R1 DEAUVILLE [R-H]

C1 – PRIX DE LA COURTILLE – 2500m (a1m1/2) – ALL WEATHER – Class 2 Race – Flat – EUR € 27,000

  1. MILLIONAIRE – Soundly beaten (10th) when last seen on French soil at Strasbourg in September and unplaced in 2 subsequent starts, the latest (7th) at Hanovre in Germany on 27 October over 2000m
  2. KAPANI – Versatile hard-knocking handicapper with sound references/form credentials on both surfaces, including a recent 4th in a 2800m Quinte+ on turf at Vichy on 18 July. Respected on his reappearance
  3. THE GOOD MAN – Honest performer on a competitive mark – confirmed as much with an encouraging 2nd at Fontainebleau over 3000m on 8 October. Should have a role to play
  4. ALWAYS WELCOME – Rarely seen on PSF but but has sound references on this surface. Bounced back to form with a reassuring 4th over 2400m at Toulouse on 23 October
  5. ZULU WARRIOR – Consistent performer with references at a higher level, albeit on turf – including a good 3rd over 2300m at Le Mans on 16 October. Has no references on PSF but will appreciate this extended distance so warrants serious respect
  6. FENELON – Sparingly raced 6-year-old gelding but boasts the best form references/credentials in this field. Returned from an extended 14-month absence when finishing 9th on PSF over 1900m at Deauville on 3 November – better expected
  7. WURFGEIST – Course-and-distance winner of his only start on this surface but that was almost a year ago to the day, albeit only 2 starts back. Finished 14th in a 2400m Quinte+ turf handicap at this venue on 4 April and hasn’t been seen since
  8. AFF UN ZO – Consistent performer in Germany but finished unplaced (8th) on French soil at Le Mans over 2300m on 16 October
  9. GARBO – Regaining momentum after 2 comeback appearances following a lengthy 7-month absence. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 5th on turf at this venue on heavy ground over 1600m on 26 October
    Summary: THE GOOD MAN (3) lacks references on this surface but has shown enough to make his presence felt at the finish. However, he has to thwart the likely challenge of ZULU WARRIOR (5) who will appreciate this distance and play a leading role. FENELON (6) would’ve needed his comeback outing at Deauville and, with the benefit of that run under the belt. ALWAYS WELCOME (4) and KAPANI (2) appeal most of the remainder.

    Summary: PEDRITO (2) likes this track and trip and has a winning chance in a very competitive looking handicap. TIMES WARRIOR (13) was not disgraced last time out and is well drawn this time.     Summary: Terrific winner over course and distance last time in the discipline, KIKI AND CO (7) has been specifically prepared for this, races unshod-behind, and even in the absence of Alexandre Abrivard can win this. Christopher Corbineau will nonetheless be justifiably wary of KEPHYR D’ESTE (12) who mad short work of the opposition on his recent comeback, and the talented, and reconfigured, KOH I NOOR (13) who could not have asked for a better entry on his monté bow.   94. GALINETTE DE CYM – Failed to confirm Argentan run when 13th of 15, behind GLAXO LEMAN (5), in a 2625m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel 10 days ago. Barefoot this time but can still be ignored
  95. IDAO CASH – Reassuring 3rd of 12 in a 2750m amateurs Class H at Le Pertre a month ago. 25m better off this time and although untried here, must not be underestimated
  96. GLAXO LEMAN – 7th of 15 when preparing for this in a 2625m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel 10 days ago. Excels in the amateur category and, from the front line, will be no pushover
  97. IF DE LA COUDRE – Sanctioned early in a 2650m Laval Class F 11 days ago. Is better than most in this field and can impose if Thomas Martin gets him off on the right foot
  98. GORDON PAGUERIE – Sanctioned in 4 of last 5, latterly a 2600m Saint-Galmier amateurs Class G last week, and is not about to spring a surprise
  99. ICARE DE HOUELLE – 7th of 15 in a 2400m Montauban Class F late last month. Has no amateur references, but enjoys a good entry, and can get a look-in
  100. IMPRESS ME – Versatile sort that should not be hastily-condemned for coming 8th of 14 in a 2100m Class E here last week. Unlikely to win this but can still finish in the mix
  101. GIANT STEPS – 11th of 15, on comeback, in a 2850m Laval amateurs Class G on 8 November. Re-shod for the occasion but still not a priority
  102. EMIR SPEEDHYCAT – 8th of 13 in a 2725m Lisieux amateurs Class F early this month. Is at home in this category but latest results do nothing to inspire confidence
  103. INEDIT DU GADE – Last but one. on return to competition, in a 3300m Chartres Class F 10 days ago. Here for reasons of conditioning and can be passed over
  104. GOELAND GEMA – Below-par for past 2.5 months, most recently 10th of 15 in a 2800m Vire Class F 2.5 weeks ago, and will need to pull his socks up
  105. HORSERIS – Sanctioned in a 2150m Enghien Class E on 17 October. Is clearly in shape though and even from 2nd line, will not be far off the mark
  106. HUDSON BAIE – Makes first start in the amateur division after running 6th of 13 in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F early this month. Enjoys an excellent entry and Quentin Champenois will be eager to take advantage. Chance
  107. ISLA MUJERES – 8th of 11 in a 2825m Chartres Class F early this month. Has not been up to scratch lately, and races with front pads, but is confirmed in the amateur category and could pleasantly surprise
    Summary: Sanctioned in his last two, but nevertheless useful at a superior level, IF DE LA COUDRE (6) makes just his second appearance in the amateur division, but starts in front and the 25m advantage may just be enough to hold off the consistent HUDSON BAIE (15) who takes a notable dip in class.
