French Selections Friday 14th

R1 ENGHIEN [L-H]

C1 – PRIX DU BLANC-MESNIL – 2875m (a2m) – Class D Race – Mounted – EUR € 46,000

  1. KER DE TOUES – Sanctioned early in a 2400m Amiens harness Class E last week. Unseen under the saddle for 13 months and is unlikely to shake things up
  2. KAVIVE – Classy individual that should not be too hastily-judged for finishing 8th of 9 finishers in a 2175m Vincennes Class D on 9 February. Is in rude health and can bring home the bacon if Mathieu Mottier gets her off on the right foot
  3. KOPECK DE CHENU – Complicated but useful sort making ridden debut after galloping in a 2450m Caen harness Class E last Monday. Shoes on for the occasion but is still not to be written off
  4. KERIDA DE VIVOIN – 2nd of 16 in a 3000m Nantes Class E on 22 February. Has yet to win in the code but always gives her best and appreciates Enghien. First 5
  5. KRACKSMAN – Surprise winner of a 2625m Cherbourg Class F on 16 February. Goes well for his amateur and will not be available at 22/1 on this occasion
  6. KINDY PERRINE – 10th of 12 on comeback in a 2450m Caen harness Class D 11 days ago. Barefoot this time but can expect to have few takers
  7. KIKI DU ROC – Respectable 6th of 13 behind KALIMERO JASMA (10) in a 2700m Vincennes Class E a fortnight ago. Placed in last appearance here but will have too much to do
  8. KING DE L’OUEST – Switches code for first time after faulting in a 3000m Nantes Class E mid-February. Showed his form that day though and with Anthon Barrier in the irons, can play a leading role
  9. KALLAS IN SALLAZ – Well-regarded mare making first appearance since finishing last of 9 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D on 22 December. Reconfigured for Enghien debut and is not one to be underestimated
  10. KALIMERO JASMA – Reassured connections when 3rd of 13 in a 2700m Vincennes Class E a fortnight ago. Trainer could not have asked for a better entry and Jean-Yann Ricart will be keen to take advantage. Chance
Summary: Hard to knock in 3 starts this term, KAVIVE (2) lost all chance after faulting at Vincennes last month. Entrusted to Mathieu Mottier for the first time, she is unlikely to disappoint. Taking her on, and benefiting from a super entry, KALIMERO JASMA (10) won easily just over a month ago and makes his Enghien debut with a good hand to play. KING DE L’OUEST (8) makes his ridden bow after 2 straight provincial sanctions but goes well for Anthony Barrier and looks a major player. KRACKSMAN (5) has twice failed to deliver here but considering the nature of his recent success, a place in the frame is well within his grasp.
    SELECTIONS
    KAVIVE (2) – KALIMERO JASMA (10) – KING DE L’OUEST (8) – KRACKSMAN (5)
    C2 – PRIX DE PIERREFORT – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 53,000
  11. KWARTZ SIBEY – 4th of 14 in a 2700m Vincennes Class C a month ago. Has respectable credentials in this category and Eric Raffin will not be inconvenienced by the draw. First 5
  12. KIM FOREVER – Second only to a very good horse in a 2100m Vincennes Class C early last month. Handed a good draw, has decent Enghien references, and can bring the fight to KER POULGWEN (8)
  13. KASSYA – Pleasant 5th of 16 behind KIM FOREVER (2) in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 6 February. Is proven here and from the 3-spot can put on a good show
  14. KALINDA DU PARC – 6th of 16 behind KIM FOREVER (2) in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 6 February. Paul Ploquin in the bike this time and is sufficiently well-placed to get a look-in
  15. KALITA D’HENINEL – Returns to Paris after faulting in a 2150m Cagnes Class C a month back. Well-positioned on front row and if applied can make first 5
  16. KALINA PRINCESS – Has not been seen out since winning a 2700m Vincennes Class D on 22 December. Clearly in conditioning mode and best to wait
  17. KATSUMOTO – Not the most reliable but ran a reassuring 4th of 12 in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 4 February. Has been reconfigured for the occasion and with some luck in running can pick up some crumbs
  18. KER POULGWEN – Won his second of the year when clinching a 2850m Vincennes Class C on 20 February. Takes on another good lot but is still eminently capable of confirming
  19. KOURGA DE LOU – Starts for first time since finishing 8th of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class C on 21 December. Likes Enghien, sports front pads, but has pulled an awful draw and will have few friends
  20. KRAKANTE – Lightly-raced mare that made short work of a 2100m Class D across town 3 weeks ago. Pitted against better on this occasion but has masses of untapped potential and can play an important role
  21. KALMIO DE LOU – Surprise 2nd of 15 to KER POULGWEN (8) in a 2850m Vincennes Class C 3 weeks ago. Shoes back on though and will have other priorities
  22. KAPITANO DE LOU – Unthreatening 6th of 15 to KER POULGWEN (8) in a 2850m Vincennes Class C 3 weeks ago. On back line and poses no danger
  23. KENNEDY FRANCE – 4th of 15 to KER POULGWEN (8) in a 2850m Vincennes Class C 3 weeks ago. Will not be bothered by 2nd line draw and looks a serious proposition
  24. KINASSE DE VIVOIN – Showed the limits of her capacity when 9th of 16 behind KIM FOREVER (2) in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 6 February. Poor draw and no threat
  25. KANTHABELLA – Makes first appearance since finishing last but one in a 2175m Vincennes ridden Class C last October. Will need the race and prepares for a campaign under the saddle
Summary: Excellent in all three starts since the turn of the year, KER POULGWEN (8) has been allocated a wide draw but won his only start at the venue and may just be good enough to deny the better-positioned KIM FOREVER (2) who beat a number of these across town early-February. KRAKANTE (10) has pulled an unenviable number but has done nothing but improve recently and steps up in category with a good hand to play. On a roll since the start of the year, KENNEDY FRANCE (13) gave a good account behind Benoît Robin’s horse last time and will be no pushover.
    SELECTIONS
    KER POULGWEN (8) – KIM FOREVER (2) – KRAKANTE (10) – KENNEDY FRANCE (13)
    C3 – PRIX DE PREUILLY – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 46,000
  26. LATINA QUICK – In the frame in 2 of last 3, latterly 2nd of 13 in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 1 March. Eric Raffin in the saddle this time and has a realistic chance of making a successful Enghien debut
  27. LUMINEUSE DE BRION – Quality filly making first appearance since running 8th of 11 in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.2 last August. Shoes fitted and poses no danger
  28. LOUISIANE KAT – Back under harness after a flattering 2nd of 3 finishers in a 2175m Vincennes monte Class C on 7 February. Races first-time barefoot but others still easier to trust
  29. LADY QUEEN – Last of 7 finishers behind LORENE D’AVEZE (7) in a 2700m Vincennes Class B on 23 February. Shoes on again and best to hold off
  30. LOLITA TURGOT – 3rd of 13, a place behind LATINA QUICK (1) in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 1 March. Will have come on for the race and Yoann Lebourgeois can be confident of a big run
  31. LINNA DE VANDEL – Failed to confirm early-February victory when sanctioned in a 2700m Vincennes Class B on 23 February. Will be helped by the mobile start and can impose if she keeps trotting
  32. LORENE D’AVEZE – Somewhat below-par 4th of 7 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class B on 23 February. Starts wide but in this small field is not incapable of getting her nose in front
  33. LOLA DU CAMPUS – Sports a new configuration after winning a 2175m Vincennes Class C on 11 February. Breaks wide and while a repeat is unlikely, she can still play an active role
  34. LAGUNE – Gets a second crack of the Enghien whip after storming up in a 2150m Cagnes Class D on 24 January. Not ideally-drawn but with just 10 runners should not be ruled out of a first-5 finish
  35. LUCIOLE DU VERTAIN – Pleasantly-surprising 5th of 7 finishers, a place behind LORENE D’AVEZE (7), in a 2700m Vincennes Class B on 23 February but will struggle to repeat
Summary: Winner of a similar race at Vincennes early last month before losing her stride a fortnight later, LINNA DE VANDEL (6) reverts to a successful configuration and Leo Abrivard will endeavour to set the record straight. He will still want to be wary of LATINA QUICK (1) who ran close across town a fortnight ago, and LOLITA TURGOT (5) who finished a place behind her on re-entry. LORENE D’AVEZE (7) drops down the category-ladder and should take well to the Enghien profile.
    SELECTIONS
    LINNA DE VANDEL (6) – LATINA QUICK (1) – LOLITA TURGOT (5) – LORENE D’AVEZE (7)
    C4 – PRIX DU BEAUJOLAIS – 2875m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 41,000
  36. JOKER CASTILUANNE – 4th at Vincennes prior to running 3rd of 13, a place behind JIM D’ALOUETTE (5), in a 2850m Laval Class F on 5 February. David Thomain at the helm and must be considered a player
  37. JALNA DU GERS – Unraced since finishing 8th of 12 in a 2850m Laval Class D last June and will need the run
  38. JADE MAJOR – Returns to racing with pads after having been sanctioned early in a 2650m Saint-Galmier Class F last week. Placed in 1 of 2 here but still not an obvious choice
  39. JOB DE CHOISEL – Quality individual making Enghien bow after stylishly winning a 2750m Toulouse Class E on 19 February. Anthony Barrier gets the nod and is an obvious danger to JAMAIS (8)
  40. JIM D’ALOUETTE – Makes metropolitan debut after 2 fine efforts in the provinces, most recently 2nd of 13 in a 2850m Laval Class F on 5 February. Will appreciate the flat surface but no more than a minor place chance this time
  41. JUST BUILT – Fine 4th of 14 in a 2200m Caen Class E last week. Placed just once in 4 starts here however and the shoeing change will do him no favours
  42. JUAN CARLOS GIFONT – 9th of 16 in a 2100m Vincennes Class D on 8 February. Has done nothing noteworthy for some time and can be ruled out
  43. JAMAIS – Secured victory in a 2700m Vincennes Class F on 11 February. Boasts a very good turn of foot and, with the champion driver reining, can impose
  44. JASMINE D’OUILLY – Has not been seen out since coming 9th of 16 in a 2875m Class D at Meslay-du-Maine last October and will have nothing to offer
  45. JOISO POKER PRO – Got back in the game 2.5 weeks ago when victorious in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F. Has no particular love for Enghien but will still have his supporters
  46. JET DES MALBERAUX – 12th of 16 behind JIKITA MELRIC (13) when preparing for this in a 2800m Cholet Class F earlier in the month. Shod to preference, has been entrusted to Yoann Lebourgeois, and can be assured a competitive drive
  47. JAFF DE MESLAY – Gave a good account on return from a spell 12 days ago, running 6th of 11 finishers in a 2800m Vire Class E. Goes barefoot with Mathieu Mottier reining and can get in on the action
  48. JIKITA MELRIC – 8th of 16 in a 2800m Cholet Class F conditioner earlier this month. Reconfigured for the occasion and with application can figure prominently
  49. JERONIMO DU CAUX – Sanctioned on comeback in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E on 19 February. Out of the picture in both Enghien appearances and is not about to buck the trend
  50. JAKABINO – Good 3rd of 13 in a 2700m Class E across town on 2 February. Should take well to new profile and has every chance of making the frame
  51. JUSTE DU GERS – Useful mare that finished last but one on re-entry in a 3000m Class E at Nantes 3 weeks ago. Is still in conditioning mode though and best to hold off
Summary: Good winner across town last month, JAMAIS (8) returns to a track he appreciates and with Eric Raffin in the bike this time can repeat. They will still be up against the ever-consistent JOB DE CHOISEL (4) who also returned to winning ways last month, and the wonderfully-engaged JAKABINO (15) who defied his odds at Vincennes last time out. JOKER CASTILUANNE (1) is clearly close to his race, pleased on his sole start at the venue, and will be competitive for a podium place.

    C5 – PRIX DE GAGNY – 2875m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000
  52. IRMYLA DE SOMMAIRE – 4th of 18 in a 2625m Cherbourg Class F on 2 March. Has ample ability but would be preferred barefoot at a lower level
  53. INHERIT – Would have finished closer than 4th of 16 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D on 9 February had he been afforded a run. Thrives with the day’s driver and could even win this
  54. IMPERIAL DURABUTIN – Hardy and versatile trotter that was surprisingly sanctioned in a 2700m Class D across town on 23 January. Has had ample time to recalibrate and must be taken seriously
  55. IN LOVE DE JIEL – Would have finished in the money had he not briefly lost his action behind HETRE D’OURVILLE (6) in a 2850m Laval Class D a month back. Has won 2 of 4 Enghien starts and must not be overlooked
  56. ILLUSION D’AMOUR – Ran a comfortable 2nd of 10 in a 2100m Vincennes Class D on 4 February. Goes well for Matthieu Abrivard and has the wherewithal to contest the finish. Chance
  57. HETRE D’OURVILLE – Respectable but never threatening 7th of 15 in a 2100m Vincennes Class D early this month. In the frame in 2 of 3 here but looks more a minor place prospect this time around
  58. HIMBERLAND – Surprising 3rd of 10 in a 2950m Toulouse Class E a week ago. Pitted against considerably better this time and chances limited
  59. IDEAL DE JEAN – Ran 2nd over 2925m before coming 4th of 13 in a 2100m Cagnes Class D a fortnight ago. Mathieu Mottier in the bike again and, in this company, should have the measure of most
  60. HECTOR DE BASSIERE – 10th of 14, on first start since the break, in a 2850m Laval Class D a fortnight ago. Barefoot this time but is not the biggest Enghien fan and others preferred
  61. INSTRUCTOR – Gave a good account on last week’s re-entry, coming 4th of 11 over course and distance. Well-entered, has never disappointed at Enghien, and will be competitive for a step on the podium
  62. IRIS DES ROSEAUX – Did not enjoy the best of luck when 9th of 15 on comeback in a 2450m Caen Class D last week. Is plainly in shape though and can win this if kept out of trouble
Summary: Consistently-performant when barefoot and fit, the superbly-engaged IRIS DES ROSEAUX (11) makes his Enghien debut with every chance of making it a successful one. That said, Clément Duvaldestin will still want to keep a close eye on a barefoot ILLUSION D’AMOUR (5) who has been knocking at the door recently, and the tough IDEAL DE JEAN (8) who has given a good account of himself over recent months. Winner of his only Enghien race, INHERIT (2) has never failed to fire for Eric Raffin and must not be underestimated.

    C6 – PRIX DE JANVAL – 2875m (a2m) – Class F Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 12,000
  63. IGGY DE VAUVERT – Has not been seen out since being sanctioned in a 2650m Carpentras Class H ten months ago and has nothing to contribute
  64. JOLIE NANA – Encouraging 4th of 15 in a 2500m Class F at Bihorel-lès-Rouen last Sunday. Out of the picture in last 6 Enghien starts however and will struggle to make her mark
  65. JAFAR DE FAEL – Ran 3rd in a Vincennes claimer before finishing 8th of 14 in a 2200m Caen Class E last week. Enjoys a front-row break and should be good enough to trot his way onto the podium
  66. GORDON PAGUERIE – Faulted in a 2575m Agen amateurs Class F on 10 February. Complicated but has decent amateur references and on good behaviour can get in on the action
  67. HEIKO VANCEEN – Left a good impression after being sanctioned in a 2825m Cordemais Class E a fortnight ago. Pleased late-January on amateur bow and even though incurring the handicap must still be afforded respect
  68. GENTLEMEN GOLFEUR – Sanctioned on re-entry in a 2500m Class E at La Rochelle on 2 March. Is confirmed in the category and, with application, can challenge for a place in the frame
  69. GRYFFONDOR DU POLI – Runner-up in his last two, latterly a 2900m Amiens amateurs Class F last week. Thrives at Enghien and is thoroughly capable of imposing
  70. FIRST DE ROUGEMONT – Last of 11 in a 2700m Class E at Le Croise-Laroche last Saturday. Has won over shorter here but still not easy to like
  71. HEMILIO PIERJI – Returns to the amateur category after having run 9th of 16 in a 2450m Caen Class D last Monday. Boasts solid amateur credentials and even though shod still looks a player
  72. HORACIO DE CERISY – Useful sort but has not been seen out since running 9th of 11 in a 2725m Graignes Class E on 30 December. Shoes on and no threat
  73. JAZZ DE PERVENCHE – Takes first competitive steps in the amateur division after finishing 9th of 14 in a 2850m Vincennes Class C and could well with this if Emilie Duperche keeps his mind on the game
Summary: Confirmed at the venue, reconfigured, and taking a big dip in category, JAZZ DE PERVENCHE (11) has solid Enghien references, enjoys an entry made in heaven, and can post a first victory since November 2022. GRYFFONDOR DU POLI (7), on the other hand, has made a name for himself in the amateur division, reverts to a successful formula, and has not once failed to fire here. Reliability may not be his strong suit but JAFAR DE FAEL (3) is never far from surprising, sports 4 pads for the occasion, and the 25m head-start will do her prospects no disservice. GENTLEMEN GOLFEUR (6) is not the easiest to manage but has ample ability and on good behaviour will not be far off the mark.

  74. LYNX ATOUT – 5th of 9 to LUCAS DE TOURNAI (4) in a 2700m Vincennes Class D on 17 February and can expect to have few friends
  75. LUSSABEAU – Last but one to LUCAS DE TOURNAI (4) in a 2700m Vincennes Class D on 17 February and has no realistic chance
  76. L’APOGEE IMPERIAL – 5th of 10 to LUKAS D’OLIVERIE (8) in a 2175m Vincennes Class C on 8 February. Has shown a liking for Enghien, has ample untapped potential, and is unlikely to go down easily
  77. LUCAS DE TOURNAI – Got off the mark, at 15th time of asking, in a 2700m Vincennes Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Takes a notable step up in category though and chances limited
  78. LIO RENKA – Good, consistent filly making first start since coming 4th of 9 finishers, a place behind LEONARD DU CLOS (6), in a 2175m Vincennes Class B on 25 January. Is proven in good company and looks dangerous
  79. LEONARD DU CLOS – 3rd of 9 finishers in a 2175m Vincennes Class B on 25 January. Has taken well to racing barefoot, won his only start at the venue, and will not be available at 83/1 this time around
  80. LABEL DE LARRE – Last of 8 when preparing for this in a 2850m Vincennes harness Class B on 26 February. Appreciates Enghien, races barefoot for first time, and must be respected
  81. LUKAS D’OLIVERIE – Made short work of a 2175m Vincennes Class C on 8 February. Has yet to deliver at Enghien but in current form is easy to like for the double
Summary: Enjoying something of a renaissance since starting to race barefoot, LUKAS D’OLIVERIE (8) benefits from a golden entry and has the wherewithal to repeat last month’s Vincennes triumph. LEONARD DU CLOS (6) finished just ahead of LIO RENKA (5) across town late-January but Mathieu Mottier will be intent on turning the tables and even challenging for victory. L’APOGEE IMPERIAL (3) consistently gives his best, is confirmed at Enghien, and can finish in the mix.

  82. GYS – 4th of 14 in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 23 February. Has been hard to fault this winter and although placed only once in 3 here must still be considered a contender
  83. CHARMY CHARLY AS – 8th of 14 behind GYS (1) in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 23 February. Placed on only Enghien run and from the 2-spot can give GIMS DU PLESSIS (7) a run for his money
  84. HOLD UP DU DIGEON – Pleasant 4th of 10 finishers in a 2450m Caen Class D earlier this month. Reverts to a previous formula and while not a priority, he has been handed an excellent draw and can play a small part
  85. GIVE ME – Undeniably talented but has not been seen out since coming 3rd of 16 in a 2850m Parilly Class D last September and will need the race
  86. GREZ – Starts for the first time since coming 3rd of 16 in a 2850m Lyon-Parilly Class D last September. Shoes on for re-entry but breaking from the 5-spot will do his chances no harm
  87. HIGH PROPULSION – Drops in category after running 4th of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class B on 7 February. Will not be intimidated by the males here and is well-placed to give this a good go. Place chance
  88. GIMS DU PLESSIS – Faces first objective of the year after running 10th of 14 in a 2825m Cordemais Class D on re-entry 2 weeks ago. Ran 2nd in good company on lone Enghien start and can make this his own
  89. HEMMA DE BRIKVIL – Unraced since being sanctioned in a 2850m Vincennes Class C on 18 December. Is a serious mare though, loves Enghien conditions, and despite the wide draw is not going to be far off the mark
  90. GAYLORD AM – Won at Eskilstuna before finishing lacklustre 11th of 13 finishers behind GREZ (5) in a 2700m Vincennes Class C on 1 March. Not ideally-drawn this time but has moved yards and will not be far from the action if he defies the draw
  91. G.K.JUSTUS – Won over 2100m at Vincennes before finishing 5th of 6 in a 2175m monte Class D at the same venue 2 weeks ago. Poorly-drawn though and in this company will have his work cut out
  92. CHERRY TOP – 9th of 15, on return to competition, in a 2100m Vincennes Class D late last month. Is proven here but has little else going for him otherwise
  93. BAHIA DEL CIRCEO – 10th of 13 finishers behind GREZ (5) in a 2700m Vincennes Class C on 1 March. Shoes on again and poses no danger
  94. HIGH FIRE DAIRPET – Second of 15 in a 2925m Cagnes Class B a fortnight ago. Has solid Enghien credentials but the draw will do nothing for his prospects
  95. DOWHATYOUDODOWELL – Makes first appearance since being sanctioned in a 2850m Vincennes monte Class B late-November. Has other priorities and can be ruled out
  96. HISA DU MARGAS – 5th of 15 in a 2450m Caen Class D last week. Pulled a shocking number though and would be preferred shod to preference
  97. ENJOY THE GAME – Sanctioned in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 23 February. Showed his form though that day and can play a role if François Lagadeuc successfully navigates the start
Summary: An absolute dynamo when racing barefoot, GIMS DU PLESSIS (7) is forced to break wide here but simply thrives with Eric Raffin and can expect the lion’s share of support. Leading the opposition, CHARMY CHARLY AS (2) will appreciate returning to a flatter track, while GYS (1) is not far off winning another. HIGH PROPULSION (6) was superb at Vincennes during the winter and even though up against the boys this time, she is still easy to recommend. Very much at home here, HEMMA DE BRIKVIL (8) has been handed a tough draw but still looks competitively well-in.

  7. MERINDOL – Produced a good debut when runner-up in Class F at Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne over 2675m o2150m on 7 Marchn 2 March. Can go one better
  8. MIDDLE STAR – Unreliable but did run well when third in Class E at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2925, on 18 February. Has a winning chance
  9. MOON TURGOT – Not disgraced when 5th in Class D at Saint-Galmier over 2600m on 5 March- Should fight out the finish
  10. MILOU DE CAZOULENE – A winner on debut in Class F at Hyeres over 2050m on 9 February. Tries a lot further but can follow up
  11. MALIDA – A winner on debut but has only been modest since and finished 9th last time out in a Class D Mounted race at Vincennes over 2200m on 11 December. Capable of a surprise
Summary: MIRAGE QUICK (3) is a full brother to the smart Kalmia Quick and should make a bold bid at scoring for trainer Romain Derieux. MIMYKER GUILLERVIL (2) qualified in a good time at Caen and would not be a surprise winner. MALIDA (11) is clearly better than her run under the saddle suggest and can contest the finish. MOOREA BOND (4) is yet another that qualified at Caen in a promising style and is also capable of getting involved with the finish.
