R1 Longchamp [R-H]
C1 – QATAR PRIX MARCEL BOUSSAC – CRITERIUM DES POULICHES – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – – Flat – EUR € 400,000
- SPIRIT TANGO – Made it 2 in a row when easily winning a Goodwood Class 2 early last month, beating a serious filly into the bargain, and is not one to be overlooked
- SO LOVELY – Failed to confirm Leopardstown victory when sixth in a Class 3 over a mile at The Curragh on 29 August and is unlikely to spring any surprises
- MALIKAT AL REMAL – Won her maiden at Deauville in August before coming fourth in Group II Prix d’Aumale over course and distance on 6 September, but still has more to find
- MISS MINIVER – Won a valuable Salisbury maiden on 3 September, 3 weeks before coming 4th in Gr.2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket. Has not had much time to recuperate but still represents a respectable first-five chance
- QUEEN OF THE DAY – Improving filly that ran second to DATA (11) in Group III Prix Six Perfections at Deauville over 1,400m on 2 August. Is new to Longchamp, benefits from a good draw, and can play a part
- NEVERMINDTHERAIN – Came close to getting off the mark when 2nd in a Gowran Park maiden a fortnight ago but has nothing to offer here, except for possibly setting the pace
- IBELIEVEICANFLY – Respectable 4th in a Class 2 at The Curragh before repeating in a Leopardstown Listed 3 weeks ago, but is unlikely to create an upset
- GREEN EMPRESS – Won Gr.2 Debutante Stakes at The Curragh before running 2nd to the extraordinary Sun Goddess in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the same venue 3 weeks ago. Is new to a mile but still looks the horse to beat
- TALL TREES – Got off the mark in a Sandown maiden in late-August, 12 days before failing to deliver in Gr.2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster, and can expect to have few friends
- ALLELA – Romped in her maiden at Deauville on 22 August before confirming in a Class 2 at Chantilly over 1,600m on 14 September. Takes a big jump in class but would not be here without a realistic chance of imposing
- DATA – Won 2 on the trot before being denied a run, coming third, in Group II Prix d’Aumale over course and distance on 6 September. Clearly has a lot of untapped potential and can play a leading role
- COMEDY CEN – Got off the mark at the first time of asking, winning a newcomers race at Bordeaux on 12 September, but in this company is unlikely to make her presence felt
Summary: GREEN EMPRESS (8) has made three good starts in Group races and tackles a mile for the first time, with Sun Goddess out of the picture, with leading claims. The Wertheimer brothers are doubly-represented, having supplemented the unbeaten ALLELA (10), while DATA (11) is a Group 3 winner and Pierre-Charles Boudot has already won with her. Winner of this race in 2024, Francis Graffard saddles the consistent and talented QUEEN OF THE DAY (5).

C2 – QATAR PRIX JEAN-LUC LAGARDERE – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – – Flat – EUR € 400,000 - FOLSOM BLUES – Ran 2nd to Sun Goddess on 9 August, then won the Gr.1 National Stakes at The Curragh by 6L three weeks ago and, with form maintained, can make his French debut a victorious one
- BIG MONEY MAN – By no means disgraced when fourth in Group I Summer S. at Woodbine over 1,600m on 12 September but will still have more to find
- IMPERIAL STRIKE – Second to AVEC TOI (6) in Group III Prix la Rochette over course and distance on 6 September. Missed out by little that day and once again looks a serious proposition
- FLORIDA BAY – Third, 7.25L off FOLSOM BLUES (1), in Gr.1 National Stakes at The Curragh three weeks ago, first time out. Will have progressed for the run and although unlikely win this, should nevertheless finish in the mix
- CRUSHERMAN – Takes a hike in class after winning his maiden at Newbury on 26 August and is not a concern
- AVEC TOI – Maintained his undefeated record when victorious in Group III Prix la Rochette over course and distance on 6 September and has a realistic chance of bringing the fight to FOLSOM BLUES (1)
- ALFRED WALLACE – Ran 4th in Gr.3 Acomb Stakes at York on 19 August before winning Gr.3 Solario Stakes at Sandown on 29 August. A repeat, however, seems improbable
- AIX LA CHAPELLE – Has not been seen out since running 4th in a Class 3 at Leopardstown on 23 July and will not be competitive when push comes to shove
- MAN’S BEST FRIEND – Won at Naas and Goodwood in July before coming fourth to a very good filly in Gr.1 Prix Morny at Deauville on 23 August. Has never run beyond 1200m but is not a colt to be underestimated
- AMUSINGLY – Runner-up in Group II Prix d’Aumale at Longchamp over 1,600m on 6 September. Connections are taking a punt running her against the colts but, if successful, would become the first filly since Happily in 2017 to win the race
Summary: Impressive winner over the straight course at The Curragh in mid-September, FOLSOM BLUES (1) arrives in France with leading claims despite being drawn wide. AVEC TOI (6) and IMPERIAL STRIKE (3) produced a magnificent finish under these conditions a month ago, with the former again getting the nod to keep his unbeaten record intact. The only filly in the field, AMUSINGLY (10) was supplemented for the race after being taken out of the Prix Marcel Boussac and must be treated seriously.

C3 – PRIX DE L’ABBAYE DE LONGCHAMP LONGINES – 1000m (a5f) – TURF – – Flat – EUR € 350,000 - AFJAN – Finished 9th in a Listed at Chantilly over 1,100m last Tuesday. Has otherwise been giving a good account of himself but is not a priority
- COROLLA POINT – Solid sort that won a valuable handicap at York on 19 August but at this level can expect to find this a stiff test
- REDORANGE – Went off the boil after winning a York Listed on 11 July and the draw only complicates matters
- PONNTOS – Unplaced in a Group III under these conditions on 13 September and in this company will struggle to make his presence felt
- JAWWAL – Runner-up in this race 12 months ago. Finished 7th, when prepping as he did in 2025, in a Class 1 at Chantilly over 1,100m on 4 September, and is unlikely to let the side down
- COVER UP – Won a Curragh Gr.2 in July but has twice failed to confirm and can expect to have few friends
- MISSION CENTRAL – Out of the picture in 3 since winning Gr.1 King Charles III Stakes at Ascot in June, but is not here to make up the numbers and should be taken seriously
- RUMSTAR – In the frame in last 3, most recently 3rd in Gr.1 Flying Five Stakes at The Curragh on 13 September, and has a realistic chance of making his French bow a winning one
- MISS YECHANCE – Won a valuable handicap at York a month before confirming in a Gr.3 over 1030m at Newbury a fortnight ago. Karl Burke has enjoyed considerable success in France and runs her in the belief that she can win this
- MONTEILLE – Has been very disappointing in 2026 and recent Gr.3 run did little to inspire confidence
- ARGENTINE TANGO – Surprise 2nd in a Beverley Listed before running 6th in Gr.1 Flying Five Stakes behind RUMSTAR (8). Is an outside chance but is not incapable of getting a look in
- SHIRI – Second to NAANA’S SHADOW (15) in a Group III Prix du Petit Couvert over course and distance on 13 September. Has hardly put a foot out of line this season and has a realistic chance of making the frame once more
- TIME FOR SANDALS – Finished a place behind RUMSTAR (8) in Gr.1 Nunthorpe Stakes before failing to deliver in Gr.1 Flyin Five Stakes at The Curragh 3 weeks ago. Is a Gr.1-winning sprinter though and must be afforded respect
- LUNA A INBHIR NIS – Surprise 2nd in a Sandown Gr.3 in early-July but failed to confirm on re-entry at Ayr on 18 September and is not about to influence the result
- NAANA’S SHADOW – Travelled from Scotland to Paris to dominate 1000m Gr.3 Prix du Petit Couvert here 3 weeks ago, in a record time, and in similar shape can repeat
Summary: Very much the preserve of foreign-trained horses, the Abbaye has not seen a French winner since 2020 and the locals may have to wait a little longer. Still on the hunt for a first Group 1 success, and drawn wide here, RUMSTAR (8) is nevertheless remarkably consistent and has been knocking at the door since winning a Sandown Gr.3 in July. Impressive winner of a Gr.3 under these conditions three weeks ago, NAANA’S SHADOW (15) did not win the draw-stakes but she still represents a serious player. Supplemented for the race, and in excellent shape, three year-old MISS YECHANCE (9) can hold her own against her elders. SHIRI (12), back under Mickaël Barzalona, will carry domestic hopes.

C4 – QATAR ARABIAN WORLD CUP – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 1,000,000 - SHAYEG – Showed marginal improvement when 3rd in Gr.1 Prix Dragon here early last month, however a repeat seems most improbable
- TABARUS – Won a 2200m conditions race at Toulouse on 16 September but has nothing to bring to this particular party
- HM ALCHAHINE – Runner-up to the excellent Al Ghadeer in 2025. Has nothing to prove under these conditions, will have been specifically-honed for this, and will be well-backed to impose
- RB KINGMAKER – Facile winner of Gr.1 Qatar International Stakes at Goodwood on 29 July, most recently confirming with victory in a Gr.1 at Waregem, and looks main threat to his stablemate
- RUMZ – Unremarkable element that has no place in this field and is not about to shake things up
- RB YAS SIR – Returns to France after coming 4th over 2400m in Gr.2 Ifahr Trophy at Ostend in July and already looks outclassed
- LIPPO DE CARRERE – Exacted revenge on LACARO DU CROATE (12) at the end of July at Goodwood, although was unable to trouble RB KINGMAKER (4). Place chance all the same
- MOLFIT – Consistent for the most part but has raced little over last 2 seasons and is unlikely to spring any surprises
- MAQBOOL – Gave a good account when 3rd to RB KINGMAKER (4) in a Waregem Gr.1 on 1 September. Will be fitted with cheekpieces this time but others still preferred
- HAJMAH – Recent 4th to RB KINGMAKER (4) at Goodwood. Could have finished closer but was somewhat out of sorts that day and must not be underestimated
- GENEVA – Ran 2nd to HM ALCHAHINE (3) in Gr.1 Prix Dragon over course and distance on 6 September. Only a 2kg difference between them this time and chances appear limited
- LACARO DU CROATE – Distant 3rd to RB KINGMAKER (4) and LIPPO DE CARRERE (7) in Gr.1 Qatar International Stakes at Goodwood on 29 July. Comes here fresh and although not a priority, can still pick up a first-five payout
- CHDIA – Runner-up to HAJMAH (10) in Gr.1 Arabian Trophy des Juments here 12 months ago. Has not tasted defeat on her many travels since but still looks a minor place chance at best
Summary: HM ALCHAHINE (3), who has finished in the first two in all three starts over course and distance, can bag himself another Group 1. Stablemate of this formidable campaigner, RB KINGMAKER (4) leads the opposition who are all closely-matched. Proven at this level, the superbly-consistent LIPPO DE CARRERE (7) also has ambitions, as does HAJMAH (10), whose Goodwood run stands her in good stead.

C5 – QATAR PRIX DE L’ARC DE TRIOMPHE – 2400m (a1m1/2) – TURF – – Flat – EUR € 5,000,000 - DARYZ – Beautifully-bred winner of Arc 2025. Had a blip at Ascot after winning a pair of Gr.1s at home, but answered all the questions when easily winning the Gr.2 Prix Foy and, on paper, is on course for a second Arc success
- SADDADD – Ran 4th in the Gr.1 Eclipse Stakes at Sandown in July, 2 months before winning the Gr.1 Grosser Preis Von Baden on 6 September. Faces a much different challenge this time and others preferred
- CHESTNUT ROCKET – Won a Vichy Listed before running 2nd in Gr.2 Grand Prix de Deauville over 2,500m on 30 August. Represents her trainer’s first Arc runner but quite simply has a mountain to climb
- ADMIRE TERRA – Yasuo Tomomichi goes for a 3rd Arc with this Hanshin Gr.2 winner. Followed up with 3rd place in Gr.1 The Tenno Sho before being put away. Failed to deliver in The Sapporo Kinen before coming to France but is fitted with a tongue-tie this time and is worth monitoring
- MEISHO TABARU – Has not been seen out since winning the Gr.1 Takarazuka Kinen at Hanshin in June. Takes first competitive steps on French soil, with previously French-based Yutaka Take aboard, but still faces a tough test
- ARROW EAGLE – Half-brother to champion Ace Impact, and 6th in 2025 edition. Represents the last ever runner from the Jean-Claude Rouget stable and despite running 3rd in Gr.2 Grand Prix de Deauville, is unlikely to offer her handler a fairytale ending
- BAY CITY ROLLER – Ran 2nd in Gr.1 Tattersalls Gold Cup before easily-securing the Gr.1 Coronation Cup, at the expense of Jan Brueghel and Calandagan. Returned after three months to run 2nd to DARYZ (1) in the Prix Foy. Stays well and can pick up a cheque
- MINNIE HAUK – Runner-up to DARYZ (1) in 2025. Has scored just the once in 2026, most recently ran 3rd in Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks and, while not a leading contender, should nevertheless give this a good go
- KALPANA – Put in quite the performance to win the Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks at York over 2,380m on 20 August, just under a month after winning the King George at Ascot. Benefits from a decent draw and should improve considerably on last year’s performance
- FRIENDLY SOUL – 2024 Prix de l’Opera winner back at the top of her game after having missed all of 2025, most recently winning the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille over course and distance on 6 September. Has ground to make up against the colts though and is not an obvious choice
- VARANDIR – Fourth in Gr.1 Grand Prix de Paris before putting on quite the show to win Gr.2 Prix Niel over course and distance on 6 September. Had not been Arc-bound until then but is sure to garner significant support and Clément Lecoeuvre gets the nod
- BENVENUTO CELLINI – Irish Derby winner that ran 3rd to KALPANA (9) in the King George. Should not be too harshly-judged for coming 5th to VARANDIR (11) in Gr.2 Prix Niel and, drawn on the rail, will be no pushover
- BRIGHT LIGHT – Ran 3rd in Group I Grosser Preis Von Baden over 2,400m on 6 September. Is in superior company this time and has no possible chance
- MALTESE CROSS – Classy 3yo that would have won the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Paris by considerably more had he been afforded a run, but was imperious in the Gr.2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York and has the quality to win a race of this calibre
- THUNDERING ON – Superb winner of the Oaks in June. Made up for Gr.1 Pretty Polly 4th with a rest followed by a comfortable win in the Gr.2 Blandford Stakes at The Curragh 3 weeks ago. Takes on the boys this time but should nevertheless acquit herself honourably
- DIAMOND NECKLACE – Won 6 in a row, including Gr.1 Prix de Diane and Gr.1 Nassau Stakes, before coming 2nd in Gr.1 Prix Jean et Louis Romanet on 23 August. Has never raced beyond 2100m, or against the boys, but has buckets of class and merits respect
Summary: Phenomenal winner in 2025, DARYZ (1) put any fears to bed about his Ascot run when making short work of the Gr.2 Prix Foy. Ideally-drawn and, according to his trainer, even better on fast ground, he will logically start as favourite. Winner of the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Paris (Gr.1) by a whisker after suffering interference, MALTESE CROSS (14) subsequently won the Great Voltigeur Stakes. He has yet to finish outside the first two in seven starts and possesses a superb turn of foot. Blessed with plenty of stamina, he looks the main danger. Seventh in the 2025 edition, KALPANA (9) returns to Longchamp better than ever. She has enjoyed an ideal preparation, is drawn next to DARYZ (1), and can target a place on the podium. BENVENUTO CELLINI (12) is capable of better than his last two results would suggest. He won the Irish Derby with ease and is drawn rails-side. Ten years after Found, he could give Aidan O’Brien another Arc victory. A little late coming into himself, VARANDIR (11) ran out an impressive winner of the Gr.2 Prix Niel. He still has plenty of improvement to come and could complete a memorable weekend for the Aga Khan colours.

- PINK PANTHERA – Finished 2nd in the Group I Qatar Prix Vermeille at Longchamp over 2,400m on 6 September last time. Player

- BEAUTIFY – Finished 5th in the Group I Qatar Prix Vermeille at Longchamp over 2,400m on 6 September when last racing. Others more persuasive
- JENNIFER JANE – Finished 5th last time out at the Curragh (IRL) on September 13 in a Group 2 race over 2000m. She has work to do
- PRECISE – Came home 5th in the Matron Stakes (Gr. 1) at Leopardstown over 1,600m on 12 September. She has won four Group 1 races over 1600m. Hard to ignore stepping up in distance
- MISS SCOTT – Nice win last time in a Group 3 race at the Curragh (IRL) over 1800m on August 29. She is progressive and warrants respect
Summary: AVENTURE (2) won with authority on her latest start in late August in the Prix Romanet (Gr.1) when beating the unbeaten Diamond Necklace into second that day. She should have too much in her locker for PINK PANTHERA (3), who ran a good race to be second in the Prix Vermeille (Gr.1) on her latest start early last month. PRECISE (8) acquitted herself well enough when fifth in the Matron Stakes (Gr.1) last time, and this filly who has won four Group 1 races over 1600m tries this distance for the first time and can not be ignored. CANKOURA (1) heads the remainder.

Summary: SAMANGAN (2) has solid credentials and scored in the Prix Maurice de Gheest (Gr.1) on his latest outing early in August. Freshened up he will be ready to go and can score at the expense of THESECRETADVERSARY (4) , who won the Prix Jean Prat (Gr.1) on his penultimate start and was a creditable fifth over 1600m when last seen in August in the Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr.1). NIGHTTIME (5) was fifth in the Prix Moulin (Gr.1) recently and will be more at home back over this shorter distance. SHOWNA (7) makes up the shortlist.

BLUE BROTHER (1) has solid claims each-way despite top weight and TORTISAMBERT (4) is another to pay attention to and can have a say in proceedings.

GALORD (11) came back to form when fourth at Deauville at the start of September in a Class 2 handicap and can make his presence felt. Summary: BIG LOG (10) could be the answer to this open handicap. He has been knocking at the door with two second placed efforts of late and deserves to get his head in front. CARAMELITO (2) can keep the selection honest and arrives in good form, his latest effort was success at Deauville in a Class 2 handicap in August. PRINCE DES VILLES (8) also scored at Deauville on his latest start in August and is one to pay attention to each-way. GERARD TER BORCH (3) can once again give a good account of himself and he can be expected to be finishing with a flourish. SERENISSIMUS (17) is also worth considering and can have a say in proceedings.
