R1 CAGNES-SUR-MER [L-H]
C1 – PRIX JULES ROUCAYROL – 2925m (a2m) – Class B – Harness – EUR € 49,000
- HAIDA SAUTONNE – Encouraged here early last month but subsequently failed to confirm, and with shoes fitted can be confidently ruled out
- HOOPER DES CHASSES – Surprised in a Class C here before being eliminated at Saint-Galmier, and has no possible chance
- HONEY KING – Gives a respectable account for the most part but bit off more than he could chew in 28 January race of reference, and with shoes on this time will have nothing to contribute
- GOLDEN VISAIS – Last of 12 finishers in Gr.3 Prix de Vincennes here late last month. Is confirmed at the venue but would have better prospects at a lower level
- ICARE DU BERYL – Got back in the game in a Bordeaux Class C 2.5 weeks ago. Has form racing left-handed but cannot be considered a priority
- ENJOY THE GAME – Disappointing in Paris before running 9th behind HEROS DES MOTTES (10) in Gr.3 Prix de Vincennes here a fortnight ago. Benjamin Rochard drafted in for the occasion and, in this category, can make first 5
- HARRY LE BEAU – Returns to a more reasonable level after coming 8th in Gr.3 Prix de Vincennes over course and distance a fortnight ago, but still has more to find
- GREAT OF MADRIK – Has pleased in last 2 starts under these conditions. Takes on a better bunch this time, but is always game and will be competitive when it matters
- FUTUR DU CHENE – Produced a 20-1 surprise when victorious in a Class B over course and distance in late-December, but was unthreatening when eliminated here next time and is unlikely to create another upset
- HEROS DES MOTTES – Sprang a 123-1 surprise when 6th in Gr.3 Prix de Vincennes over course and distance a fortnight ago. Is unlikely to repeat but races barefoot and will generate a bit more interest this time around
- FEMTO DE VAUVERT – Ran 3rd in a Vincennes Class B before taking on difficult conditions at Agen last month. Is strangely new to Cagnes aged 11, but is patently in fine shape and is unlikely to be too far off the mark
- INDIGO DE FONTAINE – Close 2nd in a Vincennes Class B, prior to being eliminated a fortnight back when competitive for a spot in the frame. Should find conditions here to his liking and can wrap this up if Leo Abrivard keeps him trotting
- IDEAL SAN LEANDRO – Back at a track he likes after being conditioned at Agen last month. Enjoys a better entry this time and Vincent Cabos will be eager to capitalise
- INDUS VAL – Close 5th in Gr.3 Prix de Brest in Paris last month despite enduring some misfortune. With a clear run this time, could well get his nose in front
- ILLUSION JIPAD – Back in the harness code after 2 failed attempts under the saddle. Has nothing to prove at this level, is close to the limit of earnings, and can bring the fight to INDIGO DE FONTAINE (12)
Summary: Clearly in excellent form but a bit too spirited at Vincennes a fortnight ago, INDIGO DE FONTAINE (12) makes his first appearance on the Riviera and, with application, can make it a victorious one. ILLUSION JIPAD (15) is not the easiest to handle either but she placed in a Gr.3 on her sole Cagnes start and the good entry will do her prospects no harm. INDUS VAL (14) has been acquitting himself competitively in Paris and, under these conditions, can trot his way into the frame. IDEAL SAN LEANDRO (13) has a race under his belt, returns to a venue he appreciates, and should logically finish close. Barefoot for his first real objective of the new year, FEMTO DE VAUVERT (11) makes his Cagnes bow in better shape than his Agen run would imply and must be considered a decent first-5 prospect.

C2 – PRIX SCARLET TURGOT – 2925m (a2m) – Class E – Mounted – EUR € 33,000 - JINGALO BABEL – Made a pleasant return to the mainland but has looked ordinary since and debuts in the monte code with nothing to contribute
- JAZZISSIME – Fine campaigner making first appearance since coming 4th, a place behind JAVA D’ECAJEUL (4), in a Class D under these conditions on 23 December. Has won 3 times over 2925m here and looks capable of making the frame once again
- JOKER DU MIDI – No slouch on a good day but is still being conditioned following his spell and best to keep one’s powder dry
- JAVA D’ECAJEUL – In the frame in her last 2 ridden starts. Did not enjoy the best of trips last time here but still has the wherewithal to trot her way onto the podium
- KRIS MARTIN – Has not been seen under the saddle since last October. Has shown potential though, presents solid Cagnes references, and can get in on the action if currently anywhere close to his mark
- JOKE DE CHENU – Back under the saddle after a pair of harness conditioners. Has not been as sharp as she was last spring but will be barefoot for her first goal of the new year and could well get a look in
- HEPICETOU – Flattering 4th in a Class E at Marseille-Vivaux last month before losing his action in Bordeaux, and can be ruled out
- JOLI MANNEQUIN – Has yet to deliver under the saddle but made a convincing harness comeback late last month and will be barefoot this time. First 5
- KING DRY – Has raced just twice in this discipline but has yet to show any particular flair. Is clearly capable in the other code but cannot be considered a player
- KOALA – Stormed up in a Vincennes Class C on 21 December before repeating mid-January in better company. Is head-and-shoulders better than the field and, barring force majeure, should have this in the bag
Summary: An absolute steamroller when he can keep his action together, KOALA (10) enjoys a good entry and can finally pick up his hat-trick and simultaneously open his Cagnes account. He will be opposed though by JAVA D’ECAJEUL (4) who will be back barefoot after being conditioned here late last month, and JAZZISSIME (2) who seldom disappoints in this branch of the business. KRIS MARTIN (5) has been reconfigured for his return to the monte discipline and it is just a question of time before he comes good again.

C3 – PRIX ANDRE ROUZAUD – 2925m (a2m) – Class B – Harness – EUR € 27,000 - NINA TIME – Showed improvement last Saturday when 2nd in a Class D over course and distance, however at this level may struggle to make her presence felt
- NARKOS DU CHATAULT – Has shown marked improvement since starting to race with pads, latterly 2nd to NICE TO SEE YOU (8) in a Class C over course and distance 2 weeks ago. Faces a tougher challenge this time but should still have the capacity to finish in the money
- NALA DE SMARVES – Runner-up to NASSANDRA (5) mid-January prior to being eliminated here 2 weeks ago, but nevertheless showed his form and, with application, can contest the finish
- NORIA DE BERTRANGE – 4th in 28 January race of reference after having imposed here earlier in the month, but has no references at this distance and remains a likely outsider
- NASSANDRA – Takes a step up in category after winning 2 straight under these conditions, but has yet to be properly tested and is unlikely to be this time either
- NOT ALONE – Honest filly that lost her maiden tag in a Toulouse Class D 3 weeks ago, but is being aimed too high this time
- NADIR – Takes his chances on the Riviera after 3 solid starts to date. Is unraced for almost 2 months but will have been prepared for this and looks thoroughly capable of imposing
- NICE TO SEE YOU – Made his Cagnes debut a successful one 2 weeks ago when easily securing a Class C over course and distance. In marginally better company this time but is still a leading player
Summary: Most convincing winner over course and distance first time out, NASSANDRA (5) went on to stylishly confirm in mid-January, and is very easy to like for the hat-trick. NADIR (7) passed his left-handed test over the Vincennes inner track last time out and makes his Cagnes bow with what appears to be a good hand to play. Well-engaged, and winner under these conditions a fortnight ago, NICE TO SEE YOU (8) has earned the right to take his chances here and with Gabriele Gelormini back in the bike, is unlikely to disappoint.

C4 – PRIX DE SETUBAL – 2925m (a2m) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 22,000 - LOULIE DE GUEZ – Can trot, and placed here last month in a claimer, but in this company will be taking on too much
- LADY BLACK ROCHEL – Kicked the winter off superbly here but out of the picture in last 2. Is sent back out quick enough though and perhaps Danny Brouwer knows something we don’t. Gamble
- LADY FLO DE MAX – Unconvincing in 2 starts so far this year. Front pads fitted this time but still not easy to recommend
- LIKE THAT – Outclassed the other mares in the field when 5th in a 2150m Class E here early last month. Has had ample time to get back to her best and, with Gabriele Gelormini in the bike, can open her 2026 account
- LOLITA DE RICO – Went into her break last September following 4 straight eliminations. Races shod for comeback and can be confidently disregarded
- LAZULITE GEDE – Handy sort that will have come on for her comeback run here last week, and with shoes off this time, should have the wherewithal to finish in the mix
- LUXY BLUE – No slouch on a good day and is confirmed here. Will be barefoot following her Lyon re-entry run and, although not a priority, is still capable of making first 5
- LAMIA DU VIVIER – Has yet to deliver since being stepped up in category. Went out favourite last time, but there is no smoke without fire, and must be taken ver seriously
- LIBERTE DU RIB – Pleasantly surprising 2nd in a 2150m Class E here 9 days ago. Has no references at this distance but, considering the entry, is easy to like for a place on the podium
Summary: Winner at Marseille-Vivaux in late-November, LIKE THAT (4) went on to run 5th over shorter here early last month, and in the absence of the boys this time, looks the horse to beat. LAMIA DU VIVIER (8) is similarly back among her own sex this time, and is significantly better than her latest performance would suggest. LIBERTE DU RIB (9) gave a fine account on her re-entry run here earlier this month and, ideally-entered this time, is not incapable of repeating. LAZULITE GEDE (6) returns to racing barefoot after a much-needed return run and, if sufficiently-fit, can contest a place in the frame.

C5 – PRIX HENRI CALLIER – 2925m (a2m) – Gr3 – Harness – EUR € 47,000 - MANHATTAN ROUSSAC – Respectable but unthreatening 4th in 21 January race of reference and is unlikely to create an upset
- MILORD DE BUY – Picked up on re-entry here 9 days ago where he left off in the autumn, running 2nd again, this time to MONA D’AVRIL (7) in a 2150m Class C. Front shoes off for the first time and even though in better company, is still worth keeping an eye on
- MADE IN CARLESS – Has not been seen since completing the Cagnes double on 27 December. Is taking on too much this time however
- MAESTRIA GALAA – Moderate filly that ran last of 5 finishers in Gr.3 Prix des Ancolies over course and distance on 21 January, and would be preferred at a lower level
- MAFIATIME DUCAMPUS – Convincing winner of a Class A over course and distance before losing his action in Gr.3 Prix des Ancolies 3 weeks ago. Sports a new formula this time and Kristof Depuydt will be in the bike. Attention
- MISTRAL LOMIG – Disappointing on the whole this winter, most recently last of 8 in a Class B here early last month. Shoes back on and not a concern
- MONA D’AVRIL – Took no time opening her Cagnes account, most recently beating the boys in a 2150m Class C here last week. Goes barefoot again and is unlikely to let the side down
- MAITRE D’HOULBEC – Useful for the most part and 4th in a Vincennes Class B on 18 January. Has form here and from the front row can give this a good go
- MAASAI – Courageous winner of a Class B under these conditions on 8 January but was eliminated early in Gr.3 Prix des Ancolies over course and distance on 21 January a fortnight later. Is well in on front line and can pick up a cheque
- MISTER BARRA – Good, consistent type that has been knocking at the door for some time. Was a beaten 3rd in 21 January race of reference but should not be written off
- MISTRAL DU BOIS – Has shown a different side to himself this winter, winning 2 straight at Vincennes, most recently a 2700m Class A in late-December. Comes here fresh and will be expected to defy the handicap and contest the finish
- MANHATTAN EMGE – Classy colt with an enviable strike-rate. Will be shod as he was when winning Gr.3 Prix des Ancolies over course and distance on 21 January. 25m worse off this time but can still repeat
Summary: Eye-catching winner of the Gr.3 Prix des Ancolies here last month, MANHATTAN EMGE (12) looks a marginally better bet than MISTRAL DU BOIS (11) who makes his Cagnes bow on a hat-trick. MONA D’AVRIL (7) has taken a particular liking to Cagnes-sur-Mer and the 25m head-start will only enhance her already good prospects. A winner here in late-December before being eliminated when full of running next time, MAFIATIME DUCAMPUS (5) has been reconfigured and will be expected to put things right.

C6 – PRIX DE PORTO – 2925m (a2m) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 26,000 - JAGUAR GEDE – Gives a good account for the most part but failed to deliver in an amateurs Class G over course and distance early last week and will need to raise his game
- JOYEUX D’OUXY – Won 3 in a row before losing his action in a 2700m amateurs Class G at Lyon-La Soie on 25 January. Sports a new formula and, with his trainer back in the bike, can set the record straight
- JARNAC DE L’ITON – Ran 2nd in an amateur event under these conditions in December. Was found wanting somewhat last time out, but should not be too hastily-condemned
- ILLUSTRE BLUE – Capable on a good day and is plainly in form, but has been reconfigured and others easier to back
- JANTALINE – Has been acquitting herself well here lately but is being conditioned this time and best to hold off
- IBANA DE MONTI – Put 3 eliminations behind her when 4th behind JOYAUX DU CHENE (8) in an amateurs Class F here last Saturday. Runs barefoot this time but still not easy to recommend
- JAIZKIBEL – Made short work of a 2650m Class F at Marseille-Vivaux on 18 January. Is pitted against better this time but starts in front and looks competitive for a place in the picture
- JOYAUX DU CHENE – Nicely-engaged here, and has been excelling in the claiming and amateur divisions, but in this company may just find the going a bit too tough
- JUST PRETTY ONE – Has struggled to express herself recently but is plainly in competition-mode; she benefits from an entry made-in-heaven, and Benjamin Rochard will be keen to make hay
- JIQUEL – Moderate element that has yet to get into his stride this term and, with shoes fitted, can be ignored
- JALAPENO – Could well have won a Class F at Marseille-Vivaux on 18 January had he got off on the right foot. Has form here and, despite the initial handicap, will have a claim on the race
- INTREPIDE TURGOT – Got straight down to business on return to Cagnes-sur-Mer 3 weeks ago, clinching a 2150m Class E. Is forced to incur the penalty but is patently in rude health and is unlikely to return home to Italy empty-handed
- ICARE DUNGY – Has been exceptional since early-November and form is not in question. Is new to the venue, and starts with a 25m handicap, and while unlikely to win this, should nevertheless prove competitive for a first-5 payout
Summary: Most impressive in Marseille last month after having been eliminated early, JALAPENO (11) clearly showed that he is close to his race and even from the back line, can win this. JAIZKIBEL (7) imposed with ease that day and should again figure prominently, but may first have to defer to JOYEUX D’OUXY (2) who was denied the 4-timer when eliminated in Lyon, and the terrifically-engaged and barefoot JUST PRETTY ONE (9) who will benefit from a Benjamin Rochard drive for the occasion.

C7 – PRIX DE LODEVE – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 29,000 - LINNA DE VANDEL – Gave a good account to run 2nd to LASKO DES FORGES (3) in a Class D over course and distance early this month. Leo Abrivard will be out for revenge and his mare will not go down without a fight
- LAPS GEDE – Placed here in early-January but failed to confirm 3 weeks ago. Reverts to an earlier formula and, with application, can make first 5
- LASKO DES FORGES – Made up for January elimination when easily winning a Class D over track and trip on 3 February. Upset a few apple-carts that day and has every chance of doing so once more
- LE REVE D’OLMEN – Unlucky 6th to LASKO DES FORGES (3) in a Class D over course and distance early this month. Trainer back in the bike and will have his chances if he keeps his charge out of trouble
- LEDZEP – Made the frame in 2 here before running 4th in a Toulouse Class C in mid-January. Is plainly close to his race and, while unlikely to get his nose in front, is eminently capable of finishing close
- LUMIZIANA – Disappointing on the whole for past 10 months and can be confidently disregarded
- LAGO DE PERVENCHE – Unraced since being disqualified from 4th in a Class D over course and distance 2 months ago, and with shoes on can be passed over
- LAZAN DE PASSIEU – Won 3 on the trot before coming 5th to LASKO DES FORGES (3) in 3 February race of reference, and will have more to find
Summary: It took some time, and a number of near misses, but LASKO DES FORGES (3) got back in the winners’ enclosure last week when comfortably winning a Class D over course and distance, and will not be sent out at 14-1 this time. LINNA DE VANDEL (1) ran 2nd to him that day, on her first start at the venue, and looks the main threat, although LE REVE D’OLMEN (4) was very unlucky and Christophe Martens will be out to put things right.
SELECTIONS

C8 – PRIX DE GOLEGA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 38,000 - JINGLE LOVER – Got back in the winners’ circle on 23 December after routing a 2925m Class E here, and it would be no surprise if he were to stay unbeaten at the venue
- IDEM JIHEM – Has been disappointing in both Paris and the Riviera this winter. Nicely-placed in front but still not a contender
- INCAHUASI – Rewarded with victory in a 2150m Class E here on 25 January. Faces a better lot this time but has been handed an excellent draw and should prove competitive at the business end of the race
- JOURNEY OF DREAM – Did everything right 2 weeks ago when successful on first goal of the new year, dominating a 2925m Class D here. Has a lot going for him this time and will be well-backed to double his money
- IBIZA EVENING – Produced something of a surprise when victorious in a 2925m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Is new to 2700m here and unlikely to repeat, but is well-placed in front and can pick up some prizemoney
- I AM DES MOTTES – Valiant 4th in a Class D against younger horses here a fortnight ago, but in this company will have too much to do
- ISEO DE LOU – Twice runner-up over 2925m here, latterly to JOURNEY OF DREAM (4) in a Class D 2 weeks ago. Starts wide on front line but still has a claim on a place in the frame
- ILLUSTRE FERM – Gave a good account when 3rd to JOURNEY OF DREAM (4) in a 2925m Class D here 2 weeks ago. Forced to break wide but seldom disappoints with David Bekaert and is unlikely to be far from the action
- HARENA DE MARZY – Not the worst horse here but has been eliminated in 3 of last 4, and the draw only compounds matters
- HARING OKINA – Clearly capable but is not easy to use, and recent performances have done nothing to reassure
- JAURESS DE CANI – Has not put a foot wrong at Cagnes this winter, but races shod for the occasion and will have other priorities
- JORLANDO – Won 2 in a row here, including over 2700m, before being eliminated in 28 January race of reference. Has been accorded a number on the back line but still looks a serious proposition
- FARCEUR DE L’INAM – Returns to racing shod after failing to deliver at a lower level last week and will have nothing to offer
- HELICE DU TREZON – Fine mare going barefoot for first time this term. Has been handed a rough number, takes on a better bunch than usual, but is still not to be overlooked
Summary: Competitive more often than not when barefoot, JOURNEY OF DREAM (4) comfortably imposed here a fortnight ago, and from the 4-spot has a realistic chance of repeating. Runner-up to him that day, ISEO DE LOU (7) again looks competitive, but may first have to see off JINGLE LOVER (1), who met no opposition en route to victory here just before Christmas, and JORLANDO (12) who was denied the hat-trick after badly-negotiating the turn for home in the race of reference.

C1 – PRIX DES PELTRAIS – 3000m (a2m) – TURF – Condition – Flat – EUR € 22,000
- LESTER – Placed over hurdles on the last two runs, a win before that on the flat over 2500m in a conditions race at Jarnac on September 28th. Others preferred
- LES VALLONS – Three unplaced runs of late, the latter over 2400m at Lignieres on November 29th in a conditions race. Hard to fancy
- MY LOVE D ATHOM – He won on his sole start over 2300m at Le Mans on the flat on September 12th. Open to progress and is hard to ignore
- LEBRIO DES MOTTES – Tries the flat today, decent 2nd two runs back over 4400m at Auteuil in a Grade 3 chase in May last year. One to pay attention to
- MABRISKA – Unplaced last time, a win before that over 2400m on May 25th in a conditions race at Vichy. Leading contender
- LEAKA – Recent success over 2900m in a conditions race on November 9th at Durtal. She has scope for improvement and can make the frame
- MALINE DE GRISSAY – Placed on all five starts, 4th on the last start over 2900m at Durtal in a conditions race on February 1st. Out again quickly and can be considered
- MERCI ROYAL – Unraced gelding by Nirvana Du Berlais, the dam won 1 race. Nice profile and from a good stable that will have him well prepared. One to watch in the betting for clues
- LEXIE DU LANNIER – Placed 3rd on her last two runs, the latter over 2400m at Fougeres on May 1st in a conditions race. Unlikely to featuren
- MA PTITE NINA – Unplaced on the one run over 3550m at Fontainebleau on December 2nd over hurdles. Tries the flat and is best watched
Summary: MABRISKA (5) has only one blemish from three starts. She won her first two races and was unplaced on November 22nd in a Group 1 AQ race. Back down in grade she can be hard to beat. Her main threat could be LEBRIO DES MOTTES (4), who failed to finish last time out at Pau on January 20th, but was second in a Grade 3 chase before that at Auteuil in May last year. He makes his flat debut. MY LOVE D ATHOM (3) won on debut at Le Mans last September and will step forward from that. LEAKA (6) heads the rest.

- L’AMIRAL D’AINAY – Placed 4th over 3800m in a handicap chase at Nantes on October 15th. Faces a stiff task in a stronger race
- LIEUTENANT PLAYER – Finished 6th over 3900m at Pau in a Class 2 race on January 13th. He won over fences in November in a Class 4 event. Has work to do in a better race
- LALOI – Placed 3rd last time over 3900m at Compiegne on November 11th in a Class 2 chase. Can be a leading contender
- LEGEND RACE – Finished 5th on his last run over 3800 at this track in a Class 2 chase on December 6th. Others seem to be better equipped
- LET US BREATHE – Placed 4th over 3700m at Pau in a Class 3 chase on January 23rd. Ought to be involved in the shake-up
- BRAVE EVAN – Unplaced last time over 3400m in a Class 4 handicap at Deauville on December 12th. Others seem to be more likely to succeed
- LINGOT DE MEE – Unplaced over fences last time, 2nd before that on December 10th over 3500m in a Class 2 hurdle. One to keep onside
- BLACKBIRD – Two placed runs last year, the latter when 3rd over 3900m at Pau in a Class 1 chase on October 31st. Can improve from that effort and looks hard to beat
- CADELO – Unplaced last time, a win before that over 3900m at Bordeaux Le Bouscat in a Class 2 handicap hurdle on October 14th. Second try over fences and warrants respect
Summary: BLACKBIRD (9) was placed on both starts last year, the latest when third at Pau in a Class 1 chase in late October. He can be expected to be too smart for today’s rivals. LINGOT DE MEE (8) can be forgiven for his last start over fences and looks like the main danger, with a better round of jumping expected. LALOI (4)has won over fences and is dangerous to rule out of the top three. CADELO (10) is also capable of getting involved at the finish.

- SOIREE FILLES – Unplaced last time over 3400m at Dieppe in a Class 3 hurdle on August 31st. Might find a few of these too smart
- MUSISTAR – Unraced filly by Cloth Of Stars, the dam won 4 races. Stable runners are well -tuned and know what is required normally on debut. The betting can guide
- SUD AFRICAINE – Unraced filly by Joshua Tree, the dam was placed on the sole start over hurdles. One to watch in the betting exchanges for any support
- MOON LIGHT ALLEN – Filly on debut by Ivanhowe, the dam won 3 races. Nice profile and from a shrewd trainer who knows the time of day. One to keep onside
- GOLDIE NOLIMIT – Two unplaced efforts so far, the latter over 3500m at Pau in a Class 4 hurdle on January 11th. Unlikely to feature
Summary: MILLARES (1) has strong credentials after a pleasing fourth in a Class 2 hurdle at Auteuil on her latest start. This lightly raced filly looks to have plenty more to come and can get off the mark here. She may have to see off the unraced IT’S MILANNA (10), who comes from a leading yard capable of readying a newcomer to strike first time out. MUSISTAR (12) is out of a useful mare who won four races and is worth a check in the betting market, while MOON LIGHT ALLEN (14) is another debutant to watch for market support.
