French Selections Friday 27th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX ALEXANDRA – 2850m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000

1. KALIE D’URSIN – Sanctioned when being conditioned in a 2550m Reims monté Class F mid-month, but has other priorities

2. KHAMSA – Clinched success at Cabourg before dominating a 2950m Le Mans Class E on 11 September. Faces a stiffer test here but still looks a decent place prospect

3. KANELLE STAR – Moderate filly that was sanctioned on re-entry mid-August in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E and has nothing to contribute here

4. KARLITA MADRIK – Last of 9 in a 2700m Class D here on 6 September. Has struggled with stride issues this term but will be able to play a part if Laurent-Claude Abrivard keeps her focused

5. KISS ME DU LIVET – Sanctioned in 2 of last 3, most recently a 2450m Caen Class E last Saturday, and in present shape, will have little to offer

6. KALITY LOVE – 6th of 9 finishers in a 2700m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Is better racing clockwise but is plainly in fine condition and should not be overlooked

7. KEEP ON ROLLING – Won at Cabourg late-July before stylishly confirming in a 2750 Class E at the same venue a fortnight later. Comes here fresh and the hat-trick is a realistic objective

8. KWINIE JIHAIME – Unremarkable 8th of 9 in a 2700m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Should be more suited to this more particular trip however, and with Yoann Lebourgeois reining, will be no pushover

9. KELIA DES TOUCHES – Returns to racing left-handed after coming 4th of 12 in a 2550m Reims Class B mid-month. Form is not in question and can get a look-in if she takes to the new conditions

10. KOSMOPOLITAINE – Honest filly that came 5th of 8 in a 2700m Graignes Class B on 2 September. Barefoot this time, with Matthieu Abrivard reining, but still not a priority

11. KLASSIKA DIDALO – Regularly gives her best but will need to improve on her 6th of 13 in a 2750m Cabour Class D late last month

12. KIM DE BEAUM – Sanctioned when never-threatening in a 2700m Class D here 3 weeks ago, and can expect to have few friends

13. KOMEDIE SOMOLLI – Unexceptional since imposing over 2700m here during the spring, latterly last but one in a Class B under similar conditions 8 days ago. Drops in category but still no more than a minor place prospect

14. KALINE DU JOUR – 7th of 8, when being conditioned for this in a 2700m Graignes Class B 3.5 weeks ago. First time with just hind shoes on and, with application, can impose

15. KAPELLA VET – Tenacious winner of a 2050m Cabourg Class D on 23 August. Has done nothing but improve lately and is very easy to like for a place on the podium

Summary: After a well-earned break, the classy KALINE DU JOUR (14) got a race under her belt at Graignes earlier this month and, sporting a new configuration, can get straight down to business. She will still encounter resistance from a progressive KEEP ON ROLLING (7) who returns to Vincennes on a hat-trick, and KHAMSA (2) who debuts at the venue, also on a 3-timer. Nicely-engaged at the limit of earnings, and clearly back at her best, KAPELLA VET (15) warrants significant respect.

SELECTIONS
KALINE DU JOUR (14) – KEEP ON ROLLING (7) – KHAMSA (2) – KAPELLA VET (15)
C2 – PRIX ELLA – 2850m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 46,000

1. JOKER BODENSEE – Lost his action, when unthreatening, in a 2200m Caen Class E 2.5 weeks ago, and can be confidently ruled out

2. JEAN D’HOLLENBOURG – Never easy to handle but would have finished closer in a 2650m Class F at Les sables 3 weeks ago had he not faulted. Has previously won for Yoann Lebourgeois and deserves to be taken seriously

3. JOKER DES LANDES – Takes on some better types after running 3rd of 12 in a 2775m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne late last month. Is plainly in form and can play a small role if he takes to the new profile

4. JARDIN DU ROI – In the frame in last 2, most recently a 2800m Rambouillet Class F mid-month. Starts on front line and, in current form, is unlikely to go home empty-handed

5. JOYAU DARLING – 5th of 8 in a 2400m Amiens Class E 3 weeks ago. Has not won for 15 months and, even with shoes off, is not about to buck the trend

6. JAZZ MARTINEZ – Back under harness after winning a 2700m Graignes monté Class F a month ago. Faces a stiffer test this time though and others preferred

7. JOKER DE LA CRIERE – Sanctioned early, when favourite, in a 2850m Laval Class E mid-month. Shod as he was on penultimate start but still no more than a minor place chance

8. JOYAUX DE REUX – Should not be hastily-judged for coming 11th of 13 in a Class E over course and distance last Sunday. Gets another shot at it and, from the first row, could well add a Vincennes score to his tally

9. JUPITER DU CORTA – Produced an excellent effort, despite faulting, to come 4th of 15 in a Class D over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Incurs the penalty but excels at Vincennes and can make this his own

10. JETPACK – Missed the break and was subsequently sanctioned in a 2700m Class C here a week ago. Has bags of ability though and, with application, will be expected to finish close

11. JACK L’EVENTREUR – Last of 8, on re-entry, in a 2100m Class D here a month ago. Reverts to a previous formula but would have better prospects a level down

12. JERZINHO SPORT – 7th of 9 finishers, when preparing for this, in a a 3000m Châteaubriant Class D earlier in the month. Has never disappointed at Vincennes and looks an obvious contender for the podium

Summary: JUPITER DU CORTA (9) put in a superb finish in a Class D under these conditions last time out; he will be fully-fit by now and, even from the second line, looks the one to beat. Benjamin Rochard will be justifiably wary of the nicely-engaged JERZINHO SPORT (12) who has never disappointed at Vincennes, and a first-time barefoot JOYAUX DE REUX (8) who, with a 25m head-start, looks a serious consideration. JETPACK (10) is shod to preference this time and will have his chances if Franck Nivard assures his initial strides.

SELECTIONS
JUPITER DU CORTA (9) – JERZINHO SPORT (12) – JOYAUX DE REUX (8) – JETPACK (10)
C3 – PRIX HIP’POKER TOUR (PRIX MASSALIA) – 2850m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 41,000

1. JOUEUSE MAJYC – Showed improvement when 6th of 11 in a 2825m Chartres Class F 2 weeks ago but not enough to be considered a priority

2. DOROTY DEL SAURO – Talented Italian raider but sanctioned in 6 of last 7, latterly over 2080 in Modena 2 months ago. Sports new configuration for Vincennes debut but others still easier to trust

3. JOSEPHA MESLOISE – Reliability not her strong suit but won a 2800m Rambouillet Class F mid-month. Steps up in category but is confirmed on the main track and, on good behaviour, can finish in the mix

4. JILIKA DU MESLE – Decent 7th of 11 behind JACINTHE DES ULMES (12) in a 2700m Class E here 2.5 weeks ago. Races barefoot this time and, with form maintained, will not be far off the mark

5. DRUJBA – Handy Italian mare that came 4th, a place behind JACINTHE DES ULMES (12), in race of reference. Shoes back on though and others preferred this time

6. DONNER AMOUR – Made it 3 straight sanctions after faulting early in 10 September race of reference. Has ability though, sports modified shoeing, and is capable of getting a look-in if Franck Nivard gets her off on the right foot

7. JALISCA FLIGNY – Reassured at Enghien before faulting in a 3100m Nort-sur-Erdre Class F mid-month. Pleased on lone start over main track but recent numbers do little to inspire confidence

8. JULIA DE MARZY – Sanctioned on first start since the spell, in a 2700m Class E here on 30 August. Will have come on for the run and, first-time barefoot, can open her autumn account

9. JAVA DU MONCEL – Looked very ordinary when 8th of 11 in race of reference and will again have nothing to contribute

10. JOSY DES LANDES – 10th of 12 in a 2550m Dieppe Class E on 2 September. Is not without ability but looks to have too much to do

11. JALAYA DES BROUETS – Last of 7 in a a 2700m Class E here late last month which will quite simply not cut the mustard

12. JACINTHE DES ULMES – 3rd of 11 finishers in a 2700m Class E here 2.5 weeks ago. Enjoying something of a renaissance since starting to race barefoot and looks a major player

13. JONQUILLETE CREPIN – Won 4 of last 5 races she finished, most recently a 2525m Class F at Les Andelys mid-month, and can play a leading role is she stays in stride

14. JIMBA BERRY – 5th to JACINTHE DES ULMES (12) in a 2700m Class E here 2.5 weeks ago. Has already won 4 times right-handed this term and with a top pilot in the wagon, will be afforded every chance

Summary: A complicated mare she may be, and yet to deliver at Vincennes, but JULIA DE MARZY (8) is clearly capable, and racing barefoot for the first time may be just the ticket to her metropolitan breakthrough. That said, there will be no hiding from an on-form JACINTHE DES ULMES (12) who beat a number of these here recently, and the capricious but talented JONQUILLETE CREPIN (13) who steps back up in category with a good hand to play, if applied. 5th to David Thomain’s horse earlier in the month, JIMBA BERRY (14) races left-handed for just the second time but the engagement of Benjamin Rochard will do her prospects no disservice.

SELECTIONS
JULIA DE MARZY (8) – JACINTHE DES ULMES (12) – JONQUILLETE CREPIN (13) – JIMBA BERRY (14)
C4 – PRIX AUSTRIA – 2850m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000

1. FERVENTE – 4th of 13 in Enghien race of reference before finishing last of 11 in a 2500m Reims Class E freshener mid-month. Shoes off this time and, although never having won here, she nevertheless warrants a certain support

2. FERIA DE LIGNY – Not without merit but below-par lately, latterly sanctioned when never-threatening in a monté Class D over course and distance 8 days ago, and chances limited

3. FULL CASH DE PADD – Beat a host of these at Enghien mid-August before coming 2nd of 13 in a 3575m Niort Class E 12 days ago and, barefoot again, looks a serious proposition

4. FERGIE HIGHLAND – Form has regressed since imposing at Le Mans 2 months ago, most recently sanctioned in a 3575m Niort Class E mid-month, and must get her house inn order

5. FIRST LADY BLEUE – Reassuring 6th of 13 in a 2550m Dieppe Class E 9 days ago but has not done enough to be considered a player

6. FISH DE HOUELLE – 11th of 14 in a 2650m Laval Class D conditioner a month back. Benjamin Rochard reining this time and should be good enough to finish thereabouts

7. FICIMER – 10th of 12 in a 2300m Borély Class D on 11 September. Simply excels when barefoot and focused and is not incapable of returning home with a 6th success of the season under his belt

8. DANTE TURGOT – Started to come good in July but has since flopped twice, latterly last but one in a 2775m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne late last month and, even racing barefoot, can be passed over

9. FILOU DE L’ELLE – Out of the picture in last 2 starts, latterly 9th of 14 in a 3100m Class E at Nort-sur-Erdre mid-month. Is proven over track and trip and will generate interest

10. EL PARDO – 5th of 10 in a 2600m Cavaillon Class C a week ago. Beat FULL CASH DE PADD (3) under these conditions during the spring, but still represents no more than a minor place prospect

11. FAN DE PHYT’S – 8th of 9, on return to competition, in a 2750m Ecommoy Class E last Sunday. Has previously won at Vincennes in the day’s configuration and can play a small part

12. FELINE DE MIRANDA – 6th of 9 in a Class D over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Consistently gives her best and looks a respectable first-5 chance

13. FAUCON DE L’ALBA – Last of 13 when prepping for this in a 2100m Class D here a fortnight ago. Has yet to excel over the main track here but in current form is very hard to ignore

14. FARCEUR DE MAI – 6th of 9 in a 2750m Ecommoy Class E last Sunday. Hind shoes off but still has no realistic chance

15. ELEVEN SHAPTER – Last of 9 when being prepared for this in a 2675m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel earlier this month. Simply thrives with Yoann Lebourgeois and, if focused, can open his 2024 account

16. ECLAT DE REP – Last but one in a 3100m Niort Class E mid-month. Has been out of sorts all season and is not about to break the mould

Summary: Dependability is certainly not his strong suit but ELEVEN SHAPTER (15) has shown more than once this term that he is competitive both in this category and when barefoot, and already 5 times a winner for his driver, can return to winning ways. A barefoot FICIMER (7) is never easy to contend with and he returns to Vincennes with the entire confidence of his handler. Proven over 2850m on the main track, FULL CASH DE PADD (3) is close to his race and returns to racing barefoot with a realistic chance of getting his nose in front. FAUCON DE L’ALBA (13) has been showing his form across town and, barefoot this time, will have his chances.

SELECTIONS
ELEVEN SHAPTER (15) – FICIMER (7) – FULL CASH DE PADD (3) – FAUCON DE L’ALBA (13)
C5 – GRAND PRIX DE L’U.E.T. (GR A) – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class A Race – Harness – EUR € 60,000

1. KAMEHAMEHA – Has no shortage of talent but has struggled since returning to competition, most recently sanctioned in a 2825m Chartres Class B on first start for new trainer, and will need to show marked improvement

2. KEY OF LOVE – An absolute write-off all year, latterly sanctioned in a Class D over course and distance a fortnight ago, and can be confidently disregarded

3. NOVATO – Remarkably-consistent Dutch raider making Vincennes debut after running 2nd over 2100m at Wolvega late-August. Gabi Gelormini reining and will be afforded every chance

4. KAPORAL DES FORGES – Sanctioned in Gr.1 Critérium des 4 ans over 2850m here mid-month after having placed in a Vincennes Gr.2 a fortnight earlier. Boasts a good record with Eric Raffin but would be preferred over longer. First 5

5. KARMA QUICK – Produced some fine efforts at Enghien before faulting, after having missed the break, in a 2575m Reims Class B mid-month, but still has the class to finish in the money

6. KING OPERA – Left quite the impression, although sanctioned, in Gr.1 Critérium des 4 ans here a fortnight ago. Unlikely to scare the favourite but, with application, can occupy the 2nd step on the podium

7. KOCTEL DU DAIN – Highly-impressive 2nd in Gr.1 Critérium des 4 ans over 2850m here mid-month. By some margin the best horse here and should be able to wrap this up in short order

8. EAST ASIA – Returns to Paris on a hat-trick, most recently flying up over 2200m at Follonica late last month, and can figure prominently if she keeps trotting

9. KAISER RIVER – Showed improvement when 3rd of 7 in a 2700m Class D at La Capelle on 4 September but in this company will struggle to make his mark

Summary: Justifiably the wealthiest horse in the field, KOCTEL DU DAIN (7) has form at the highest level and is going to take some beating. KING OPERA (6), despite being sanctioned, put in a remarkable finish behind Philippe Allaire’s colt in the Gr.1 Critérium des 4 Ans and, if focused, should represent the principal threat. The Italian-trained EAST ASIA (8) has yet to deliver in Paris but returns to Vincennes after winning 3 quality races at home and must be treated with respect. KARMA QUICK (5) is confirmed both over a similar distance and on the main track and, with application, could set the cat among the pigeons.

SELECTIONS
KOCTEL DU DAIN (7) – KING OPERA (6) – EAST ASIA (8) – KARMA QUICK (5)
C6 – GRAND PRIX DE L’U.E.T. (GR B) – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class A Race – Harness – EUR € 60,000

1. EXECUTIV EK – Classy group-winning colt that has previously imposed at this level here. Returns to Vincennes after winning a competitive affair over 2200m at Follonica and, while not a priority, must still be respected

2. KARBONE CASH – A model of consistency all season, latterly 3rd of 9 in a 2700m Class B here mid-month, but the step up in category looks a step too far

3. KAVIARISSIME – Less effective of late, most recently 12th of 18 in Critérium des 4 Ans a fortnight ago. Races with pads this time but still has the wherewithal to make first 5

4. KALATTINE – Unbeaten Swiss raider making Vincennes debut after winning 21 on the trot. Sports pads for first time and in spite of the step up in category, still looks a player

5. KRACK TIME ATOUT – High-class colt whose 8th of 18 in 2850m Gr.1 Critérium des 4 Ans here a fortnight ago belies his true ability. Has nothing to prove under these conditions and is the logical choice

6. KRISTAL JOSSELYN – Won a 2175m Gr.2 here before trotting a respectable 9th of 18, a place behind KRACK TIME ATOUT (5), in 2850m Gr.1 Critérium des 4 Ans a fortnight ago, and must be considered a decent place chance

7. KNOCKONWOOD – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2700m Gr.2 here late last month. Has solid references at this level however and the distance should suit him to a tee. Podium prospect

8. KIARA DE VANDEL – Disappointing 9th of 13 in a 2700m Gr.2 here late-August. Alexandre in the bike this time but others still preferred

Summary: 8th of 18 in the Gr.1 Critérium des 4 Ans recently, KRACK TIME ATOUT (5) raced better that day than the result would suggest and, bearing in mind he is a Gr.1 course-and-distance winner, the race is his for the taking. The principal danger should logically come from the complicated KNOCKONWOOD (7) who nevertheless showed this summer at Enghien that he is up to the task in this category. A place behind the ‘Krack’ in the Critérium after having won the Gr.2 Prix Phaeton, KRISTAL JOSSELYN (6) is less-performant in these shorter mobile-start races but his class can compensate.

SELECTIONS
KRACK TIME ATOUT (5) – KNOCKONWOOD (7) – KRISTAL JOSSELYN (6) – KALATTINE (4)
C7 – PRIX GAURICUS – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class B Race – Mounted – EUR € 60,000

1. JADE – Not disgraced at Enghien before trotting 2nd of 15 in a 2850m Mauquenchy harness Class E a fortnight ago and, if form transitions, can pick up a cheque on monté debut

2. JOLLY ROGER – Reassuring 3rd of 7 in a 3000m Borély Class G late-August. Steps up in category but is first-time barefoot and can make his mark in this diminutive field

3. JOKER DU HAMEL – Returns to racing unshod-behind after coming 5th, a place behind JET MESLOIS (5), in a 2700m Class C here mid-month, but a repeat performance seems highly unlikely

4. JUST BIRD – 6th of 9 in a Class C over course and distance late last month. Is confirmed at this level though and can finish in the frame this time

5. JET MESLOIS – Steps up in category after coming 4th of 9 in a 2700m Class C here mid-month. Is plainly at the top of his game and, even though sanctioned on both starts with Eric Raffin, they are nonetheless reunited and will be no easy touch

6. INFIEL – Made it 2 straight sanctions after faulting in a 2150m Enghien harness Class E a fortnight ago. Has never shown any exceptional aptitude for the code and is not about to start now

7. JANZIBAR – 9th of 12, on return from a break, in a 2750m Ecommoy harness Class B earlier this month. Competitively-shod this time and looks the pick of the field

Summary: Sent for a well-deserved rest after winning with authority here last June, JANZIBAR (7) enjoys an excellent entry and after an Ecommoy freshener, faces his first objective of the autumn, shod to preference and with every chance of picking up where he left off. Alexandre Abrivard will still be keeping a keen eye on the improving JET MESLOIS (5) who has won 2 of his last 3. JUST BIRD (4) has not yet reached the form he showed earlier in the year but comes here fresh and can trot his way onto the podium.

SELECTIONS
JANZIBAR (7) – JET MESLOIS (5) – JUST BIRD (4) – JOLLY ROGER (2)
C8 – PRIX MAGDALENA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 52,000

1. LEIA PRINCESS – 2nd of 7 finishers in a 2175m monté Class D here 2.5 weeks ago. Boasts solid harness references but others preferred this time

2. L’HAVANA D’ELMA – Won a Class D under these conditions, at 84/1, late-August before being sanctioned when very unlucky in a 2100m Class C here last week. Unlikely to cause an upset but can still eke out some prizemoney

3. LADY PRINCESS – Ran 6th at Enghien before clinching a 2750m Class B at La Capelle earlier in the month. In more elevated company this time but will still be competitive for a first-5 spot

4. LA LAGOSTERIA – Makes first start since winning a 2850m monté Class C here in early-June. Running for reasons of conditioning and can be ruled out

5. LOVELY DU VALLON – 3rd of 11 in a 2850m Class C over the short course here 3.5 weeks ago. Has a lot of untapped potential and is not about to disappoint

6. LAMATTA – 6th of 11, behind LOVELY DU VALLON (5), in a 2850m Class C over the short course here earlier this month. Was denied a run that day and can make amends if Andréa Roussel keeps her out of trouble

7. LA VIE EST BELLE – Would have finished 5th of 11, behind LOVELY DU VALLON (5), in a 2850m Class C over the short course here earlier this month had she not suffered interference. Unlikely to surprise but can play a small role

8. LOVELY CHENEVIERE – Makes first appearance since coming 2nd of 8 in a monté Class B over course and distance in June. Has other priorities and can be passed over

9. LUNABELLA D’OMAHA – Has not been seen out since finishing 5th of 6, on comeback, in a 2625m Class B at La Rochelle late-July. Has been given time to freshen up, has previously won under these conditions, and is thoroughly capable of repeating

10. LITTLE CROWN – Consistently in the thick of things all summer before faulting early in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 11 August. Put in a time of  1’08”4 for the final 500m that day and, with application, will be no easy touch

11. LOUISIANE KAT – Did not enjoy the best of trips and was sanctioned in a 2875m Enghien Class B early-August. Has had time to recalibrate though and, given the chance, can impose

12. LOTTA LOVE – Has hardly put a foot wrong all season, latterly 4th of 8 in a 2950m Vichy Class C 3 weeks ago, but would be preferred racing clockwise

Summary: Although still somewhat green, LOUISIANE KAT (11) has displayed considerable ability, enjoys a good entry, and with application could well open her main-track account. It is not going to be all plain sailing though if the progressive LUNABELLA D’OMAHA (9) is fully-fit. Unlucky at Enghien last month, LITTLE CROWN (10) has nevertheless been knocking at the door and returns to Vincennes with a good hand to play. After pleasing on the inner course, LOVELY DU VALLON (5) should be ready for her main-track debut and is unlikely to disappoint.

SELECTIONS
LOUISIANE KAT (11) – LUNABELLA D’OMAHA (9) – LITTLE CROWN (10) – LOVELY DU VALLON (5)
C9 – PRIX BYBLIS – 2200m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Mounted – EUR € 40,000

1. LOREL DE L’ORMERIE – Qualified nicely in July but failed to deliver on debut when sanctioned in a 2625m Saint-Omer harness Class F a month ago. Has been entrusted to Benjamin Rochard for monté debut however and will be afforded every chance

2. LUMUMBA CAPELLO – Disappointing at Vincennes before disappointing again at Les Sables-d’Olonne last week, coming 7th of 9 in a 2775m Class F, and can be confidently passed over

3. LOTUS DES CHAMPS – Decent 3rd of 10 finishers in a 2750m Cabourg Class E a month ago, but would be preferred racing right-handed

4. LEONARDO DE LOU – Debuts under the saddle, with Alexandre Abrivard in the irons, after faulting early in a 2850m Laval harness Class E mid-month, and is in with a shout of getting straight down to business

5. LOEK DE REUX – Convincing winner of a 2825m harness Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche earlier in the month. Damien Bonne on board for monté bow and will be no shrinking violet

6. LITTLEBOY DE PLANY – Never far from faulting but reassured with an impressive 2850m Class F Laon success 3 months ago. Will have been prepared for this though and is unlikely to let the side down if Antonin André manages to keep him trotting

7. LEON DE LA COURBE – Went close at Laval before trotting 3rd of 8, at 88/1, in a 2700m Class C here earlier in the month, but a repeat seems improbable

8. LEONARD DU CLOS – 5th of 8, behind LEON DE LA COURBE (7), in a 2700m Class C here earlier this month. Will appreciate the less-exacting course and has a reasonable chance of picking up a cheque

9. LAMKELZE DE NIEL – 7th of 10 in a 2750m harness Class B at La Capelle on 4 September, and debuts in the monté code with limited aspiration

10. LIBERO DU DONJON – Is confirmed under these conditions and plainly has potentia,l but sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2175m Class D here 2.5 weeks ago, and others easier to trust

11. LE PRIEURE – Unbeaten in both monté starts to date, latterly winning a 2450m Caen Class E, with consummate ease, 9 days ago. Is confirmed racing left-handed and is thoroughly capable of wrapping this up

12. L’APPASSIONATO – Flattering 4th of 5 in a 2175m Class D here 2.5 weeks ago. Has evident ability but faces a tougher task this time around

Summary: Like a completely different horse since switching codes, LE PRIEURE (11) led the opposition a merry dance last time out and has every chance of keeping his unbeaten monté status intact. Sanctioned more often than not, LITTLEBOY DE PLANY (6) nevertheless got off the mark before his break and, if fit and focused, can lead the opposition charge. Although sanctioned at Laval, LEONARDO DE LOU (4) has hardly stepped a foot out of line and makes his monté debut with legitimate ambition. LOEK DE REUX (5) similarly takes to the discipline for the first time and will be no easy touch if he adapts to Vincennes conditions.

SELECTIONS

C1 – PRIX CASSARD – 2275m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 23,000

1. LUNE SMILE – Has disqualification issues but was runner-up last time out in Class E at Nort-sur-Erdre over 2400m on 15 September. Could earn some minor money if smart

2. LANA DE BEAUMEE – Yet to win a race and was 6th last time out in Class E at Vincennes over 2100m on 6 September. Needs to find a few lengths to win

3. LODESTAR – Has disqualification issues but was not disgraced when 5th last time out in Class E at Laval over 2850m on 16 September. Has a place chance if wise

4. LAYANA DE HOUELLE – Did not show her best when 6th last time out in Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel over 2675m on 8 September. Capable of better and could play a minor role

5. LA FALINE – Consistent so far and was runner-up last time out in Class E at Chartres over 2800m on 13 September. Can contest the finish again

6. LA JOCONDE – Did not show her best when 7th last time out in Class E at Niort over 2475m on 15 September. Needs to do more to win this race

Summary: Despite the layoff UN INSTANT (1) should be ready for this return run and be too smart for his rivals. He was a decent third in a Listed race when last seen at Chantilly in March. SUNNY ANGEL (8) is a threat and was a pleasing third in a competitive Class 2 race earlier this month at Le Lion D’Angers. Stablemate KARNAC WOOD (8) is at the top of his game, having won 3 of his last 4 starts, and will pose a threat in his hat-trick bid. KENTUCKY WOOD (9), lighter in his shoeing for this commitment, and barefoot KOUBA BLUE (5) have legitimate podium chances.
