French Selections Friday 7th

R1 CABOURG [R-H]

C1 – PRIX DES CEDRES – 2725m (a1m1/2) – – Harness – EUR € 29,000

  1. KARBONE CASH – Moderate element with just the one race in him since the spring break. Has never produced the goods at this level and is unlikely to start now
  2. KENTUCKY SOMOLLI – Unplaced in a Class E at Lisieux over 2,725m on 15 July after having imposed at Vitre and Avranches. Excels at Cabourg, has pulled a good number, and must be taken seriously
  3. KANT – Third in a Class F at Chatelaillon over 2,500m on 27 July. Caught the eye that day and from the 3 slot can apply the pressure on KITTS ET NEVIS (4)
  4. KITTS ET NEVIS – Tenacious winner of a Class E at Amiens over 2,900m on 29 July. Has yet to deliver at Cabourg but in current form is easy to like for the double
  5. KOMEO DU DOME – Successful in a Class E at Clairefontaine over 2,900m on 19 July, making it 2 on the trot. Would be preferred on turf but still has the wherewithal to secure the three-timer
  6. KID PARKER – Sports 4 pads for the first time after being eliminated at Pornichet a fortnight ago. Did show his form at Le Croise-Laroche on penultimate outing though and will have his supporters
  7. JIDEO STREET – Modest trotter that has picked up this summer where he left off in February. Goes barefoot this time but still not a concern
  8. KALAMITY DE CHENU – Unplaced in a Class F at Pornichet over 2,725m on 23 July, her first appearance for 4 months. Is still being conditioned and can be passed over
  9. KENOR DESBOIS – Won a Class E over 2750m here a fortnight ago before being eliminated in an Enghien Class D a week later. Will appreciate returning to racing clockwise and should not be underestimated
  10. KRYSTAL DU RUEL – Completely out of the picture since imposing at Meslay-du-Maine in April. Starts on back line and will have little to contribute
  11. KNOCK OUT – Has ability but is never far from losing his action. Eliminated in 2 of 3 Cabourg starts and is not an obvious choice
Summary: KITTS ET NEVIS (4) finished third behind KOMEO DU DOME (5) on the turf at Clairefontaine on 19 July before going one better at Amiens 10 days later. The pair can renew rivalry here, with KANT (3), who clocked an excellent 1’12”9 when third over 2500m at La Rochelle last time, able to split them. KENTUCKY SOMOLLI (2) is capable of better, sports modified shoeing, and is worth another chance.

    C2 – PRIX DES LISERONS – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 26,000
  12. KONG – Disqualified last time out in a Class G at Vichy over 1,609m on 4 July. Has otherwise been in good condition, but is being aimed a bit too high
  13. KINGSTON DU MINON – Complicated element that ran 2nd under these conditions on 17 July, 12 days before faulting at Amiens. Is plainly in shape though, is competitively-shod this time, and must be afforded respect
  14. KOLOSSE RHODES – Has not been seen out since being disqualified in a Class F at Le Croise-Laroche over 2,700m on 23 February and is going to need the run
  15. LORD OF THE RINGS – Imposed at Caen mid-June then easily confirmed in a Class F over 2,725m here on 14 July. Is unbeaten with his driver who can justifiably expect to stay so
  16. LE GRAND AMOUR – Ran 3rd at Lisieux mid-July but failed to confirm when eliminated at Biarritz 10 days later. Appreciates Cabourg conditions though and is easy to like for minor honours
  17. LYS PETTEVINIERE – Disappointing at Vichy after having imposed at Fougeres. Encouraged 3 weeks ago though at Ostend and, while not a priority, cannot be discounted
  18. KINO DE LAUMIERE – Unplaced in a Class E Apprentices’ race at Laval over 2,850m on 22 May. Has done nothing noteworthy so far this season and is unlikely to change his ways
  19. L’ARTISTE DE BOMO – Runner-up in a Class E at Biarritz over 2,975m on 25 July, just missing out on the hat-trick. Faces a tougher task this time but should nevertheless hold his own
  20. KSAR UNICK – Finished 6th in a Class E at Lisieux over 2,725m on 15 July. Has looked ordinary since being campaigned in the provinces and can expect to have few takers
  21. L’ONCLE SAM – Handy sort with a pair of conditioners in him since the spring break. Stays shod though and best to keep one’s powder dry
  22. LEONARD DE VINCI – Produced a fine performance to come 3rd in a Class F over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago. Has no penalty to incur this time and can bring the fight to LORD OF THE RINGS (4)
  23. KIMONO JULRY – Lost his action in both starts for his new trainer but has ample ability. Benjamin Rochard gets the nod this time and can finish close if he manages to keep him focused
  24. KOLMI DES EPINES – Delivered a couple of decent performances in the spring but has subsequently come off the boil, lastly well-beaten over 2550m on turf 12 days ago, and others easier to support
  25. KRAC GAILLARD – Fourth in a Class E at Lisieux over 2,725m on 15 July. Is back on track following his Enghien blip, enjoys an excellent entry here, and Yoann Lebourgeois will be keen to make hay
Summary: LORD OF THE RINGS (4) has been impressive in winning both starts this term and can make it four for four with Alexandre Abrivard. LEONARD DE VINCI (11), who caught the eye here on 21 July, looks the one most likely to make him work. Reconfigured for the occasion, KIMONO JULRY (12) has the ability to play a major role if he stays in stride, while a padded KRAC GAILLARD (14) appeals as the pick of the remainder at the limit of earnings.

    C3 – PRIX DES COREOPSIS – 2725m (a1m1/2) – – Harness – EUR € 26,000
  26. L’ETOILE DE ROCHE – Ran 2nd at Laval on just second start back but failed to confirm at Meslay 10 days ago. Is plainly in decent condition though and can play a small role
  27. MAGIE DE CHAHAINS – Finished 2nd in a Class D at Enghien over 2,875m on 11 July after having run 3rd in a Vincennes Class D the previous month. Is confirmed at the venue and the draw and new configuration stand her in good stead
  28. MELOPE DU GOUTIER – Like a horse reborn since starting to race barefoot and should not be condemned for faulting at Enghien late last month. Excels with David Thomain who will be determined to set the record straight. Claim
  29. MARA DU SAPHIR – Finished 4th in a Class D at Enghien over 2,150m on 29 July. Has won her only start at the venue and from the 4 slot will be no pushover
  30. LE RIB – Runner-up in a monte Class E at La Capelle over 2,750m on 24 July. Is plainly at the top of his game but would be preferred under the saddle
  31. LADY FAIRY – Finished 9th in a Class E at Meslay-du-Maine over 2,875m on 28 July 2026. Form has done nothing but regress since winning two on the trot during the spring and we will have little to contribute
  32. MISTRAL JANEIRO – Finished 3rd in a Class D over track and trip on 21 July. Is unlikely to get his nose in front but, similarly shod, can get in on the action
  33. MYSTIC D’AVE – 6th in a Class D over 2,750m here on 31 July. Produced 2 fine efforts over course and distance earlier in the month and even though in better company still merits respect
  34. LUPIN DU RIB – Third in a Class F Apprentices’ race at La Capelle over 2,700m on 24 July. Ran 3rd here 10 days earlier but will race shod this time and others preferred
  35. MISS MELODY PEEL – Non partante
  36. LEADER DE L’AUMOY – Finished 7th in a Class F over 2,750m here on 28 July. Can trot on a good day but in this category will need to find more
  37. MERRY CHRISTMAS – Gave an encouraging account Clairefontaine on 13 July but was unable to confirm three weeks later at Rochefort and can be passed over
  38. LUARIA – Disqualified last time out in a monte Class E at Caen over 2,450m on 30 May. Is here for conditioning sake and has nothing to offer
  39. LEWIS DE GINAI – Disqualified in last 2, the latest a Class E at Laval over 2,850m on 11 June, and others easier to trust
Summary: MELOPE DU GOUTIER (3) made a costly mistake on the home turn at Enghien last time and would probably have played a major role otherwise. With application, however, she could prove hard to beat. Versatile and in excellent form, MISS MELODY PEEL (10) rates the main danger, just ahead of MARA DU SAPHIR (4), who is competitive at this level. MISTRAL JANEIRO (7) acquitted herself well here recently and can again finish close.

    C4 – PRIX BRUNO COQUATRIX – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 33,000
  40. JAINA D’ESSARTS – Won 2 from 3 before being eliminated in a Lisieux Class E in mid-July. Has otherwise been on a good run of form and, with application, can pick up some prizemoney
  41. JOKER DU MATCH – Useful for the most part, but has been out of sorts lately and will first need to reassure
  42. INDY DE MAI – Placed twice during the spring but has since come off the boil, and latest numbers do nothing to inspire confidence
  43. JOLIE QUEEN – Ran 3rd in a Lisieux Class E in mid-July but failed to confirm at Mauquenchy a fortnight ago and can be passed over
  44. IL MIO – Moderate individual that was well beaten in a Class F on turf last Saturday and will have nothing to offer
  45. JOCKEY – Eliminated in last 2, latterly a Class F at Le Mans 3.5 weeks ago. Is hard to fault when focused though and is reunited with Yoann Lebourgeois who won with him at Graignes. Attention
  46. JAZERANE – Fourth in a Class F at Royan-La Palmyre over 2,475m on 19 July. Is never the easiest of horses to gauge but on good behaviour can get a look in
  47. JUST FOR FUN – Finished 4th in a Class F at Meslay-du-Maine over 2,875m on 28 July 2026. Is nicely in on the front row and in current form is unlikely to return home empty-handed
  48. JOKER D’AMARO – Has won 3 of last 4, most recently a Class D over course and distance on 31 July. Trainer could not have wished for a better entry and Mathieu Mottier can be forgiven for feeling bullish. Claim
  49. ICI PARIS EFJI – Out of the picture in two starts since returning from a lengthy absence. Is still in conditioning-mode and can be ignored
  50. HELLO DE LIGNY – Has returned modestly following a lengthy stint on the sidelines and will have nothing to contribute
  51. JOCELYNE – Imposed over course and distance on 10 July before coming 4th in a Brehal Class E 10 days later. Will appreciate returning to a previous formula and is reunited with David Thomain who has already scored twice with her
  52. IBANQUE LEBEL – Encouraged at Brehal on 20 July but was unplaced in an Amiens Class D 9 days later and the handicap does her no favours
  53. INDIC – Showed improvement on 10 July run when third in a Class D at Enghien over 2,150m a fortnight later, and with form maintained, is unlikely to be far off the mark
  54. JASMIN GEMA – Third in a Class E under these conditions on 10 July. Is a veritable model of consistency and will be no soft touch
  55. FULL CASH DE PADD – Last of 12 in a Class D at Carentan over 2,850m on 11 July, and can be confidently disregarded
Summary: JOKER D’AMARO (9) made all to land the 31 July Quinté+ on his first start with Mathieu Mottier and immediately faces another excellent opportunity at the earnings limit over the same trip. Barring mishap, he should fight out the finish with a re-shod JOCKEY (6), provided Yoann Lebourgeois keeps him trotting. Despite an early mistake, JASMIN GEMA (15) finished third behind JOCELYNE (12), who is shod to preference, in the 10 July Quinté+ and could turn the tables this time. Showing improvement and still behind in earnings, INDIC (14) should also have a say in the outcome.

    C5 – PRIX CABOURG JET (PRIX CARDERES) – 2750m (a1m1/2) – – Mounted – EUR € 20,000
  56. LAWRENCE DAIRPET – Previously a good trotter but has been completely out of sorts this season and has no possible chance
  57. LYTERIOS DU SKY – Has form here and will be fully-fit following a trio of conditioners, but has disappointed so far this term and cannot be considered a player
  58. LEO DES KECHES – Reassured somewhat when fifth in a Class F at Plesse over 3,100m on 26 July but in this category will have his work cut out
  59. LE TANGO DU RENARD – Ran encouraging 4th at Le Mont-Saint-Michel in mid-July but was unable to confirm when eliminated at Brehal 11 days later, and can be passed over
  60. LATINO BOY – Finished 4th in a Class F at Pornichet over 2,725m on 23 July after having run 7th in 10 July race of reference. Is not the most generous of horses though and others easier to back
  61. LE VENT DU HOULET – Finished 4th in a Class E at La Capelle over 2,750m on 24 July. Will be partnered by an in-form apprentice and is unlikely to disappoint
  62. LOVIOU JOSSELYN – Ran 3rd at Vichy before coming 2nd in a Class F at Le Mans over 2,950m on 25 July 2026. Is very hard to fault in this branch of the business and is in with a realistic chance of imposing this time
  63. LOS PACOS – Lost his action in a Class F over course and distance on 10 July. Has never finished out of first 2 when focused and, with application, can make his way back into the winners’ circle
  64. LOUIS GAILLARD – Finished 6th in a Class E at Enghien over 2,250m on 29 June. Has otherwise been in excellent shape and can get in on the action if he takes to the new profile
  65. LEIPZIG TEK – Complicated trotter with solid references in the other code. Is barefoot for monte bow and has a reasonable chance of picking up a first-five payout
  66. LORD OF WIND – Third in a Class F over course and distance on 10 July 2026. Benefits from a good engagement and Justin Maillard will be keen to take advantage. Place prospect
Summary: LOVIOU JOSSELYN (7), in good form and proven with Raphaël Vilault, can fight out the finish with LOS PACOS (8) who comes from a yard enjoying a rich vein of form. LORD OF WIND (11) caught the eye with a strong late finish here last time and can confirm that promise. Racing barefoot and partnered by a capable apprentice, LE VENT DU HOULET (6) completes the shortlist.

    C6 – PRIX DES DAUPHINELLES – 2050m (a1m1/4) – – Harness – EUR € 22,000
  67. MILANO BOCNEUF – Lacklustre 6th in a Class D at Chatelaillon over 2,625m on 27 July but has otherwise been in cracking form. Races first-time barefoot and makes his Cabourg debut with a good hand to play
  68. MUST GO FAST – Has looked a different horse since returning to race on turf, latterly successful in a Class F at Erbray over 2,675m on 5 July, but others still preferred
  69. MIKI DU POMMEREUX – Finished 7th in a Class F at Durtal over 2,825m on 20 July after having run 3rd in a Biarritz Class D 16 days earlier, but in this company will have his work cut out
  70. MEPHISTO JAVANAIS – Gave a good account on comeback late last month when 5th in a Carentan Class E. Will have come on for the run, is clearly in race-mode, and can challenge for a place in the frame
  71. MAESTRO DE PAGERIE – Useful on a good day but still chasing that elusive first win. Has a pair of runs in him since the break but is still not an obvious choice
  72. MANSFIELD D’OYSE – Won a Graignes Class F on 4 July, 6 days before repeating in a Class F at Amiens over 2,400m on 10 July, and will be a tough nut to crack if he stays in stride
  73. MONTY BOY – Victorious in a Class F at Bernay over 2,800m on 12 July. Is enjoying something of a resurgence and although unlikely to repeat, can still finish close
  74. MEKONG – Has a pair of runs under his belt following the spring break. Races barefoot for the first time and although not ideally-drawn, can still make his presence felt
  75. MIRADOR – Produced a pair of fine performances before being eliminated in a Class E over course and distance on 14 July. Has a lot more going for him here and can make a big splash if focused
  76. MIGHTY KYDE – Late developer that has yet to show any aptitude for the game, and even racing barefoot this time has no realistic chance
  77. MISTER MARTIN – Produced quite the surprise when successful in a Class F at Amiens over 2,400m on 18 July. A repeat, however, seems most improbable
  78. MONOGAME – Gave a good account on re-entry at Amiens on 10 July before finishing unplaced in a Class F at La Capelle over 2,700m a fortnight later. Should not be too hastily-condemned though and in the hands of François Lagadeuc can get back in the game
  79. MADIBA DE BELLANDE – Please more than once during the spring, but out of the picture and last two, and recent Carentan disqualification inspires little confidence
Summary: MANSFIELD D’OYSE (6) has been faultless since joining the Nicolas Catherine stable and looks capable of securing a first hat-trick. Although untested in a mobile start, MIRADOR (9) has the ability to play a leading role. Racing barefoot for the first time and reunited with Alan Gendrot who won with him in May, MILANO BOCNEUF (1) is preferred next, ahead of a reconfigured MEPHISTO JAVANAIS (4) who caught the eye on his recent return to competition.

  80. NEON DU PARC – Goes clockwise for the first time following a brace of sanctions. Starts on the inside but faces a stiff test and others preferred
  81. NASH DE SEVIGNY – Lost his maiden status at Genets on 12 July but failed to confirm in better company at Amiens late last month and can be passed over
  82. NERZH DE L’AIROU – Got off the mark over 2800m at Bernay 10 days ago but failed to repeat when disqualified at the same venue a fortnight later. Should not be too quickly-condemned though and David Thomain will be eager to make amends
  83. NEWTON DE MONGOCHY – Ran 6th in a Class D at Enghien over 2,875m on 16 July 2026. Has struggled since being stepped up in category and can be ruled out
  84. NAPHIL MIJACK – Unexceptional fifth when being conditioned in a Class F at La Capelle over 2,700m on 20 July. Sports pads this time and clearly means business. Place chance
  85. NOBLE DIABLE MEF – Courageous fifth in a Class E at Lisieux over 2,725m on 15 July 2026 after having run 3rd in a Graignes Class E on 20 June. Breaks in front but represents a minor place prospect at best
  86. NEO DRY – Can prove a handful but is not devoid of ability. Eliminated in last 2 starts but has previously won racing clockwise and, if applied, can finish in the mix
  87. NORIANO BELLO – Unlucky 6th in a Class E at Lisieux over 2,725m on 15 July. Is reunited with Robin Lamy who finished 2nd with him at Saint-Malo and, despite the draw, looks the principal threat to NORDLAND VEDAQUAIS (12)
  88. NORWICH SPORT – Won at the first time of asking but eliminated in 2 since and will first need to get his house in order
  89. NECK OUEST – Sprang something of a surprise when 3rd in a Class F at Neuillé-Pont-Pierre last Sunday but, under these conditions, is unlikely to repeat
  90. NEW MAN ANGELE – Made up for 3 straight sanctions when 3rd in a Class F at Amiens over 2,400m on 18 July, however others easier to trust
  91. NORDLAND VEDAQUAIS – Stylish winner at Carentan 12 days ago, first time out. Goes right-handed this time and can repeat if he turns
  92. NOWAK BONBON – Reassuring 2nd in a Meslay-du-Maine Class F 10 days ago. Has pulled a rough number but Maxime Herrault keeps the drive and is not incapable of picking up a cheque
Summary: NORDLAND VEDAQUAIS (12) created a very favourable impression when making a winning debut on turf and can follow up if he takes to Cabourg conditions. NORIANO BELLO (8) finished strongly after conceding plenty of ground early at Lisieux last time and, sporting front pads on this occasion, rates a serious danger. Unlucky at Bernay on his latest outing, NERZH DE L’AIROU (3) is thoroughly capable of making amends, while a reconfigured NAPHIL MIJACK (5) is worth keeping a close eye on.

  93. NALIANO – Disqualified on debut in a Class E over course and distance on 28 July. Is plainly an interesting future prospect and on better behaviour can lose his maiden status
  94. NINJA DES FLOTS – Disqualified under harness at Guerlesquin over 2,900m on 26 July, first time out. Sports a new formula for monte bow but seems a minor place chance at best
  95. NOISY FROMENTRO – Unplaced in a Class F at Lignieres over 2,100m on 12 July, having qualified unremarkably the previous month, and is not an obvious choice
  96. NOTABLE D’ECHAL – Produced best performance to date when 5th over 2625m at Saint-Jean-de-Monts last weekend, but still has a lot more to find
  97. NEO MIO – Makes monte debut after 3 unexceptional harness performances. Has yet to race on a hard surface and others easier to back
  98. NEPTUNE PIERJI – Has been particularly disappointing since his early-June debut, most recently coming last of 9 in a Class E over course and distance late last month, and can be disregarded
  99. NAME IS JACK – Modest individual that finished one-paced in a Class E under these conditions 10 days ago and is unlikely to influence the result
  100. NIL DE PAB – Third in a Class F at Laon, on debut, over 2,850m on 19 July. Will have improved for the run and must not be underestimated
  101. NEW HOPE D’ELEMS – Returns to the provinces after coming 6th in an Enghien Class E late last month. Has had 5 partners in 5 outings, and Nora Alexandre, the 6th, can expect to pick up a cheque
  102. NEVERMIND DAY – Given a rest after being disqualified in a Class F at Argentan over 2,150m on 13 April. Comes here fresh and makes his monte debut with legitimate ambition
  103. NASH DE VANDEL – Eliminated in a harness Class E over course and distance, on re-entry, early last month. Has already impressed in the other code and with Damien Bonne in the irons will be afforded every chance
  104. NICO DU RIB – Finished 3rd in a Class F over track and trip on 21 July 2026. Has yet to get off the mark but is clearly close to his race and, given the entry, could well have his way this time
Summary: If NALIANO (1) stays in stride he should just have the measure of this field. Showing improvement and well-engaged here, NICO DU RIB (12) rates the main threat, ahead of NEVERMIND DAY (10) who is reunited with Benjamin Rochard, with whom he made an encouraging debut at Caen in March. Bred for the discipline and already a winner under harness, NASH DE VANDEL (11) should logically generate considerable interest.

C1 – PRIX PIERRE LEFEUVRE – 2300m (a1m1/2) – – Harness – EUR € 6,000

  1. JEST THE BEST – Second in a Class H Amateurs’ race at Plesse over 3,100m on 26 July 2026. Will race with padded shoes on all four feet and must be considered for a place
  2. INDY FLIGNY – Disqualified in a Class H over 00m at Plesse on 27 July. Earlier form was decent and well positioned behind the autostart deserves consideration
  3. JERRY DE BRAYE – Showed promise and was third in a Class G Amateurs’ race at Les Sables D’Olonne over 2,650m on 24 July 2026. Four wins and two places in his last six starts indicates he has to be a contender
  4. GYPSIE MAGIQUE – Finished 8th in a Amateur race over 2900m at Clairefontaine on 19 July. Will race unshod this time and that should boost her chances
  5. KIRENE FLASH – Not disgraced when fifth in a Class F at Cabourg over 2,725m on 3 July 2026. Not far behind in her last two starts and should be a force in this event
  6. JOUR D’ERABLE – Disqualified in a F over 2225m at Agon on 24 July. He is a little erratic but can run well when in the mood
  7. JAPPELOUP CARNOIS – Finished 11th in a Class F at Questembert over 3,125m on 2 August 2026. Will need to up his game to have any say in the finish
  8. KAPEO – Unplaced in a Class F at Biarritz over 2,950m on 7 July 2026. Did not have the best of fortune last time but his earlier form is good so he deserves another chance
  9. IF DE QUERAY – Winner of a Class H over 3125m at Plesse on 27 July. Showed good improvement last time but has more to do this time racing with shoes at the back
  10. KARNAC DU GLANON – Unplaced in a Class H over 2700m at Luxe on on 1 August. His form this year has been poor and he is best left alone
  11. JOUR DE JUIN – Disqualified last time out in a Class G Amateurs’ race at Langon over 2,800m on 12 June 2026. Last few runs have been poor and he will need to do more
  12. IDYLLE DU CHATAULT – Finished 13th in a Class H over 3000m at Neuille Pont Pierre on 2 August. Form is weak and should be overlooked
  13. IVAN LENDEL – Disqualified in a class H over 3100m at Plesse on 26 July. Recent form has been mediocre and would do well to place
  14. INTOUCHABLE AR – Unplaced in a Class F over 2900m at Guerlesquin on 26 July. Form overall is poor and looks unlikely to feature
Summary: Not much went right for KAPEO (8) in his last start and a line should be put through that performance. With Arthur Raffin in the driver’s seat this time he has to have a lively winning chance. JERRY DE BRAYE (3) is the model of consistency and another good run is likely while GYPSIE MAGIQUE (4) who will be racing without shoes this time is expected to be competitive. KIRENE FLASH (5) drops to this class for the first time and a decent effort is expected.

  15. NUSHA – Outclassed the opposition in a Class G at St Jean De Monts over 2,625m on 25 July 2026. That was an outstanding debut effort and there should be more to come

Summary: STARSPIRIT GATSBY (1) has been placed on his last two runs over hurdles and can get deserved success. His main danger could be NO WAY KARWIN (2), who shaped with promise when fourth on his debut at this track over hurdles last month and will improve from that effort. SAY HAY (4) is another to pay attention to and has strong claims each-way. CELESTIN NONANTAIS (3) showed ability on debut when fourth over hurdles at this track on July 10 and heads the remainder.
