R1 CABOURG [R-H]
C1 – PRIX D’ALENCON – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Mounted – EUR € 33,000

1. HAZOE DES GLENAN – Delicate but has undeniable means, especially in the mounted code. Didnt go unnoticed when 5th over 2750m at Pornichet on 16 August

2. GO FOR BELLAY – Track-specialist with sound references on this course so shouldn’t be hastily condemned for his last-start faux pas (disqualification) at Vibraye on 15 August

3. MADE OF STARS – Versatile veteran with solid form references/credentials in the mounted category, including a win and a recent 3rd (over 2950m at Saint-Malo on 7 August) in his last 2 starts. Sets the standard

4. HEARTBREAKER WELL – Consistent performer under the saddle. Reverts to his preferred discipline after a much-needed comeback outing (8th) in a 2300m harness race on 9 August

5. ELDER SHADOW – Veteran 10-year-old with references under these conditions and on this course. Has only a minor role to play after finishing 8th in a 2475m harness race at Royan on 11 August

6. GALOPIN DE MARTHE – Consistent, versatile hard-knocker with sound references in both codes including a last-start 5th in a harness race over track and trip on 6 August. Dark horse on his return under the saddle

7. HURLEVENT – Winner of his last 3 appearances in the mounted category, the latest over 2700m at Vincennes on 28 June. Will be a factor

8. FAKIR STARDUST – Out of sorts and unlikely to make any impression after his latest failure (disqualification) at Dozule on 14 August

9. HELIUM DE L’ITON – Consistent hard-knocker with sound references under the saddle but is rarely seen in this (unshod) configuration. Finished a good 4th over 2875m in a mounted race at Meslay-du-Maine on 30 July

10. FAKIR DE VILLODON – Went off the boil some time ago and is unlikely to trouble the judge here after his latest failure (disqualification) at Saint-Jean-de-Monts on 18 August

11. HAMISH – Inconsistent veteran but is confirmed at this level/under these conditions. Has no more than a place chance after his recent 8th over 2725m at Pornichet on 1 August

Summary: MADE OF STARS (3) was beaten by two smart trotters when finishing 3rd last time and will fight for victory once more with a repeat of that performance. HEARTBREAKER WELL (4), after a preparation race in the harness category, and HURLEVENT (7), who won his last 3 appearances in the mounted code, are best equipped to pose a threat. Consistent HELIUM DE L’ITON (9) has legitimate ambitions too.

SELECTIONS
MADE OF STARS (3) – HEARTBREAKER WELL (4) – HURLEVENT (7) – HELIUM DE L’ITON (9)
C2 – PRIX DE LISIEUX – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 29,000

1. KISS YOU PIYA – Course-and-distance winner two starts back (9 July) so shouldn’t be hastily condemned for his disqualification at Enghien over 2150m on 27 July. Respected on his return to this venue

2. KAJOU JOSSELYN – Sparked improvement last time at Enghien and didnt go unnoticed in finishing 6th over 2875m on 14 August. Not taken lightly

3. KENJI D’AUBERVILLE – His best references have been achieved under the saddle – finished 4th in a 2875m mounted race at Enghien early this month (3 August). Never before been seen in the harness category.

4. J’ADORE CHENEVIERE – Was returning from a 5-month absence when finishing 9th over 3000m at Neuillé-Pont-Pierre on 4 August. Others preferred

5. KATOUCHKA – Ideally positioned at the start and has regained her form/momentum recently, which she confirmed by finishing 3rd over track and trip on 2 August. Candidate for success

6. KEN DU POMMEREUX – Went off the boil last year and has made no impression in 4 appearances this season – disqualified in consecutive recent outings, the latest on this course over 2725m on 9 August

7. KLASSIKA DIDALO – An honest performer seldom far off the mark – confirmed as much by finishing 5th in consecutive recent outings, the latest over 2550m at Cherbourg on 19 August

8. JACINTHE DES ULMES – Last-start winner over 2850m on turf at Bréhal in her first unshod appearance on 5 August. One to keep an eye on racing barefoot once more

9. JERIDAN JASMA – Versatile hard-knocker who showed his form and well-being with a last-start victory under the saddle in a 2550m mounted race at Reims on 22 June. Attractive outsider back in the harness category

10. JOCKEY – Has regained form/momentum recently, finishing 6th in the course-and-distance Prix des Hêtres (2 August) before a recent 4th over 2875m at Meslay-du-Maine. Dark horse

11. JODIE DU VIVIER – Disqualified in back-to-back outings earlier this year, the latest in a 2825m harness race at Chartres on 28 April. Best watched for now

12. JALOUSIE MAZA – Finished a game-in-defeat 2nd over track and trip on 2 August. Need only confirm that form/improvement to play a leading role

13. JET SET – Honest mare/hard-knocker who is seldom far off the mark. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 6th over 2150m at Argentan on 10 August

14. JAMES MADRIK – Quality trotter but remains very delicate and seldom far from a fault – disqualified in 3 consecutive recent outings, the latest over 2150m at Argentan on 10 August. Capable of winning if avoiding disqualification

15. JUDY MATIDY – Confirmed the improvement of her previous outing (3rd) on turf at Bréhal with a last-start 4th at Argentan over 2150m on 10 August. Ought to remain competitive

16. KESITO D’URVILLE – Consistent performer with sound references/form credentials, even with his irons (shod). Finished 4th racing fully unshod over 2875m at Enghien on 8 August – shoes refitted

Summary: Enigmatic JAMES MADRIK (14) has the undeniable means to achieve success at this level but he remains delicate, so this will again be a question of his wisdom. KATOUCHKA (5), who has the benefit of a 25m headstart with Yoann Lebourgeois in the sulky, showed both her form and well-being by finishing 3rd on this course recently and is best equipped to pick up the pieces should the selection falter. JUDY MATIDY (15), after a good 4th at Argentan last time, and KISS YOU PIYA (1), who won convincingly on this course two starts back, complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
JAMES MADRIK (14) – KATOUCHKA (5) – JUDY MATIDY (15) – KISS YOU PIYA (1)
C3 – PRIX FABIEN ROSSOLINI – 2725m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000

1. JUSTE PARFAITE – Tricky customer but is a track specialist and former course-and-distance winner (19 July). Should not be hastily condemned for her latest faux pas (disqualification) on 6 August

2. JURELLA DE PALM – She is, arguably, the class horse in the race. Finished a reassuring 2nd on turf at Brehal over 2850m on 12 August and is ideally positioned to play another leading role here

3. JOSIE DE MIENNAIS – Took 28 starts to break her duck, winning over 2600m at Genêts last month but followed up with a 3125m success at Questembert on 4 August. Attractive outsider in current form

4. JUNON DES ROSES – A model of consistency with rock-solid form credentials. Has finished 2nd in 3 consecutive starts, the latest on this course over 2750m on 13 August, after winning at Reims in June

5. JALHIA DU HANOY – Unbeaten in this shoe-fitting, winning both starts with this configuration – the latest over 2400m on 13 June at Amiens. Candidate for success

6. JAVA DU MONCEL – Honest mare seldom far off the mark and has confirmed as much by finishing 5th in consecutive recent outings, the latest over 2700m at La Capelle on 22 July

7. JULIANA DES LUCAS – Fast-finishing 2nd in a 2400m harness race at Amiens on 1 August and boasts sound form references/credentials on this course. Warrants respect

8. JENA JOSSELYN – Versatile mare with sound references/form credentials in both trotting disciplines, including a last-start 3rd under the saddle on this course over 2750m on 6 August. Keep safe

9. JORDANIE GLAM – Inconsistent 33-start maiden but shouldnt be underestimated racing fully unshod for the first time in her career. Not taken lightly despite finishing 9th over 2900m in her last start on 14 August

10. JAKA DU RUEL – Won a 2850m event on turf at Bréhal last month racing barefoot before finishing 7th over the same track and trip on 12 August (again unshod). Has no references in this shoe-fitting

11. JAIDA DE MAY – Long-time maiden (37 starts) who seldom finishes far off the mark but unlikely to open her account here – was 4th over 3150m at Abbeville on 11 August

12. JULIANA BREIL – Last-start winner over 2850m on turf at Bréhal in this shoe-fitting on 5 August. One to keep an eye on racing in the same configuration

13. JOY ERCA – Has regained form and momentum recently – finished 6th at Amiens over 2400m earlier this month before her 2nd on this course over 2750m on 6 August. Dark horse

14. JUBILATION – Consistent hard-knocker with sound references/form credentials, including with this shoe-fitting. Soundly beaten (12th) over 2875m at Enghien on 16 August

Summary: JURELLA DE PALM (2) only recently joined Mathieu Mottier and, in just her second start for the stable, finished a reassuring 2nd on turf at Brehal. She shouldn’t be long in reconnecting with success on the evidence of that performance and she looks good value to do so here at the expense of JUNON DES ROSES (4) who is at the top of her game and expected to fight for victory once more. However, she was beaten by JUSTE PERFAITE (1) in a mid-July meeting, so the latter’s chances have to be respected too. JALHIA DU HANOY (5) and JULIANA DES LUCAS (7) appeal most of the remainder.

SELECTIONS
JURELLA DE PALM (2) – JUNON DES ROSES (4) – JUSTE PARFAITE (1) – JALHIA DU HANOY (5)
C4 – PRIX D’ARGENTAN – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 37,000

1. CHERRY TOP – Capable trotter but is best watched for now racing shod on his reappearance. Absent since 23 June when finishing 12th at Vincennes over 2850m

2. GAVROCHE DE L’ITON – Boasts 6 podium finishes this year, including 3 victories. Proved his form and well-being by finishing 2nd last time over 2400m at Amiens on 1 August

3. FUTE BUROIS – Didn’t go unnoticed when 6th over 2875m at Enghien on 29 June, albeit in a weaker race (lower grade). Unplaced over 2150m at that venue on 27 July, finishing a well-beaten 13th

4. ELEVEN SHAPTER – Caught the eye when 3rd on turf at Bernay last month and confirmed that form/improvement by finishing 4th in a course-and-distance Quinté+ on 9 August. Attractive outsider

5. FILOU DU BERGER – Returned to form with an improved 4th in a claiming race over 2475m at Villeréal on 10 August. This is tougher

6. GUIGNOL DE CHARDET – Finished 3rd at Amiens behind HABIT DE SOIREE (15) and GAVROCHE DE L’ITON (2) and didn’t go unnoticed when 6th in a course-and-distance Quinte+ event on 9 August. Dark horse

7. ALONE (SWE) – Yet to establish himself in 3 starts on French soil, disqualified twice – was sanctioned in his latest appearance at Enghien in a 2875m harness race on 8 August

8. GOLDORACK – Out of sorts in 3 comeback appearances after a 3-month absence and has been disqualified in consecutive recent outings, the latest over track and trip in a similar contest on 2 August. Shouldnt be hastily condemned

9. CANTO DEI VENTI – Held his own in well-composed fields at Vincennes earlier this year, predominantly over shorter distances but has regained his form/momentum recently, finishing 2nd over 2550m at Bordeaux-Le Bouscat on 19 June. Keep safe

10. DOWHATYOUDODOWELL – Versatile performer who has regained momentum under the saddle recently, winning a 2875m mounted event at Argentan on 10 August. Capable in the harness category so is dangerous to discount

11. HASARD D’ERABLE – Won a 2850m turf event at Bréhal on 22 July and was in contention for a follow-up victory at the time of his fault in a course-and-distance Quinté+ on 2 August (disqualified 200m out). Capable of making amends

12. FALCON D’OURVILLE – Went off the boil after winning at Argentan in December 2022. No longer the force of old and was disqualified last time out over track and trip on 19 July – others preferred

13. HISA DU MARGAS – Inconsistent mare whose 3rd over 2850m at Vincennes in May was her best 2024 performance in 5 starts this year. Out of sorts since and unlikely to trouble the judge on the evidence of her Les Sables 8th over 2000m on 9 August

14. HONEY KING – Thriving veteran enjoying a purple patch – finished 3rd in a course-and-distance Quinte+ last month and resumed winning ways with a last-start success over 2825m at Sablé-sur-Sarthe on 28 July. The horse to beat

15. HABIT DE SOIREE – Confirmed the improvement of his previous outing (2nd) with a last-start win over 2400m at Amiens on 1 August. Ought to remain competitive

16. HASUR DAIRPET – Has demonstrated commendable consistency and boasts solid form references/credentials, including a last-start 5th over 2875m in a strong field at Enghien on 8 August. Beaten by HONEY KING (14) at Sablé-sur-Sarthe (28 July)

Summary: HONEY KING (14) has been a model of consistency this year and confirmed his good form and physical condition by bouncing back to winning ways at Sablé-sur-Sarthe last time out. Victorious in his two latest barefoot appearances, he looks good value to continue his momentum and gets the nod ahead of HASUR DAIRPET (16) whose competitiveness at this level is beyond doubt. HASARD D’ERABLE (11) would’ve played a leading role were it not for his disqualification in a recent course-and-distance Quinte+ race and needs only to remain wise to fight for victory. CANTO DEI VENTI (9), who proved himself effective on right-hand tracks last time, should make his presence felt. HABIT DE SOIREE (15), GOLDORACK (8), and DOWHATYOUDODOWELL (10) aren’t without a chance either.

SELECTIONS
HONEY KING (14) – HASUR DAIRPET (16) – HASARD D’ERABLE (11) – CANTO DEI VENTI (9)

10. KAKUETA VEDAQUAISE – Consistent filly with sound references and form credentials, some at a higher level. Unplaced (8th) over 2850m at Meslay on 30 July

Summary: KISS ME BEJI (4) put an unlucky 8th on this course behind her with an authoritative last-start success at Amiens and should continue her momentum on her return to Cabourg. KAPELLA VET (1) has achieved the fastest time on this course (1’13”7) and should give the selection most to fear. KEILA DU PERCHE (8) performs well at this venue and is another with legitimate claims, along with consistent KALITY LOVE (6).

Summary: LEADER TURGOT (3) sets a good standard here on the strength and consistency of his performances and there could be more to come from Pierre Sorais’ charge who races in this shoeing configuration for the first time with Yoann Lebourgeois a notable engagement in the sulky. LICAR SOMOLLI (2) got his career back on track with a reassuring last start and could make life difficult for the selection if building on that improvement. L’ECLAIR DE PLAY (1) has the form and experience to play a leading role, along with last-start winner LOOK AT ME DIDO (6) who ought to remain competitive.

SELECTIONS

LOVE ME PASS (9) finished 2nd to a smart sort in a harness race last time and could have more to offer switched to the ridden code. LADY DU PERCHE (1) ought to improve after a recent 8th at Caen, so completes the shortlist along with experienced LAZIE PONT VAUTIER (12).

10. TURTLE CHOPE – Finished close up in 4th position over track/trip in a Class 4 divided handicap on the 7th of August 2024. Big runner

11. OPERA – Finished 14th over 1600m at Compiegne in a Class 4 divided limited handicap on the 12th of July 2024. Outside place chance on best form

12. TRIESTE – Narrowly denied in 2nd spot over track/trip in a Class 4 divided handicap on the 7th of August 2024. Winning chance

13. WHAT DO YOU SAY – Beaten out of sight in 6th over track/trip in a Class 4 value claiming handicap on the 15th of August 2024. Makes no appeal

Summary: TRIESTE (12) was just touched off last time out when putting in a terrific effort, she can confirm that run with the apprentice engaged again. TURTLE CHOPE (10) wasn’t far behind the top pick and they meet on the exact same weight terms so that would indicate that there shouldn’t be a lot to choose between the two. JOYEUSE DE ROMAY (5) finds herself worse off at the weights with reopposing rivals who she beat but there is every chance she could confirm the form. IDAHO JAMES (7) is seldom far off the action and should be involved at the finish.

11. O’SSITOT – Finished 7th behind a couple reopposing sorts over track/trip in a Class 4 divided handicap on the 7th of August 2024. Others preferred

13. HOOLONG – Finished 5th over 1600m at Compiegne in a Class 3 divided limited handicap on the 12th of July 2024. Place chance

14. MAPLE GIRL – Well beaten in 14th over track/trip in a Class 4 divided handicap on the 7th of August 2024. Would be a shock winner

Summary: PUMP PUMP CITY (1) is best forgiven for a rather indifferent run last time out and if he reproduces his penultimate run which came against stronger, he will be a massive contender. GOLD PLAYER (2) hasn’t been the most consistent but is capable and can mount a challenge on the basis of his penultimate run. FERNANDO (3) arrives in steady form and had the better of a few that he meets here so could confirm that form. SECRET FEELING (12) has won three times from her last six efforts so needs to be included.

8. DELPHINE – Held in 6th position over track/trip in a limited handicap on the 31st of July 2024. Can be competitive

11. UNDERPROMISE – Finished 4th over 2150m at Lyon La Soie in a maiden contest on the 6th of April 2024. Others make more appeal

12. NADYROSE – Weak run in 13th over 1600m at Clairefontaine in a divided limited handicap on the 9th of August 2024. Would be a surprise winner

Summary: In a very competitive looking handicap where many are knocking on the door, SOKNA (2) is taken to end her run of four consecutive second placed efforts. ALBINE (6) remains a maiden but has been threatening to win and with a bit of luck on her side, she could break the ice. TANTOMILE (7) has good form to her name and with the right run through, it would come as no surprise to see her win. MA MOME (1) needs to be forgiven for a poor effort last time out and she could produce her best.

C1 – PRIX FLAMBEAU DES PINS – 2775m (a1m1/2) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 21,000

1. IRLANDE DU CHENET – 4th of 9 in a 2950m Dinan claimer 2.5 weeks ago, on just 2nd start back, but still appears to have no realistic chance

2. IMA DU CANET – Sanctioned in a 2750m Class F at La Ferté-Vidame on Sunday, but is barefoot for the occasion and the Eric Raffin-factor must be taken into consideration. Place chance

3. IENA MESLOISE – No star but always gives her best, latterly 6th of 7 in a 2600m Berck-sur-Mer amateurs Class H on 4 August, and can get a look-in

4. IDYLLE DU GASSEL – Never far from faulting but came a pleasant 5th of 12 in a 2750m Class H at La Ferté-Vidame last Sunday. Unlikely to shake things up but can still make first 5

5. INES DE MAJEAN – Back under harness after coming 7th of 9 in a monté Class F over course and distance on 12 August and is not about to spring any surprises

6. ISKA DE VICTHI – Honest mare that finished 3rd of 11 in a 2300m Abbeville amateurs Class H 12 days ago. Breaks in front and is not incapable of bagging her first race since February 2023

7. IRIS RENARDIER – Showed marginal improvement last week when 7th of 12 in a 3100m Chinon Class F, but still has more to find

8. IBACA – Was not disgraced when 6th of 7 in a 2625m Class F at La Rochelle earlier in the month. From the front line, in this company, looks capable of imposing

9. INES DU MARLOU – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2875m Class H at Bagnoles-de-l’Orne last week. On back line and can be ruled out

10. ITALIE FRANCE – Last of 10 in a 2750m Class F at La Ferté-Vidame last weekend. Reverts to a proven formula and, on good behaviour, can play an important part

Summary: One of the more open races of the day and it may just be worth taking a punt on IBACA (8) who races with front shoes off and who enjoys a good entry on the front row, although ISKA DE VICTHI (6) reassured at Abbeville and looks a similarly serious proposition. Unshod-behind this time, ITALIE FRANCE (10) is giving away distance but should have a lot to contribute in this small field. Barefoot, with the champion driver reining, IMA DU CANET (2) is most definitely one for the shortlist.

1. JULIANO DELTO – Good, consistent type that was surprisingly unfocused in a 2475m Francheville Class F last week. Is confirmed here though, sports a new configuration, and is not to be overlooked

2. JACARTO DE HOUELLE – Faulted early in a 2675m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel last Sunday. Has bags of ability though and with Anthony Barrier reining this time, will be afforded every chance

3. JUDOKA – Last but one, when prepping for this, in a 2725m Pornichet Class F 3 weeks ago. Has never disappointed here, is barefoot for the occasion, and merits a 2nd look

4. JUPITER FRANCE – Encouraging 4th of 12 in a 3150m Class F at La Roche-Posay on 11 August but, in this company, will have too much to do

5. JOYAU DAIRPET – Quickly sanctioned in a 2725m Pornichet Class F 3 weeks ago but nevertheless showed his form. Dynamic winner here early last month and, if focused, can play a leading role

6. JOKER DES LANDES – Game sort that lost his action in a 2850m Class F at Bagnoles-de-l’Orne 8 days ago. Will appreciate the return to a hard surface and debuts at the venue with justified ambition

7. JOURNAL INTIME – Placed 3rd here before repeating in a 2950m Le Mans Class F on 27 July. Is plainly close to his race and with the aid of Eric Raffin, can return to winning ways

8. JACAR DE LA DIVES – Useful trotter but has not been seen out since coming 5th of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D early-May and will need the run

9. JUHELLET – Faulted in a 3125m Vibraye Class F mid-month. Front shoes off this time but others still preferred

10. JOHN RIVER – Going well when sanctioned in a 2950m Class F at Le Mans late last month. Has been afforded time to get his house in order and, with stride in check, can figure prominently

11. JAG DE ROZEVIC – Secured 2nd straight victory when winning a 3150m Abbeville Class H earlier in the month and, considering the entry, will have his chances

12. JASPE IMPERIAL – Won a 2900m Dozulé monté Class F 9 days ago. Has decent harness references but on this occasion, looks out of his depth

Summary: In the frame in his last two, proven at the venue, and entrusted to Eric Raffin, JOURNAL INTIME (7) looks to have the edge here, however JOKER DES LANDES (6) will be no pushover if Sébastien Hardy keeps him trotting. JOYAU DAIRPET (5) has twice failed to confirm last month’s win here but his form is not in doubt and a little bit of application would see him competitive for a place in the frame. JAG DE ROZEVIC (11) returns to the venue on a hat-trick, is competitively-shod, and unlikely to be far off the mark.

1. IVOIRE DU CHATELET – Encouraged at La Rochelle before finishing 9th of 15 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F a week ago, and others easier to back

2. INTERDIT DE BOUERE – Switches back to the harness code after coming last but one in a 2775m monté Class F here on 12 August. Hind shoes off but others still preferred

3. IMPEC D’AVRAN – 7th of 10 finishers in a 2900m amateurs Class H at La Chartre-sur-le-Loir last Sunday and even from the front line will have too much to do

4. IMPOLOKO – Last of 8 in a Class F over course and distance 2 weeks ago. Has nothing to write home about this term and can be passed over

5. IVOIRE D’ECHAL – Made it 5 straight sanctions when faulting in a 2650m Pornichet Class F mid-month. Pads fitted this time but other more reliable options available

6. IKOS PRESS – Sanctioned in a 3450m amateurs Class H at Agon-Coutainville last weekend. Is in excellent shape however and can get a look-in if he stays in stride

7. IX THE BEST – Has not been seen out since completing the hat-trick in a 2275m Nantes monté Class E in early-June. Has other priorities and can be ruled out

8. INDIANO JIM – Disappointing since imposing at La Rochelle in the spring, latterly 8th of 10 in a Pornichet Class F a fortnight ago. Appreciates Les Sables though and must be respected

9. ILTON DU BRAY – 4th of 15 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F a week ago. Unlikely to win this but has been consistent of late and can make first 5

10. ILCAR QUARTMA – Made up for a brace of sanctions when missing out by little to ILLUSTRE SAX (13) in a a 2500m Class F at La Rochelle on 7 August. Similar configuration here and can again challenge for the win

11. IF DE LA COUDRE – Was not disgraced when 5th of 8 in a 2625m Class F at La Rochelle earlier in the month. Races barefoot this time and will be expected to show marked improvement

12. IDOCTRO DE HOUELLE – Won a Vittel Class F before coming 4th of 14 in a 3125m Granville Class F 2.5 weeks ago. 25m worse off this time but can still play a small role

13. ILLUSTRE SAX – Clinched a 2500m Class F at La Rochelle earlier in the month despite traffic problems. Has thrived since moving to his new yard and is very easy to like for the double

14. INSTANT DU BOIS – Reassuring 2nd of 12 in a 3100m Chinon monté Class F last week. Entrusted to the champion driver for the occasion and is unlikely to disappoint

15. IBAN DE KARA – Put in a good effort to run 2nd of 7 finishers in a 2625m Cherbourg Class E mid-June. Has freshness on his side and the good entry stands him in good stead

Summary: The front line looks particularly weak in comparison to the wealthier elements, with the reinvigorated ILLUSTRE SAX (13) looking eminently capable of confirming his recent victory at La Rochelle. ILCAR QUARTMA (10) was just edged by him that day and can again figure prominently. INSTANT DU BOIS (14) returns to the harness code with Eric Raffin in charge and looks a player, as does the capable IBAN DE KARA (15) who returns fresh from a short spell.

1. HYROPHARE – 4th of 8 in a 2750m Class F at Le Pertre on Sunday. Would be preferred in the amateur category and chances limited

2. HUGO DE DUSSAC – Missed out by little in a 2725m Pornichet Class G earlier this month. Anthony Barrier maintains faith and will be justifiably eyeing victory this time

3. HORUS DE VAL – Still had a lot to give when sanctioned in a 2650m Class G here on 12 August. Won here last month and is still very much in the picture

4. HAVANE DE CHENU – Occasionally loses focus but is a quality mare, most recently 3rd of 9 in a 3150m Class E at La Roche-Posay 12 days ago, and must be respected

5. GOOD WATER – Failed to live up to expectations when 5th of 8 in a 2650m Class G here on 12 August and can expect to find this a tougher task

6. HOOLIGAN – 6th of 8 in a 2650m Class G here 11 days ago. Races barefoot this time though and, from the front row, can make his presence felt

7. HOMMAGE DU TRIO – Quickly sanctioned in a 2750m Class F at La Capelle a month ago, after having twice gone close. Has a lot going for him this time and must be considered a leading proposition

8. HARMONY LA NUIT – Won a 2875m Class E at Meslay-du-Maine in good order last week. Has never disappointed here when unshod, and even from the 2nd line is not about to start

9. DANTE TURGOT – Appeared to be getting back in shape before finishing 10th of 14 in a 2800m Class E at Castéra-Verduzan 11 days ago, and can be confidently ruled out

10. FELINE DE MIRANDA – Honest mare that came a pleasant 5th of 8 in a 2650m Class D here last Saturday. Takes on a tougher bunch this time and the extra 25m will do her no favours

11. GERONIMO FUEGO – Reliability not his strong suit but came 3rd of 8 finishers in a 2700m Gr.3 at Grenade-sur-Garonne last week. On back row but will still generate some interest

Summary: HUGO DE DUSSAC (2) displayed marked improvement at Pornichet last time out, with Anthony Barrier reining and, with stride in check, should be able to win this. Runner-up in two before faulting early at La Capelle, HOMMAGE DU TRIO (7) has been entrusted to Eric Raffin for the first time and is not about to let the side down. Sanctioned when favourite here recently, HORUS DE VAL (3) secured a hat-trick in the space of 15 days last month and Eric Lambertz will be keen to put things right. HAVANE DE CHENU (4) blows hot and cold but reassured at La Roche-Posay last time and should not be underestimated.

1. IHLUNA – Has started to come good again, latterly 2nd of 10 in a 2625m Class F at Saint-Jean-de-Monts on 11 August, but will find this a stiffer test

2. IRMA DU VIVIER – Useful mare making first appearance since faulting in a 2150m Toulouse Class D last February, and will need the outing

3. I KEEP CALM – Last of 4 finishers, but by no means trounced, in a 2875m Class E at Meslay-du-Maine late last month. Top driver in charge this time and can win a race of this nature

4. IVOIRE DAIRPET – 2nd of 10 in a 2875m Class F at Meslay-du-Maine last week. Races shod this time though and best to hold off

5. HANACK DE VIVOIN – Sanctioned in a 3150m Class E at La Roche-Posay on 11 August, but has never disappointed over 2775m here and should not be entirely written off

6. IBLIS GEMA – Oddly out of sorts when last but one in a 2600m Josselin Class H earlier in the month. Usually one of the more consistent elements here and the engagement of Eric Raffin will do his prospects no disservice. Chance

7. IDEFIX DES LANDES – Decent 5th of 11 finishers in a 2750m Class F at La Ferté-Vidame on Sunday. Is in his category here and can challenge for a place in first 3

8. ISABEY QUESNOT – Barring penultimate outing, has been enjoying a productive run of form, most recently 2nd of 10 in a 2700m Miramont-de-Guyenne Class H last week, and should be good enough to trot his way into first 5

9. INES DE LA ROUVRE – Has gone from strength to strength over past 6 weeks, rewarded with victory in a 2800m Vichy Class G 3 weeks ago, and is not incapable of repeating

Summary: Improving with every run this summer, I KEEP CALM (3) is plainly nearing his race, went close on his only start at the venue, and with Anthony Barrier at the helm, can win this. Eric Raffin, however, has been engaged for the in-form IBLIS GEMA (6) who has already won under these conditions. Nicely-engaged at the limit of earnings, INES DE LA ROUVRE (9) is clearly back at her best and legitimately bids to confirm her Vichy performance. IDEFIX DES LANDES (7) boasts solid credentials in this category and will not be far off the mark.

1. KEOPS DE JUMILLY – Hard to fault this summer, most recently 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2650m Pornichet Class E 9 days ago. In similar company this time and has the wherewithal to bring the fight to KIAMA (5)

2. KAOUITO DES GLENAN – Raced better in a 2650m Class E here last Saturday than his 6th of 12 would suggest and is in with a reasonable shout of making first 5

3. KEVISE BECO – Unremarkable 6th of 15 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F a month ago and is not about to shake things up

4. KRISTAL DU TRIO – Has had time to freshen up after finishing 6th of 11 in a 2825m Class F at Sablé-sur-Sarthe in late-June. Has buckets of talent and can make a big splash

5. KIAMA – Has shown a different side since starting to race barefoot, most recently winning a 2725m Pornichet Class F, in good order, on 18 July, and clearly has the capacity to impose again

6. KAPRICE D’EVAILLES – Did not enjoy the best of runs when 5th of 8 in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class F 2.5 weeks ago but, with Raffin reining, can set the record straight

7. KARUKERA D’OR – Decent run came to an end when sanctioned in a 2850m Bréhal Class E 11 days ago. In better company this time and, even reverting to a previous formula, is still not an obvious choice

8. KALA SPORT – Not the most dependable but reassuring 2nd of 8 in a 2600m Josselin Class F 12 days ago. Sports a new configuration and should be no easy touch

9. KANELLE LA RAVELLE – 3rd of 11, at 119/1, in a 2750m monté Class F 10 days ago, but a repeat seems most improbable

10. KILLER DE MILLAC – Opened his career account last month but failed to confirm when last of 8 in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class E a fortnight ago, and can be passed over

11. KLIF DE LA MITRIE – 9th of 11 in a Class E over course and distance on 10 July. Has been completely off the boil all season and can be ruled out

12. KEFIR DU GOUTIER – Modest colt that came last of 10 in a 2950m Biarritz Class E late last month and will have nothing to contribute

13. KERMESSE DU PARC – Surprise 2nd of 9 in a 2650m Pornichet Class F mid-month. Fitted with hind pads for the first time and will not be sent out at 78/1 this time around

14. KALIAH DES LANDES – Showed improvement last weekend when 4th of 7 in a 2600m Class F at Le Touquet, but still has more to find

Summary: Unbeaten in both starts this year, KIAMA (5) left a very good impression at Pornichet last month, and even though taking on the colts this time, the hat-trick is still within her grasp. She will nevertheless be pitted against the tricky but talented KEOPS DE JUMILLY (1) who is hard to fault in the day’s configuration, and KRISTAL DU TRIO (4) whose recent result belies his real ability. Reunited with Eric Raffin for the occasion, KAPRICE D’EVAILLES (6) deserves to be taken seriously.

1. JIPSIE DU LAYON – Unexceptional 7th of 12 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F a week ago and, with shoes on, has no possible chance

2. JULIETTE D’OO – Has done nothing but progress lately, most recently 3rd of 10 in a 2650m Pornichet Class F, and should again pick up some prizemoney

3. JELLA DE LA NOEMIE – Has merit but sanctioned in 4 of last 5, latterly a 2475m Francheville Class F mid-month, and even with modified shoeing, will have few takers

4. JOLLY DES BORDES – Endured a tough trip to finish last but one, behind JACINTHE DES BOIS (5), in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class F 2 weeks ago. Pleasant 3rd here last month but still represents no more than a minor place chance

5. JACINTHE DES BOIS – Surprise winner of a 2300m Châteaubriant Class F 2 weeks ago but a repeat looks to be off the cards

6. JOLIE ROMANCE – Made up for a brace of sanctions when victorious in a 2700m Class F at La Capelle on 29 July. Should take well to the new conditions and will have her chances

7. JALNA DES ECUS – Secured a 2nd straight when successful in a 2600m Montignac Class F 2 weeks ago. Hard to knock since the spring and even though stepping up in category, will have her supporters

8. JEUNE ORANGE COTON – Despite traffic problems ran 4th of 10 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F 3 weeks ago. Just her own sex to contend with this time and can open her 2024 account

9. JAMAICA DE LOU – Off the boil so far this season, latterly 8th of 11 in a 2950m Le Mans Class F late last month, and can be passed over

10. JOLLY LADY – Reassuring 4th of 7 finishers in a 2650m Class F here earlier in the month and a similar effort would see her challenge for a step on the podium

11. JAMAICA PHEDO – Capricious but capable mare that faulted in a 2650m Class F here 2.5 weeks ago. Has nothing to prove in this category and can make a big splash if Eric Raffin keeps her trotting

12. JOKE BLUE – Sanctioned in a 3100m Chinon Class F last week. Consistently in the thick of things though when focused and barefoot, and with application will be no easy touch

Summary: JEUNE ORANGE COTON (8) left a very good impression against the boys earlier in the month and, in their absence, looks the one to beat. That said, JOLIE ROMANCE (6) is never easy to knock when focused and, on good behaviour, can put up significant resistance. Although a handful at the best of times, JAMAICA PHEDO (11) is not lacking ability, sports front pads for the occasion, and the engagement of Eric Raffin will only work in her favour. JOLLY LADY (10) appears to be back on the right road and Guillaume Martin will be eager to make good on her form.

2. L’IMPERIALE AR – Has not been seen out since coming 7th of 8 in a 2850m Laon Class F early-May. Fitted with pads for the occasion but has yet to display any aptitude and others easier to back

3. LULU D’ECHAL – Sanctioned in 3 of 4 monté starts. Is not entirely devoid of ability and, with some luck in running, can pick up a minor place cheque

4. LOUNA CAYENNAISE – Has taken particularly well to the monté code. 2nd of 10 finishers in a Class F over course and distance last weekend and has a realistic chance of losing her maiden tag

5. LEONARD DU CLOS – Has progressed from every run, latterly 4th of 7 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E late-July, and can win this if he turns

6. LOLA DU LIVET – 3rd of 7 in a 2875m Enghien Class D a week ago. Takes on the colts this time but still looks capable of finishing in the mix

7. LOOPING DU PERRE – Runner-up in all 3 starts to date, most recently a 2100m Lignières Class F a month back, and is unlikely to return home empty-handed

Summary: A progressive sort that has twice come close to getting off the mark, LEONARD DU CLOS (5) goes left-handed for the first time and could well bring home the bacon. Anne Barthélemy will nevertheless be keeping a watchful eye on LOUNA CAYENNAISE (4) who has taken well to both Les Sables-d’Olonne and her new vocation, and LOLA DU LIVET (6) who drops back in category after a solid effort at Enghien.
