herself challenging for the back end of places.

Summary: PROSECUTOR (8) debuts for a powerful combination and should know his job on debut. He is the type that should be forward and this seems like a suitable starting point. PONDERADO (5) produced a solid effort on debut and gets weight off the back which makes a significant difference for a young horse. I GOT RHYTHM (7) makes his debut here and could be of interest should there be confidence behind him in the market. BELLAGIO (6) should have more to offer after his debut run.

11. COGNAC – Finished a close up 4th over 2100m at Saint-Cloud in a Class 3 divided limited handicap on the 21st of June 2024. Each way chance
Summary: In a very competitive looking field, PANJAMAN (4) could represent some value despite not being in the greatest form at presence, he has taken on tougher in the past and looks well placed off his current rating so could be a factor if things go his way in running. BARC (1) is seldom far off them and put up a pleasing run last time out so should go well on the basis off that effort. ROMANELLO (5) is a consistent performer who gets weight off the back and should be involved at the finish. COGNAC (11) ran an improved race at his latest outing and with a repeat performance, he could be in the shake up.

DAR TOUNGI (2) brings recent winner form to the table and will be a lively player for top honors. 1. HOKIO – Inconsistent, lightly raced performer with sound references/form credentials, especially without his irons. Only 12th (shod) at Cagnes over 2925m on 15 July but is likely to fare better here, even at this higher level
2. FANGIO DU GUESCLIN – Well-performed veteran who seldom finishes far off the mark. Didn’t go unnoticed when 5th over 2925m at Cagnes on 22 July
3. GEODE DU CHERISAY – Consistent veteran mare with sound references/form credentials, including a last-start 4th over 2925m at Cagnes on 22 July. Place chance
4. HERAKLION – Soundly beaten (13th) over 2650m at Hyeres when racing shod on 21 July but is most effective without her irons, so could do better racing unshod on this occasion. Attractive outisder
5. HOVA DE BASSIERE – Has made no impression in 5 starts this year, the latest (9th) over 2650m at Hyeres on 21 July. Best watched for now
6. HARRY LE BEAU – Confirmed under the conditions and ideally engaged at the start from the first post. Disqualified at Cagnes when last seen on 10 July but is more than capable of setting the record straight – the likely favourite
7. GOLO KANTE – Versatile veteran with sound references in both trotting disciplines, including a last-start win in a mounted race at Enghien over 2875m on 27 June. Most effective without unshod, so is best watched for now
8. FANFARONNEUR – Enigmatic sort who has been disqualified in 7 of his last 8 appearances, including his latest over 2925m at Cagnes on 15 July – but did win his only completed outing during that sequence. Question of wisdom
9. EOLIEN DE CHENU – Capable veteran who shouldn’t be hastily condemned for his recent faux pas (disqualification) over 2925m at Cagnes on 15 July. Won’t be far off the mark if avoiding disqualification – dark horse
10. ELIXIR WIND – Prolific veteran trotter with an impressive strike-rate (24 wins from 66 starts). Finished a well-beaten 13th at Vincennes on his reappearance (4 May) after a 7-month absence and would’ve come on since – respect
11. GAMBLE RIVER – Hold-up type with formidable acceleration. Most effective in this barefoot configuration and should have a role to play here after a pleasing last-start 6th (plated in front) over 2925m at Cagnes on 24 July – keep safe
12. FLEURON D’ACADIE – Veteran of 93 starts with 13 wins, including several at a higher level. Was disqualified in back-to-back recent outings, the latest (shod) at Cavaillon on 18 June, but has undeniable means – all or nothing
Summary: HARRY LE BEAU (6) let the side down when strongly fancied but disqualified at Cagnes a fortnight ago. He is, however, capable of redeeming himself and repaying his followers in what seems a winnable contest under conditions he has already proven himself to be effective. Well-performed ELIXIR WIND (10) would’ve blown away the cobwebs with his much-needed comeback outing in May and, if judged on his best form/references, is more than capable of fighting for victory. GAMBLE RIVER (11) and FLEURON D’ACADIE (12) are consistent sorts with solid credentials, especially when racing unshod, so can also stake a claim. HOKIO (1) completes the shortlist.

1. JET DES BAUX – Honest hard-knocker who seldom finishes far off the mark and should acquit himself competitively here over a distance to his liking. Didnt go unnoticed when finishing 7th on this track over 2925m on 15 July
2. JOCKSTRAP – Halted a run of 6 consecutive disqualifications with an eye-catching 2nd on this track over 2925m last time out (15 July). Not taken lightly
3. JALENDRA DE MALAC – Erratic performer with references when racing shod. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 7th over 1800m at La Capelle on 7 July
4. JAGUAR DU LOISIR – Seldom far off the mark but has been hard to win with – just 2 wins from 30 starts. Didnt go unnoticed when 6th over 2650m at Oraison on 30 June
5. JACK QUICK – Ended a long losing run with a last-start success (barefoot) over 2700m at this venue last time out (17 July). Confirmation expected
6. JARFALLA QUICK – Has found her niche racing unshod/barefoot and confirmed as much with a last-start victory over 2700m on 17 July. Another bold bid is expected
7. JOKER MADRIK – Finished a disappointing 9th on this track over 2925m on 15 July but is rarely far off the mark at this level. Shouldnt’ be written off, especially given the change in his shoe-fitting
8. JUJUBEE – Returned to form with an improved/encouraging last-start 3rd on her reappearance following a 3-month break over 2925m at this venue on 15 July. Awkwardly positioned at the start but should be a factor again
9. JOE TEJY – Unplaced/soundly beaten in all 4 starts this year, the latest (7th) over 2650m at Hyeres on 21 July. Others preferred
10. JASMINE WINNER – Unreliable trotter who isn’t devoid of ability but appears to have lost her way recently. Was soundly beaten (7th) over 2925m at this venue on 15 July
11. JYLVIE DE GUEUDE – Made an encouraging track debut on 17 July, when finishing 2nd over 2700m, and has already proven her efficiency over speed distances. Dark horse
12. JOLIE DE CORTEM – Inconsistent mare whose best references have been achieved in the claiming category. Confirmed in this shoe-fitting but unlikely to make an impression on the evidence of her last-start 8th over 2700m on 17 July
13. JOYCE BEGONIA – Erratic mare who is seldom far from a fault but didn’t go unnoticed when 8th in this shoe-fitting over track and trip on 15 July. Dark horse
14. JUST FOR YOU – Unreliable trotter but isn’t devoid of ability. Returned to form with a reassuring 3rd over 2700m on 17 July at this venue. Dark horse
15. JOKER DE L’EPINE – Has gone off the boil and races shod here after finishing a well-beaten 11th over 2700m on this track earlier in the month (17 July). Outsider
Summary: Romain Derieux has his stable firing on all cylinders. He sends out last-start winners JACK QUICK (5) and JARFALLA QUICK (6), who could find themselves fighting for victory. JUJUBEE (8) returned to form with an encouraging 3rd (shod) last time and will make life difficult for those rivals if building on that improvement with his hind shoes removed. JET DES BAUX (1), JOCKSTRAP (2) and JYLVIE DE GUEUDE (11) also have the means to get onto the podium.

2. KADO DE VANDEL – Won a 2850m claimer at Laon on 12 May but has found it tougher at a slightly lower level than this grade. Disqualified last time out over 2150m at this venue on 20 July – watch for now
3. KOOL DU CHATELET – Unreliable trotter who isn’t devoid of ability but appears to have lost his way recently – was soundly beaten in consecutive starts before his latest failure (disqualification) over 2150m at this venue on 20 July
4. KENAVO DU BOUILLON – Disqualified more often than not (14 times in 19 appearances) but did win both completed outings in this barefoot configuration, including his last start over this course and distance on 8 July. Question of wisdom
5. KARTING DE PLAY – Revealed considerable early promise, winning his first 3 starts – including his debut shod. Showed his form and well-being by finishing 2nd on this track over 2150m on 20 July
6. KARMA DE BERTRANGE – Ha regained momentum recently with 2 comeback outings and confirmed as much by finishing 4th at this venue over 2150m on 20 July. Not taken lightly
7. KINGDOM DU LIAMONE – Unplaced in all 10 starts this year, the latest (12th) over track and trip on 8 July, and isn’t likely to make any impression here either. Overlook

9. KALGARY – Delicate colt with undeniable ability – disqualified in 6 of his 11 appearances, winning 3 of his 5 completed outings (finished 3rd in the other 2 starts). shouldn’t be hastily condemned for his latest faux pas (sanction) at Hyeres on 29 May
10. KADOR DE SEVRE – Returned to form with an improved/eye-catching 2nd over 2150m at this venue on 13 July. Will be a factor if confirming that improvement
11. KHARTOUM DE LA FYE – Debut winner who has never finished worse than 2nd (four times) in his 8 starts – disqualified in 3 of them. Showed his form and well-being by finishing 2nd over 2750m at La Capelle on 10 May – exciting prospect
12. KADEO JOSSELYN – Inconsistent colt with references in this shoeing configuration at a higher level. Finished unplaced (10th) at this venue over 2150m on 13 July – place chance only
Summary: KHARTOUM DE LA FYE (11), barefoot for only the second time in his career, is ideally engaged at the limit of earnings and has a great opportunity to recapture the winning thread. He is seldom far from faulting but need only avoid disqualification to fight for victory – it’d be disappointing were he not to. KADOR DE SEVRE (10), who caught the eye when 2nd on his reappearance on this track over 2150m, and KALGARY (9), whose 3-start winning sequence was halted by a last-start disqualification, seem best equipped to pose a threat. KENAVO DU BOUILLON (4) and KARMA DE BERTRANGE (6) are others capable of getting involved.

1. KAISERINE – Last-start winner (in this barefoot configuration) of a 2700m Class F event at Cagnes on 17 July. Will find this tougher
2. KAICHA – Disqualified (shod) on her comeback from a 3-month absence and unplaced (11th) over 2150m at Cagnes on 20 July. Unbeaten in this shoe-fitting and is likely to have been carefully prepared for this engagement
3. KALIENTE D’ATOUT – Inconsistent 2-start maiden whose best references/performances have been achieved at a lower level. Only 7th over 2150m at Cagnes on 20 July – others preferred
4. KAYA DU SAPTEL – Ultra-consistent filly with sound references/form credentials, including an encouraging last-start 3rd in the same barefoot configuration at Cagnes over 2150m on 20 July. Not taken lightly
5. KATE – Distance-suited filly with a win, a 2nd and a 4th from her last 3 course-and-distance appearances. Returned from a 3-month absence when disqualified over 2875m at Enghien on 6 July but could well redeem herself
6. KALINE DES RIOULTS – Lightly raced 9-start maiden who finished 2nd in 4 of her first 5 appearances. Finished a well-beaten 14th at Enghien over 2875m on 6 July but is more than likely to fare better at this level/against this opposition
7. KEYPTOWN – Finished an improved/eye-catching 2nd over 2150m at Cagnes on 20 July in her first barefoot appearance. Confirmation expected
8. KAVALE DU CHOQUEL – Didn’t go unnoticed when 4th over 2925m on her return from a 4-month absence at Cagnes on 8 July. For lovers of outsiders
9. KATANA QUICK – Unbeaten in 2 starts at this venue, including one over this distance (on 10 February), and has won 2 of her 3 appearances in this barefoot configuration. Only 8th (shod) over 2875m at Enghien on 13 July but will pose more of a threat under these conditions
10. KALLISTEE – Delicate but has undeniable means – confirmed as much by winning over 2150m at this venue on 20 July in her first barefoot appearance. Confirmation expected
11. KATIMINNIE BROUETS – Revealed considerable early promise (in 2022) but has lost her way this year – unplaced in her last 5 starts, the latest (8th) at Cagnes over 2150m on 13 July. Presented plated for the first time in her career
Summary: Progressive KALLISTEE (10) looked better than ever when winning here over 2150m last week in her first barefoot appearance. She tends to be a tricky customer, especially at the start/in the initial stages, but need only confirm the improvement made in this configuration to win again over this extended distance. KATANA QUICK (9) is, however, likely to prove a worthy adversary. The latter boasts an unbeaten two-from-two record on this track and has won both completed outings (3 starts) when racing unshod. KATE (5), KAYA DU SAPTEL (4) and KAICHA (2) appeal most of the remainder.
