  4. ROYAL ENCLOSURE – Debut winner at Vichy in July and has confirmed that promise by acquitting himself well in both subsequent starts, the latest (5th) on heavy ground in a 1600m Group II at Milan, Italy on 20 October. Not taken lightly
  5. BATAL YOUMZAIN – Confirmed the promise of his 2nd on heavy ground in an 1800m newcomers’ race at ParisLongchamp in October with an encouraging course-and-distance 3rd on 19 November. Supplemented to run here and is expected to go well again
  6. ROMANCE CERTAINE – Purchased for €130,000 last year and made a stylish winning debut over 1500m at Tarbes on 12 October. Cannot be taken lightly with improvement expected
    Summary: Experienced INSPIRED IDEA (3) has done little wrong and it could pay to follow his progress. He finished 2nd in a similar course-and-distance contest last month and a repeat of that performance should suffice in this opening event. Last-start winner EL PEQUENIO (2), supplemented BATAL YOUMZAIN (5) and the filly ROMANCE CERTAINE (6) are best equipped to challenge the selection for race honours.

    Summary: LOUVE PRECIEUSE (10) carries a 2,5kg penalty for winning a course-and-distance handicap last month but a repeat of that performance could suffice. ACHKI (16) is more efficient/competitive on turf but has the means to trouble the selection, which can also be said of RUBIS GOLD (3) who would’ve come on from a much-needed comeback outing. PRINCE DES DUNES (12), LE CHAT BOTTE (11) and LARCIN (1) have legitimate podium prospects.

    Summary: LOVE AFFAIR (10) offers the most guarantees on the strength and consistency of her form and she’s good value to reconnect with success here at the expense of SUNSHINEFLED (7), whose last-start 3rd on PSF at Deauville was encouraging, and MONTGAUDRY (6) who can join that fight for victory if confirming/building on the improvement of his last start. SICILIA (1) and IT’S ALL A DREAM (5) complete the shortlist.

  49. STAR ROCK – Regained form/momentum recently off his current mark in 3 starts at this level – finished an encouraging 3rd in a Quinte+ event over this track and trip on 19 November. Attractive outsider
  50. LE FREINAY – Has a win and 2 places in 5 starts on this course over 1600m – that win was in a Quinté+ almost a year ago to the day off a similar mark (0,5kg higher). Finished 15th in a Quinte+ event over track and trip on 19 November but could have more to offer with headgear fitted – attractive betting proposition
  51. MARHARRY – Inexperienced 3-year-old with undeniable means and sound references/form credentials, including a Quinte+ victory on turf in his only appearance at this level. Didn’t go unnoticed (5th) in a course-and-distance handicap on 19 November

  55. THE FIRST DANCE – Last-start winner of an 1800m conditions race on PSF at Lyon-La Soie on 18 November. Can get a look off an unchanged mark but her deep No 15 draw does her chances no favours
  56. GUALDA – Won a course-and-distance claiming race on 19 November when fitted with cheekpieces for the first time. Shouldn’t be underestimated off an unchanged mark with that headgear retained
    Summary: LE FREINAY (10) won a course-and-distance Quinté+ almost a year ago to the day off a similar rating, so he is worth chancing off a 0,5kg lower mark with headgear fitted in his third start after a rest during which he was gelded. HALEINE (7) had legitimate excuses for her disappointing last start (in season) and she retains the means to fight for victory if bouncing back to her earlier form. GUALDA (16) isn’t taken lightly under a lightweight and with cheekpieces retained, while hard-knockers CENTRAL PARK WEST (2) and CHIRIMIRI (1) have genuine podium prospects. LEOPARDUCCIO (8), STAR ROCK (9) and MURCIANO (13) appeal most of the remainder.

    Summary: SPEEDSTER (3) showed signs of inexperience on debut. He did quicken nicely at the end of that race and can go one better this time. HANTANO (8) was only modest in a handicap last time out but has run some decent races and should contest the finish. SPRING HEART (10) is in good form and can get into the mix of things as well. MELANIES JOY (6) has some fair UK form and is not out of it.

    Summary: JINGLE GEDE (4) only recently joined the yard of trainer Alexis Grimault and he has immediately put him in a Mounted race. That suggests a much improved and possible winning performance is forthcoming. JASONDOR DU VINOIS (13) is in very good shape and will challenge for top honours. JEFF DE TILLARD (7) is very hard to trust but is not out of it. JUHELLET (14) won a Mounted race in his penultimate start and is another to consider.

  100. LUX DE LA MESLIERE – A winner of two of just six starts, including last time out in Class F at Cherbourg over 2625m on 24 November. Can follow up
  101. LOUSTIC D’YVEL – Yet to win but was runner-up last time out in Class A at Nantes over 3000m on 17 November. Keeps that shoe arrangement and might make the frame
    Summary: LUX DE LA MESLIERE (14) was a very easy winner at Cherbourg so gets the vote to score but it is a competitive race. L’AMIRAL DARLING (7) was disqualified last time out but does have ability and can bounce back to be a lively danger. LEADER JIEL (6) seems a bit better than his last two runs. LOU PANTAIL (12) is undefeated and won after a break last time out so could be even fitter this time.

  113. MAESTRO DE JOUDES – Won on debut but has struggled since then and was disqualified last time out at this course on 4 December. Others are much preferred
    Summary: MY SWEET DADDY (6) is a full brother to Heart Of Gold and he would not be a surprise winner of this lucky last race. He left a good impression in his qualification. There was not much between MAGYC BERRY (10) and MAESTRO DU VOYAGE (11) last time out and both are improving. MINDELO (7) tries a Mounted race and is capable of improvement.
