Go Rogue with Fillies’ Mile selection

Fine Form
Rogue Passion NM – 2.57

can reward punters who value form over hype with victory in the bet365 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.
Musical Times is due to go off as a long odds-on favourite based on the manner of her seven-length success in the May Hill at Doncaster. While that was extremely impressive, she was beating Scommessa Sicura who is the rank outsider for this Group One.
There may just be a chance Musical Times has been overrated and with that in mind Ed Bethell’s Rogue Passion is a clear next-best.
The form of her Group Two win in France last time out certainly could not have worked out any better.
She beat Amusingly, who won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagadere against the colts on Sunday, while back in third after meeting trouble in running was Data, narrowly beaten in the Prix Marcel Boussac.
Amusingly’s rider Colin Keane expressed surprise that his mount was beaten that day and the manner of her win at the weekend suggests she is right out of the top drawer. The fact Rogue Passion was able to run her down suggests she might be too.
Flora Of Bermuda NM – 2.25
appears to have been found a good opportunity in the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards Challenge Stakes.
Andrew Balding’s mare already has a couple of Group Three wins to her credit but has always come up just short above that level.
However, her most recent effort behind More Thunder at Doncaster in the Park Stakes was right up there with her best performances and the form has received a few boosts.
This might be her last chance of a win at this level before she heads off for a second career.
Balding’s
Dance In The Storm NM – 4.10
is well worth a crack at black type in the Godolphin Under Starters Orders EBF Boadicea Stakes.
She ran well at York behind Sondad in August before perhaps getting bogged down in heavy ground in the Ayr Gold Cup when fifth.
Back on a sounder surface there are reasons to believe she can mix it with these in Listed company.
Felicitas NM – 4.45
can show the benefit of a break in the Newmarket Pony Academy Pride Stakes.
She looked potentially top class in the first part of the season when winning at Sandown and then going close in the Musidora.
Well beaten in the French Oaks, she was put away until a satisfactory run at Salisbury in August and is given one more chance to live up to the hopes Ed Walker had for her in the spring.
Walker can double up with
Siena Storm NM – 1.50
in the Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes, having been a little unlucky last time out.
In The Black NM – 1.15
massively outran her 50-1 odds in the Flying Childers at Doncaster and can have a say in the Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes.
Squeezed out close home, she could easily have finished even closer and this stiffer finish might suit.
Ralph Beckett has been biding his time with
Beagle Bay YO – 1.30
waiting for some give in the ground.
He finally gets it in the William Hill Gold Weekend Autumn Mile Handicap at York and he can continue his progress.
Chepstow’s two-day meeting signals the start of the proper jumps season for many where the DragonBet ‘Welsh Champion’ Hurdle takes centre stage.
Not surprisingly Dan Skelton is throwing plenty at it, but one trainer who has made a flying start to his career is Nick Scholfield.
He trained
Queenie St Clair CP – 3.12
to win a valuable pot at Kelso last season and after a recent spin on the Flat, she should be fitter than most.
