C1 – PRIX ZOSMA – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 53,000 |
1. HEARTBEAT THUNDER – Makes French debut after running 3rd of 12 over 2140m at Hagmyren on 22 September. Forced to start on the rail but has considerable class and must not be underestimated
2. JINGLE LOVER – Pleased at Enghien before finishing 8th of 11, behind JOKER DES CHALIERS (8), in a 2700m Class C here on 20 September, and will need to raise his game
3. JACKMAN – Tough trotter that ran 9th of 14, on comeback, in a 2600m Cherbourg Class B a month ago. Shoes on again and others preferred
4. JACQUARD – Good dual-discipline sort that finished last of 14, on comeback, in a 2600m Cherbourg Class B a month ago. Is still in conditioning mode and best to hold off
5. JUNKIE (SWE) – Last but one, when preparing for this, in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 30 September. Has won under these conditions and from the 5-spot can play a leading role
6. DESTINY DI POGGIO – 2nd of 12 in a Class D over course and distance on 29 September. Stays unshod behind but still looks good enough to win this
7. JUNON DE LOU – 2nd of 13 in a 2700m Class C here on 22 September. Has placed just once in 5 under these conditions and chances limited
8. JOKER DES CHALIERS – Gave a good account on re-entry late last month when 5th of 11 in a 2700m Class C here. Will have progressed for the run and returns to his distance of preference with a realistic chance of imposing
9. DANA EK – Serious mare making first start for new trainer after winning over 1640m at Mantorp late last month. Breaks wide but excels over these shorter trips and can play a role
10. DIE HARD (ITY) – Surprise 2nd of 9 finishers, on re-entry, in a Class D under these conditions late last month. Takes on a decent bunch here but with form maintained should not disappoint
11. DAYTONA DI CECCO – Sprang a 111/1 surprise when winning a 2875m Enghien Class D on 9 October. On back line and a repeat seems most improbable
12. SANDOKAN (SWE) – Makes first start south of the nordics after running 4th of 12 over 2140m at Solvalla a fortnight ago. Receives a David Thomain drive and can get a look-in if he successfully navigates the start
13. DOROTY DEL SAURO – Sanctioned in both since coming to France, most recently a 2875m Enghien Class D earlier in the month. Shoes on and no threat
14. DE GAULLE GRIF – Comes here fresh after having run 2nd of 14 in a Class D over course and distance late-August. Is unbeaten with Yoann Lebourgeois who will be eager to put on another good show
15. JASMIN DHELPA – Not the most dependable but came in a pleasant 5th of 9 in a 2700m Class B here mid-month. Handed a tough draw but has been entrusted to Eric Raffin for first time and will have his chances of finishing in the mix
Summary: An exceptional Italian import, DESTINY DI POGGIO (6) missed out by little over course and distance late last month, on just her second start back, and looks the one to beat this time. JMB will still be keeping a keen eye on the reconfigured JOKER DES CHALIERS (8) who has won 3 of 4 under these conditions, and the less-favourably-drawn DE GAULLE GRIF (14) who thrives over these shorter trips. JUNKIE (SWE) (5) may not be to everyone’s taste but she has been prepared for this, goes barefoot, and the draw will only work to her advantage.

C2 – PRIX URANIE – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Gr2 Race – Harness – EUR € 120,000 |
1. LAMATTA – Disqualified, but nevertheless showed her form, in a 2100m Class B here a fortnight ago. In this category though, has no possible chance
2. LOUVE DE REVE D’OR – Useful sort that finished 7th of 11, having faulted, in a 2600m Cherbourg Class B a month ago. Has never been tested at this level and even with Eric Raffin in the bike is not about to shake things up
3. LOVE LETTER – Ran 4th in Prix Annick Dreux before defying her 95/1 to run 4th in Criterium. Unlikely to improve on that but can still make first 5
4. LUSH LIFE – Tricky filly that showed her talent when 3rd to LIZA JOSSELYN (9) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Annick Dreux here late-August, and will not be sent out at 67/1 this time
5. LUNA NOVA GWEN – Has placed once in this rank but disappointing 8th of 10, behind LONDON (7), in a 2700m Gr.3 here on 29 September, and will need to find more
6. LET ME SHINE GIO – Disappointing for some months, latterly 8th of 10 in a 2450m Caen monté Gr.1 a fortnight ago, and can be passed over
7. LONDON – 2nd of 10 in Gr.3 Prix des Troyes over track and trip late last month. Mathieu Mottier back in the wagon and should figure prominently if he keeps her trotting
8. LA JOYEUSE WICZ – Gr.1-winning filly that was sanctioned, on re-entry, in a 2800m Rambouillet Class B on 6 October. Front pads fitted but others still preferred
9. LIZA JOSSELYN – Terrific filly that made short work of Prix Annick Dreux before being sanctioned in Criterium under these conditions mid-September. Shoes back on and, if focused, can make this her own
10. LOUISIANE DE BOMO – Ran 5th of 12, behind LOTTA BOURBON (11), in Criterium des 3 Ans over course and distance last month. Was in cracking shape that day and, with form maintained, could pleasantly surprise
11. LOTTA BOURBON – Has done battle with LIZA JOSSELYN (9) in last 3, beating her once, and latterly 3rd of 12 in Criterium des 3 Ans. In similar form is not incapable of beating her again
Summary: Sanctioned when she appeared not to be at her ease in the Gr.1 Critérium des 3 Ans, LIZA JOSSELYN (9) returns to racing shod and, with application, should have the measure of the classy LOTTA BOURBON (11) whom she beat in the Gr.2 Prix Annick Dreux in late-August. LOUISIANE DE BOMO (10) would have finished closer in the Criterium had she been afforded a run, and Benjamin Rochard will be eager to set the record straight. LONDON (7) may not always be the luckiest of fillies but she ran 2nd in a Gr.3 here late last month and must be considered a contender.

C3 – PRIX JUNO – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000 |
1. FOKKER DE BAILLY – Sanctioned in a 2825m Chartres Class E last week. Has no love for 2100m on the main track and can be passed over
2. HAS DE COEUR – 6th of 12 in a 2700m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Is considerably better than that, enjoys a front-row break, and can win his first race since May 2023
3. FIRST LADY BLEUE – Has done little of note for some time, latterly 6th of 14 in a 2800m Castéra-Verduzan Class E mid-month, and can be ruled out
4. FAKIR DE GESVRES – Sanctioned, when unsupported, in a 2875m Enghien monté Class D last week, and will have nothing to offer
5. GAMINE DE RIBEAU – 5th of 13 in a 2300m Borely Class E 2 weeks ago. Imposed over track and trip last month, and even though drawn well, can expect to find this a stiff test
6. GAROU DU CHENE – Sanctioned after a minor incident in a 2850m Class D here late last month. Has not been the most fortunate recently, but given the chance can trot his way into the frame
7. FUNKY BERRY – Barring a Beaumont blip has been lurking for some time, latterly 2nd of 11 in a 2625m Alencon Class E on 6 October, and being partnered by Jean-Philippe Monclin will do his prospects no disservice
8. FERGIE HIGHLAND – Pleasantly surprising 4th of 13 in a 2850m Class D here on 27 September, but a repeat seems improbable
9. HERMES EXPRESS – 9th of 12, behind HAS DE COEUR (2), in a 2700m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Has never been tested under 2350m but Eric Raffin maintains faith and can win this if he successfully navigates the start
10. HARCOUEL – 5th of 11, behind HAS DE COEUR (2), in a 2500m Reims Class E mid-September. Has placed just once in 6 starts over track and trip and others easier to back
11. HACIENDA – Disqualified following some poor luck in a 2400m Amiens Class D on 21 September. Form is not in question and can go close if François Lecanu keeps her out of trouble
12. GLORIOSO BELLO – Defied his odds to run 4th of 13 in a 2450m Caen Class C a fortnight ago. Solid in last 2 starts over course and distance but, in this category, will struggle to make his mark
13. GIANA DE MARZY – 2nd to GAMINE DE RIBEAU (5) here before coming 6th of 12, a place behind HACIENDA (11), in a Class D over course and distance on 14 October. Races barefoot but the draw will do her no favours
14. HOTEL MYSTIC – 4th of 11 in a 2700m Class D at La Capelle on 6 September. Has been knocking at the door for some time and, despite the draw, can still make first 5
15. HESCORT LOVE – Won over 2200m at Caen before being sanctioned, when full of running in a 2875m Enghien monté Class D mid-month. Barefoot for the occasion but will first need to negate the draw. Minor place chance
16. HERMES D’ECROVILLE – Was on a fine run of form before finishing an atypical 11th of 12, behind HAS DE COEUR (2), in a 2700m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Thrives over this distance and will not be far from the action if Matthias Legros positions him early
Summary: Not the luckiest here early this month, HAS DE COEUR (2) returns to conditions he adores, breaks from the 2-spot, and can set the record straight. HERMES EXPRESS (9) ran out of steam that day following some questionable tactics but Eric Raffin will be keen to make amends. GAROU DU CHENE (6) showed his form before being sanctioned here late last month, sports a new configuration, and can redeem himself. HACIENDA (11) was denied a run at Amiens but is barefoot as she was when 5th here mid-September, and must be respected.

C4 – PRIX PIERRE VAN TROYEN – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 80,000 |
1. JOLIE STAR – 9th of 12 in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 30 September, and in present shape will have nothing to offer
2. JOLIE SURPRISE – Quality element that is still being conditioned after finishing 7th of 16 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class B earlier this month, and can be ruled out
3. JINGLE DU PONT – Gets a 4th conditioner after his break, latterly finishing 13th of 16 in a 2800m Chartres Class B last week, and can be passed over
4. KHAL’S FELLA – 5th in Prix Gaston Brunet before coming 5th of 12, a place behind KEEN WINNER (8), in 2850m Gr.1 Criterium des 4 Ans here on 14 September. 77/1 will not be available this time but still a minor place chance at best
5. KELLE BEAUTE – Ran 2nd in a Gr.2 over course and distance before faulting in Criterium des 4 Ans. Shoes on this time and best to wait
6. KARLA DE MAI – Back under harness after faulting in a 2175m Vincennes monté Gr.1 late last month. Has other priorities and can be ruled out
7. KATAKI DE WALLIS – Made short work of Prix Gaston Brunet before running 11th of 12, after numerous false starts, in Criterium des 4 Ans. If he gets off on the right foot, the race should be his for the taking
8. KEEN WINNER – Won a 2175m Gr.2 here before outclassing many colts, coming 4th of 12 finishers in 2850m Gr.1 Criterium des 4 Ans here on 14 September. Takes on better this time but has earned the right to race and place here
9. KATINKA DU MOUCHEL – Tricky character than ran 3rd to KEEN WINNER (8) in Prix Paul Leguerney before faulting in Criterium des 5 Ans mid-September. Just hind shoes off this time and is a potential spoiler
10. JUST A MIDI – More than made up for Prix Jockey performance when 5th of 15, a place behind JANGO VICI (15), in 3000m Criterium des 5 Ans here on 14 September, and looks a more serious proposition this time around
11. KABAKA DE GUEZ – Finished last but one in a 2950m Toulouse Class B on 27 September, on 2nd start for JMB. Eric Raffin reining on this occasion and it is only a question of time before she delivers
12. KIARA DE VANDEL – Pulled off quite the coup a fortnight ago, running 2nd of 8 in a 2100m Gr.1 here. Unlikely to repeat but can still make first 5, and will not be available at 94/1 on this occasion
13. JEEGHA PRIDE – Has not been seen out since faulting in a 3000m Vincennes monté Gr.1 late June. Just front pads fitted and will need the run
14. JOUMBA DE GUEZ – Complicated but talented mare that was sanctioned in a 2700m monté Gr.2 here a fortnight ago. Has references under harness too and, sporting a new configuration, will be no easy touch if she stays in stride
15. JANGO VICI – 5th of 15 in 3000m Gr.1 Criterium des 5 Ans mid-September. Takes a notable step down in category and should be able to give KATAKI DE WALLIS (7) a run for his money
Summary: Winner of the Gr.2 Prix Gaston Brunet over course and distance late-August, before disappointing in the Gr.1 Critérium des 4 Ans, the reconfigured KATAKI DE WALLIS (7) should be able to win this if Gabi Gelormini keeps him focused at the start. That being said, JANGO VICI (15) benefits from a superb entry and, given current form, will be no pushover. A place behind him in the Critérium des 5 Ans, at 126/1, JUST A MIDI (10) must be taken more seriously this time. KEEN WINNER (8) won the Gr.2 Prix Paul Leguerney before running 4th in the Critérium des 4 Ans and takes on her elders with modified shoeing and a good hand to play.

C5 – PRIX VICTOR REGIS – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Gr2 Race – Harness – EUR € 120,000 |
1. L’AS DE COEUR – Sanctioned in a 2450m Caen monté Gr.1 a fortnight ago. Has no place here and can be written off
2. LAGNU MAG – In the frame in last 3, most recently 3rd of 10 to LITTLE BROWN (5) in a Gr.3 over course and distance late last month. 4 pads fitted but will still struggle to repeat
3. LOGAN JIEL – Sanctioned in a 2825m Chartres Class B last week. Hind pads on this time but still has more to find
4. LUCKY JACKSON – Honest colt that ran 4th in Prix Jacques de Vauloge before coming 7th of 12 in Criterium. Cannot be considered a priority but, in similar form, can make first 5
5. LITTLE BROWN – Failed to fire in Criterium but reassuring winner of a Gr.3 over course and distance late last month and should not be underestimated
6. LARGO DE CASTELLE – Won a valuable sales Gr.3 over track and trip late-August before racing better in Criterium than his 9th place would suggest. 4th of 9 when prepping for this in a 2700m Graignes Class B 12 days ago. Attention
7. LOULOU DE MYE – Held off LOMBOK JIEL (9) to win a 2700m Gr.2 here late-August but was out of sorts when 10th of 12 in Criterium. Has had time to recalibrate, sports a revised formula, and looks the main threat to Matthieu Abrivard’s charge
8. LUCIANO MENUET – Could have finished closer than 4th of 12, behind LOMBOK JIEL (9), in Criterium des 3 Ans mid-September had he not encountered traffic problems, but can more than make amends if Yoann Lebourgeois keeps him out of trouble
9. LOMBOK JIEL – High-class colt that ran 2nd to the exceptional Lovino Bello in Gr.1 Criterium des 3 Ans over course and distance mid-September. Is plainly the standout here and will be expected to impose
Summary: An excellent campaigner that missed out by little in the Gr.1 Criterium des 3 Ans, and in the absence of that day’s winner, LOMBOK JIEL (9) sports hind pads this time and has an excellent chance of returning to victorious ways. Leading the opposition is the reconfigured LOULOU DE MYE (7) who beat him in the Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vauloge late-August, and the talented but somewhat erratic LUCIANO MENUET (8) who was rather unlucky in the Criterium.

C6 – PRIX ORIONIS – 2850m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000 |
1. FLOCON MONTJEANAIS – 10th of 14 in a 2850m Maure-de-Bretagne Class E last Sunday. Shod to preference for main-track debut but still has no chance
2. HORACIO DE CERISY – Reassuring 2nd of 11 in a 2900m Amiens Class F 3 weeks ago. Starts in front and with Eric Raffin in the bike, is unlikely to disappoint
3. EL VALEROSO – Reassuring 3rd of 9 in a 2800m Chartres Class E last week but in this company will have no prospect of making his presence felt
4. GREAT KILLS – 8th of 11 in a 2650m Laon Class F on 13 October. Has been out of sorts but races barefoot for the occasion, with Yoann Lebourgeois reining, and is not to be overlooked
5. GALWAY DU VIVIER – Unexceptional trotter that finished 8th of 11 in a 2150m Enghien amateurs Class E last week. Barefoot for the occasion but can still be written off
6. GALANTE DE TILLARD – Made the frame at Les Sables-d’Olonne before finishing a lacklustre 9th of 13 in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 9 October, and others easier to back
7. GRAHIKA – Showed her form despite being sanctioned in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 9 October. Starts in front and with application can impose
8. GAMIN DU LERRE – Honest type that ran 4th of 14 in a 2700m Segré Class F on 29 September. Enjoys a good entry on front line but still looks out of his depth
9. HERMES LUDOIS – Got back in the game at Meslay-du-Maine earlier this month when 3rd of 15 in a 2875m Class E. Incurs the penalty again but still looks a solid first-5 chance
10. GARDE A VOUS – 9th of 16, behind GAMIN DE MAHEY (13), in a 2450m Caen Class D a fortnight ago. Races barefoot this time but has not done enough recently to be considered a player
11. GOLD D’ECROVILLE – Sanctioned, when unsupported, in a 2150m Enghien Class D late last month. Just front pads fitted and even with Gabi Gelormini in the bike this time is unlikely to cause an upset
12. HONEY KING – Tough, consistent trotter that came 4th of 13 in a 2150m Enghien Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Has references under these conditions and, even from back line, looks dangerous
13. GAMIN DE MAHEY – 3rd of 16 in a 2450m Caen Class D a fortnight ago. In the frame in 2 of 3 under these conditions and should be good enough to finish close again
14. EL PASO D’OCCAGNES – Races barefoot after coming 5th of 14 in a 2875m Enghien claimer 11 days ago, but can still be confidently disregarded
15. EQUEJUELO – Showed improvement when 6th of 12 in a 2875m Enghien Class D 2.5 weeks ago, but is unlikely to repeat
16. FILOU DE LARRE – 4th of 7 in a competitive Class C over course and distance on 22 September. In less-exalted company this time and can make a big splash. Attention
Summary: Talented but never far from faulting, GRAHIKA (7) finds herself nicely-placed on the front row, is shod as she was when winning at Mauquenchy and, if focused, can prevail. She will however face significant opposition from second-line starters HONEY KING (12) who is barefoot following a good Enghien performance, finishing ahead of GAMIN DE MAHEY (13) who subsequently went on to go closer at Caen. On the back row, but superbly-engaged, FILOU DE LARRE (16) drops in category and looks a serious proposition.

C7 – PRIX HERVE CERAN-MAILLARD – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Gr2 Race – Mounted – EUR € 120,000 |
1. JADE DU CEDRE – Sanctioned in Gr.2 Prix Edmond Henry race of reference, on first start since April. Will have progressed for the run and, sporting a new configuration, looks capable of making first 5
2. JEZABELLE BIE – Distant 3rd of 5 finishers, behind JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8), in Gr.2 Prix Edmond Henry over track and trip a fortnight ago. Is not devoid of ability and, with some luck in running, can pick up a cheque
3. JOY FOR US – Sanctioned in a Class C over course and distance mid-month, on 2nd start back, but others still easier to trust
4. JAMAICA PHEDO – Won 3 of last 4, latterly a 2875m Enghien Class D in good order a fortnight ago. Takes a big step up in category but has won 4 of 6 with Eric Raffin and, sporting 4 pads for first time, must be respected
5. JAGUAR DU GOUTIER – Modest element that faulted, on comeback, in a 2700m Class B over course and distance 3 weeks ago and is out of his depth
6. JUNON DU LEARD – Back under the saddle after finishing last but one in a harness Class B over course and distance late-September. Sports her ‘monté’ configuration but in current form is hard to make a case
7. JUNE – Never far from faulting but has talent in spades, most recently coming 2nd of 5 finishers, behind JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8), in Gr.2 Prix Edmond Henry over track and trip a fortnight ago. If focused, can confirm
8. JEROBOAM D’ERABLE – Made no bones about winning Gr.2 Prix Edmond Henry over track and trip a fortnight ago. Excels in this configuration and can pull off the 5-timer
9. JEAN BALTHAZAR – Last but one, on return to competition earlier this month, in a 2875m Meslay Gr.3. Boasts excellent monté references and will be expected to give JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8) something to consider
Summary: Winner of his last 4 starts under the saddle, including the Gr.1 Prix de Normandie late-June, JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8) most recently dominated the Gr.2 Prix Edmond Henry and will take all the beating. JUNE (7) finished a reassuring 2nd that day and, with application, can again figure prominently, but she may first have to defer to the classy, and reconfigured, JEAN BALTHAZAR (9) who ran 2nd in the Normandie last time under the saddle.

C8 – PRIX BELLONA – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 46,000 |
1. KOZIELLO DE LOU – 4th of 9 in a Class D under these conditions late last month. Has turned a corner since starting to race barefoot and will not be far off the mark if François Lagadeuc extricates him early
2. KASH LADY – Struck gold at first time of asking for new trainer, winning a Class D over course and distance on 29 September. Eric Raffin stays faithful and can repeat
3. KOALA BLUE – In the frame in 3 on the Riviera before being sanctioned in a 2800m Rambouillet Class B earlier this month. Competitively shod this time but a minor place chance at best
4. KIWI DE TREMONT – Failed to confirm good 2175m performance when sanctioned in a 2700m Class B here mid-September. Is well-placed behind the car and Jean-Philippe Monclin will be expected to set the record straight
5. KAKO GASCOGNE – Won 2 of last 3, most recently a 2175m monté Class C here 2.5 weeks ago with authority. Has never failed to fire over 2100m on the main track and will be expected to give another good account
6. KAMIKAZE DU CAMPUS – Won over 2700m here before coming 2nd to the excellent Keep Secret in a 2175m Class C here early last month. Gets on nicely with Benjamin Rochard and is well-positioned to give this a good go
7. KIVALA RENARDIER – Last of 13 to KEVISAN (8), on re-entry, in a 2800m Cordemais Class B on 6 October. Starts in front, is barefoot for the occasion, and is not to be underestimated
8. KEVISAN – Won over track and trip before coming 2nd of 13 in a 2800m Cordemais Class B on 6 October. Starts wide but is reunited with David Thomain who will afford him every chance
9. ERNESTO ROC – Sanctioned, on 2nd start back, in a Class D over course and distance on 29 September. Starts wide but races barefoot this time and should not be overlooked
10. KOUSINE CARISAIE – Has not been seen out since coming 7th of 11 in a 2950m Vichy Class D late-August. Shoes on and no threat
11. KING GEORGES – Tricky but useful sort that ran 7th of 9, when being conditioned, in a 2700m Class B here 10 days ago. Hind shoes off this time and, with application, can go far
12. ERMES EFFESSE – Disappointing since coming to France, latterly last but one behind KAKO GASCOGNE (5) in a 2175m Class C here on 20 September, and will have nothing to contribute
13. RAGAZZA DU CHENE – Sanctioned in late-September race of reference. Tends to show more at home and, even with hind shoes off, will have too much to do
14. EMIRO CLEMAR – Surprise 5th of 9, a place behind KOZIELLO DE LOU (1), in a Class D under these conditions late last month. Will not be available at 90/1 this time but is unlikely to be as competitive either
15. EMILY LP – Last but one, behind KASH LADY (2), in a Class D over course and distance on 29 September, and looks to need another run
16. ERICA JET – Sanctioned after tiring in a Class D over course and distance late last month. Not short of ability but looks to have her work cut out this time
Summary: As inclement as the wind but a filly of significant capacity, KASH LADY (2) won over course and distance late last month, on her first start for Pierre Belloche, and barefoot for the first time, is in with a realistic shout of confirming. KIWI DE TREMONT (4) drops marginally in category, has never disappointed under these conditions, reverts to racing with front pads, and is well-placed to apply the pressure. Shod to preference this time, KEVISAN (8) has never been beaten over 2100m here and has already won twice for David Thomain. KAMIKAZE DU CAMPUS (6) came into himself over the summer, thrives at Vincennes, and takes on 2100m here with legitimate ambition.

4. LA BELLE POETE – Won a 1200m Class 1 conditions race on heavy ground early this year and added to her tally in a 1200m claimer at Mont-de-Marsan on 14 September. Not hastily condemned for her Chantilly 7th on 1 October
5. KALEOCREEK – Soundly beaten in back-to-back recent handicaps, finished 13th on both occasions – the latest over 1200m at Fontainebleau on 8 October
6. ATLANTIC WAYS – Consistent filly with sound references in handicaps, albeit without a victory (9 starts). Finished 2nd in back-to-back Deauville races before a last-start 8th in a 1400m Compiegne handicap on 17 September
7. GAZARIA – Unplaced in both starts, the latest (6th) in a 1600m maiden at Lyon-Parilly on 11 September. Overlook
8. RUMPLETEAZER – Experienced 21-start maiden with sound references/form credentials, albeit without a victory. Finished 2nd on heavy ground in a 1400m claimer at Saint-Cloud on 14 October
Summary: MOUNT VERNON (3) returned to winning in a similar contest at Saint-Cloud last month and is good value to follow up here at the expense of ATLANTIC WAYS (6) who has proven herself in handicaps and ought to fare better at this lower level. SHOWPOWER (2), after a reassuring 2nd at Toulouse in first-time headgear (retained here) and LA BELLE POETE (4) appeal most of the remainder.

1. CREW DRAGON – A model of consistency in good form and physical condition – never finished worse than 4th with Pierre Remoué aboard (won twice). Runner-up over 1300m at Craon on 23 September
2. NOLITO – Won a 1600m Fontainebleau claimer last month and confirmed that form/improvement by finishing 2nd in a 1400m conditions race at Saint-Cloud on 10 October. Candidate for success
3. LOVELY ANGEL – Experienced hard-knocker with sound references/form credentials in handicaps. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 5th in a 1400n conditions race at Saint-Cloud on 10 October
4. KILFRUSH MEMORIES – Has been waited with for deep/heavy ground on which he thrives – won consecutive starts on heavy ground in March. Not hastily condemned for finishing 10th on PSF over 150m at Deauville on 8 August
5. SAGA TIMGAD – Unreliable veteran who continues to blow hot and cold – won 2 handicaps this year but rarely runs two consecutive races the same. Finished 9th in a 1400m PSF conditions race at Chantilly on 21 September
6. SLEEPY SUZY – Won a 1600m ParisLongchamp claimer last month before finishing a well-beaten 11th in a handicap at Lyon-Parilly over 1600m on 29 September. Will appreciate the return to this category
7. ADEVA – Showed early promise (in 2022) but lost her way/form last year and was underwhelming on her return (9th) in a 1900m conditions race on heavy ground at Argentan on 9 October
8. SHAMSOUN – Long-time maiden (61 starts) unlikely to make any impression on the evidence of his last-start 10th in a 1500m conditions race at Vannes on 21 September
Summary: CREW DRAGON (1) has enjoyed a fruitful campaign and should continue that momentum, having already proven himself on deep/heavy and over this distance. NOLITO (2), returned to the handicaps with legitimate ambitions, is best equipped to challenge the selection for race honours. KILFRUSH MEMORIES (4), with Maxime Guyon aboard, isnt taken lightly on his reappearance. LOVELY ANGEL (3) appeals most of the remainder.

1. A LIGHT MIST – Unplaced (7th) on debut over 1600m at Argentan on 30 September. Open to improvement but best just to watch for now
2. SOME SKYE – Consistent filly with references at a higher level (Listed and Group races), albeit without success. Drops back into calmer waters after finishing 9th in a 2100m Listed race at ParisLongchamp on 1 September
3. MY DESERT QUEEN – Yet to find the frame in 7 (unplaced) appearances and unlikely to trouble the judge here after finishing 14th in a 1600m turf handicap at Deauville on 6 August
4. KAMAKURA ONE – Showed early promise last year, finishing 2nd three times and 3rd twice in her first 5 starts. Hasnt been since finishing 9th over 2000m at Toulouse on 19 June
5. WINDBURN – Honest filly with the form and experience to play a leading role, especially on evidence of her last-start 4th over 2000m at Saint-Cloud on 20 September
6. LORIA – Acquitted herself well in defeat on debut, finishing 3rd over 1600m at Chantilly in an interesting field on 3 October. Would’ve gained from that experience
7. IMPERA – Vaclav Luka-trained Holy Roman Emperor filly on debut with Antoine Subias booked to ride. Keep safe
8. SAVE THE SEA – Gavin Hernon-trained Cloth Of Stars debutante out of a Whipper mare – pedigree suggests she’ll have no issues with deep/heavy ground. Alexis Pouchin is a notable jockey engagement
Summary: SOME SKYE (2) sets the standard and has already proven herself on deep/heavy ground. She ought to take advantage of this drop in class by belatedly opening her account in these calmer waters. WINDBURN (5) has the form and experience to pose a threat, while LORIA (6) would’ve gained plenty from her pleasing introduction and she should improve to make her presence felt too. Newcomer SAVE THE SEA (8) isn’t taken lightly.

1. MONSIEUR GEORGE – Capable veteran handicapper but out of sorts. Well-beaten 10th in a 2800m handicap at Saint-Cloud on 4 October
2. CANIAR DE LUXE – Confirmed the form/improvement of his previous start (3rd) in a handicap by finishing 4th in a claimer at Aix-les-Bains over 2500m on 9 July. Respected on his reappearance
3. GARDE COTE – Absent since finishing an improved/reassuring 4th in a 2400m Saint-Cloud handicap on 5 October. Not taken lightly
4. CLICCLIC PANPANPAN – Courageously opened her account with a last-start win in a 2800m Saint-Cloud handicap on 4 October. A 2,5kg penalty is unlikely to prevent another bold bid
5. AMANTA COVE – Sparingly raced mare with scope for improvement after a pleasing handicap debut (2nd) at Les Sables over 3400m on 12 October. Candidate for success
6. WHISPERING OCEAN – Unreliable veteran but an experienced handicapper with sound references. Hasn’t been seen since his disappointing 10th in a 2250m conditions race at Niort on 26 May but shouldn’t be underestimated
7. TIGRE ROUGE – Lightly raced, in-form handicapper who added to his tally with a last-start success in a 2400m Toulouse handicap on 2 October. Remains competitive under a 2,5kg penalty
8. MORNING FIVE – Honest hard-knocker with sound references (seldom far off the mark). Dropped 1,5kg after a last-start 8th in a 2400m Craon handicap on 6 October – attractive outsider
9. MER NOIR – Consistent filly whose competitiveness at this level and efficiency on heavy ground is beyond doubt. Acquitted herself well in defeat (5th) in a 2400m Toulouse handicap on 2 October
10. ARMORIGENE – Capable veteran handicapper with references in this category off higher marks, though out of sorts at present. Well-beaten 10th in a 1950m handicap at Le Mans on 16 October
11. FRENCH DIVA – Regaining momentum with each drop in the weights/ratings and didn’t go unnoticed when 5th off this mark in a 2800m handicap at Saint-Cloud on 4 October. Not taken lightly
12. SUDDEN DEATH – Caught the eye on his return from a 10-month layoff with an encouraging 3rd in a 3400m handicap at Les Sables on 12 October. Need only repeat that performance to fight for victory
13. POWERKISS D’OROUX – Yet to establish himself in the handicaps on either surface and the blinkers worn in his last 3 (unplaced) starts are dispensed with. Finished 6th in a 3700m hurdles race when last seen on 5 May
14. ELEGANTIA – Posted a career-best 3rd off this mark in a minor Class 4 conditions race over 3100m at Saint-Brieuc on 6 October. More needed back in a handicap
15. DANCE THE BLUES – Soundly beaten in both recent comeback appearances following an 8-month absence. Unplaced (9th) in a 3100m Saint-Cloud handicap on 9 September
16. PRINCESSE SCARLET – Experienced veteran mare with references over this distance and in handicaps off her current mark. Unplaced (7th) over 2850m at Sablé-sur-Sarthe in conditions race on 15 September
17. LOUNA CHOPE – Sparked improvement dropped to this mark by finishing 4th in a minor 2350m conditions race at Haras du Pin on13 October. More needed
Summary: SUDDEN DEATH (12) finished an eye-catching 3rd on his return from a lengthy layoff at Le Mans a fortnight ago and won’t need to improve a great deal, with superior fitness on his side, to get the better of AMANTA COVE (5) whose candidacy for success isn’t in question, especially with Florent Guy engaged. Last-start winner CLICCLIC PANPANPAN (4) and consistent MER BLACK (9) are also competitive for the podium positions.

1. MEARAS STYLE – Honest veteran mare with sound references at this level (seldom far off the mark on a going day). Only 8th in a Le Croisé-Laroche handicap over 1800m on 7 October so needs to reaffirm – watch for now
2. ACHKI – Veteran handicapper whose continued zest for racing and competitiveness at this level is beyond doubt. Jerome Moutard has 6 Top 3 finishes in 9 associations, including 1 win. Showed his form and well-being by finishing 3rd in a 1400m Compiegne handicap (heavy ground) on 11 October
3. HYGROVE BEC – Last-start winner of a 1600m handicap at Le Mans on 16 October – penalised 2,5kg for that victory. She remains competitive off her revised mark, especially with Mickaël Barzalona engaged
4. GOJI BERRY – Proven ‘mudlark’ with sound references in handicap under these/similar conditions, including a good last-start 4th on very heavy ground in a 1600m Chantilly handicap on 4 April. Respected on his return
5. OCTOBER CHOPE – A model of consistency in handicaps recently, albeit off a slightly lower mark. Runner-up at Compiegne over in a 1400m handicap on heavy ground earlier this month (11 October)
6. LE GITAN – Runner-up in consecutive recent outings, the latest in a 1950m Les Sables handicap on 12 October. Dark horse
7. JOLITA DE VIETTE – An 11-start maiden who didn’t go unnoticed when 3rd in a 2950m Cholet handicap on 7 October. Could have a say here if confirming/building on that improvement
8. LA PALOMBIERE – Didn’t go unnoticed when 5th in a 1950m Les Sables handicap on 2 July. Can be forgiven her excusable return at Machecoul on 20 October
9. PRINCESS LAURA – Confirmed the form/improvement of her previous start (4th) at La Roche-Posay by finishing a good 2nd in a 1600m handicap at Le Mans on 16 October. Respected with blinkers worn in those races retained
10. BOKRA FIL MISHMISH – Sparked improvement dropped to this mark when runner-up in a minor 2150m Class 4 conditions race at Landivisiau on 13 October. More needed
11. GOFAST – Battling 21-start maiden soundly beaten in 4 consecutive recent outings, the latest (14th) in an 1800m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 26 Spetember
12. BELLA CIAO – Has dropped to a competitive mark and confirmed as much by finishing 3rd in an 1800m conditions race on heavy ground at Argentan on 9 October. Dangerous under a 55kg with Maxime Guyon aboard
Summary: ACHKI (2) acquitted himself well in defeat last time but will be an entirely different proposition on ground he appreciates. As such, he is taken to avenge that recent defeat to last-start conqueror OCTOBER CHOPE (5), with BELLA CIAO (12) likely to play a leading role too off an attractive (lower) handicap mark. HYGROVE BEC (3), a winner at Le Mans recently, also has legitimate aspirations with the shortlist completed by PRINCESS LAURA (9).

1. TOLLEVAST – A specialist on deep/heavy ground and confirmed as much with a resounding wide-margin last-start victory in a 2000m claimer at Saint-Cloud on 14 October. May well follow up off an unchanged mark
2. BOZZO – Remarkably consistent handicapper who wasn’t winning out of turn when scoring on heavy ground in a 1600m handicap at Saint-Cloud on 14 October. Candidate for success despite 2,5kg penalty
3. PREWITT – Consistent performer with sound references/form credentials, including a last-start victory over 1800m at Dieppe on 27 August. Respected on his reappearance under a mere 0,5kg penalty
4. LAURENT – Won a Quinté+ handicap over this distance last year and shouldn’t be hastily condemned for finishing 12th last time in a 1600m Quinte+ handicap on heavy ground at Saint-Cloud on 14 October. Respected
5. AIGUIERE D’ARGENT – Soundly beaten in back-to-back Quinte handicaps recently, the latest (11th) over 1600m at Chantilly on 3 September. Drop in class and booking of Alexis Pouchin should yield a more competitive showing
6. SONEMOS – Placed in all 3 comeback outings on French soil, the latest (3rd) in a well-composed Class 3 conditions race at Le Croisé-Laroche over 1800m on 7 October. Keep safe
7. BALAKOVNA – Progressive last-start winner on heavy ground of a 2000m Saint-Cloud handicap on 27 September. Will remain competitive under a 3,5kg penalty
8. AQUILON – Last-start winner on soft ground of a 2000m Vichy handicap on 23 September. Not taken lightly despite a 2kg penalty
9. INCLINATION – Inconsistent handicapper although not entirely incapable of getting into the picture, especially on the evidence of her reassuring last-start 3rd in a Compiegne handicap over 1800m on 17 September
10. KIMINA – Runner-up on heavy ground in a 2100m Saint-Cloud Quinte+ on 21 March but has lost her way since. Unplaced in consecutive conditions races, latest (8th) over 2000m at Saint-Cloud on 25 May – not now
11. STAR PLATINUM – Consistent maiden with sound form references, though hasn’t been seen since finishing 7th at La Teste over 1800m on 1 September 2023. Best watched for now
12. ARCUBIATU – Unreliable but undeniably capable of making his presence felt in a race like this on a going day, having finished a reassuring 4th last time in a 2100m Marseille-Borely handicap on 28 September. Dark horse
Summary: TOLLEVAST (1) runs for new connections and could showcase his aptitude/efficiency for heavy ground by following up his Saint-Cloud success with another victory here. He will, however, have to thwart the likely challenge of fast-finisher BOZZO (2), who also returned to winning ways last time out, and consistent PREWITT (3). After a much-needed comeback outing in a Quinté+ handicap, LAURENT (4) should fare better in these calmer waters.

3. HEY MAN – Winner of back-to-back 1950m handicaps, the latest at Les Sables on 12 October. Carries another 3kg penalty for that recent success but ought to remain competitive

5. TREVOR SENORA – Consistent handicapper whose return to winning ways isn’t too far away. Finished an encouraging 5th in a 2000m Saint-Cloud handicap on 27 September – not taken lightly
6. MINOTAUROS – Hard-knocking handicapper with sufficient means to play a role ina race of this nature. Dropped 0,5kg after finishing 7th in a 1600m Le Mans handicap on 16 October – rider’s weight allowance will help
7. SHANNA ROSE – Convincing last-start winner of a Le Crosie handicap over 1800m on 19 September. Mickaël Barzalona retains the ride despite the 2,5kg penalty
8. MAKENO – Won a 1500m handicap on heavy ground at Cagnes in February but has struggled since. Finished 11th in an 1800m Le Croise-Laroche handicap on 18 October
9. ASLAN SENORA – Won a 2100m ParisLongchamp handicap in May and commendably maintained his form/consistency since. Didn’t go unnoticed when 5th in a 2100m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 12 October
10. INTEMPORELLE – Unplaced and soundly beaten in each of her last 3 starts, which include finishing 16th in back-to-back handicaps. Absent since the latest of those over 1900m on PSF at Deauville on 6 July – others preferred

Summary: RISING BLAST (1) ran on from last to finish 2nd at Saint-Cloud last time and need only be positioned nearer the pace to go one better off an unchanged mark. EASTERN STAR (2), another to have regained form/momentum dropped to his current mark, heads the list of potential dangers which includes SHANNA ROSE (7), an easy last-start winner at Le Croisé-Laroche. TREVOR SENORA (5) isn’t underestimated and will be competitive for the places.
