French Selections Saturday 24th

R1 CLAIREFONTAINE [R-H]
C1 – PRIX DU 50E FESTIVAL DE CINEMA AMERICAIN DE DEAUVILLE (PRIX NORTH JET) – 1800m (a1m1/8) – TURF – Class 2 Race – Flat – EUR € 34,000

1. PONDERADO – Nice win at this track last time on his second run, which was over 1600m on July 27th. Should follow up

2. HAYA LAND – 6th on his debut over 1400m at Vichy on July 15th on his sole start to date. Should improve and is hard to discount

3. GREYMARA – 4th on the sole run so far over 1400m at Dieppe on July 23rd. Has to improve but others look more likely

4. LADY BE GOOD – Two runs, placed on both of them at this track, with the latest over 1800m when she was 2nd on August 9th. One to keep safe

5. MISTYSEA – Credible 3rd last time over 1600m at Saint-Malo on August 8th in a Class 2 race. In the mix

6. MRIYA – Two unplaced runs so far, the latter over 1600m at Vichy on July 31st in a maiden race. Hard to recommend

Summary: PONDERADO (1) looks like the one to be with in this Class 2 event. He still looked a tad inexperienced when scoring narrowly on his second run over 1600m at this track last month and should keep improving. LADY BE GOOD (4) has been placed in both her starts at this track. She can not be ignored and looks like the biggest rival to the selection. MISTYSEA (5) was a decent third in a Class 2 race last time and makes up the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
PONDERADO (1) – LADY BE GOOD (4) – MISTYSEA (5) – HAYA LAND (2)
C2 – PRIX DU PUBLIC DE LA VILLE DE DEAUVILLE 2024 (PRIX DE GUERNESEY) – 1800m (a1m1/8) – TURF – Class 3 Race – Flat – EUR € 23,000

1. TIGRR – Nice 3rd last time over 1900m at Deauville in a Class 2 handicap on July 28th. Live chance

2. APOLLON – Has several unplaced runs of late, the latter over 1900m in a Class 2 handicap on August 17th. Others make more sense

3. HIGHBARI – Consistent colt, 3rd last time over 1600m at Vichy in a Class 3 race on August 14th. Hard to rule out

4. IT’S ALL A DREAM – Has five unplaced runs since a win over 1600m at Pau on January 12th on the PSF. Can be avoided

5. INCRACKABLE – Won last time over 1800m at Saint-Malo in a Class 3 race on July 15th. Ought to be in the shake-up

6. INKIOSTRO – Four unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 1900m at Chantilly on July 24th in a Class 3 race. Unlikely to threaten

7. LEANDRA – Ran well to be 3rd at Saint-Malo over 1800m in a Class 3 race on July 15th. Merits consideration

Summary: TIGRR (1) has been supplemented for this race and has a decent chance of scoring again after some honest performances, he won twice in May and has run well since. HIGHBARI (3) is also a consistent performer who can run another solid race. INCRACKABLE (5) will be in a good frame of mind after a win at Saint-Malo recently and is not to be ignored. LEANDRA (7) looks best of the rest.

SELECTIONS
TIGRR (1) – HIGHBARI (3) – INCRACKABLE (5) – LEANDRA (7)

1. NASSANDRES – Two unplaced runs of late, the latter over 2200m in a Class 2 handicap on July 23rd. Others preferred

2. RIKA DE LA VIS – Nice 3rd last time over 2200m in a Class 2 handicap at Dieppe on July 23rd. Can be involved at nice odds

3. SALT FLAKE – Won two runs ago over 2500m at Aix-Les-Bains in a Class 3 race on June 27th. Can place at big odds

4. LORNE – 4th last time, won before that over 2000m at Saint-Cloud on June 17th in a Class 2 handicap. Hard to dismiss

5. KATHINA – 3rd last time over 3100m at Corlay in a Class 4 race on July 14th. Makes limited appeal

6. SNUGGLES – Has five unplaced runs since a win at Chantilly on April 4th in a Class 2 handicap. Needs to get back on track

7. TRES ROCK WOMEN – Two 2nd placed runs of late, the latter over 2400m at Compiegne on July 9th in a Class 2 handicap. One to keep safe

8. PINGO – Two unplaced runs of late, 4th before that over 1850m in a Class 2 handicap on May 30th. Hardly inspiring

9. TARAJAL – Hs five unplaced runs this year, the latter over 2200m in a Class 2 handicap at Dieppe on July 23rd. Unlikely

10. COSTA EDITA – Good form, 2nd last time and two wins before that. The latest win was over 3000m at Strasbourg on April 22nd in a Class 4 race. Hard to ignore

11. MORISOT – 3rd last time, won before that over 2400m at Parislongchamp on May 16th in a Class 3 handicap. Others rate higher

12. RUE DE L’AUDE – Nice 5th on the return run over 1800m at Saint-Malo in a Class 3 race on July 15th. Leading chance

13. LA DIVA D’ALBEN – 4th last time, won before that over 2100m at Saint-Cloud in a Class 3 race on May 6th. Ought to be thereabouts

14. HANDHY – 3rd last time over 2000m at Vichy in a Class 3 race on July 20th. One to pay attention too

15. KAWARETH – Won at Chateaubriant over 1950m in a Class 4 event on July 16th. Will have a say in proceedings

16. INDIAN SUNSET – Won her last two races, the latter a Class 4 handicap at Vichy on July 31st. Might be handicappers grip

Summary: RUE DE L’AUDE (12) will strip fitter for a pleasing fifth on her return to action last month. She has a low weight and is given the vote ahead of RIKA DE LA VIS (2) who ran a solid race when third in a decent handicap at Dieppe in late July. She can be involved at nice odds. COSTA EDITA (10) looks one for each way backers to take seriously. TRES ROCK WOMEN (7) has been knocking at the door with two second-placed runs recently and should not be ignored.

SELECTIONS
RUE DE L’AUDE (12) – RIKA DE LA VIS (2) – COSTA EDITA (10) – TRES ROCK WOMEN (7)
C4 – PRIX D’ORNANO-VALENTI (PRIX VOIX DU NORD) – 2200m (a1m1/2) – TURF – Class 3 Race – Flat – EUR € 20,000

1. WINDERMERE – Unplaced last time, won before that over 2100m at Strasbourg on July 8th in a handicap. Others rate higher

2. ALTHURAYA – Three unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 2200m at Dieppe on May 29th in a Class 3 race. Needs a few to falter

3. YES BOY – Won on his third run at Castera-Verduza over 2400m last time in a Class 3 race on July 14th. Has claims to make the frame

4. FREEZE – Won last time over 2100m at Vittel on August 2nd in a Class 3 race. Looks progressive and can feature

5. SHIRBAWI – Unplaced last time, 2nd before that over 1950m at Chateaubriant on July 16th in a maiden

6. MONTEBELYO – Fair 5th in a maiden at this track last time over 1800m on July 31st in a maiden race. Can be involved

7. ZARAKIVA – Has five unplaced runs since a pleasing debut 2nd at Saint-Cloud over 2000m on March 21st. Needs to recapture that form

8. RAISON GARDEE – Won last time at Josselin over 2600m in a Class 3 race on August 11th. Good each way option

9. BANSHIE – 3rd on the last two runs, the latter in a handicap at Vichy over 2000m in a handicap on August 7th. Player

10. MON IDOLE – Fluffed her lines last time, 4th before that at Evreaux in a maiden on May 22nd. Ought to be in the shake-up

Summary: SHIRBAWI (5) was a tad below par last time but ran a good race when second at Chateaubriant before that over 1950m in July, that form is good enough to score in this. MONTEBELYO (6) looks like the main danger, he ran well when fifth in a maiden at this track last time at the end of July and should like this extra distance. BANSHIE (9) and MON IDOLE (10) can fight it out for minor honours.

SELECTIONS
SHIRBAWI (5) – MONTEBELYO (6) – BANSHIE (9) – MON IDOLE (10)
C5 – PRIX DU GD JURY DU FEST. DU CINE. AMERICAIN DE DEAUVILLE (PRIX RAMSIN) – 2900m (a2m) – TURF – Class 2 Race – Flat – EUR € 28,000

1. KING ZARAK – Unplaced last time, won before that over 2400m in a claimer at Salon Provence on June 25th. Can be on the premises

2. LE NOTRE – Won on his sole run over 2350m at Machecoul on February 25th. This will be harder for him after an absence although he can make the frame

3. DSCHINGIS PUNK – Five unplaced runs so far, the most recent over 2000m at Deauville on August 13th in a maiden race. Opposable

4. SAINT BACO – Newcomer by Cokoriko, the dam never ran. From a stable that can ready a debutante. Monitor the betting for clues

5. MAHOMES – Unplaced on all three runs so far, the latter over 2800m at Compiegne on July 9th. Might find this difficult

6. LE LAVANDOU – Won last time on his second run-over 2900m at Senonnes in a maiden on August 3rd. Can keep improving and looks like the one to beat

7. WASABI – Placed on her last three runs, all in Class 2 races, with the latest when 3rd at Dieppe over 2400m on July 23rd. Hard to ignore

Summary: LE LAVANDOU (6) was only a narrow winner at Senonnes earlier this month but he looks like an improving colt who is capable of following up. WASABI (7) will do her best to overturn the likely favourite. She has been placed in Class 2 races on her latest three runs after a win on debut and can make things difficult. KING ZARAK (1) won a claimer two starts ago and can make the frame. SAINT BACO (4) has a nice profile and warrants respect on his debut.

SELECTIONS
LE LAVANDOU (6) – WASABI (7) – KING ZARAK (1) – SAINT BACO (4)
C6 – PRIX DE LA FOND. LOUIS ROEDERER DE LA REVELATION (PRIX DES COLCHIQUES) – 1800m (a1m1/8) – TURF – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 23,000

1. GOWAY – Unplaced on the last two runs, 3rd before that in a Class 1 race on February 17th at Cagnes-Sur-Mer over 2150m. One to keep safe

2. ZVALIKOVA – Unplaced in a Listed race last time, won at Bordeaux Le Bouscat in a Class 2 race on April 22nd and should be too smart on the drop in class

3. LOVERS DAY – Four unplaced runs since a win over 2000m in a Class 1 race at Marseille Borely on March 20th. Down in grade and can make the frame

4. PARIOLO – 4th last time over 2400m at Dieppe in a claimer on May 29th. Might find a few of these too smart

5. COMTE NOIR – Unplaced last time, 2nd before that over 2000m at Mulheim (DEU) on July 14th. Can be overlooked

6. PURPLE MOOD – Three unplaced runs recently, 2nd before that over 2000m at Saint-Cloud on March 7th in a Class 2 race. Merits consideration

7. TREIZIEME – Fair 3rd last time in a claimer at Deauville on August 10th over 1300m on the PSF. Player

8. GOLD NUGGET – Three unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that on his debut at Dieppe over 1800m on May 13th. Makes limited appeal

9. HOLLY PHELIE – 3rd last time at Vichy in a claimer over 1600m on August 14th. Hard to recommend

10. ALCALA – Unplaced last time, 3rd before that over 1950m at Chateaubriant on July 16th in a maiden race. Each way option

Summary: ZVALIKOVA (2) won three starts ago in a Class 2 race in April at Bordeaux Le Bouscat and has faired credibly in better races since that win. She can score on her first run in a claimer. TREIZIEME (7) can give the selection plenty to think about. He was third last time on the PSF but is effective on the turf. LOVERS DAY (3) won a Class 1 race in late March and if in that sort of form he can be involved at the business end. GOWAY (1) makes up the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
ZVALIKOVA (2) – TREIZIEME (7) – LOVERS DAY (3) – GOWAY (1)
C7 – PRIX DE LA COMPETITION (PRIX DE CLOTURE) – 1800m (a1m1/8) – TURF – Class 4 Handicap – Flat – EUR € 18,000

2. KOULIKOFF – 4th last time over 1800m at this track behind MEARAS STYLE (13) on August 12th in a Class 3 handicap. Has place claims

3. SAN TEODORICO – Unplaced last time, 3rd before that over 1650m in a Class 4 race on April 28th. Hard to recommend

4. PIANTARELLA – Two unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 2400m at Granville on July 15th in a Class 4 race. Looks vulnerable

5. MAKENO – Unplaced last time, 3rd before that over 2000m at Strasbourg on July 8th in a Class 4 handicap. One to consider

6. TAYBET – Has several unplaced runs recently, the latter over 1900m in a Class 4 handicap on August 15th at Deauville. Unlikely to feature

7. ASLAN SENORA – Nice 4th over track and trip last time in a Class 3 handicap on June 28th. Ought to play a lead role

8. LOVE AFFAIR – Decent 2nd at this track over 1600m in a Class 3 handicap on July 31st when last racing. Ought to be thereabouts

9. DANSEUSE CELEBRE – Has four unplaced runs of late, 3rd before that over 2100m at Parislongchamp in a Class 3 handicap on May 5th. Capable of being a threat

10. KICK BOXING – Four unplaced runs since a 2nd placed run in a Class 4 handicap at Parislongchamp on May 9th over 1600m. Needs to recapture that form

11. L’AIR DU TEMPS – Has several unplaced runs recently, the latter over 1800m in a Class 4 race on August 11th. Out of form and best watched

12. ZOUBAREVA – Good 2nd last time at Deauville over 1900m in a Class 4 handicap on August 4th. One to pay attention too

13. MEARAS STYLE – Nice win last time over 1800m at this track on August 12th in a Class 3 handicap. Honest filly who is sure to be involved

14. COLE CHOP – Won last time over 2000m at Compiegne on April 16th in a Class 4 handicap. Opposable

15. TRIPTAJIKA – Unplaced last time, 3rd before that over 1800m at this track on August 2nd in a Class 4 handicap. Has work to do

16. WINELATO LAUJAC – Has been out of form with numerous unplaced runs of late, the latter over 2400m at this track on August 9th. Makes no appeal

17. VOLCAN – Has been unplaced several times of late, the latter over 1900m at Deauville on August 10th in a Class 4 handicap. Pass over

18. KHARKIV – Has not won in 33 runs, the latest unplaced run was over this track in a Class 3 handicap on August 12th. Hardly inspiring

Summary: An open handicap, with luck in running essential. ASLAN SENORA (7) has stall 10 and should be able to get a good position early in the race, he ran well when fourth at this track and trip in late June when last appearing. He is taken to edge this from ZOUBAREVA (12) was a good second at Deauville earlier this month and can once again be involved at the finish. LOVE AFFAIR (8) and top-weight JOYCE GALESTE (1) look good options for each way backers to look at.

SELECTIONS

C8 – PRIX DU JURY DE LA REVELATION (PRIX SCHONBRUNN) – 2400m (a1m1/2) – TURF – Class 3 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 27,000

1. HADYA – Unplaced last time, 2nd before that over 2150m in a Class 3 handicap at Parislongchamp on April 25th. Outside place chance

2. ZAHYANA – Two unplaced runs recently,4th before that over 2000m in a Class 3 handicap at Chantilly on June 16th. Hardly inspiring

3. MISURINA – 3rd last time over 2200m in a Class 3 handicap at Dieppe on July 23rd. Ought to be in the shake-up

4. EAU DE COLOGNE – Unplaced last time, won before that at Dusseldorf (DEU) on June 22nd over 2200m. Place chance

5. ZELINA – Unplaced last time, 2nd before that at Dieppe in a Class 3 handicap on July 23rd. Player

6. AHA – Four unplaced runs of late, the latter over 1600m at Deauville on August 6th in a Class 3 handicap. Opposable

7. CRACKLIN’ROSIE – Three unplaced runs since a win over 2100m in a Class 3 handicap at Parislongchamp on May 26th. Looks vulnerable

8. DEVILLA – 4th last time over 2500m at Deauville in a Class 3 handicap on August 1st. Can make the top three

9. KALEONA – Won last time at Saint-Malo on July 24th in a Class 4 handicap over 2500m. In the mix

10. ZARICA – 4th last time over 2400m at Vichy in a Class 4 handicap on August 15th. Consistent and is hard to rule out of the top four

11. JOYEUSE SAGE – Four unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 2000m in a Class 3 handicap at Parislongchamp on May 12th. Makes no appeal

12. MADAME DE SAXE – 4th last time over 2200m in a Class 4 race on July 31st at this track. Needs to be more reliable

Summary: ZELINA (5) ran a reasonable race last time at this track and was a good second at Dieppe before that in late July. She can be competitive and get the verdict over MISURINA (3) who finds it hard to run a bad race, she has been placed on both starts this year and looks like the main threat to the selection. DEVILLA (8) has been placed on all bar one of her four starts this year and looks an each-way must. KALEONA (9) warrants respect and won late last month at Saint-Malo.

SELECTIONS

C9 – PRIX DE CLOTURE DU MEETING ESTIVAL DE CLAIREFONTAINE (PX LIEU MALLET) – 2400m (a1m1/2) – TURF – Class 4 Handicap – Flat – EUR € 18,000

2. ARGYRON – Won last time over 2800m in a Class 4 race at Sille-Le-Guilla on August 10th. Place contender

3. MISS ROAZHON – Decent 3rd last time over 2400m at Vichy in a Class 4 handicap on August 15th. Seeking win number 10

4. PRESCY LIIA – 2nd two runs ago over 2500m in a Class 4 handicap at Deauville on August 8th. Leading chance

5. CHECKPOINT CHARLIE – Two unplaced runs of late, 4th before that at Deauville on July 6th in a Class 4 handicap. Can make the top three

6. ON A SOUFFERT – Has five unplaced runs this year, the latter over 2400m at this track in a Class 3 handicap on August 9th. Looks unlikely to feature

7. SILVER SILK – Fair 2nd last time over 2800m behind ARGYRON (2) in a Class 4 race on August 10th. Has ground to find and others preferred

8. CHARLES LEGEND – Won last time over 2400m at this track in a Class 3 handicap on July 31st. Can not be ignored on this track

9. LE HOULME – Has four unplaced runs since a 4th over 2400m at Lyon Parilly on June 1st in a Class 4 handicap. Hard to recommend

10. WHERE CHOP – Three unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 3100m at Divonne on April 21st in a Class 4 race. Best ignored

11. PENNYWELL – Has shown poor form of late, well beaten over 2400m in a Class 3 handicap last time on August 9th at this track. Looks safely held

Summary: MISS ROAZHON (3) is the tentative selection in a modest handicap. She did run well last time when third at Vichy earlier this month and is capable of being competitive. PRESCY LIIA (4) can blow hot and cold but did run a pleasing race when she was second at Deauville in early July two starts ago. CHARLES LEGEND (8) looks like a good option each way. He likes this track and could be value in the betting market. CHECKPOINT CHARLIE (5) is also worth a mention.

R4 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX DE SAINT-MANDE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class F Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 12,000

1. GAIA DU CHERISAY – Imposed at Amiens before coming 5th of 13 in a 2750m Cabourg amateurs Class G on 23 July. Pitted against a better bunch this time and chances slim

2. GO GARFIELD – Like a horse reborn this season, winning 6, most recently a 2650m Class G at Les Sables-d’Olonne early-August. Unbeaten in last 3 starts in the day’s configuration and will be expected to wrap this up

3. IRVING HEROLD – Showed his form before being sent for a break, finishing 6th of 9, on comeback, in a 2850m Bréhal Class F earlier this month. Reverts to a previous shoeing formula but others still easier to back

4. I LOVE ROSE FLOWER – Disappointing for much of the season, latterly 8th of 12 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E 8 days ago. Appreciates these conditions though and, in this category, will have a lot to offer

5. IDEAL DU MOULIN – Lost his action in a 2750m Class F at Le Pertre last weekend, after having gone close at Abbeville a week earlier. Nicely-placed on the front line and looks a serious proposition

6. ICONE PLANCHETTE – Not the luckiest when sanctioned in a 2150m Enghien amateurs Class F 2 weeks ago. Has nothing to prove at this level though and can get in on the action if she stays in stride

7. HARLEY DU CHERISAY – 5th in a 2150m Enghien amateurs Class F 8 days ago. Starts wide and other options available

8. HATALANTE DE FLO – 7th of 9 in a 2050m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Boasts an excellent amateur record though and should not be written off

9. HARMONIE PICARDE – Drops back to a category she appreciates after finishing 7th of 14 [through bad luck] in a 2700m Class F at La Capelle a month ago. Form is not in question and will not be far off the mark if Jean-Maxime Lesne keeps her out of trouble

10. ICARE DE LA DORETE – Has gone from strength to strength over recent weeks, most recently running 2nd in a 2150m Enghien amateurs Class F 8 days ago. Is confirmed with his amateur and looks competitively well-in

Summary: Enjoying quite the renaissance in 2024, GO GARFIELD (2) may not have been seen at Vincennes for 2.5 years, but he has been excelling lately and, from the 2-spot, will take all the beating. I LOVE ROSE FLOWER (4) is considerably better than recent numbers would suggest, has run 1’11″8 under these conditions, and with application should pose the main danger. In the frame in 2 of 3 starts over course and distance, IDEAL DU MOULIN (5) will have his chances if Benjamin Marie keeps him trotting. Hard to fault in the amateur division, ICARE DE LA DORETE (10) is plainly in excellent shape and, in this small field, the draw should not prove much of a handicap.

C2 – PRIX DE DOLE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000

1. KORALIA DE CROUAY – 4th of 10 finishers in a 2150m Enghien Class D a month ago. Is proven over 2100m here and looks good enough to get her nose in front

2. KALINE JAMINI – Unremarkable 7th of 10 in a 2150m Enghien Class D a month ago. Has never delivered over similar trips and, in spite of a good draw, is unlikely to spring a surprise

3. KAPUCINE ZEN – Serious filly that finished last but one in a 2850m Bréhal Class E, on comeback, 12 days ago. Has never disappointed when barefoot and the draw will only enhance her good prospects

4. KIVA DU LOISIR – Lost her maiden tag [at 17th time of asking] in a 2950m Le Mans Class E late last month. Unlikely to repeat but won so well that day that she will generate interest

5. KHALEESI LA VIE – Won 3 of last 5, most recently with ease in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle on 22 July. Should have no issues with the new conditions and can double up

6. KASSIOPEE WIND – Made short work of a 2725m Cabourg Class E 8 days ago. Is in her category, has previously won over 2150m, and from the front row, can give this a good go

7. KARA DE PIERREPONT – Gave a good account at Lisieux before being sanctioned in a 2150m Enghien Class D a month ago. Is first-time barefoot but others still easier to trust

8. KIA DE GUELLE – 2nd of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class E 3 weeks ago. Has hardly put a foot wrong this season. Has no references over these shorter trips, is forced to start wide, but races barefoot and, on talent alone, can get in on the action

9. KININE DE MONTCEAU – Back under harness after finishing last of 7 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D mid-July. Has previously placed over course and distance but current form does little to inspire confidence

10. KRYSEIS – Won at Cabourg mid-July before faulting early in a 2725m Class E at the same venue on 16 August. Makes just 2nd left-handed start but, on good behaviour, can get a look-in

11. KINOU DAB – Faithful servant making first appearance since trotting 2nd in a Class E over course and distance late-May. Is shod for competition and, despite the draw, will be expected to pick up where she left off

12. KAROLINE CADE – In the frame in 3 before coming 8th of 13 in a 2850m Bréhal Class E 12 days ago. Has never excelled in the day’s configuration and best to wait

13. KEYPTOWN – Sanctioned early in a 2925m Cagnes Class D on 27 July. Reliability not her strong suit and others preferred

Summary: Rejuvenated since starting to race unshod, KHALEESI LA VIE (5) met little opposition last time out, goes barefoot from the 5-spot, and can make her main-course debut a winning one. Benoît Vallette will still want to be wary of KORALIA DE CROUAY (1) who imposed over the inner track earlier in the year, and the less-favourably-drawn KINOU DAB (11) who went close under these conditions before being sent for a spell. KAPUCINE ZEN (3) will have come on for her re-entry run, is ideally-positioned behind the car, and will be dangerous if she can adapt to the shorter trip.

2. LOVI CADENCE – 6th of 7, on re-entry, in a 2875m Enghien harness Class C a fortnight ago. Hind pads fitted for the occasion but can still expect to have few takers

3. LUZ FATALE – Makes first appearance since faulting in Gr.1 Prix d’Essai 2 months ago. Is back to a more reasonable level but still has a lot to do

4. LIBERTINE DJOB – Last of 10, on return to competition, in a 2875m Enghien harness Class A on 27 July. Is confirmed under these conditions when fitted with pads and, if fully fit, can finish in the mix

5. LOTUS ZEN – Opened his monté account at Enghien last month before finishing last of 8 in 2875m harness Gr.3 Prix de Berlin at the same venue 3 weeks ago. Jean-Yann Ricart back onboard and should again figure prominently

6. LE JIBAY – Last of 7 in Gr.1 Prix d’Essai before coming 6th of 10 in a 2875m Enghien harness Class A conditioner late last month. Sports 4 pads this time, with Eric Raffin in the irons, and is unlikely to be far off the mark

7. LE VOYOU D’ALMO – Unraced since faulting in Gr.1 Prix d’Essai over 2700m here 2 months ago. Is confirmed at Gr.2 level [and over 2175m here] when racing shod and can bring the fight to LEARN TO FLY (8)

8. LEARN TO FLY – 2nd in Gr.3 Prix Serpentis on monté debut before coming 6th of 11 in a 2150m Enghien harness Gr.3, in preparation for this, early last month. Mathieu Mottier takes over in the saddle and looks the obvious choice

Summary: Very impressive first time under the saddle, LEARN TO FLY (8) has a lot more to offer in this discipline and is in with a realistic shout of getting off the mark for 2024. Mathieu Mottier will still be keeping a watchful eye on the promising but difficult LE VOYOU D’ALMO (7) who returns to racing shod, and LOTUS ZEN (5) who lost his maiden tag at Enghien just last month.

SELECTIONS
LEARN TO FLY (8) – LE VOYOU D’ALMO (7) – LOTUS ZEN (5) – LE JIBAY (6)
C4 – PRIX DE PROVENCE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 90,000

1. ICONE MADRIK – Quality mare that was sanctioned, when full of running, on re-entry in a 2950m Saint-Malo Gr.3 2.5 weeks ago. Will be race-ready by now and can figure prominently at the business end of affairs

2. JIOSCO DE PHYT’S – Firing on all cylinders since the spring, most recently missing out by little in a 2875m Enghien Gr.3 early last month, and can impose this time

3. HURELLA – 5th in Les Sables-d’Olonne race of reference. Yoann Lebourgeois reining this time but still needs to find more

4. HERAUT D’ARMES – Gr.1 winner at 5, most recently 10th of 12, following a long layoff, in a 2875m Enghien Class B late last month. Stays shod and cannot be considered a priority

5. INSTRUMENTALISTE – Produced a good effort to run 2nd of 10 in a 2000m Class B at Les Sables-d’Olonne 2 weeks ago. Is justifiably well-regarded at home and, with his mind on the game, is unlikely to disappoint

6. HELIOT DE CAHOT – Encouraging 4th, behind INSTRUMENTALISTE (5), in a 2000m Class B at Les Sables-d’Olonne a fortnight ago. Little chance of imposing but is still capable of picking up a slice of the pie

7. HYMNE DU GERS – In cracking form since returning from his break, latterly pipped in a 2875m Enghien Class B a month back. Is difficult to knock when unshod-all-4 and can give JIOSCO DE PHYT’S (2) a run for his money

8. I CAN DREAM – Unraced since coming 3rd of 7 in a 2850m Class A here mid-June. Has other priorities though and can be passed over

9. HONKY TONK BLUES – Steps up in category after coming 4th of 11 in a 2050m Class B at Divonne-les-Bains a fortnight ago. Nicely-engaged here, with Mathieu Mottier reining, but others still preferred

Summary: JIOSCO DE PHYT’S (2) has really come into his own this season, thrives with Eric Raffin, and given his record over 2700m here, the race looks his for the taking. Not once out of the frame when barefoot this season, HYMNE DU GERS (7) steps up in category but has earned the right to race at this level and will be no pushover. INSTRUMENTALISTE (5) made a promising return to the track after a long layoff and can again finish close. The good ICONE MADRIK (1) will have progressed for her return run, appreciates this distance, and is unlikely to disappoint.

C5 – PRIX ALFRED LEFEVRE – 2850m (a2m) – Class A Race – Mounted – EUR € 90,000

1. JELYSON – Has not been seen out since coming last of 7 in a 2175m Gr.2 here last January. Makes just 3rd start for new trainer and is not about to shake things up

2. HALFA – 7th of 10 to EXTREME DESBOIS (4), when being conditioned, in a 2875m Class C across town late last month. Shoes on again and best to hold off

3. GALA D’URFIST – Faulted when preparing for this in a 3100m Granville Class A 3 weeks ago. Competitively-shod for a return to the ridden code and, with application, can make his presence felt

4. EXTREME DESBOIS – Unbeaten in last 3 monté starts, most recently tenacious winner of 2875m Gr.2 Prix de Londres a fortnight ago. Would have preferred a more even surface but in current shape must be regarded a serious contender

5. DUC DU LUPIN – Back under the saddle after finishing last of 10 in a 2150m Enghien claimer 2 weeks ago. Totally off the boil this season and must first re-establish his credentials

6. EQUINOXE JIEL – 10th of 11 behind FOUGUE DU DOLLAR (8) in a 2750m Cabourg Class A last month, on first monté start for 3.5 years, and will need to find significantly more

7. INSHORE – Won 2 in a row following the spring break, latterly 2700m Gr.3 Prix Guillaume de Bellaigue here in late-June, and pulling off the 3-timer is well within his capability

8. FOUGUE DU DOLLAR – Last of 8 in a 2925m Cagnes harness Class A on 5 August, 2.5 weeks after having beaten a number of these at Cabourg. Unlikely to have her day in the sun but can nevertheless play an active role

9. HARLEM DE BUCY – Makes first public appearance under the saddle after finishing 8th of 11 over 2300m at Mons earlier this month. Just hind shoes off this time and will be worth keeping an eye on

10. GALET STED – Drops in category after coming 6th of 9 to EXTREME DESBOIS (4) in 2875m Gr.2 Prix de Londres at Enghien 2 weeks ago. Is back racing barefoot though and will be competitive for a place in the frame this time

11. GO FOR THE GOLD – 5th of 11 in 2875m Gr.3 Prix Jean-Paul Fairand at Enghien early-July. Has ideal conditions for his return to Vincennes and can impose

Summary: GO FOR THE GOLD (11) has won 5 of his last 7 monté races at Vincennes, including over the distance, and is just preferred to the hat-trick-seeking INSHORE (7) who has nothing to prove in this category. EXTREME DESBOIS (4) has never been in better shape and even though never having delivered at Vincennes, he is very easy to like. GALET STED (10) is better than latest numbers would imply and returning to racing barefoot will do his chances no disservice.

C6 – YEARLING CUP 2024 – ARQANA TROT – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 150,000

1. LIBERTINE ECAJEUL – Reassuring 4th of 7 in a 2700m Class B at Grenade-sur-Garonne mid-month, but still has more to find

2. LORD DE LOIRON – Kicked his career off with a hat-trick before finishing 6th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class C 3 weeks ago. Is new to Vincennes and can pick up a cheque if he takes to the new profile

3. LOWENDAL – Disappointing since winning here during the spring, latterly 6th of 7 in a 3000m Class B at Rochefort-sur-Loire on 5 August. Front pads fitted for the occasion but still faces a stiff test

4. LOVE ME DO – Has bags of ability but sanctioned as often as not, most recently in a 2875m Enghien Class B 2 weeks ago. Eric Raffin gets the nod here but still not an obvious choice

5. LA DIVA SUPREME – Game filly that that finished 4th of 8 in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 11 August. Takes on some superior individuals this time and represents no more than minor place prospect

6. L’AS DESBOIS – Last of 7, when being conditioned, in a 3000m Class B at Rochefort-sur-Loire earlier in the month. Not the easiest to trust but has solid course-and-distance credentials, sports 4 pads this time, and can play an active role

7. LE GRAAL – Steps up in category after dominating a 2875m Enghien Class B a fortnight ago. Is plainly a colt for the future and will be expected to compete for a place on the podium

8. LA FEE DU NOYER – By no means disgraced on comeback when 6th of 9 in a Gr.2 over course and distance last weekend. Excels over 2700m here and looks main challenger to LUCIANO MENUET (10)

9. LARGO DE CASTELLE – Ran 2nd in a 2700m Graignes Class B when preparing for this 2 weeks ago. Is confirmed at a superior level, and over course and distance, and will be competitive for a first-3 cheque

10. LUCIANO MENUET – High-class colt that was sanctioned in a Gr.2 over course and distance a week ago, after having won an Enghien Gr.3 a fortnight earlier. By some margin the best horse here and will legitimately garner the lion’s share of support

Summary: Oddly out of sorts in the Gr.2 Prix Abel Bassigny last weekend, LUCIANO MENUET (10) backs up with shoes on and, with application should have this in the bag. LA FEE DU NOYER (8) acquitted herself well on re-entry in a fillies-only Gr.2 here; she will have come on for the race and will be no soft touch. Fitted with 4 pads this time, LE GRAAL (7) is class embodied and capable of confirming his recent Enghien victory. LARGO DE CASTELLE (9) appears to be back on track following a couple of clinkers and a place in the frame is not out of the question.

SELECTIONS

C7 – PRIX D’OBERNAI – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class R Claiming – Harness – EUR € 18,000

1. KALIKA DU RIS – Encouraging 4th of 7 in a 2875m Enghien claimer late last month. Has the inside line here but others still preferred

2. KLIF DU DEZERT – Modest 7th of 9 in a 2800m Langon Class E on 30 July. Sticks to the same configuration and, with Franck Ouvrie reining this time, will have his supporters

3. KRONOS DU GITE – Last of 9, on return to competition, in a 2700m Vittel Class H mid-month. Lost his way earlier in the year and will struggle to make his presence felt

4. KEMBLA – Last but one in a 2150m Enghien Class D late last month. Drops markedly down the class ladder and, from the 4-spot, will have her chances

5. KING GATE – Good 2nd to KETTY DU BREUCQ (12) in a 2800m claimer at Les Sables-d’Olonne 12 days ago. Has a better spot in front this time and looks to have the advantage. Place chance

6. KALINA STAR – Last but one in a 2800m Castéra-Verduzan Class E 12 days ago. 2nd on lone appearance over course and distance and even though competitively-shod, still appears to have too much to do

7. KARA DES BROUSSES – Last of 8 in a 2700m Grenade-sur-Garonne Class B mid-month. Races barefoot this time, is respectable at this level of competition, but no more than that

8. KAKO GASCOGNE – Makes claiming debut after faulting in a 2700m Grenade-sur-Garonne Class B mid-month. Is head-and-shoulders above most here and should have little issue winning a race of this nature

9. KETMIE PRINCESSE – Disappointing since returning from her short break, latterly last of 10 in a 2150m Enghien Class D a month back. Entrusted to Eric Raffin for first time and although not a priority, is still worth monitoring

10. KIYOUNI – Tricky character that faulted in a 2575m Class F at Château-du-Loir on 28 July. Not an obvious choice on paper but hails from a yard in form and, fitted with front pads for first time, must not be underestimated

11. KAOS DE LA COTE – Reassuring 2nd of 8 in a 3450m Agon-Coutainville Class F last weekend, but the draw will do him no favours

12. KETTY DU BREUCQ – Had the measure of KING GATE (5) in a 2800m claimer at Les Sables-d’Olonne 12 days ago. Thrives at this level and, entrusted to Mathieu Mottier for the first time, will be competitive for a place on the podium

13. KRONOS DE TROIS – Showed improvement when 5th of 10 in a 2700m Class F at La Capelle a month ago and, if still on the boil, can get a look-in

14. KUNDERA D’ALOUETTE – Reassuring 3rd of 8 in a 2800m Vichy Class E 3 weeks ago. Handed a tough draw but with Gabi Gelormini at the helm this time must be respected. First 5

15. KIMBERLY DU LOISIR – Sanctioned in 3 of last 4, most recently over 2300m at Mons earlier this month. Yet to bested in the claiming category but has never delivered in the day’s configuration and can be passed over

16. KALINE JULMA – Barring one monté success, has been off the boil this year, most recently faulting in a 2750m Cabourg Class E 11 days ago, and has no realistic chance

17. KISS ME CARNOIS – Looked very ordinary when 7th of 9 finishers in a 2700m Vittel Class H mid-month. Handed a shocking draw and can be ruled out

Summary: KAKO GASCOGNE (8) may not be the most reliable of horses but he takes a big dip in category, placed over course and distance earlier in the year and, despite a wide draw, he is reunited with Anthony Barrier and can bring home the bacon. Better-positioned behind the car, KEMBLA (4) is similarly in search of her best form and at this level should prove a serious player. Unbeaten in 2 claimers to date KETTY DU BREUCQ (12) had the edge over KING GATE (5) recently but the draw will favour Yoann Lebourgeois’s chances.

C8 – PRIX DE MULHOUSE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 41,000

1. JAZZ D’OLIVERIE – Would have finished 4th in a 2875m Enghien Class E 10 days ago had he not faulted. Is clearly in shape though and returning to racing barefoot may be just the ticket

2. JAG ROYAL – Won under these conditions before finishing 7th of 10 in a Class D over course and distance in early-June. Has not been seen out since but Eric Raffin engaged for the occasion and looks a player

3. JACKPOT BOOSTER – Failed to confirm his Cagnes success when 8th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class E a month back, and is unlikely to spring any surprises

4. JOKER DE MARZY – Made it 2 on the trot when successful in a 2650m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne earlier in the month, and with application, can play a leading role

5. JANEIRO TURGOT – Quality element that won a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F with ease a month ago. Races shod this time however and can be passed over

6. JOB DE CHOISEL – Has taken his game to a new level this year, winning a 2500m Class E at La Rochelle 2.5 weeks ago. Should appreciate the Vincennes profile and will have his chances

7. JEU DE MOTS – Pleasant 3rd of 5 in a 2725m Cabourg Class E a fortnight ago. Has never delivered here but has merit and is capable of getting a look-in

8. JACK DU PONT – Honest trotter that finished 5th of 8 in a 2775m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne a fortnight ago, but still looks out of his depth

9. JAGUAR DE LAUMAC – Consistent sort that has returned from his spell in excellent shape, latterly close 2nd of 10 in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle a month ago. Has not once disappointed here and warrants respect

10. JOSHUA PEJI – Won 2 under the saddle before missing out on the hat-trick by a whisker in a 2875m Enghien harness Class E on 17 July, and can win this if Damien Bonne keeps him trotting

11. JINGLE PASS – Fine servant that was by no means disgraced when 5th of 8 in a 2500m Class E at La Rochelle late last month. Already twice a winner this term and, with Mathieu Mottier reining, will be no easy touch

12. JACKPOT DES BORDES – 4th of 11, a place behind JURITI (13), in a 3125m Granville Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Takes on better this time though and chances limited

13. JURITI – 3rd of 11 in a 3125m Granville Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Seldom disappoints when focused, and races barefoot this time, but others still preferred

Summary: It may often be a case of all-or-nothing for the temperamental JOSHUA PEJI (10), but his talent is not in doubt and, given current form, will be a tough nut to crack. JINGLE PASS (11), however, has excellent provincial references and makes his metropolitan debut with a good hand to play. JOKER DE MARZY (4) is another tricky soul, but he comes to Vincennes on a 3-timer and, barefoot for the occasion, will be dangerous. Also a Vincennes debutant, and similarly on a hat-trick, JOB DE CHOISEL (6) thrives with Anthony Barrier and should figure prominently at the reckoning.
